Ag in a Minute

Jaelyn, a Minnesota 4-H Agriculture Ambassador, introduces the 4-H Livestock Lease Program—a unique opportunity for youth who don’t live on a farm to experience showing animals at the fair. Through this program, participants partner with local farmers, learning how to care for and show breeding animals throughout the season. Jaylen highlights that Minnesota is one of the few states offering this hands-on opportunity, helping youth gain real-world agricultural experience and build meaningful connections with local producers.

Hello, I'm Jaelyn, and welcome to Agriculture in a Minute with the Minnesota 4-H Agriculture Ambassadors. Today, we're talking about what the LEASE program is in four H. The LEASE program is a way for youth across Minnesota to show an animal in 4-H during fairs, even if you don't live on a farm. First, you will connect with a farmer and show their animal during the show season. During this process, you will learn about a species, how to care for them, and show them at fairs.

Speaker 1:

Any animal that is a market animal can't be shown, but breeding animals can. Did you know that Minnesota is one of the only states that lets people lease animals? That's a brief description on what the lease program is. Thanks for listening to Agriculture in a Minute. This is Jaelyn with the Minnesota 4-H Agriculture Ambassadors.
