The Naturolls

The Confident Three return for part two of their adventure!

The road to jail is long, and as their prison cart bumps along, the party rests and we FLASH BACK once again to the lead up to their fateful capture.

The night before the bar fight, The Confident Three receive a note - "Meet me at my shop across town. Don't be seen." It's the kind of correspondence they've been waiting for, one that could place them right at the heart of the unrest in Mooringsong.

The only trouble is the city is swarming with guards overnight, and they enforce a strict, no exceptions curfew.

Will they make it across town without being seen? And what would they do to any guards who did manage to spot them?

What is The Naturolls?

The Naturolls is your seat at the table for a Daggerheart TTRPG actual play. Listen in as a group of friends from around the world tells campfire stories (and puns) in The Shatterlands, a once-divided kingdom whose 100 years of peace is unexpectedly ended by a dangerous threat.

Friends, I'd like to welcome you all back to another brand new episode of the Naturals. Or maybe these are the unnaturals. This is our second episode with an all-new, all-different cast, and I'd like to first remind everyone again that the original cast story is far from over. The Shatterlands is a wide world with many stories to be told. I'm Michael. I go by Revealing Too Much Online, and I'll be your host and GM. Now, everyone else, why don't you tell the good people who you are and the name of the character that you're playing? Hi, I'm Mav and I play Alakran's Moondown. Hi, I'm John. I play Arithean the Dragonling. I am Tiddly and I play Lady Almathara Moondown. I'm Ballista Kitty and I play Morelia Willow Shade. Alright, let's get to it. The story of the confident three began with their end. The party's witch, Morelia, saw it in a vision of the future. The path that they had chosen would only lead to one place. Their inevitable graves. Fortunately, paths can always be changed. Unless you choose to get yourself arrested by the city guard, then perhaps you remain on that path until its end. Or yours. Morelia has this vision of the party in its demise as the door closes on your cell on the carriage they're using to transport you to prison. You planned for this. You meant to get arrested. But as another prisoner leans over to you and asks, Hey, what do you plan to do about the death pits? You realize you didn't plan for this. Time rolls on along with your transport. The hours stretch and slip into each other as the pure mundanity of your travel settles into your bones. There aren't many ways to pass the time. The landscape moves by you, trees and hills, and eventually it all begins to look the same The scenery blurs, and before you realize it, as uncomfortable as you all are, you're all so tired. And you slip into a bit of a bumpy, restless sleep. Since the party is A little banged up from the previous adventures. Um we're gonna treat this as a short rest As a way for people to recover some things. You can take your short rest actions. I would say anything that is gonna draw the attention of the guards that are keeping an eye on you. You might avoid, but you're you're able to recover some HP and other things that you can recover at a short rest, but We can either play that out or we can just keep moving. I'll leave that up to you. Well, I'm I'm certainly gonna try to regain some hit points uh because I Crans absolutely did not know when to give up the game and uh went into hand in hand combat with armored guards and so he's pretty banged up so I'm gonna try to to uh Stem the bleeding from my mouth and nose and see if I can get the swelling down on this black eye. Okay So I get two HP back. Awesome. And you had five marked from the previous session, is that correct? That's right. I'm going to tend to my wounds and clear my stress. Okay Which I had one wound, so I clear the wound. Um, and I clear two stress. Awesome. Sounds like we're getting a little bit of recovery as you're bumping along this dirt path to prison. Is is uh is Almathara awake during this? Like if her are we is are we kind of like fitful sleep? Yeah, I I really I mean she didn't really take damage, so she can she'll kind of stand watch. Or or keep an eye on the other prisoners in while people are healing or doing what they need to do. Yeah, if you I think if you don't have just as a kind of a a general rule thing, if you don't have something else that you need to do You can always use the the gain hope action. You could always do the what's the what's the button for or what's the name for regaining hope? Prepare with others. Prepare with others. Prepare with us. Work out a way to maybe give someone some hope about as bad as the situation is, we're gonna be okay. That sort of thing, if you'd like Sounds good. I think if if Almy is uh is keeping watch, that's gonna let Kranz after he's kind of tried to patch himself back up, uh you know, kind of cross his arms over his chest and lean his head back against the the wall of the or the the r the bars of the uh moving cart. and uh try to get a little bit of rest and knock off some stress. And I I was able to knock off three stress. Awesome. And I just want to remind everybody of kind of the placement, just to set the stage a little bit Um we have a a rolling cart with bars and a jail cell door type thing. All the bars are made out of metal. Pretty sturdy construction. Inside this cart, uh sitting side by side, we have Almathara and we have Alacrans Maybe not the best idea for the guards to sit the twins side by side. We'll see. Um across the way we had Morelia, and then kind of filling the rest of the cart is a bunch of different people in Stages of consciousness, stages of disrepair might be the right word. The guard aren't necessarily known for treating the people they capture too well As a bunch of you might know, uh based on the fact that they just caught you and and beat you up a little bit. And um Then in the kind of a another cart behind chained down, we have our Dragon Link, Erithan, who is um Kind of on his own so he gets a little more space but he's also chained down pretty firmly tightly might be tightly I don't know whatever take your pick I know this is our first downtime as a campaign, so if you have any questions, if you want to know about anything, that is okay. Or if you just want to move on, we can do that too. I'm just gonna take my hope. Okay. Sounds good. What do you deem to prepare? Is there anything specific that is something that gives you confidence or a hopeful outlook for the future despite the fact that you are currently shackled in a cell. I would say that um Morelia hearing uh the person beside her talk about the death pits, which is something that wasn't really alerted to us as being something that we might encounter. Um I think she's a little bit curious about that and she'd probably want to read the threads to see I mean for going that way it's not like the threads are gonna like change that path, but hmm If you'd like to use an ability, you can, but just be aware. You may get some attention if you do, so. Do it. Do it. Could I guess talking with that individual could that in a in a sense prepare her, at least like mentally, just like getting gaining more information about what they know? Sure, absolutely. That could be okay. Yeah, absolutely. Is there anything you would like me to answer about that? You as as the guy? Right, yes. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Okay. So I guess cutting from the last session into the guy's uh comments about the death pits. Morelia uh inquisitively like looks over at him and asks him What do you mean about the death pits? Kinda cocks his head and gives you a bit of a confused look. Um The death pits. You know about the death pits. That's and like Enlighten me. Well, um, you see these guys, and he kinda points a thumb back at the guards, and uh one of them takes the the back end of a spear and just kind of like jabs him with it. uh the back end to be clear he's not stabbing him but he's poking him uh it's like ah keep your keep your fingers down because uh they don't they don't like a lot of movement and The guy kind of looks around and is like, you know, the death pits, they're you can probably get the idea that This isn't one of those places where they're going to take care of you, so once they capture someone, eventually. They they need that space back. And how do you make space? Like getting rid of some of the some of the people taking it up, so. You know, they gamble, they place bets. Sometimes you pitted against other prisoners. Sometimes something worse. You know a lot about these death pits. Have you been arrested before? Oh no. I mean I you know what they got me for Yeah curfew. Yeah. Didn't uh didn't get inside in time and well, the place I normally stayed didn't want me. And It's a long story, but no, I'm I'm you know, I don't I don't I don't belong here. I don't belong to be a r deserve to be arrested. I I'm an upstanding citizen. I didn't do anything wrong, and as he says that All of the other people in the cell are like, yeah, yeah, none of us did anything wrong. And then more more back ends of spears kind of come in and poke people into being quiet again. Um And he's like, I you just you know, you're you're around long enough, you you hear stories and well Any kind of shudders. God, I hope they don't send me to the pits. So there's a separation. A separation of people that are arrested. I mean I guess it depends on if they like you or not. He kind of like realizes that in the past like minute and a half he's gotten basically poked with the back end of his spear twice. And he like quickly looks down at his feet and Kinda tries to avert his gaze from you. That's all from Marillia. Okay. Anybody else have anything they would like to do as a part of their rest? And we'll say that just kind of literally resting is uh is a pretty good justification for regaining some HP and reducing some stress. If you're able to get some sleep, it's obviously going to have a positive effect on the mind and the body. So I don't have to roleplay every single thing. I don't need to hear snoring necessarily unless you really Wanna wanna do that. Almost alright doesn't snore. I I assume Alcrans does with how many times he's gonna be a little bit more than a few years. His nose has been broken a couple times. He's definitely got he's definitely got a deviated symptom. Yeah. He gets humbled every time he starts snoring though. Erithane, did you have anything else? Just resting. I think we ended the last episode with me falling falling asleep to the light drizzle of rain and the warm sun. Okay. And you uh you did roll your prayer dice for this session, is that correct? Okay. I sure did. Okay, is there anything that Aerathan does to kinda To make the those prayer dice his own. Like how how does he How does he gain this divine inspiration? Is it is he talking to a deity? Is he connecting with something? What is he doing? I think he's he it's probably more of like a self-meditation. It's it's instinctual in in that sense he um Possibly if someone's listening closely, you hear potentially a little humming. Um But it it's I he doesn't follow anybody, he doesn't um it's not like he he doesn't do any kind of praying to anybody, it's just sort of something that instinctually just comes back to him. Um Uh as he this time it's gonna be basking in the sun in the rain. Uh that kind of sort of just kinda sort of fills him back up with I guess a little bit of light, a little bit of hope. In that sense, but not real hope. Not the actual hope hope, but something that gives him a little bit more inspiration to help him along his journey. Okay. Sounds good? Alright, if that's what everybody's got, um I'll just kinda go back to just to kind of give the flow of of the story a little bit. I'll go back a few sentences here. So Time rolls on along with your transport. The hours stretch and slip into each other as the pure mundanity of your travels Settles into your bones. There aren't many ways to pass the time. The landscape moves by you, trees and hills, and eventually it all begins to look the same The scenery blurs, and before you realize it, as uncomfortable as you all are, you're also tired, and you slip into a bit of a bumpy, restless sleep. And as you doze, I'm gonna take you back in time, once again, not to the bar fight. To the night before. The town of Moringsong has quieted down as the night settled in Something you've noticed in your brief time here happens every night, perhaps due to the strict curfew put in place by the town guards. Or at least the people who have assumed the role currently. You all are also settled safely into your room for the night. There's just one little problem. And it arrives as a knock on the door. Kranz looks around like, oh I I guess I'll get it then. He stands up and and uh the I the room they're in, I'm assuming they're they're all sharing accommodations. I will let you guys paint the scene for where you are. Like are you in A room above the tavern or are you did you find other housing? Let you guys decide where you are and what it looks like Maybe it's like hostile. Yeah, it's just a open bay with beds and I I can tell you, I think the twins would only ever stay in accommodations that were less than pristine in dire straits. Yeah, for sure. I think they're like they would have tried to find the most expensive place in town that could also house all four of them. I think the question is how much money we would have at that time, but we would probably spend without caring about getting more money. to get the nicest accommodations we could possibly get. And if everyone else wants to sleep in the stables, then so be it. That's kind of how like we would roll, you know. And just as a reminder, um just for because we're moving around in time. The next day is when Alakrans is going to the fighting pits because that's to get all the gold. Yeah. That was before the tavern brawl. So we don't have that money yet. But you guys have been adventuring a while. You likely have some coin that you could afford afford something. I would say it's probably a reasonable accommodation in the inn. Okay. Yeah, and and I think it would be uh Cranz is terrible with money. I I think that shocks absolutely nobody. So he spends it very quickly. Um so he would have had absolutely no compunction about like getting a really, really nice room for the four of them that could house all of them. Um and paying for it himself. Like not asking for anybody else. He's like, no, no, of course. I It this is believe me, I could I I I got this covered um when when obtaining the room. So I would say it's big fireplace, you know, hearth roaring, um you know, place uh nice big like area in one corner for Aerythane to like stretch out and like specific beds for the other three um The I think the knock at the door they're not expecting anybody. So Kranz, who at this time now has That's actually a great reminder. You all can re-equip your weapons and armor because you have those on your persons. And technically, as long as you remember where we left things, you guys should have no HP and no stress currently, because this is before that. So I think if if they were just you know, maybe they've th it's after they've had dinner, you know, the curfew is settled over the town. Crance isn't wearing his armor, they're they're relaxing, but knock at the door late at night, unexpected. I think he kind of he draws the his parrying dagger and just kind of flips it around in his hand so that it's it's point down and puts that on the back of the door. And then opens it with the other hand so that he's holding the door with the knife right there, but wouldn't be visible to whoever he's opening it to. Okay. So you open it a crack, you open it all the way. Like you know, five, six inches, like maybe that much. Enough to see out. Okay. Uh why don't you roll a should we make this? This is probably an instinct check to see what you see out the door. I've got oh, that's Chris. Amazing. Here we go again Here we go again. Let's go. Somebody check their dice. Okay. I got I got two fours. That's what I had last time. Nice. So, uh as you open the door, peek out, um the first thing you notice, by the way, make sure you take a hope clear stress. Um, I don't think you have a stress because this is the night before, but Just just to stick with the mechanics, get that in ingrained. Um The first thing you notice when you open the door is a little bit confusing. Y you don't see anyone. And that's strange, because someone just knocked at the door. Like the time from when the knock happened To when you open the door was just enough time to draw your dagger, make your comment to the rest of the party about, oh, I'll get it then, and open the door And you're confused, and off in the distance, um you actually see some movement. It looks like somebody moving away quickly And as you s like like down a hallway? Down a hallway, and then you actually from your doorway can see out the door. of of the inn um and you can actually see that door swing open and then back closed. So You get this because you got a crit. Uh wasn't gonna give this to you, but you see someone having just knocked and then left. And your assumption is that the person who just kind of hustled out had knocked and then left. And then as your eyes are following that person, you notice on the doorstep a note. Uh I think he would be like at the point of yelling out to the retreating figure. But then like eyes would fall on the note and like by the time he bends down to pick the note up and look back up, like the person's gone. Um so he Picks the note up, uh kind of looks both directions down the hallway, see if there's anybody else, and then closes and and locks the door. Turns around to the party with the note up like Anybody n expecting post? I just thought you had ordered room service for yourself and was pretending to not do that. He does the quotes with the claw to not do that They don't have room service good enough for us here. Um Her little like gleaming eyes like look your way. Kinda like a like a cat, um, when they're in the dark spy dark space and a light hits their eyes a certain way and it has like a little little shimmer gleam. She's like, what does it say? Wouldn't you like to know? Kind of waves it a little bit. Yeah, Almathar doesn't care at all. She could she's completely nonplussed by the event. She's just, you know, focusing on sharpening her knife. Okay. Love it. So uh Kranz will open it and uh and read it to the room. Okay. There's only a few words on the note. It says Please come quickly. There is much to discuss. Do not let anyone see you. And the note contains a location you recognize and a name to It is from Key, and the location is her small shop on the other side of town. This is the moment you've waited for. The reason you came to Moring Song. You've spent some time establishing a name for yourself. Trying to get the right kind of attention and avoid the wrong kind. Odd jobs here, small favors there. You've sought the attention of key through back channels Waiting for this letter or something like it. Because you see, this is a city under siege, even if it might not look like it The once peaceful and quiet borough suffered an uprising. And Alecrans, you brought the party here to deal with it. Even if you would not tell anyone else where you gained knowledge of such an event. You know from the notes and from the goings-on about town that if your meeting is discovered, If the guards catch even a whiff of impropriety, Key will be tried for sedition and be jailed or worse. You all, being outsiders with no established name in this town, would likely be executed without trial. There are many streets and alleyways you must cross without being seen, and you know that guards typically patrol all hours of the night to keep the citizens in line. So now I've set the stage. I'm gonna step back a little bit and give you all the reins. There's a meeting. I think after reading the I was gonna say there's a meeting on the opposite side of town. It is why you are here. And getting there will not be easy, but she expects you promptly. I think he'd after reading the note he'd hand it to Morelia. Um kind of side-eyeing her, like, get any whiff off this I did not know how we would get this letter, but seems it's finally happened. Hmm. Time to move then, I think. Uh and and Karanz would go like grab his his you know kind of chainmail gambasin and strap it on and make sure he's all armed up in case this goes sideways. Um you know the watchword here is stealth, but uh, you know, he wants to be ready for a fight if one pops off. We should stick to the shadows. Guess we should follow the U then, huh? Yes, I am uh no stranger to the dark. That's my experience with the case. She's gonna put on a cloak. She's gonna she has like a a kind of nondescript cloak. Okay, perfect. Carathan's going to get up and uh do a downward dog stretch. And make sure the claws are good and flexible and ready to go. Big spray. Big old yawn tongue rolls out a little bit. Yeah. And shakes up, shakes himself, and he's ready to go. So, just to kinda give you expectations for what's about to happen, there's no right way for you to cross this town. There is a basically what I want you to think is that you are in the southeast corner of the town. And you need to get to the northwest corner of the town through streets or whatever direction you May find to get to Key's shop where she is expecting to meet you. Does uh do any of us have prior experience here? Like do we know the layout of the of the town at all? Yes, this is not your first day here. Um you like I said, you have been here for a bit trying to get the attention of key, and that's why this letter is shown up on your door. So, you do know generally like where you are, and you know that if it was broad daylight, it would be a pretty simple walk. from where you are to where key is. However, what you don't know due to not wanting to get into that or get that wrong kind of attention. is you don't necessarily know where guards patrol or what you might encounter along the way. It's been a good uh maybe a couple of decades since uh Morelia has been in Moring Song. Um it was under different leadership at the time. Um and there used to be uh I I don't know if there's another word for like the the sewers or like the the under city, you know portions, but Used to be things happening down there. And she's wondering if it'd be clear for them to travel down now, or if they should just stay above. Oh it's it's been a while. It's like you go back to like a city that you haven't been in a long time and it's changed a lot and you don't really know it as much anymore. As she describes the sewers, I look towards the twins just to see their facial expressions. I'm I'm taking this one in. So Almathar is like, well, why should we why should we go in the sewers when we can become the sewers? So she has a spell called Minor Illusion. Which she's going to use to make it seem like the party is covered in shit. Okay. To try to keep people away. Amazing. Okay. I don't know how it lasts, so I don't know I much about it. Um it looks like I have to succeed on a spell cast roll. Okay. So you have to beat a 10 and your spellcast modifier is instinct, so you add plus three to whatever you roll. Okay. So your odds of getting pretty high. Okay, she she hit it for sure. She hit it. Okay. She got it. I got an eight plus the three. Is that fear or hope? It was with fear. Okay. Alright. I'll note that down. Yeah. Um at this point. So does it smell too? Absolutely. I I mean it says illusion. I feel like like it doesn't specify if it's specifically visual, like just visual. So I feel like if we Oh, it says say visual illusion. Okay, well. I mean, if you wanted to if you wanted to stink, it's not gonna be. I feel like we should smell. I feel like I would like it for us to smell I feel like you don't need an illusion necessarily to stink. So if you're not sure. Okay. So Okay. Just the perception of being smelling. The perception of smelling bad, yes. Mm-hmm. I think Krance would be like he's holding his arms away from his body. Like he's like, oh me, you know how hard it is to find someone that can launder this coast. It's just an illusion, darling. GM, upon entering this town, uh would we have gotten the lowdown of like the town rules like curfew and Stuff like that. Yeah, I think it's like pretty quick you got a trip up. Pretty clear pretty quickly of um anybody stepping out of line and what they define as out of line might not be necessarily what you define as out of line, so Um, if you have been out past sundown, you have been told by a guard to get inside or face the consequences, that sort of thing. So You do have you do have an idea of curfew and you know that it's pretty strict. Okay. Um you go ahead. Sorry. Amitharia, as well as we would like to keep them away with smells and such, we also just do not want to be seen to begin with. She's right, you know. So I mean I could modify the illusion to have us look like I was I I kind of want to give the impression that we're like beggars, essentially, or like you know, indigent, right? Okay. You know, living on the street people essentially. But I I mean I can't I can't mask Um, everybody, it's it has to be close range and no larger than myself, is what it says. Um, so I think I probably would not be able to um cover a dragon. So it's probably just the human people that I could um make illusions on. That is a good idea 'cause like how do you give a curfew to people that are hopeless? You know, they're I mean they're gonna be outside. And if we smell bad, hopefully that will like dissuade them from engaging But I mean of course of of course we don't want to get caught in the first place. Right. Do we have like a I think Crans looking at Arithame to be like Oh, and then he walks over to the bed and just grabs like the the like cover of the bed. Which is, you know, it's a king-size bed because obviously, like he's not sleeping in anything smaller than the the biggest bed he can get. Rips it off and just kind of like whips it over Arithan's body. And hopefully that covers him enough to like kind of look like ah maybe if you don't look too closely, like it could be a pack horse or a a mule or like some kind of you know, do you receive your Cloak slash saddle from from your friend Alecrans. For for the record, he's not climbing on top of him. Just like, oh, he's you know like we'll give it some time. I mean we could we could strap some goods to his back to make it look more More realistic. I I I My friend, it's always time to play blanket forts. I don't like the he he's just under the he hasn't taken the blanket off. He's got it's over his head, he's just Huh. I was I was just gonna I was just gonna jump onto the rooftops and then kinda sort of like maybe grab some pebbles and stuff and help the guards away from you. I doubt they're looking up, right? Like I could I could bound between rooftops while you guys smell Apathar really laid it on you, Krantz. I'm just letting you know right now. You I think Krantz blinked the worst. I'm just saying. Krance blinks and goes, I'm a I'm an idiot. I'm actually an idiot. No, that's that's much better and pulls the cover off of him. It's like you have wings, you can fly up on the rooftops. Yes, yes. I do sometimes have wings, yes. Very much. Uh better better plan. Better plan. We can play blanket for the planner. Okay. Yes. Very good. Very good. Very good. Okay, so we have a pitch for the sewers. We have a pitch for um being uh unhoused, I guess, and needing to be on the street. We have a pitch for the Dragonling on the Rooftops. Are we doing all of them? Some of them a combination I think we should stay together as much as we can, so we should pick one direction and all all four of us go. I will uh I'll be following behind that's in the sewers together or whether that's on the street together with with uh Arithane above us, like maybe helping guide and also distract if necessary. Okay. I am the dragon in the night. I am Fort Blinkett. I think I think Kranz turns to to Morelia though and is like You're the fake keeper. Tell us what you think we should do. And Marelia, I think you had a question about Like the sewers, is that correct? You had a question about that earlier that I don't think we really got to too much. Did you wanna Um, I don't know if it was more of a question or more just she hasn't been here for a good couple decades So sh I mean, she was here when there were people down there. But by the time she left, they weren't there anymore. So she's a little curious. If that would be an open path. Yeah, I think Or if it's not worth the risk. I think that you would remember where the the entrances that you would use would have been. And I think that's something that you could check. Check to see if it's like kind of been like over time, you know, build up so it's not being used potentially. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. Hello Crans. Um we can check to see if there is this path that hasn't been used for some time, but If we get there and find out that it is being used, then we should not. So, with that in mind, let me read the threads. So she's going to come in. Okay. And she's going to ask which way to go? Do we do we stick to the streets? Or do we take The sewers. Which is the best path? Whatever Whatever the threads say the best is, you know. Okay, so for commune, you are gonna roll a number of d6s equal to your spellcast trait, which I believe is knowledge, so three of them. Yeah Well, I should get more D sixes right now. I've got one, so um What does it look like when she does this by the way? I was gonna ask what what it looks like and what she hears. Or I guess she doesn't necessarily hear something. That depends on the role. Actually. So I guess my question was, can you give us a you don't have to tell us everything, but give us a little more detail of what or who or What are you communing with? That's a good question. and what the experience is like for your party who asked you a question and then you started doing this ritual um in front of uh presumably in front of them, you could have gone to a different room because you don't want to be witnessed, you know? That's your choice. Um W whatever it is, Kranz is gonna be creeped out. He's gonna he's gonna sidleb up against Almithar and be like, oh he's Weirds me out what she does this. And yeah, I never really thought about this is above the table. Never really thought about what uh it looks like to anyone around her or if they can even uh like perceive any of it. I I always just thought it was like her own like I don't know, like she could see into like a different plane kind of thing. Okay. Is it just that that that brings up an interesting point though maybe the more the higher she rolls, the more she gets out of it, right? So maybe it also kind of becomes more apparent I think at the very least, if you are standing completely still, staring off into the distance in a group of people, they're pr they're probably gonna be like Well, this is unsettling. So I I think like you can flavor it however you want. We don't have to necessarily go over that now, but like Um just let me roll and see what it'd be and then I'll I'll flavor it around that. I I don't think there's gonna be any issue here 'cause the first roll's a six and that's you know Do you wanna stop you you wanna stop rolling? We don't have to keep rolling. That's the highest you can go. Um Okay So, on a six, you physically experience a scene relevant to the answer as if you were there. And your question was, which path should we take? Yes. Above ground or below ground. Okay. So um You ask this question in your mind, and nothing changes around you physically, but to your eyes. It almost looks like the the strings of a harp being plucked all around you. And I think for a moment you hear the noises of like a finger being run down a harp. And then run back up. And you can see the vibrations in everything around you. And in one of those vibrations, your eyes focus in. Maybe not even your physical eyes, but your vision, I guess, focus focuses in. And in that vibration, in the the moving back and forth of this one particular string. You see the party moving to the sewers, the entrance that you remember. And you see that the entrance to the sewer looks clear. You look around. You don't see anything. You remove the the cover on the entrance. It's not really a door. I don't want to use the word door, but it's like a cover that people would use. Yeah, yeah, that could that that's great. Uh sorry, that was accidental pun. Um uh so you you remove the grate, you lift it up. And guards converge on you from all directions at once And then just like that, the strands are gone, and you're back in the room with your party. Are are you staring off into the distance? Just like or are you staring off more towards the ground? I'd say she's not looking at anything in particular, um, not at least with that role. Um But she's definitely looking into like a different space there. Um Let's say her the the light of her her pupil, right? It just it kinda like clouds over. So that that's like a physical way to know that she's not I don't even know if she can hear s like hear feel anything when she's in those maybe feel, but um Definitely not seeing what's hap what's happening um in the real world kind of thing. Um so she she gets out of that, breaks out of that, she says, Well We should not take the sewers. Seems like they are operational. Um Alleyways it is. I do want to check on one thing based on the smile on Fate's face. Were you doing something in the background while she was having this vision? No, the second she has that vision and makes that statement of we don't go to the sewers, I'm I peer closer into the wood green that she is not staring at, but obviously staring at. All that from the wood grain. Wise oaks. Wise oaks indeed. I don't get it. Perfect. Well, I think the last thing we need to do is settle on a marching order. Aurelia, you'll be leading, I'm assuming. Yeah, I'll uh I'll f I'll lay the path, I suppose. And then Kranz turns to Amithard and goes, Age before beauty. And waves her ahead of him so that he could bring up the rear. She she rolls her eyes at him. But she she she goes she follows him. Or sorry, she goes first, yeah. It's fine. Nobody's ever gonna know which twin is older. Is that correct? Nobody's ever gonna No, no one's gonna know. I don't think they even know, actually, technically I think maybe they were told different things from different family members. So I think that's exactly what I mean. Whatever was politically beneficial at the time. Right, what the fuck? Right, right. Whoever they wanted to suck up to at the time. Yeah. That's right. It was used as used as a wedge. Um but I think Krans would would clap Aerathan on the shoulder and say I think it's time for you to become a second story man. And kind of uh nods his head up at the roof as they're stepping out into the shadows. Um maybe give us a whistle if we should stop. Working on it. Oh shit. I forgot I can't whistle. Like as he's going up to the roof, like oh I forgot I can't whistle. I pick up a few rocks. I will be practicing whistling on my out to the top. Okay. Perhaps like a bird of the night noise. Something natural. I think we're uh we're sneakin'. Okay. So as you as you exit the inn, um you open the door. Can we exit the window? Uh I don't think Aerathain can exit the window, but if you don't want to go out the front door, we definitely could do that. Is there like a back entrance to this place? Um, I would say you you guys are on the second floor. Uh so kind of like there's the tavern down below, and then there's the stairs up to your room. And You could definitely go out the window, but there's not a fire escape or anything. Um down In the main level, there are multiple entrances. The back exit through the tavern would be kind of the exit where the the bartender would would use and stuff like that. That's more of an employee situation, but it's definitely something you could investigate. Kranz makes sure to bring the note. He like tucks that into his uh his gambus and rolls it up and makes sure that's secure. Um And then as they're s as they step out into the hallway, like they're trying to be quiet, right? Because there's other people sleeping and trying out to rouse suspicion. So he leans over and really safe to back. I think perhaps we have Erithe and leave the back. While we go out the window. Yeah, food in the back. I'm okay with that. Okay. So, Arathane, if you would like to move through the kitchen, which is this back area, this is a place where they store a lot of pots and pans and dishes. And I would like to see if you are able to finesse your way out of this room without knocking anything over and making a loud clatter to start us off. Sounds amazing and I will have advantage for this because I am light footed due to my community Wildborn. Alright. Yay, Wildborn buddies. Oh I need to add a D6. That will be currently a sixteen with hope. 16 with hope is more than enough to to avoid the bull in the china shop situation that could have befell you as you you know at one point I think maybe one of your scales kind of grazes a across like the big pot the big pot that they make the stew in. And if if it's part of my tail I chastise it. Okay. My tail just waggles a little bit. I'm I'm definitely being more of like a snake through a china shop than a bull through a shina china slithering through. Just like a little shuffle. Maybe maybe if I can take a little piece of meat that might be hanging on a thing, I might grab a little snack on my way out I think it's pretty easy to to steal some meat on your way out. I think that's pretty easy to do. So it's not gonna make sure. Alright. Alright, so you make it out the back door. Rest of the party is as of right now. Still kind of in the the main tavern area. So So With her uh Morelia's abilities to use fines for various entangle and strangling uh reasons Could she just use them as like a way of like almost like a a ladder to climb down? Not like forming a ladder necessarily, but just like a thick cord of like rooted vines. Um just giving them maybe little footholds and things to to get down. So you're not exiting through the tavern. You're gonna try to go out the the window of your Like you're not exiting through the the main level, you're gonna exit out of your room's window, is that correct? That's that's the goal. I'm trying to avoid drawing attention through the the main thoroughfare. It'd be really funny if I just put all of the guards that I had planned. I would look outside and be like so Um yeah, I want you to be able to do cool things with abilities. So let's set a DC for this to see if you are able to do this in the way that you hope. I am going to we're gonna skip that because I am going to use um how many people do we have? Four? So I'm going to spend right here. Okay, so I'm gonna spend three three hope. to do wall walk for everybody. Oh. Wall walk. Um so it allows a creature you touch to climb on walls and ceilings as easily as walking on ground. So I'm gonna give that to all the people in the party. I'm gonna spend three hope and do that Nice. There you go. What does it look like when people will walk? Are is it perpendicular? Is it like Tom Cruise on every Mission Impossible movie? What are we what are we looking at when we see people use your wall walk? I mean it says climb. I would say it probably the the way people do it is probably reflective of their own personal dexterity and characteristics and how they would interact with like the environment. So if they're naturally graceful, they would probably do it in a graceful way. And if they were, you know, kind of clumsy You know? So I'm I'm I'm guessing if they can climb, they can probably like e just as easily walk down if they wanted to. Um so I would say it depends on the person. Okay Like a spider climb. Yeah, if you want to climb like Spider-Man or if you want to just go completely like horizontal and just walk down the wall, you could do that. Okay. So, Almathara helps you all out the window to the back. As you do this You bump into Aerethan, who just went out the back door. And you are also Yeah, he is chewing something, oddly. And you're all now outside of the tavern. You look around. Evenly made it out of the the the tavern, the inn, whatever you want to call it, without drawing any attention to yourself so far. And so this is still active until the scene is over. So I'm assuming if if if we're going along and we see a guard, we could use it. to, you know, go up a building and try to hide if we wanted to. Heck yeah. I'm cu I'm curious about one one thought about the ability and I'm curious we can we can discuss this. Do you think you can give it to everyone? Like, I my assumption would be spend a hope to allow a creature you can Touch to climb on walls and ceilings as easily as walking on the ground. This lasts until the end of the scene or you cast well walk again. One person would have it. I think if you wanna be if you wanna be super technical about it, but if if I'm casting it all at the same time, if I'm touching all three of them at the same time, I would think that that was casting at once. If I touched one, cast it, touched another one, then I would not be able to do it. That would have to touch everybody at the same time. Maybe we like all get into a circle and like hold hands or something like that Okay. Okay. I feel like we could do something like that to kind of circumvent the the technicality of it. Okay. So if you if you if you think that's okay. Okay. Wellside. Now they're all outside. It's quiet. Following the darkest places we can. Okay. So the route you have a couple routes. Um the city is kind of Best way I can describe it is a little bit like a is it like a hub and spokes type thing where there's like a town square and then there's streets branching off in all different directions. Radial Yeah, there's not exactly a it's not like you can take one street directly there, so you're gonna be making some choices on which way to go and uh deciding there, but Just from your experience in the town and from the fact that it's really not like a complicated place, you'll pretty much always know which direction you are heading. Do is so I know like it being like kind of like a radial or like a spoke thing, every couple of blocks I guess you'll be hitting a road again, but in terms of the cluster of buildings and houses and things. Mm-hmm. Is it a decent enough plot of buildings that you can walk across the rooftop for a good stretch before going back down on the street, going to just a way to like stay off the street, I guess. Like Hmm. Partly there. Does that make sense? Yeah, so we could the the buildings are Close, but there are quite a few gaps between them where if you were to travel across the rooftop, you would be jumping from roof to roof. So it it wouldn't just be as simple as get up to the roof, walk straight there, and then you're done. Um so if you do decide to go the roof route, there will be There will be some some potential for falling. There's potential for falling, um making noise. There will be rolls to determine if you are able to travel across the rooftop stealthily. But there'll also be roles to see if you're able to do things on the ground stealthily, so I will pick up um Let's say a handful, let's say six rocks off the ground. Okay, six rocks. And I will make my way up to a rooftop. Okay. Um do you wanna set uh the uh weather or are we setting the weather? You can set the weather within reason. Oh. What is this about? I suspect it's not like full moon, maybe maybe fairly cloudy, dark, uh potential with a little bit of every once in a while a moon ray may hit It's some section that you kind of sort of need to be a little bit aware of as it goes back back and forth between clouds Um, my intention when I'm up top will be to move with the sound of the waves at this port city to help reduce the sound that's happening. So as the Waves come in, that's when I move. Where it's probably the loudest in the area to move when when it's most opportune for me to move at the rooftop. Okay. Sounds good. How how built up is Mooringstone? Is it is it like are we talking gravel roads? Is it dirt roads? Are the buildings Yeah cobblestone is are the buildings like um built up to the point where we would expect to see like torches at at intersections or is it just kind of um wherever you know wherever someone might personally want like in their business or their home might want to have a torch outside. Is it gaslight? Like how's the how's the city? How's this town lit? That's a great question. So I think it depends on what area of the town you are in. Obviously, a lot of the business happens closer to the port. And I think that would be more The ground would be smoother, easier to move across quietly the closer you get to the port. Unfortunately, the port is the opposite direction of where you're headed This this inn, this tavern is kind of right down by you by the port, and you're moving the opposite direction to try to get to a business that was At one point, much more of a hobby for a person who was not royalty exactly, but um related to a like a an important person. Um and she she had a business as a way to keep herself busy and um kind of express herself and that has kind of changed in recent months. So it was never it was never like a big moneymaker, I guess is the point that I'm getting to. It was never Like, it it wasn't a business that did anything with the port. It was just something that that she enjoyed and something that she built to have something of her own as a person who is related to local nobility, I guess it were, which, you know, I imagine a few a few of the party can relate to to having something of your own when your parents are Um, of means, we'll say. So um So So not not in like the the busy mercantile Part of the town. Right, yeah. So the further you get that that way, uh maybe like kind of the the the rougher the roads are and the Maybe less lit, but there are businesses, you know, businesses have lights out front because Um There are guards patrolling around and I think guards have kind of enforced the do this for us because we're keeping you safe even if what they're doing is almost exactly the opposite. It's a little bit of a strong arm Type of help that they're providing. So yeah, I mean y you are definitely you're definitely able to pick streets based on kind of How silently you can move on them and stuff like that. Do we know why there's a curfew? Was there like a precipitating event that made them lock down the town? Or is it something we haven't discovered yet? Hmm, why don't we do give me a give me a knowledge roll and see if maybe you know about that. Okay. While she's doing that, um since we're still kind of discussing how we're gonna go about, I wanted to ask Eretheon. Um, I guess just above the table right now, just so we can talk it out. Um, would it be okay if Morelia rode on your back? As you're flying above. She could be the communicator I I won't. If we see something. You would have to be able to do that. But I do not have a problem if you'd like to ride on my back. If you uh if you offer that before I head up. Right. That way if we do see anything that be in the twins way, I could Use my little communication and give him a warning, be like, oh go that way. Just as a fair warning, if you're gonna be riding on his back The the difficulty will probably be higher for moving across the rooftop silently. So that's just one of the things that I'm going to do. Oh. Uh while you guys while you guys think on that a little bit, uh I saw a facial expression when you rolled that. Dais, am I am I about to tell you something? Am I about to give you something? I I mean I got a twenty with hope, so I feel like you should probably tell me something Okay. Once just once when I'm a while. When it matters. When it truly matters, we're gonna do that. Some someday, I mean I guess this this whole campaign did start with a confident three, so Confident three, that's true. There is that. Uh okay, so as you uh as you are thinking about what you've heard You realize that everything you've seen of how this town is currently being run is about control and making the people subservient. So it's a little bit like A little bit like mob rule almost of like the the thugs that come into the business and say, oh hey, you owe us $200 for protection. But what they're saying is if you don't pay us this money, um all of a sudden you're gonna find yourself on on the the wrong end of not protection. So uh the reason the curfew is in place is simply to discourage anybody from stepping out of line and just making lives worse for people. I I mean it's not really anything more specific than that. It's just Bad like an occupation. Right. Bad bad people currently like rule this place and you you know this because you've heard Not people talking really audibly about it, but you've just kind of picked up those whispers that the people who are dealing with a bad situation kinda have to get out from time to time and in your in your general goings on, in your those odd jobs that we talked about earlier that you've done, um, you know, helping people with this or that. You've just caught a little whiff of the the displeasure that everybody has with who's in charge. So Okay, thank you. Mm-hmm. Above table, how long has Morelia been with us so far at this point? Where are we? In the timeline. I don't think that's for me to decide. I will say you all are currently level four So that does imply that you've been together. I mean, assuming that you gained those levels together, it would imply that you've been together for a decent amount of time. But I I am Then I will go ahead and say that you have traveled with us, you have seen when you have the thought of can I ride Aratheon? You are pretty sure he will say, Yeah, sure. Go ahead, let's do this, right? Could be totally on board, but you do recall previous times in which Kranz has requested That I carry help him carry his armor while we travel from town to town every once in a while. And that armor does not come back the way he hands it to Aeratheon. It it may be a little bit more scratched. It may be definitely finesse you'll you will understand that finesse is not a It's not a horrible thing, but it's not a very strong thing for him. Okay. Doesn't doesn't always come back complete. Sometimes it comes back missing pieces. So the idea crosses her mind, she's like, oh, that could be like strategic, right? But then she thinks about the potential of potentially falling, right? Um And then that's causing more problems. So the thought enters her head and then just swiftly leaves her head. She's like, nah, it's I'll stick to the stick to the shadows and I kinda hoped you were gonna go with that. I thought that was gonna be a good one. I bet you did. We could have had a lot of fun there. We could have. So Krance Krance looks around and kinda hisses like Hey, the longer we're out here, the better chance we get caught we should move. I am actually gonna use this moment to tell you that I do have a countdown set up. And I have ticked it down one. How many ticks are there, GM? I started it out of six. Okay. I will be overwatching them and um either I will throw stones to help distract guards. Okay. Potentially at any moment, but I'm a little bit I'm sort of but I'm above them, but I'm sorta behind them. I'm gonna wait for them to move up and then I position myself into the next area, see what I see. And then use a stone to help guide our way or something. Kind of thing. Okay. Sounds good. I love that. Alright. How are out of curiosity You have a lot of different paths that you could take. Okay. How are you gonna be sure that Arithayan knows which direction that you plan to go when you have a choice between left or right, for example? How is his sense of smell? Ooh. I I do have an experience say, hey, can you smell that? Um and and Kranz does stink rather horribly right now. Pretty bad. Yeah. Why is it only me? I mean you smell the worst. I think that um almathire probably intentionally made you smell the worst. Establish lore It's we that's very on brand. Yeah. Can we potentially see Arithayan like crane his neck over the edge and kind of just like Give us a little a little point in the direction that seems the clearest. And then something changes. Most uh most times. Yeah, using the smellometer. Okay. Yeah. And then and then when I have to like cross big gaps, it's like Batman I'm like I'm g I'm getting a little bit what what I'm trying to narrow down is is he following you or is he leading you? I think I think Morelia is leading. So I thought Morelia was on the roof. So no no. Morelia's on the ground. She's gonna be she's gonna be leading the the ground put traffic on the ground. How I'm imagining it is Arithan is yes above on the rooftops and he's gonna be like throwing rocks to distract guards in the moment that if we need to make a crossing Like that way it will turn the guard's head right to look the other way while we while we do that crossing. That's how I'm imagining it as like a little crossover and like Working together just we we move to a section, I scan the area to see if there's anything going, and then I see where you guys go next and I adjust to that and then move to the next area. Okay. So I'm I'm following, but I'm I'm also assisting trying to give them heads up per each big move we do Alright, fair enough. So, we're at the back of the tavern. Uh stepping up well, not stepping out, because I guess you're kind of climbing out of the back of the tavern straight ahead of you, off in the distance, there's obviously more buildings in between you and the water, but you are facing the port currently. You are, as you exit the tavern, you are essentially facing the exact opposite direction of where you are headed. So, right now you can go around two different sides of the tavern because you're going to need to get around this building to get on to like you're kind of in a back alley right now And you're going to need to get around the building to get at least started in the direction that you're going. Wanna see how we're determining which way we're going around this building So the Aurelia is leading. The port's leading to the port is like south. Like we're in the southeast quadrant. The water, I guess, is like also south. So If we're facing the water, we need to turn right. You can turn right or just to make sure. You're in you're kind of in the southwest. You're going to the northeast. I might have said that backwards last time. Sorry if I got that backwards. Southwest going to the northeast and the the ports, the the main the main uh port is further southwest from you and where your head a is northeast. So if you turn directly around you'd be staring at a wall essentially, but you'd be facing the way that you need to go. I'm still gonna say uh right. Okay. Go go right around. Okay. So, are you checking? Are you walking? Are you sneaking? Yeah, so when coming up upon like corners and things, right? I'm gonna say I'm peeking around every single corner, right? I'm not gonna just gonna whee, we're just gonna keep going. Slowing down. So yeah, slowly. So we're coming around the corner of the tavern. Um this is kind of an area since it's the the back um and not really a a street that people are using other than for like the the entrance for employees. at the tavern. Not a lot of light here, so why don't you give me an instinct check as you peer around the corner? Okay. Also quick question. I also as a wildborn I have light foot, so movement naturally silent. I have an advantage on roles to move without being heard. Okay. Is that like just a separate check for times. Like I don't know when that comes into play. If I ask you for uh basically a stealth check, we'll give you an advantage on that. So you said instinct? Yep. Trying to see if you can see anything that would cause you to not go this direction. When do I add my experience? Is that Um if you have an experience that applies, you can spend a hope to add it. Okay. So for No Stranger to the Dark in terms of being able to see or just sense that you're there's a a person Yeah, you spend a lot you spend a lot of your life in the shadows, so you're used to navigating them, you're used to peering into them. You look often into the darkness and sometimes it looks back. Oh. So Yeah. I'm just gonna go ahead and say I'm gonna spend a hope to add plus three for No Strength of the Dark. Okay. Wall. Oh my gosh. Okay, that's a 14 plus 1 is 15, plus 3 is 18. Okay, with Take away that hope. Wait, with oh that is a fear. Ooh, delicious. Thank you. Uh yes. You look around the corner and as you peer, pretty hidden right now. You see three guards not facing you, but um so you're behind the tavern, you see three guards walking. along the the street that would essentially be across the front of the tavern and they are walking so you're wow this is crazy to think about. Okay. Imagination. So they are walking the opposite direction they'd be walking past where you'd go in the front of the tavern eventually. Does that make sense? So if you were standing in front of the tavern they would be walking straight towards you, but because you're behind the tavern They're just gonna be walking past where you are. They are going left to right in this case. And you are on the left side of the tavern. Peering peering out. Was my understanding. I guess you could be You did say turn right and I wasn't sure if that was facing the back of the tab. Okay, okay. So they're going from the farther part closer to the tavern, passing the front. Right, yes. They are they are crossing two and then presumably past the tavern. Um but you might you wouldn't be able to see that from where you were. There are three bladed guards Um while we're at it, Erithan, you're on the roof right above these guards. Let me roll to see if they uh see if you make any noise as you get settled on the roof peering down. This would be able to use your Wild born, since you are light footed. We are doing a finesse. Yeah, it'd be a finesse roll. That would be a critical success. Shh. Let's go. Double three. That's two already. Okay. So you get a hope clear stress and you are the knight. Your friends for a moment forget that you're up there. You're so quiet. I forget that I'm up here. I'm that quiet. Sounds good. Where am I? What am I doing? I guess the question is. These guards are about to walk past you. On the other side of the building. Yeah, let 'em pass. Sounds good. Yeah, once they once they like pass around the um out of sight. Um She begins just walking forward, right? She's already um she's already light footed, right? So and she's in the dark. So it's hard to look from a like a light area to a dark area anyways, unless you got like really good vision. But I'm not gonna make you roll stealth. a ton. There might be some moments where it comes up, but I'm not gonna make you do it all the time. So you you don't have to be attempt to be super quiet at this moment. So once they pass, she l peeks out Make sure there's no another wave of them coming and then they're not just suddenly turning around. Um Is it pretty far to get to the next uh alley after crossing this intersection? It's gonna be it's gonna be a little bit of distance to get to the next Next uh segment of darkness and uh Arithaan on the rooftop is going to have to kind of make one of either a jump or a small flight to get to the next roof Um he rolled really well for for stealth, so I'm not gonna make him him roll that again. But uh yeah, you you you you you are confident With that perception role and with uh with Erithan's finesse role that you you can make it to the next segment of darkness. It's it's between kind of two other businesses That you don't really know what they are. Um you could maybe stop and take a look to see what they are, but I don't really think it's super relevant. Um So, yeah, you can make it there. You can make it there. Okay. With a little like more, I guess, haste than a a slow walk, right? Okay. I'd say they they cross unless If you guys have any like abilities, please just I'm just sending us forward until something else that we wanna do Once they're across I think we're crossing as quickly and quietly as we can. Once once they're across, I will peer over um and just check areas out to see if there's any guards coming. on what o see what options are laid before them and see if there's anything coming in though any of those directions in which we're about to move for the next section. Yeah, absolutely. So just to kind of give you some context about where you're going, you probably have like four or five sections. total where you have to cross um in terms of like sneaking past guards and that sort of thing. Just from your knowledge of the town having been here before, especially Marillia and You you all have spent a few days here at this point. You know vaguely the amount of distance that it is and how many how many streets you have to cross, and it's not too many, but you do have you do have some distance to cross. So uh Aerathein on the rooftop kind of peering over to see if he sees any guards at the next section as you guys are pushed up against the wall. Is that correct? Correct. Okay. And I realize that just kind of of the way this is laid out you guys are gonna be rolling a pretty decent amount i'm not gonna make you you know we didn't roll a ton last time we're gonna be rolling a lot more this time but we're we're trying to perceive we're trying to sneak we're maybe doing some agility and things like that that so it's gonna be a little bit more roll heavy this this go around so just uh you know bring on the math rocks I mean people people like rolling dice I just you know it's gonna be a little bit more it's gonna be a little bit more intense this time so Erithane peering over the edge, feet kinda hanging at the very edge of her roof. Give me an instinct check. And if you crit again, I swear, I'm fine in the new party. He's done it before. I will not be using what's uh because of Kranz's overwhelming smell and the sea air. I don't think I'm gonna be able to use, hey, can you smell that here? Mm-hmm in this situation. So I won't be using that experience at all. Okay. Makes sense. That would be a 16 with hope. You peer over the edge. And this street that your friends need to cross Seems to be clear. Whatever patrol the guard is on, you don't really know their routes, you don't know what their plans are. To be honest. From what you've seen of how this town is managed, you're not even really totally convinced that the guards have routes, so much as just a bunch of armed guys that walk around intimidating people at night. One thing that I do want to point out is you don't see anyone else. So We talked a little bit earlier about like disguising as people that might be on the streets at night anyway, but you don't see anyone like that. And I will toss one of my six rocks at Morelia's feet. Okay. She she looks up to him. Well I I gesture with my head in a sense of up No, I'm not saying no, sorry, I'm not saying no. I I look at you and I just I do like I do like a I do like a Okay, so I can see you're like you're using your nose to like point a a direction. Yeah, uh I'll I'll yes. Are you pointing straight northwest from where you are? Or are you? I would I would I would suggest To go towards the quickest route. Okay. That makes sense. Alright. So you're gonna move further, if you're following his advice, further towards the center of town. Okay. Okay. Yes. Okay. She kinda looks back, nods, and they continue on. Alright. Uh Air Than, you have another leap to do across rooftops. This is an agility check to to get to the next roof. Okay. You might having to fly a little bit. That's up to you. I will fly a little bit. Okay. And use my born to fly experience. Can you tell us about what born to fly is? Oh sorry, excuse me. Um sorry, can you tell us about how your flight works? Does it require anything? Um no it does not require. I just uh you can fly. While flying you can do the following. I can mark a stress to do something and spin a hope to do something Look, I can just fly. Alright. Sounds like we don't need an agility check if you're just flying from roof to roof then. Okay Uh if it if it's a big gap, I will I will uh I will fly. Um if it is something that is because I mean it's a 10-foot wingspan, right? Like that's that can be noticeable if I'm flying When the light of a moon comes out, so I am trying to take that into consideration of only flying when cloud cover is optimal for me type situations. Suddenly a bunch of leaves and dust go pfft over to the side. What was that? I I I d yeah. Yeah. Alright, that sounds good. I mean you do have your natural or light footed And I think that would also apply to your flying. I think it would be you had to have at least a bonus to attempting to fly stealthily. And you also just rolled really well, so we're gonna skip the roll this time, and you're going to To take off and lay. I'm gonna do a little spin. I'm gonna do a little spin. Okay. Are we talking like corkscrew? Head over tail or a barrel roll? Got it. Okay. A barrel. I'm gonna do a barrel roll. Do a barrel roll. Slippy. Anyway, that way that way I get a little bit more a little bit more speed, but I tuck in so I can get that distance without having to like really w set my wings out. Okay. Make it to the next rooftop easily enough. Uh really notices. that and she's like yeah no you could have been on the ride with nah you could have been on the tride weapon which we're just saying that would have been a fun one if you were up there ooh buddy Okay, so you cross the street on the rooftops. What are we doing from there? The the rest of the party has not moved or have they followed when he moved? I I think we move when he moves. Okay. Alright. You move when he moves. Okay. So he moves, you cross the street. I mean where about Well I so I think I I wanted to do this at some point, but while they are in kind of the shadows, like they they make it into the next shadowed area. Um Crans would would lean over to Omithar and go Hey. That was really pretty good. The wall walking. Uh I never know how to keep my center of gravity when you do that, and it always kinda makes me want to throw up a little bit, but it was really smart And he's gonna use a soldier's bond, which is uh once per rest. I get to compliment someone or ask them about something they're good at, and they get and they both gain three hope. Oh wow. So Maybe a rare moment of a rare time that Kranz is willing to compliment his sister. Um, but I wanted to you to get some help back for that smart move. That's a lot of hope to be honest. That's a lot of hope. Yeah. I only get to do this once once per long rest. So I got to pick my spots. I got I have all my hope back. So, you cross this next street, you get to this next intersection, and something about the layout of the town kind of dawns on you. And you notice that the closer you're getting to the center of the town, the The more patrolled it is. As you get to the center of this this this town square, this hub in the center of town. You don't see anyone, but you start to hear the sound of people wearing metal armor walking more frequently. And you realize that part of the control. That these people are asserting over the town is that really focused on the center of the town? In the center of the town, there's like this giant beautiful tree as a part of a monument. Monument to uh one of the one of the old gods and they have So many more guards in this area in the center than they do kind of back further in the in the outskirts where where the tavern that you stayed was So, I'm telling you that to present you with a couple choices. First of all, if you try to go straight through the town square Arithaan is not gonna have a lot of rooftops to move across. And you're gonna have to figure out what w what way You could definitely land on their holy tree and and see what happens. So you should try to whistle at some point. Um so You are able to move through the town square, but it is going to be more populated, and that means that there is going to be a higher difficulty to try to do that. You're also able to Move along the outskirts more in the shadows, but then you're just gonna have to make some different decisions about other things. I just wanted to kind of present that as what you're facing at this moment because you're getting closer to the center and you start to hear Not even just the sound of the the guards walking in their armor and things like that, but you're starting to hear the chatter between them because they're moving in patrols. And those patrols are probably people who spend evenings walking and talking together. And so you hear some people talking. Are we going straight through the town square or are we gonna try to skirt around the sides? Sides will take longer, but might have a better chance of avoiding things if you go through the center. It's the quickest route. But Arathane is not gonna be able to do it on the rooftop, that's for sure. Morale is of the opinion of sticking to the shadows at all costs. Not getting noticed. Cause if we get caught, that's just gonna slow us down. Right? Yeah. Yeah. So Okay. So you're gonna go around the outside? Yeah, keep skirt skirting around. Okay. So from there you're headed straight northwest. You're going to go, eh, whatever, take your pick. One of the two directions around the town square. You can go right or left from where you are. And we are actually going to Yeah, we're just gonna we're gonna go ahead and do another another check as you come up to that next corner that you're gonna take. And I will let either Morelia or Erathan do a check to see if you see anything. Aurelia's turn. Okay. Um I'm gonna just keep using a hope to do the No Stranger in the Dark, because I don't trust what role is gonna come next. So I'm glad I did, cause it could have been better. So that's gonna be eight plus one nine plus three twelve. Plus two. Huh? I'm gonna throw a paradise your way. You're gonna feel a little inspired as I'm staring staring at you. I'm watching you make your decision. Okay. That's 14 with fear. As you peer around the corner, you see another set of three guards. And as you're looking, you're kind of hidden in the shadows. They are walking right towards you. Okay, okay. Uh she kinda brings her head back in from the the corner, looks back. There's three guards on their way toward us now. Um And you know what, I feel like having some fun as the GM. So I'm gonna spend one of my fears. And as you turn around to tell To tell your party that, you notice past them, the other direction you could have choose chosen to go. Uh-huh. Two more guards. Walking towards you from that direction. So um Almi's going to like motion like up and then she's gonna start like climbing the wall, like facing outward, like backwards. Slit like quietly and like motion. For everyone for everyone to join her. Okay. Okay. Crawl up. Yeah. Okay. Double check something about that ability. Okay. Alright. I am gonna say that because three of you are climbing a wall with five guards walking towards you We're gonna need to make that a group action role for the three of you and see if you are able to do that stealthily. Is that one person role or every person role then Group action role is kinda like how we started the campaign where you pick one of you to be the leader and then the result of the other people's dice uh either add or subtract from your role. So on authority? Okay. I mean, hey, I'm the birth of the competent three. I shit. This is your climbing ability too? That's true. That's true. Well it's who's who's got we're looking at a finesse roll? Do I I have plus I have plus two to finesse. Do I see this happening? Uh with the with the five guards I think you can see the guards? It depends on which direction you think you were looking. Were you were you looking at the like I would assume you would have been looking at the teleport? Yeah. I'd be looking towards where we're going to to to next. So I guess I'd see the first three guards. But wouldn't know about the guards. Yeah. Uh the the reason I wa why I asked is I do have these other rocks. Can I am I able to also assist in this group role Or to throw a rock to help distract, potentially. Which would you like to do? Would you like to join the would you like to join the group role or would you like to do your own role to throw a rock to see if you can get them to turn around? I want to be part of the confident three's fourth wheel. Okay, perfect. Alright, so sounds like Almathar is leading this this group role as you are attempting to silently scale up the wall as five guards are converging on you. Okay. Uh it's I got a twelve with hope. Okay. So first of all, take a hope. You get to you get to add that hope. I'm full. Can I I can't just give it to someone else, right? Just have so much hope. You can you cannot. Okay. Alright. Um I need to see I need to know what everybody else got. Oh. Is this finesse again? This is finesse again. Uh I got a Kranz has a that's 17, 18, 19 with fear. Okay. For the the rest of you, I don't think I don't think you need to worry about hope or fear, but I think it's just straight. Seventeen. Eighteen. Oh, nice guys. I feel like that's a pretty good group role. It gets us if if each if if Arithane, Morelia, and Kranz's rolls count as a plus one. It gets us up to 15. Get up to 15 with hope. That was the DC that I was setting. For for your action as you scuttle up the wall Um you see are you going all the way to the roof? Are you just hanging on the side of the wall? I mean I feel like we're high as yeah, we don't have a lot of time is the only thing, because they're right on us. I'd say we get as high as we can and stop when we can see them. So Yeah, like trying to try to get above like normal Right, like like normal field of vision, like where people, you know, it's basically like playing Overwatch. No one's gonna look up at Farah. Like that's It's dark out, like it's dark out. Like they're not checking for bats, they're checking for people. You think no one's expecting someone to just see like a person hanging off the side? Okay, alright. You know what? You've made a compelling point, I'll allow that. Um So as you are precariously just kind of perched on the side of the wall. You look down. And you see this group of three guards and this group of two guards essentially walk right up to each other. And you can hear from where you are that an argument starts to break out. Because the group of three guards is like, hey, we're watching this street. And the the group of two guards is like, this is our street. And you really get the impression at this point, as you're listening to this, that there's just it's just a free-for-all of just people with big egos. trying to to step on people who are who are beneath them. And there's really no sense of like hierarchy or anything like this between all of these people. And so you you are hanging on the side of this wall. What feels like a really long time as they have this argument of like this is our street, no, this is our street. Why don't you guys go that way? We just came from that way. And they have this entire argument. And then they cross paths. And the breath that you've all been holding You're able to let out. We can't aggravate them to fight each other, can we? Like with a pebble or something? Like I'll tell you what, you can absolutely try that if you would like. Dude, that that thought was was in my mind. I mean I don't think that I would probably do, but I mean we do have a rooftop in I mean I don't I don't think the the correct choice is always the most interesting choice. So you guys do what you want to do. The correct choice is wild. Anyway. I don't want to do it after that after the correct choice speech. DM wants it. I'm I'm just happy that hope and fear didn't matter in that last role for me. I'm not gonna lie to you. I was planning on those guards seeing you, so you guys got insanely lucky. So lucky. I mean it must be our second crossing, right? Out of four you said? I think that's third. Third? I mean I guess my question also is did they smell us? Oh no Hold on, I'll I'll roll for scent. The other the other group smells. Well right. Oh man. What did you eat for lunch? Yeah, as they as they walk away, they're like, did you smell those guys? Jesus! Oh my god. But no, I mean I I did roll decently well, actually, but no. I I It's fine. I don't I don't wanna I don't wanna I thought about rolling to see if they would look up to see you, but you guys had just passed the group action roll, so that felt a little unfair. So You know, it doesn't doesn't feel great for you like, hey, you succeeded on the group action role and also Yeah, we're gonna check it again. They look right up and see you. Surprise, you actually lost. So try not to try not to make those moments. But You have crossed, well, you're at your third crossing essentially, and two groups of guards have moved by you. Those were the only groups of guards that you saw. Think we hit the ground running then? Yeah, I look at our fearless leader. Literally running? I mean quietly running. We move we're trying to move quickly and I think we just burned a whole lot of time waiting for them to argue themselves out. Okay. So back down to the ground. I'm not gonna make you re-roll to get back down silently, that doesn't make sense. So back down to the ground rather than up to the roofs, is that correct? Yes. Correct. Back down to the ground. Erithane stays on the roof. You cross to the next intersection. I think let's have this time Narrathan, why don't you take a look? See what you see. That will be another seventeen with fear. Not the fear. God. We're pumping so much fear right now. I love having this much fear, by the way. You guys basically never fail a roll, which is weird But um, you know, I I'm not setting like the world's easiest difficulties. I didn't give you a hard one on on wall climb or whatever it was called because Because that one was was based on an ability, Wolwalk. Um, but you peer over the edge, Aeratheon. And since you've avoided the center of the town and kind of the more the more populated guard area and also a little bit brighter, just because it's just the nature of the town square is that it's a little bit brighter. Um you don't really see anything in these shadows. Um also amazingly, because you guys are rolling so well, I haven't been able to do anything with this countdown. So just saying I'm mad at you all. Go ahead Um I throw a rock at Marillia, and I signal To an alley away from the center of town because it seems like I I was pointing them towards the center of town and then everyone went away from the center of town. So I assume that's the direction we're going. Okay. So you're you're currently essentially if we think about this hub again, you're currently circling around. And you're getting closer to where Key's shop is at the northeast, which I'm pretty sure I did say backwards now that I've established I'm pretty sure I said it backwards the first time. Water Southwest. Key's shop northeast. Right. Yes. So um So we're making our way around the central house. Right, yes. So you are you are making your way around the yeah, the north and the west side, and you're getting closer to Key's shop. You're able to cross that intersection absolutely no problem because of uh the dragonling that you have on the roof who is able to tell you that it was clear. If we weren't rolling so much, I would have uh uh Aerathangan roll to see if he was actually hitting you with these rocks he was throwing to try to get your attention, but that's too many rolls at a certain point. Sorry, I've got a hearty undershow. I mean only if you want more fear. Fair. You get In your time, you've been sneaking, you've done amazingly well, you've avoided a bunch of things that I have uh that I set along your path. Because of I I don't think you guys have rolled basically below a 15 with all like it the group action roll Became a 15 because it was great, but you guys have basically just sidestepped everything that has been in your path so far. And as you turn this last Corner and you can see ahead of you is Keys shop, you see the three guards Stationary out front. This shit This shop, is it just like a little one-story little little shack kind of thing, or is it? It's pretty small. There is a second story, but Your understanding is that she lives above the shop? Yeah. So I'm looking for windows, other points of ingress. There are rooftops nearby. It's a little bit of a distance between her shop and this is kind of one of those one of those areas where it's a little bit further on the outskirts and not quite next to as many things. So, I mean if you're looking at it, you're looking up. There are buildings nearby. You could climb to the top of one and jump. Not guarantee that you're gonna make it. I'd say she's thinking about if this is what's in the front. I wonder if there's also people around the back. Or not. So she's going to Is it okay that I keep using voice of dread? to just speak with people if I'm not trying to like torment them with my words, but more so just communicate I mean, it's definitely not what the spell intends. Uh so I maybe when you speak in people's minds it torments them anyway. We could always say if you we could always Change the DC if it's something that you're wanting to use more as like a message style ability. We could always change the DC. And if you don't hit the higher DC, then maybe it's You torment one of your friends? But I I would say the intention of the spell is that it is tormenting people. So Okay. I I'm I'm not against using it that way, but I think there's no way for me to limit it like a like a message spell or anything. So I think the longer that you do it, the higher the chances are that it's gonna start. having adverse effects on the people that you care about. Okay. Well assuming you care about these people, I don't know. I'm not gonna tell you that one I do not intend to hurt them. Is there other shops I the workshop in the center, it's it's got a little bit of space between it all, so it definitely requires a leap for me to get in there. But there are there other buildings and shops that don't look to be look to be closed for the day, possibly without inhabitants inside I don't think you can tell from where you are whether or not there's inhabitants inside, but you don't see lights in the shops surrounding it Are there like what do the streets look like that? Are there like you know, is there garbage on them? Like are there um is are there carts anywhere? Like is there like other objects on the street? Is it like a you know, is the shop on a square. Um is there anything that yeah it's not it's not on a square. It is it is this is kind of like a a side street, so um when you say carts are you talking Like a like maybe like a like a food cart, like an like a that's empty or um you know is there anything attached to the buildings on the roofs, like like decorative things or Yeah, I mean I'd say a lot of the buildings around here have chimneys and things like that if that's what you're looking for. I'm looking for something to um to move with air to make noise to distract the guards Oh, if you're trying to move something with air, I think that's gonna be easy enough to do. There you could I'm trying to locate an object that I can like clatter off a roof, like to make them move away from the door. It's kind of like the pebble but like something that would be like more of a crashing sound. Okay. Um do you have a way on the ground of knowing if there's something on the roof? Or are you just gonna It's probably something that I would I probably need to see something visually. Okay. Uh well let's let's see if you see something visually. Alright, that's a that's a instinct rule. Okay. And you're looking for See if you see. Yeah, that was a weird way to word that, I realized. Uh eighteen with fear. Have another fear. Doing great. I am doing great. Um, you actually notice that there is a roof nearby has a What you would kind of get the idea is essentially like a weather vein on it. And it doesn't look like it's super well attached. Like it kinda is, it looks wobbly when you see it and you can see it in the moonlight. And you'd get the feeling with an 18 that if you hit it with a hard enough gust of wind, it It it might come down or it might at least make noise. Then Almatar is gonna try to do that, see if it attracts the guard's attention. Okay. So she's going to um whisper under her breath, um, and then a gust of wind is going to kind of rise up and she's gonna try to push the weather vein off the roof. Okay. Yeah, go ahead and let's make a spellcast roll for that. Sure, sure. Yeah, absolutely. Sorry to make you roll twice in a row. No, no, that's okay. I'm gonna use a hope to to get added um damage or plu I guess. plus two to the roll or plus three to the damage, I'm guessing I reached plus two to the roll. Okay. Um all right, so I'm gonna expend a hope to do that Before I roll. Okay. And that is going to be spellcast. Is that just a straight roll? Your spellcast roll, their spellcast trade is instinct. Okay. Okay, great, thank you. Okay, I rolled a twenty-one plus uh plus two for the um hope that I spent. Okay, is that hope or fear? It was fear again. I legitimately cannot believe how high you guys are rolling. Exclusively with fear though. Like never So you It's a spooky evening. It's all this is scary. What is it like when Almathara like uses summons this wind. What like what is that? What's the what is it like for you? What is it is is there anything visible to your party as you do this? Or is it She's not sure. I mean, I feel like the the way that she casts spells, um, she she uses words and gestures, but she's and she ca she's usually really dramatic because she's kind of dramatic person generally, but she's using kind of like small, more truncated gestures and whispering to, you know, so you know, kind of to herself because she doesn't want to attract attention. Oh. So you normally a big show off. But usually she's a show off. Usually she's very dramatic and makes like large gestures and um you know wants all the attention. But she's no she's trying to be quiet about it right now. Okay. So you uh you manage to hit the the weather vane a thing that is supposed to be able to withstand wind. Uh you hit it with such a a a force of your magic. That it goes spinning and spiraling off the roof and it clatters down to the ground. And I assume that you would have Blown this in a direction that it would take the guards' attention away from Away. Correct. Yeah. I am gonna see, just because your role was just to get this thing off the roof, I'm gonna roll to see if the guards are in. interested in a clattering away from what they are told to keep an eye on. The sound of the weather vane hits the ground. That was a bad sentence. The sound of the weather vane hitting the ground, um, off in the distance catches your ear, and as you watch the guards You also see that it catches their ear too. And three of them look. And the big guard. The one in the middle. Says, Hey, what's that? You guys go check it out. And he sends the two smaller guards off to investigate the source of the sound. How far away was that by the way? It was like the next block over. So they gotta like turn a corner maybe to go check it out? Yes. Is there uh like kind of glancing out or or or peeking out from where we are, is there a way to approach this guard and remain In the shadow at all, or is it just like open lit street between us and him? He's not really facing you right now. He is more facing the direction of where you're headed. So you you would be moving in and out of light as you got to him, which is it's not that far at this point, like 20 or 30 feet. You'd be moving in and out of light a bit But he is not facing you currently, so if you are attempting to sneak up on him, that is something that you could do, but it wouldn't be based on shadow, I guess, is the point. It would be more based on the fact that he's just not looking your direction. Would you say he is within far range? Thinking I have an ability deft maneuvers. Once per rest, mark a stress to sprint anywhere within far range without making an agility roll to get there. And when I end the movement within melee range of an adversary and immediately make an attack against them, I gain a plus one bonus to my attack roll. I'm thinking about sprinting across this as quietly as I can, sprinting the distance getting up behind him and then clobbering him in the back of the head to try to knock him out. I would like to bring the idea, since I'm f already at the front, I'm Since this is already hit, Yeah, I think I think Rance would like whisper this like should I no, should I go hit him? So I think he's proposing this. He's like, should I go hit him? After we I after I see uh the two other guards walk away I see the moment where there's just one guy, right? I'm like, all right, it's time to act. Even uh even Aerathan on the roof is like, oh wow, that you know, that that got two of them away. So it's it's a moment. So I turn around to um Almatharia and Alacrans and say I can restrain him if we want to quickly dispatch him or knock him out, whatever you guys feel. Knife in the dark. But time is now. So she she moves out, and she cast Death Grip. Oh jeez, what is tell me about Death Grip. So I get a choice of like what I want to do and my choice is um within a Against a target within close range, I can constrict the target and force them to mark two stress on a success Um, vines reach out for my hands, causing the chosen effect and temporarily restraining the target. Okay. So that show. If she's if she's moving into close range, I think Krayans is moving with her. Okay, and then I feel like all Almathar is going to think well I feel like she can probably handle the situation. We if if we take out one of the guards, the other two are gonna find a restraint or a dead guard and that's gonna be a problem. So she's going to gesture to Kranz to come with her like to take out the other two guards. like before they notice. Okay. So she's gonna basically like use kind of twin communication like like they can kind of they have their own like you know they they know each other so well, like they they don't have to do a lot of talking in order to communicate with each other. They're like hand gestures and that kind of thing so she's gonna be like, let's go, let's go get the other two, you know. I love the idea of Crance taking off after uh Morelia and Almitara being like no idiot and like pulling his sleeve with her like no with me What happened? Uh yeah, I s I'm going I'm going with I'm going with Almatara. Unless unless the roll went badly. Seems like Marelia's role was good. Well, I haven't actually rolled yet. I was just thinking about the situation I'm gonna be in. Okay. Well we have her we have a lot of things. But we also have a drag like a dragon line on the roof who can assist too. Who I assume is like close. Okay. Yeah. So sixteen plus three is nineteen. Yeah, nineteen. Nice. Hope or two. Um This time with hope. I'm so excited. Very good. You guys did it. You got one. You got one hope. You've done it. Let's go. I've won the game. Alright, so that's a hint? Um Yeah. So you were sending temporarily restraint. Sending out these vines. He he will mark two stress. He is now restrained. I quickly slink out from the shadows while he's not paying attention and just uh entangle him pretty much. Also doing my best to maybe around his Yeah, yeah. Can you silence him with like specifically around like his his hands and Legs and then the mouth as well, so this guy can't be pulling any like No one calling to his buddies. Yeah. Yeah. That was that was a pretty smart call based on what my exact next words were gonna be. Yeah. And then I have a play I w once you're ready I have a play for what's next with that guy. Okay. I do want to say I just want to focus in on one specific moment for Marillia. You reach out with these vines, they grab this guy. You're expecting Allocrans to run up behind him and take care of him. Yep. You wait one second Two seconds. Just like three seconds. What What's going through your mind as you realize maybe you even hear or see Allocrans running off in a different direction This is not how I was planning this. Um perfect time the voice of Dread in. Yeah. Okay. Just wanted to check. Who made this plan? I just wanted to check. Okay, so we've got we'll come back to you, Arithan. We're just gonna kinda pause that moment. Arithan on the roof up above Looking down as Morelia does this. And we're gonna shift focus over to Alecrans and Almathara chasing after these other two guards. They are facing away from you because you're following them. What are we doing? I mean, all Mathara was leading, I'm following her. Let's see. So they are they're they're I guess they're not running, because why would would you run to investigate a sound? That's strange. So they're kind of walking off towards the direction of the sound where the weather vein hit the ground. You are I'm not gonna make you you've done so many rolls to like move and that sort of thing. So I'm not gonna do like a roll to move silently or anything, but you are gaining on them quickly. As out of the corner of your eye, you see Morelia use her vines to grapple this guard. Um, grapple's maybe not the best word, because that has connotations in other games, but. uh to restrain him. And that's the moment that we're in. I I'm I'm wondering if uh if Korans in seeing in like as they're you know running up behind these two guards about to ambush them, if he looks over at Almethara and has an understanding of whether or not She has lethal intent. Oh, okay. Is this are we go are we grabbing them and subduing them or am I murdering these two guys? I mean listen, murder ain't no thing. But but I need to know what I'm doing. So I think he looks at her like I think that like he's running and he's got his knife and he's like I think Omni would kind of like look back at him and shrug, be like, it's up to you know, like either way it goes, it's okay. with me Dad or just gotta check him out. Dealer's choice. Alright, I think she's I think I think she's gonna probably try to um use elementalist and um try to knock them down. From behind. So I'll do um which I would I would assume it would be a casting role. Um And I would I'm gonna infuse damage into it um with the hope um I'm trying to like knock them to the ground if I can. Um to kind of like Just maybe hopefully incapacitate them, um What a what is your typical Like with your wand equipped, is it 2d6 plus 1? Is that what you're rolling if you if you had your typical wand? Um oh I have to set it active. Sorry. No, you're okay. Yeah, yeah. Because we we unequipped everything. Just wanna make sure if you're rolling damage you know what we're adding the plus two. Yeah, it's um So it's D six plus one. Yeah. D six plus one and you have okay, and you have proficiency of two. So two D six Plus one and you're gonna add plus three because of your elementalist. Okay. I just want to make sure I knew I wanted to make sure I knew what we were on, but we gotta roll the hit first. So okay, great. So let's try that and see if I can do that. Uh twenty with fear. God, okay. Alright, I'm gonna have to start I'm gonna start setting your DCs higher because Lord okay. Uh yeah, that hits that hits both of them Quite easily. And then um how do I do the the d6 roll? Let's see. Oh yeah, here we go. D6. So two d6 you said? Two D6 and then you're gonna add four to the end because of Okay. Yeah, you're normal. And that's a nine total. Nine total. Nine total with the four? With the four. Yes, including the four. Yeah. Alright, so nine damage. Um they're kind of walking and pretty leisurely pace. It didn't you know, they weren't expecting anything based on what the sound was. And all of a sudden from behind them, this gust of wind just hits him in the back, sends him flying forward. You actually send them flying so hard. That they kind of skid past the the weather vein they were investigating. They kind of slide on the ground. And they are both Hurt. And just because like technically that was with fear, right? So fear, yes, with fear. I could take over, but Alacranz has already said he was planning on doing something, so I'm gonna give you that opportunity, but this better be good because that was with fear. So this is this is something I think that ac that the twins have practiced that they've done before. Um he has uh many times asked Amithara to uh help him move you know about the practice field, about you know, maybe subtly in duels at times if he's feeling like cheating, um, with Gus. Right she's doing the gestures like that he's seen before, like for the spell. He's gonna use boost And and like leap up into that gust of wind to give him some air into a flying attack. You get advantage on this attack. I love that. Wait, do you get advantage anyway? Is that what Boost does? Damn it! They're trying to give you something nice. Okay, I'm I'm I'm full on the code. Okay, I can't give you anything. Forget it. You get nothing. But that's fine. You get nothing. Who lose? Good day, sir. Um Alright, so I'm gonna mark stress, and that's gonna boost my attack. Um So so for boost the ability is I boost off a willing ally within close range, fling myself into the air, perform an aerial attack against a target within far range. Perfect. I have an advantage on the ta on the attack. And if I hit, I add a D ten to the damage roll. Um and I end my move within melee range. So it's about how about this. I wanna give you something nice. You don't have to mark a stress for this attack. Because because that was such a that was such a fun flavor. I and I can't give you hope and I can't give you advantage. So you you don't have to mark a stress this time to boost. It wasn't stressful, it was flawless. Yes. Um, so I have a that's fifteen, that's eighteen with hope. Yeah, that's that's that's absolutely gonna hit both of them. Take a hope that you Can't use I can't use right there, no stress. Um effortlessly. Alright, uh let's do the damage dance. Let's see. What do you typically roll before you add a d10 to it? Uh 28. Uh sorry, two d8 plus uh ten. Sure. All right, let's go. Uh so that did twenty-five damage. Cause he's got so he has uh Kranz has uh He's a duelist, but he's a dual weapon duelist. He has a a broadsword and a short sword. And I think in this moment he gets thrown up into the air using his sister's uh you know, gust to give him elevation and comes down on top of this guard with both blades just straight through the back. Okay. Dang. So this is one guard of the two. I I c I don't think I can hit the phone. Okay, I just want I just want to check. I want to make sure there was something I I just want to make sure. Um first of all, I just want to be on the record that I genuinely have not tried to make this easy on people and your roles are ridiculous. So, I just wanted that to be on the podcast. S you were supposed to miss something eventually Anyhow. Confident three, man. The confident three. Not the confident three. I guess you got your your confident threes out of the way the first session, so we'll see. Anyway. Um, yeah, you absolutely um how experienced are you with killing Alecrans? I think probably not very. I I think he's like still in the period of his life where like he's probably had to do it a couple times, so there's not really a whole lot of Like he likes a fight, but he likes a fair fight or reasonably close. He likes the competitive aspect of dueling. I think he looks on on like killing with kind of distaste. Like he's this is something he didn't want to have to do, but here we are. I'm sorry I interrupted someone. No. Okay. I was gonna say as you are thrown through the air by your sister's ability and land blade first on this guard who has just essentially been skidding across the ground like a like a metal pebble on a on a on a gravel lake. Uh that's that's called a metaphor or simile simile? Simile. Um Anywho, as you land on him, um he's not dead. But poor guy, you You hear him take a breath, and you in this moment can hear The sound of the blood that is in his lungs as he breathes. And you could hear it bubbling and gurgling. It's a very weird quiet moment for you And then your eyes turn to the second card who's looking up at you. Locks eyes, and he starts to scream Help And as that is about to happen, we're gonna shift focus back to our our witch and our seraph Who currently have grappled the biggest of the three guards that you've seen. I would say that in realizing that there is no uh assistance, uh and dispatching this person that she's restraining. Uh she's also gonna focus like obviously she's covering the mouth, right? She's just gonna do a little bit more and try to get the nose to Should try to like suffocate this individual, hopefully. Okay. Make them pass out. Maybe the throw too. I don't know. We're just cutting off all Blood flow slash air if possible. Okay. So are you recasting death grip to tighten it? Is that the goal? Or Should I? Do I do I is that I don't know. I mean yeah we have to roll something for you. What you would like to do She is restrained, so I can roll again to just double down on let's see. It's not like a specific option, right? So it'd just be doubling down on constricting the target and force them to mark what to more stress or something? Like I don't know I mean we we it doesn't have to be like a Basically what I'm saying is in order to do this, you're gonna have to roll something. So it doesn't necessarily have to be that you have to um Like you don't have to roll for damage. I'm absolutely willing to flavor this as you are just continuing to to cover his face with these vines. Um, but we do have to roll to see if that's gonna be successful, to see if your magic that you are Reaching down into yourself to access is going to work in this moment. There's going to be a three Sorry. Ten plus three is thirteen. I was like, I was like, oh wow, we got another. There it is, man. He was so confident. Anyway, um okay, so 13. Is that with hope or fear? That's actually with hope. Let's go. All right, congrats on your hope. Finally, I can't do this thing. You don't as you reach into yourself to summon these additional vines to tr attempt to To s sh smother? I think smother is pr I almost said strangle. As you attempt to as you attempt to smother him. It feels like something holds you back. Something stops you in this moment, and you are not able to summon any more vines around him. But we did have Aratheon, who was Planning on doing something. Curious to see where that goes. So I'm watching this unfold from the from the treetop. Morelia crants. Talk for a second. Both heads shake. She goes in. Kranz heads that way and sister takes him the other way, leaving Merli Merle obviously looks confused. So I am going to um and I guess I need to see if you will be okay with me to because it says to Marcos Stress to pick up a carry another Wheeling creature? Okay. But if he's a strain, can I pick him up? We're on the outskirts of the city, so I'm just gonna fly him out to the city outside the city and just drop him off. Okay. Restrained, right? Like Yeah. Yeah. Um I'm gonna make you I'm not gonna like let you just mark a stress. I think we're gonna probably have to roll to try to pick up someone. who doesn't want to be picked up? Sure. What? Because he's restrained I'm gonna lower the DC on that one so it's not not as difficult because it's not like he can like dodge you so much. Okay. So go ahead and just Roll let's do that, let's do that as a strength, strength check to lift him up. So roll your duality at your strength modifier. Give me that number And it's another big number. Of course it is. It is another big number with fear. Okay. Of course it is. That's bon par for his session. It is a Twenty-one with fear. Damn. I would I I don't think I can take any more fear. I gotta start doing stuff to you guys. We're doing so good with our fools. So down on the ground, Morelia is reaching into herself to try to summon this additional magic to Snuff this guard out like a candle. And it doesn't work the way that you're used to. You don't find any more of that magic in this moment. And as you are processing that set of large wings locks out all light making it so you can't see and as that moment passes the guard is gone She she breaks the her her vines f off from her hands so she's not attached. As funny as that would be, I figured you probably weren't gonna go weren't gonna go. So I was avoiding this. Um you as you as Arithan flies off And drops the guard just somewhere in the distance. We're gonna shift focus back. And just for the sake of the most interesting moment, we're gonna say that we are in That breath before the guard screams for help. What do you do? It's not the lung it's not the long lung gurgle guy, right? It's the other one. I think I mean I think the twins are acting in perfect concert. So I feel like we would be we would look at each other like in that that moment of like right as the like the intake of breath, he's about to scream out for help. And I think there would be uh like resolve between them. And I'm I'm offering a tag team role to Tiddley to see if we can snuff this guy out in one hit. Okay, so you spend three hope You both roll attacks, you take the higher uh the whichever result you want. I guess it doesn't have to be the higher one. So you are both tell me what you're doing, 'cause right now currently, Kranz, your blades are both in this other guard. And do you have I uh above the table, Tidley, do you have any like Any any sp like how if if Kranz was gonna leave his blades buried in the like they're probably sticking into the road through this guy who's still on top of like you may not even be able to get him out. I think he's moving so quickly that like he just takes a mailed fist and just tries to like diving punch over this guy and try to to hit him hard enough to to render him at least unconscious. Okay. How do you like how would you help that? How like what would what sorceress version of like how do I get this guy's punch to be as strong or as like Well, are you gonna try to punch him? I think that's all I got. Oh I guess sh she could she could I mean her power is is air, so she could try to superpower your your punch somehow, like maybe like tendrils of air like wrapping around your arm like and around your fist like to give you additional momentum. You know, something like that will be cool. I can okay. So Um go ahead and I've got a couple I've got a couple slayer dice I can add to this roll. Okay. Um Because I've built up two over the course of this. And it says when I make an attack roll or damage roll, I could spend any number of my slayer dice rolling them and adding the result to the roll. So I think we it doesn't say I have to do this before the the roll resolves, so I think I'm gonna roll first and like we'll both roll, see what we end up with, and maybe I decide whether or not after to add Slayer dice to the roll as opposed to the the damage. Is that fair? Alright, let's roll it to like um okay, so that's from these um yep. Okay. So I've got uh a fifteen with hope. I have a twelve twelve with fear. Alright, whose role would you like to go with on this one? I think probably his role. Fifteen isn't that high. Um I'm gonna use one of my slayer dice to add a little bit of uh add a little add a little oomph to it. Okay. It's a one, so sixteen, sixteen with no still hit. Okay. Alright. So go ahead and both of you roll your damage. Quest so question. So when I do can I spend my do I just can I spend my hope now or do I just spend it before I attack to add additional damage I can spend it now. I can spend it now? Okay. Mm-hmm. Alright. I am going to do that. So let's see. Damage. And I'm gonna throw my additional slayer die in there. There we go, okay 13 26. Sorry, you had just 26 by yourself? Oh Yes. Wow. Okay, so 30 I rolled a I rolled very well on my attack roll and then I got a six on my slayer. 39? Just want to be clear. 39 damage total. That's the correct math. Correct. Are you trying to kill? I'm try I I think like given that it's I mean I'm trying to I don't have any uh like I don't have a bladed weapon. If I had one that I couldn't you know d I had time to dig out of the ground, I think he would have gone in with a blade. But because he doesn't have anything, I think he just goes in with a bailed fist and I mean if he hits hard enough maybe the guy dies, but he's not he like whatever happens happens. He's trying to take him out. Yeah, he's not like holding anything back. I don't know that he I don't know that he could have her straight too because like Almathar is like boost. Boosting him. So it's basically like he's he's you know, he's hitting him for all he's got, Scotty, you know. Like it's if It's like purely f Ivan Drago for Rocky Ford, if he dies, he dies. Like Yeah. Alecranz is hitting him as hard as he can. Because he's trying to he's trying to deal with him in one blow. You have Punched a lot of people in your day. Something about the way this guard's face crumples under your hand, assisted by the wind that your sister provides feels different and you don't just punch in the face, you punch through. Which is to say, your your hand doesn't go through his face, but you punch past. Where he is, and his head after you hit him slams into the ground. Dealing enough damage that you are able Kill him. And you hear again The bubbling breed guard that you've left pinned to the ground with your blades. Oh my god, we are we bad people? Are we the bad guys? Oh my goodness. Wow. No. It is the children that are wrong. Hmm. No, it's the children that are wrong. Um I I think Krance would take a moment to like catch his breath, because they just barely avoided Discovery. The alarm going up. Um and then he looks up and down the street realizing like they're not out of danger yet. They gotta they gotta like get rid of these bodies. Um and so he stands up um you know, kind of callously puts his foot on the back of the the guy where his blades are stuck into and yanks them out. I think that would be enough to sever his connection to this world when you pulled the two swords from his lungs. you would hear the final bubble as the uh as the last of his air left. And he would kind of like he so he's you know he's bloodied his blades before so So he knows he's got like a cloth that he kind of wipes the blades down, sheaths them. And then without even realizing it, like he kind of he's sweating. This has been nerve-wracking. Like holy you know gods, we almost just alerted the whole town. And he kind of wipes his his hand across his forehead or across like across his nose 'cause like there's just got a sweat. And there's like a streak of blood from his glove, like across his face. 'Cause he's forgotten that his hand is now covered in his his like gauntlet is covered in blood. Um but then turns to Almethara and is like, I'll grab his legs, you grab his arms. And they try to drag him off the street like into the nearest, you know, alley. Like not no time to think to feel about this. We need just need to keep it moving. Hide the body? Drag a body drag a body. Are you dragging both of them? You didn't say his legs. Yeah, we need to move both. But we're like, I think if it's two person to one body, we move it more quickly. Okay. Alright. Sounds good. Easy enough to do? Well, sort of, you know, as easy as hiding a body can be. Um and then I think once they've kind of tucked them away, I mean they're not, you know, they're not doing a probably a great job hiding these bodies, but the whole idea is like we need to do it quickly and we need to get back to our house as fast as possible. Okay. Um so they go jogging back up the street to see what condition Morelli is in. Maybe this guard they as far as they know, the guard's still there. So go run it back up. See run back up. Marillia, the backup that you expected on this attack comes running back to you. Um, so she was out there for maybe a couple seconds before uh anyone else uh rejoin Um this wasn't too much time. Yeah, yeah. So once she sees them turn the corner and not in like running from anything, right? She goes and she just does a quick little knock on the door and then steps to the side. Um, while the others approach. Okay. Uh does everybody kinda join up at the door? Yeah. I I'm still flying with the guy. Still? Oh okay. Are you going out over the bay to drop him in the water? What are you doing? Just go up. My my my intent is to take him somewhere, maybe to like a farmstead. Oh, take him to the farm. Oh and And throw him into a pig sty and maybe knock him out in the middle of like the throw. I'm I'm not gonna drop him from a hole like Okay. Huge high. The other goal one when I went into swoop on him, I came from behind, so hopefully, you know Doesn't realize it's me. Definitely something big just swooped out of the he just he's flying. But the goal is to throw him, kind of sort of have him slide into like a pig sty or something, knock his head out and just slick sleep with the pigs over the night. So when he wakes up And he gets he's what what story is he gonna tell to the people he goes back? Oh I was sleeping with the pigs last night. No, he's gonna he's gonna forget it all happened, especially I guess when he finds out the people died that I don't know about, but Um the goal is to drop him off at some kind of farmstead or something with s and and knock him out sleeping with the animals You want me to make you roll for something for that? I'm not sure what you roll for to drop someone. Like that seems improved in accurately? Like, I don't Roll for damage. Is there something that you would like I feel like I should make you roll, but honestly, dropping someone is That's nothing. Like that that's the opposite of effort, so it could be it could I could see it being a finesse roll to try to angle him so he's you know Head first into the the pig sty or whatever. I could see a finesse being part of that. Um finesse. Instinct for navigating them in a certain direction. Let's say finesse sounds good. Let's go okay. Um and while I just while you're rolling that, I want to cut the attention back to the knock on that door. Uh you knock on the door, Marillia. Almathara Allocrans run up winded a little bit from their their quick movement. And you hear off in the distance, not very loud, shouting. Hey! What from a guard that is being carried off as uh Morelia released those vines. They began to lose their constriction. Dang. He's not very loud, but you can hear him. So, as this guard that you're carrying loses the vines around his mouth, that was preventing him that were preventing him from screaming. You drop him. What's your finesse roll? Sixteen with fear. Sixteen with fear I can make it better if need be. I mean the fear is the main problem here at this point. So you are used to carrying people. You've done it before. You've you've lifted willing creatures. You Know kind of what happens when you drop something when you fly. Um, you know, I picture a young Arithaan, younger Aerythean. uh doing things with like games where you would, you know, pick up a ball with your feet and like try to get it in a in a basket as you're flying by it. Like just kinda you're used to these The momentum of it all, I guess. What you're not used to is the thing that you're attempting to aim struggling as you release it And as you release and he starts to yell, you realize you didn't really calculate the angle based on his movement. And from up in the air, pretty sickening crunch as he hits the ground. Oops! I fly down to check on him. What do you do to check on him? Is he still breathing? No. His neck is at an odd angle. Not an angle that you expect. Oh, natural. No gurgling? Stop! I will I will still burn a stress to heal him Okay. As you do, you hear the sound of bones Kind of knitting themselves back together and shallow breath comes into his lungs He doesn't open his eyes. If you stick around, he might, and he might recognize you from this moment on I I I give 'em a little straw pill and I take off. Okay. Go back to your friends? Mm-hmm. Okay. Knock on the door of Key's house. Alakran's Almathara run up out of breath The door starts to swing open. A dragonling lands behind Almathar and Alecrans. As the door opens from the inside of the building You see a galapa, which is a a turtle person. Um you see a galapa Looking out at you curiously, and she scans each of your faces And then her eyes settle on Alecrans, and her eyes narrow. And she says, seeing the blood on your face, were you able to get here without Making a mess. And that is where we're gonna stop today. Because that went a lot of different directions than I expected. Man, I sure hope the inevitable consequences of our actions don't come back to bite us.
