This week of ספירה is a very big week packed with both פסח שני and with ל"ג בעומר. I'll tell you very personally, ל"ג בעומר has been a very intimidating day for me my whole life. I never really connected to ל"ג בעומר so much. I was always very intimidated by him.

I was always very intimidated by the crowds in מירון. I was very intimidated by Very. I mean, very intimidated by the זוהר, right? And the whole concept.

And yet, and yet ל"ג בעומר puts an end to אבלות. Which is a very interesting concept. Which is how we began learning our learning on ספירת העומר. If the students of Rabbi Akiva died from פסח till שבועות, why aren't we mourning the whole time till שבועות? Because the יארצייט of רבי שמעון בר יוחאי.

So what? Why should that stop אבלות? Why should that stop the mourning process, right?ל"ג בעומר is a very intense day. It's a very beautiful day. It's a very big day. It's a day that has brought so much unity and so much שמחה, out of coming out of nowhere.

Coming out of nowhere. Has anyone been to מירון on ל"ג בעומר? Not yet. Jerry, you never went? You know that before, חסידים would go, you know that, to ל"ג בעומר, for, to מירון, for רבי שמעון. Kind of connected.

All right, we're going to see how he is, we're going to see what's up with ל"ג בעומר right now. Look at this, we're continuing with this beautiful שיחה of ארץ משה דוד now on ל"ג בעומר. And this will really explain to us, I believe, why is it that the morning just stops? And boom, we have like a new energy coming into the, coming into our lives.

We'll explain what that concept means in a second. He said, what have we done? We've touched upon the character of רבי עקיבא. I mean, really, I don't think we just touched upon him.

I think last week we sunk into רבי עקיבא and this master of hope, who both on the level of, the guy starts learning when he's 40, this צדיק, רבי עקיבא, becomes who he is. 24 years later, at the age of 64, 24,000 of his students die in front of him. He's going to 90 לוויות a day, 90 funerals a day of people that were like his sons, because we all know that every רבי has a relationship of like father-son to his students. And then what does he do? Instead of saying, \"I chose the wrong business,\" look what, look, look at the consequences of my career.

Look at the results of my career of being a רבי. What does he do? No. He goes and find the five. The fantastic five.

The fabulous five, the magical five, and he starts again. So this רבי is saying, we touched a little bit about רבי עקיבא and what have we seen, what's the whole thing about him? Absolute hope and and אהבת הזולת and loving. But let's understand, what's the connection between רבי שמעון בר יוחאי and his רבי רבי עקיבא? And why דווקא on ל"ג בעומר, on his יארצייט, נמתק הדין, the judgment of such a horrible decree of 24,000 students dying? Why was it that that judgment sweetened? Why was it sweetened on ל"ג בעומר and the thing, and suddenly, there's שמחה in the world.וכותב כך רבנו הקדוש. רבי נחמן says like this in סימן ס"א.

רבי נחמן says like this. Don't you get excited whenever you see a quote from ליקוטי מוהר"ן? You get it's like he's going, he's now he's going. I always, I get so excited. It's like, oh, now we're going to go back to it.

It's it's just, it's it's אשרינו. We're so lucky. We have no. Sunday morning.

Sunday morning. It's just, we're not in Wrigley Field. Sunday morning, we're learning תורה. Learning רבי נחמן.

It's, come on. It's amazing. It's amazing.

Rabbi Akiva's students that died because there wasn't real love amongst them. Like our רבי'ס taught us. הם היו גבורות וצמצומים.

They were basically, there was a lot of strength among them and a lot of contraction amongst them. What wasn't among them? They didn't know how to each of them take their own talents and their own מעלות and their own also lower parts and say, \"How do we, how do we fit all this together?\" They didn't know how to, they didn't know how to be כלול יחד. Like a real חבורה of people, you have to be aware of what people are very strong in, and you also have to be aware of where people are more שוואך in.

That doesn't mean that there's no chance for people to connect. They don't have to connect by by being the same. They have to connect by knowing how to combine all the parts together. You understand? There was גבורות and there's צמצומים, contractions.

They did not encompass, they didn't come together ולא נמתקו. And that's what brings sweetness. When there's a way of knowing how to bring each people's strengths and lesser strengths and see, this is how you're great in this.

That's what you're going to do, but you probably shouldn't mess around trying to do that thing, because in that you're really שוואך. You don't have to say that to someone, but that's the real, the best way to empower people is to just focus on what they're good at and make sure they don't waste their time on what they're probably not so good at. Okay? That's a המתקה. That's a sweetening.

Because then it brings each person to feel like they're doing what they could do.ורבי שמעון וחבריו, but רבי שמעון and his students, שהיו התיקון שלהם, they were the תיקון for רבי עקיבא's students. Why? We are dependent on how much we actually like each other.

That's our dependency in this world. We are dependent upon how much, not how much תורה we learn. And they learned, you know, but but what what they felt they were dependent on, We are dependent on how much we like each other.

And let's not kid ourselves. We could have the highest דאווענען here. We could have the greatest שיעורים. That's not what's, that that's still not it.

I really believe anyone that's trying to do anything today, it is רבי שמעון's statement. אנן, we, אנן is אנו, we, בחביבותא, with in in the concept of חביבות, liking, תליא, we are, that's what we're dependent on. That's going to, that's going to really be our mark. That's really going to be our mark in the world.

Consciously or subconsciously? Consciously. Consciously, big time consciously. The most. The most.

It feel great that you're here today on your birthday, but you, you, this is your תורה. You know it, this is preaching to the choir when I'm saying this to you. You, you know this. It's happens also to be the birthday of Rabbi Brody.

Rabbi Lazer Brody, who, who feels that this is part of his like נשמה DNA for him coming back. And he's like said that. Wow.

Rabbi Meyer of all... Right. It's also his anniversary. Yes.

You should go out to Rosa then. I think we should go out to Rosa. I thought you were gonna say we gotta go to the room. The more we go to Rosa, the more we will like each other.

This is the level of when there's love and there's ingathering that are all encompassed together. And through that, when I know that our dependency on really getting it right is how much we're able to to bring it in together, open up that membership book, crack the code, that family, they're this, they have to they could do that, they.

That's an ענין of המתקה of sweetening and a תיקון. And that's what רבי שמעון and his students did. Now, what does that mean? We don't understand what that means. Now רבי נתן is going to explain it. Now we're learning רבי נתן's words.

רבי נתן says in ליקוטי הלכות, what does אנן בחביבותא תליא? We are dependent on liking each other.

We, we need to make sure that there's tremendous love amongst us. That's the עיקר. Some people could say, look, we don't have to be best friends, but we have to be cordial. No.

That's not amongst חברים. That's not how it's going to work. וכמובא בתלמידי האר"י ז"ל, brought down by the students of the האר"י ז"ל, שהזהירם האר"י ז"ל כמה וכמה פעמים שיהיה ביניהם אהבה גדולה. The אריז"ל would stop every so often while people are growing tremendously in their מדות and תורה knowledge, and he'd stop and say, remember what this is about? How much love is in the room? How much love is in the room? He would stop and say, how much love is in the room? That's what it's all about.

That's what the אריז"ל would remind because it's so hard to really feel like that's as important as what? What your mind, when you see your mind development and you see you're realizing and you're learning and you're grasping new concepts. So you have all these new ways of thinking of what's important. And then the אריז"ל would always bring everything back and say, wait a second. Yeah, I'm learning, we're learning עשר ספירות, we're learning תיקונים, all the great Kabbalistic, but wait a second.

How much love is in the room? Why? The real bringing pulling forth down of תורה is through love and kindness. שהיא בחינת השתוקקות וכיסופין דקדושה, which is what long, which is the longing for holiness.

Because this is the way that one receives the תורה and all goodness. What did we say this morning? We're restarting the engine. We're doing a reboot on the march towards receiving the תורה by פסח שני. Let's do it again, Noah. That's a ברכה.

Tonight, you're doing 29 plus whatever it is, you know, right? You're starting again. But what is the focus now? Now the focus, it'll probably start from ל"ג בעומר, but since we're learning this now, it could start from tonight. Now the focus is, well, I want to receive the תורה. But רבי נתן and רבי נחמן have shown me right now that the only way I can receive the תורה and the אריז"ל has shown me is how much love is in the air, how much love is in the room.

It sounds very easy, it sounds very hippie. That's that's what it boils down to. Because only when I'm conscious of that, and only when that's really being prepared, is there a כלי, is there a vessel for me as a יחיד to receive the תורה? Wouldn't it have been more easier for God to appear to each person in a dream or in a little, I don't know, a little revelation? Each person has a little bush they go to like משה רבינו where each person has a little, right? No, ה' had to do it everyone together. Why? That's the whole, because it's not going to work the other way.

And anyone that's tried to do it the other way, just doesn't work. I mean, they always say it's the biggest challenge of the generation that the חבר'ה just can't connect. I mean, I don't know, it's a big step. Yeah, I'm saying forget nation, take a take a block.

Right? Take a block, take a corner. I mean, it's everywhere. This is everywhere, you know. How could we be so? This is where the נחש comes.

I mean, this is snake energy. What do you mean? It's the easiest place for the snake to say, \"Welcome to my domain.\" I'm just going to get a. Thank you so much. Thank you.

Pretty down. This is so beautiful.

What did רבי שמעון, what what did he merit to actually מקיים, to keep what his רבי said? What did what did his רבי say was the most important thing? Who says this? רבי שמעון realized 24,000 students didn't get what the רבי was saying.

Their רבי was saying ואהבת לרעך כמוך. And for some reason, that's one thing they didn't see. But there's there's a saying in Hebrew that goes like this, You ever hear that, that concept? You've heard it before? You know what that means? It means the shoemaker's son walks around barefoot.

Right? The shoemaker's, huh? Yeah. My wife says it to me all the time during, during חגים. My kids don't know where to go, no tuition, you're taking care of everyone else's. Comes out, they're leaving us at home.

The more you know, my house is a wreck. Right. 40 years.

I forgot to screen though. I once heard from say, how sad is it that I could go to Argentina and have, you know, every thousand people there singing ובאו האובדים בארץ אשור, and I come home and my little daughter Darya doesn't even know that song. So what is it worth, you know?So yes, so that's Rabbi Akiva's 24,000 students. But if they didn't, if if, if when we think of רבי עקיבא, what do we think of?

That's what we think. רבי שמעון's like, רבי שמעון was saying, what he's saying here is that רבי שמעון was able to actually hear what his רבי was saying. ולהחדירה בלב תלמידיו, to have it infiltrate and and go into the hearts of his students.

עד שתיקנו בשלמות את פגם תלמידי רבי עקיבא, until they fixed fully the פגם, the blemish of the students of רבי עקיבא. So רבי שמעון and his students are the תיקון for what didn't take place between רבי עקיבא and his students. וגם היום, and also today, בפרט ביום פטירתו של התנא רבי שמעון, especially on his יארצייט, שאז מאירה הנשמה ביתר שאת, כידוע, as we all know, that the נשמה shines most in the world on a צדיק'ס יארצייט. כידוע, like we know.

So that's why it's a It's a day of שמחה, of love and hearts getting closer to each other. From why? מכוחו, from his strength, what רבי שמעון did. ומכוח פעולתו and from what he actually worked for in this world.

I remember like hearing once that when רבי שמעון was sitting with his students and they were learning like the אידרא, like these caves, you know, you've been, you've been to many of them, I'm sure, right? So what was happened by מירון, like all over there, there's all these caves and by between צפת and מירון, there's all these little, like you'll see them, it's unbelievable. You guys know my friend, Nimrod, he plays violin with me? Nimrod? You ever see him? The fiddler? He has longest hair, shorts, very skinny, amazing, amazing guy. I did his wedding up in in כדיתא. You know what כדיתא is? כדיתא is is like between צפת and מירון.

And to get to כדיתא, you have to go on a little trail, and on this trail, all these little caves where רבי שמעון was sitting with his students and all רבי שמעון's students are buried on this hill. It's unbelievable. Peaceful as. So it said, when רבי שמעון was sitting with his students, maybe he didn't have to ask the question, how much love is here, because that's what was, that's what the learning was all about.

They didn't have to be reminded. They already saw, we could be flying like my רבי's חברותא, my רבי's רבי's students and what came out of that? Can you imagine knowing that's really the way to learn? That that's really what it is? You know how many people I've seen go to a שיעור and they're waiting the whole time to challenge the rav? That's their whole עונג. Their whole pleasure is when they could finally catch him on something. The whole thing.

I was once with Rav Weinberger, Shabbos, Friday night, there was a long line of חבר'ה trying to to to say good Shabbos. We were, the דאווענען was so high, we were flying in שול Friday night. And I was going to his home for dinner for for for סעודת שבת. There was a long line trying to, we were trying to get through people.

He had Rabbi Walerstien was there that Shabbos too. It was like a whole thing going on in שול. And there was one guy that I saw the the line, everyone wanted to comment on a ווארט he heard and say say different שיעור and. So there was one, he was very, very tired and one guy stopped him and said, \"Rebbi,\" and he's thinking, you know, he told me afterwards, he's like, I'm thinking he's going to tell me, you know, the Ramban says a little bit of different שיעור in what he was saying.

And he stops and says, \"Rebbi, is it okay if I give you a hug right now?\" One guy, actually a friend of mine from Pomona who came in for Shabbos. And I was like, ah, That's what it's about. That's what it's about.

What's more important, that we love each other, that you need to tell me that you learned Ramban differently? What's more important?Anyway, ועל ידי זה שנכללים יחד כל הנפשות, when when all the נשמות come together, and people are actually one, על ידי זה נעשה שמחה. Through this, real שמחה happens בבחינת אור צדיקים ישמח. The aspect of the light of righteous of the צדיקים brings שמחה to the world. Why?

The נפש, the individual soul is the בחינה of a candle. How do we know this? We know this. Each each of our נשמות, נר ה', the candles of ה', right now there's about 10 candles in the room, 10 God candles, right? Because there's, each of our נשמות is like one of our ה''s candles.

וכשנכללים יחד, and now he says over here, רבי נחמן says, וכשנכללים יחד, what happens when a bunch of candles come together? Real light happens. And then real שמחה happens, בבחינת אור צדיקים ישמח.

You ever wonder why people write light bonfires on on ל"ג בעומר? Anyone in this room ever ever tried to understand that? Why do we light bonfires on ל"ג בעומר? You've done it your whole lives and you help your kids for weeks schlepping wood to light a bonfire on ל"ג בעומר. Why? Why did you do it? The fire is like that connect to the אש and the whole idea of like the light, you know, like something strong that dies. Why not, why not do it tonight? Well, you said why mamash on ל"ג בעומר? Yes.

Why? It's a light in the world. The זוהר. So that's why we do it on ל"ג בעומר. Say it with confidence.

I'm not testing you now. No, yeah, that's what I was saying. Yeah. That's what you think.

That that is what you think. So he's saying over here, this is why the מנהג of lighting מדורות on ל"ג בעומר. ועניינו, so לפי האמור לעיל, why? הוא השמחה שבהתקבצות נשמות ישראל יחד באהבה. כשם שהצטרפות נרות רבים יוצרת אבוקה אדירה.

Just like when a lot of candles together, what do they form? They form a torch. This Rabbi is saying to us what רבי שמעון is reminding us is that do you want to just be little flashlights in the world, or do you want to be a torch? One time a Jew for J came in to challenge רבי שלמה in the middle of a שיעור. I think I told this to you. And he was bringing little cute little stupid, you know, but it says in Isaiah 24, right? That that kind of talking? And in the mid, רבי שלמה lost his patience.

He said, \"Brother, really, don't flash your, don't put your flashlight on my torch.\" That's what he said to him, that word. Don't put your flashlight on my torch. Wow. Stuck with me forever.

רבי שמעון brings that we make us into a torch. אנן בחביבותא תליא means if we're dependent on really liking each other, it's not enough to be little candles, little מנורות, it's got to be one huge flame. Which is what the מדורה, the bonfire, really is all about. Can you imagine if kids today had that consciousness of when they're going to pick up some wood, that that's what they were thinking about? Why not? Why are we so scared to put that into our children's hearts? Can you imagine how much their their their experience of ל"ג בעומר would be so different?ל"ג בעומר for me was the night that we can get away with smoking without our parents finding out.

That's what ל"ג בעומר was growing up. Because I'll smell anyway from, you know, fire, so I don't have to worry too much about like coming home and. That's what it was, ל"ג בעומר. Yeah.

That's what, mamash, that's what it was here. Noah, am I right? I don't know about the smoking part, but it was a good night. For for for feeling the fire of Just a fun, just a fun night. Right.

Right. In its strength, it can light and it can warm the hearts.

It cannot just light up the world, but the fire of it can torch away and burn away our יצר הרעs as well. What did משה רבינו see through the burning bush? He was able to see that עם ישראל can will be able to get through anything. You know, that's what he saw through that fire.

I mean, this's not the time to get into it now, but רבי שלמה has a long תורה on this. רבי שמעון pulls to him to מירון thousands and thousands of יידן מכל החוגים והעדות, all types of יידן מכל הדעות והגוונים, who have all types of thoughts and the way they practice their life. וכולם כולם מתקבצים יחד באהבה מכוחו הגדול של הצדיק.

And they all come together in love because of the כוח of רבי שמעון. See, really, what's going on in אוהל מנחם as well. שהולך ומתפשט גם לשאר מדורות ישראל בכל מקומות מושבותיהם, and it goes, spreads onto every every bonfire that that happens wherever יידן are sitting, שמצרפים נשמותיהם נרותיהם אחד לאחד, that they're combining their נשמות and their candles one to another, ומגלים כוח קדושת אחדות ישראל בהדלקה זו. And they reveal strength and love of holiness of oneness of עם ישראל with this lighting.

You ever realize that people never, no one ever does a bonfire on his own, unless he's a something's not, you know, something's not clicking, right? It could be, what's it called? A pyro... a pyromaniac, right? Let's see thing, we're not talking about it's a cover. We say generally, you've done it? No.

He said generally, you gave me a look. I'm like, no. You can relate. So generally, people don't choose to do bonfires on their own.

Why? Because there's no ענין of doing it. What the bonfire brings, what it brings out is this ענין of our candles together create a bigger torch. Why not? Why not? If that's the case, then why not? Only with friends that join together with him.And then he continues here.

This is very important for us that are very big, for you especially, Jerry, that are very big into going to קברי צדיקים. When a צדיק dies, what leaves him? Almost everything besides one thing. From the נפש הבאבי.

The נפש, no, the דעת spreads in the whole world. What stays with him himself by the by the body, so it's the lowest level of the נשמה which is called נפש. Okay? The lowest level, like when you go to a צדיק's grave, it's not just you have to really try hard to connect to what once was here, now there's bones. There's an element of the קדושה of the נשמה that resides in the place where the צדיק is.

What what place is that? The נפש, the lowest level of spirit. Where did we learn that from? The זוהר. He himself said it. So if he himself says it on his יארצייט, could you imagine what's going on where he's buried? That's what it's, that's where it is.

Through what happens there, the the the air of the world becomes sanctified. In a way that his words, that רבי שמעון's words can be reached to very, very far.

You know what that means? It's a גמרא. His שם, his name, גורם, cause.

Meaning, saying his word, his name alone has an effect, it causes. So when you say רשב"י, רבי שמעון בר יוחאי, that name itself causes something to go into the world. It's not סתם.

That's why they have the whole שינוי השמות. Just reading it. Carlebach has a song.

He has a song of all the names of the תנאים. You know that song? Carlebach has a song where he's just, it's a whole song of just saying names of the צדיקים. What was his name? His name was שמעון.

And his name, his hearing his name goes in all the countries. So I want to say two things right now. One to freak you out a little bit and one to just to say we're going to do Tuesday. רבי שמעון בר יוחאי is the same גמטריא as רבי נחמן בן פייגא.

Now we just said that his name itself causes greatness in the world. If רבי נחמן have the same, it's not סתם that רבי שמעון בר יוחאי is the same גמטריא as רבי נחמן בן פייגא. It's a very powerful concept, which we might get into on Tuesday or not. But all we learned right now was about what his תיקון was with his students and what the power of a light together and how knowing אנן בחביבותא תליא, it's dependent on how much we actually, it's interesting, it doesn't say אנן באהבה תליא, it says אנן בחביבותא.

We're dependent on how much we like each other, not how much we love each other. Because they tried already with רבי עקיבא to love each other, that didn't work, because the real test is not how much I love you, I'm told I'm supposed to love you. What is it dependent on? How much do I like you? It's a very big difference between how much I love you and how much I like you. I could say I love you because you're part of עמי ישראל, it's all good.

Liking you, that's much, much deeper. אנן בחביבותא תליא, we're dependent not on how much we love each other, how much we truly like each other. And I want us to think about that for the next two days. How much do we like each other? That's what it's about.

Further, it's also, he says over here, it's dependent on the words that רבי שמעון says, that his words that he actually says goes out to the world. Can anyone here tell me a וורט from רבי שמעון בר יוחאי? What's a תורה of רבי שמעון בר יוחאי? So we have to learn a little bit something that רבי שמעון בר יוחאי actually says if we want to, if we want to feel a little bit connected, a bit more, right? It's amazing. We could give ourselves מוסר all day long, because it's it's such a phony. We're so, it's so, it's such a joke.

It's such a joke. רבי שמעון בר יוחאי, ל״ג בעומר, רשב״י, I know his גימטריא is רבי נחמן. Tell me something he's ever said. Wow.

That's what I wanted to start with today. The one thing we do know he says, we're dependent on how much we like each other. I want to learn more from a person that says that kind of a thing.

I want to learn a little bit more. It's really a mind-boggling statement. Look when I was דאווענען in Rabbi Goldberg's שול in Baltimore, not everybody, but there was at the morning מנין, which was more intimate than the שבת morning. We really liked each other.

When we walked into the שול, really during שבת, you can't, I couldn't walk through without getting hugs. Not the of love, I love you. Right, right, right, not that. But just we liked each other.

We were things, we were part of a morning מנין and building and we liked each other. And that's one of the things I've really missed, coming down here. Because there's a lot of good שול-s here. Come to our, come, you have to come for שבת.

You don't get the time of day. No, I'm not blaming them, I'm blaming me. You know, I am not. You get signs on the שטנדר that says please do not use this.

Okay. I'm not trying to be negative. No, no, think about this. אנן בחביבותא תליא, but but please do not touch my שטנדר.

Let's let's get it, let's get it right, guys. It's time to, we got to rearrange the priorities. It's time to rearrange it, you know, we got to do this. This here, Tom just came up to me and gave me a little ברכה and a couple of words.

Because we love, because we like each other. You see what happened to his eye when you walked in here? Did you see what his eyes looked like? No, cause we all happened to like each other, you know. I don't know, ברוך השם. Let's just, let's just like, don't work on the love too much.

No, I'm not talking about love. I can't understand the love. I love you. Let's work on the like.

That's what רבי שמעון is saying. That's the real way. I'm gonna say to my wife from now on, \"Honey, I like you.\" Don't do that. Don't do that.

Well, it might be deeper. You know what? Try it. \"Yeah, I really like you.\" No, no. You know, \"I really like you today.\" \"I love you,\" we know we're supposed to say that.

Right. And she knows it too. It's a game we do. Stop and say, \"You know I really like you?\" I don't know what's in your heart.

The point was really, you know what the point is? Like, you know what I mean, sister, it's so easy to say, \"I love you.\" Do you really know what's going on? If you like someone enough, you'll care to find, yeah, you you'll really want to know.
