Facts
Quantic feat Rationale – Unconditional
- Good news here, as with the release of this single, the UK native veteran musician Will Holland has announced the latest album in the discog, to be released Nov 10.
- The album, titled Dancing While Falling is, per the artist, going to be utilizing the most live elements whilst being both Holland’s most euphoric and mature LP to date.
- Featured artist Rationale stated that writing and composing this track with Quantic was an incredible experience, and the tune comes on the heels of a couple of previously released standalone singles. Once again…
Busta Rhymes feat Coi Leray – LUXURY LIFE
- So by now Busta Rhymes is pretty much a legend in the game who holds appeal for artists of multiple generations nowadays.
- For those unfamiliar with Coi Leray or Bussa Buss, this is certainly not the typical sound for the latter usually, but Leray was given the keys and trust to drive this unique collab standalone, enlisting the assistance of a Jay-Z sample along the way.
Lack of Afro feat DJ Yoda – Enter the Ring
- As stated in the presser for this tune, the artist t/n Adam Gibbons has resurrected after a 2 year hiatus with a new album just out last Friday.
- The latest record from Lack of Afro is titled Square One, available everywhere now, and reflects a clean slate and fresh start for the artist.
Bosq & Keleta – Meji Meji
- Now, this is the b side on a 12” from these artists that dropped back in June, and we’d previously featured the a side titled Sonayon.
- The record also features the dj-friendly instrumentals as the 2nd joints on each side, with both tunes featuring lots of live brass.
Ghost Train Orchestra & Kronos Quartet with Joan As Police Woman – Why Spend A Dark Night With You?
- In what is probably our most interesting and eclectically assembled tune for this week, we have Joan As Police Woman returning to add the vocals on this joint.
- This is from a tribute album the two groups decided to put together to pay homage to Moondog, aka Louis Hardin. The record is titled Songs and Symphoniques, The Music of Moondog, and will be out in full on September 29.
Black Market Brass – Little Ghosts
- Just out last Friday is the Twin Cities-based afrobeat ensemble’s latest album called Hox.
- Per a statement from label Colemine Records, “The band’s third LP is a new take on afrobeat that combines traditional grooves with heavy, hypnotic, sci-fi sounds that reflect the band’s myriad of influences as record collectors across genres.”

Part 2
Adrian Quesada feat Uncle Roy & Spice with The Soul Supporters – Say My Name
Holy Hive & The Shacks – Celeste
Miranda Joan feat CARRTOONS – Bada Bing!
Robohands – Moments
Dallas Tamaira – Stormy
Hailu Mergia – Belew Beduby (Live)

Facts
Adrian Quesada feat Uncle Roy & Spice with The Soul Supporters – Say My Name
- The mastermind behind the incredible sounds of so many records, but most notably Grammy nominated Black Pumas co-founder Adrian Quesada has returned as you knew he definitely would, but maybe not in the manner imagined.
- This is a tune off the Texas Wild compilation album and the 4th single from the record, which is being put together as a fundraiser for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation, with the full album dropping Nov 17.
Holy Hive & The Shacks – Celeste
- This is the 5th single from the upcoming Big Crown Vaults Vol 3 LP, with veteran but already broken up band Holy Hive covering some of the label’s best recent joints.
- The album drops in full on Oct 6, so mark it.
Miranda Joan feat CARRTOONS – Bada Bing!
- For those unfamiliar with the main artist here, this is a Canadian NYC-based artist and the tune itself was supposed to be a one-off collab when initially envisioned.
- However, both CARRTOONS aka Ben Carr and Joan will be out with new albums, this one featuring on Joan’s titled Overstimulated out Nov 10.
Robohands – Moments
- A new joint from our main in London, drummer Andy Baxter right here.
- This is the lead single to a just announced album on the way October 27 titled Palms, so keep a keen eye out for that one if you dug the vibery.
Dallas Tamaira – Stormy
- I’ve been curious about what’s going on here, as there have been a few singles dropped so far this year, and suspicions confirmed with this latest release.
- The Fat Freddy’s Drop lead man is due out with a first ever solo EP titled Levels, and that is out in full Nov 3.
Hailu Mergia – Belew Beduby (Live)
- A new live album on the way from the father of Ethiopian jazz is due out later this year, with this being the first taste of the live record.
- Pioneer Works Swing Live with Hailu Mergia is due out Nov 3 as well, so mark it if ya know what’s good for ya.

The Rolling Stones – Angry
The Rolling Stones are back, and they’ve brought a few famous friends.
“Hackney Diamonds,” the band’s first album of new songs in 18 years, features guest appearances from the likes of Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder. Poignantly, it also features Charlie Watts, the stalwart Stones drummer who died in 2021 after almost six decades in the band. His drumming, recorded in 2019, features on two of the album’s dozen tracks, with Steve Jordan playing on the rest.
Watts’ absence lent a wistful note to the excitement of surviving Stones Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood when they came to east London’s Hackney district on Wednesday to unveil the new album and announce its release date: Oct. 20.
Of Watts, Richards said: “Of course he’s missed incredibly. But thanks to Charlie we have Steve Jordan, who was his recommendation if anything should happen to him.”

Citizen – When I Let You Down
Next month, the fired-up Midwestern alt-rockers Citizen will follow up their 2021 album Life In Your Glass World with their new LP Calling The Dogs. We’ve already posted the early tracks “If You’re Lonely” and “Hyper Trophy,” and now they’ve also dropped the jittery new song “When I Let You Down.”
This video cannot be played because of a problem with your internet connection.(Error Code: 230002)
“When I Let You Down” is a fast, giddy piece of jangle-pop, and it shows plenty of evidence that the Citizen guys got their start in hardcore. In its euphoric pummel, the song reminds me a lot of Angel Du$t. That’s not exactly a stretch, since Citizen leader Mat Kerekes guested on Angel Du$t’s “Very Aggressive” a few months ago. Lyrically, “When I Let You Down” is all about Kerekes’ past friendships and how he hates disappointing the people who were once his life even as he moves on.

The Beaches – What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Paranoid
The Beaches have dropped a new album teaser.
‘What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Paranoid’ is the latest cut from ‘Blame My Ex’, out 15th September.
“‘What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Paranoid’ is a song about feeling intense anxiety after a breakup,” the Canadian four-piece explain. “This had been my experience when my relationship had just ended. I wasn’t used to being on my own, so I found myself feeling really insecure in social situations – which was really surreal because I’m usually very confident and self-assured. However, the more people I’ve shown this song to, the more I’ve come to understand I’m not alone.”

Koyo – Life’s a Pill
Koyo have released a video for their new song “Life’s A Pill”. The video was directed and edited by Eric Richter. The song is off their upcoming album Would You Miss It? which will be out on September 29 via Pure Noise Records. Koyo will be touring the US with Thursday later this month and will be playing a handful of US shows with Pain of Truth in November.

Paint it Black – Famine
The Philadelphia band Paint It Black started in the early ’00s, and they released three albums of fast, passionate, melodic hardcore punk on Jade Tree. Paint It Black haven’t released an album since 2008, and they haven’t released any music at all in a full decade, since the 2013 EP Invisible. But now the band has a new label home at Revelation Records, and they’ll release a new record called Famine this fall. Today, they’ve shared the title track, their first new song in 10 years.

Paint It Black recorded Famine in Oakland with the very busy Deafheaven/Jeff Rosenstock producer Jack Shirley. The song “Famine” is a short, commanding burst with a whole lot on its mind. The tracks’ video mixes live footage of the band with stock footage of lots of things that signify “America” — a classic punk music-video format.
Paint It Black frontman Dan Yemin is also a member of Open City, who will release their new LP Hands In The Honey Jar next month. Here’s what he says about Famine:
It’s important to make things that are real, thoughtful, and not disposable. We don’t just put out a new record because it’s time to put out a new record. We put out a record when we’ve got something to say. We’re a hardcore punk band, and the most important thing, more than velocity or volume, is authenticity. I’m shooting for something real because I want to feel something real and I want to yell it in people’s faces. I want to stir something in people, and I want to make music that I had to stir something in myself to make.”

Worriers – Cloudy and 55
Trust Your Gut, the new full-band studio album from Worriers to follow up spring’s lo-fi DIY effort Warm Blanket, is about three weeks away. Today we get one more advance single to go along with the title track and “Top 5.” It’s a sparse, nostalgic ballad called “Cloudy And 55,” and Lauren Denitzio says this about it:

This song is for your soundtrack to missing Autumn in New York, where every corner has a memory you can’t shake. It’s my song for walking down 5th Avenue in Brooklyn in a denim jacket with big headphones on after it rains when you need to transport yourself back to a different season of your life. It’s not just about the longing for a specific place or time but also about having a deep history with a city where it just becomes a part of you and your relationships. It’s about missing someone in the way where you still see them everywhere.

Streetlight Manifesto – The Three of Us
Longtime Streetlight Manifesto trumpet player Matthew Stewart has died at age 41. The band writes:
Today, Sunday, September 10th, 2023, at around 3:30pm, our friend, trumpet player, and long time Streetlight family member Matthew Brandon Stewart passed away from natural causes. He was surrounded by family and friends. He was 41 years old.
Some of you know Matt strictly from our records or live shows, as a trumpet player whose talent was undeniable; raw, powerful and alive. His playing cut through when it needed to cut through, sang when it was necessary to sing and sat perfectly in the mix when that was what was asked of it. Today you lost a musical powerhouse.
Others of you know Matt a little better, as many of you have interacted with him directly, be it online or after (or before) a show. He was always roaming around, outside of clubs, backstage, next to the bus. And he often had a stranger with him. Whether it was a fan, excited to meet him, a local crew member shooting the shit with a friendly musician or a random homeless dude, sharing a smoke. He was never rude to anyone he met and was quick to make new acquaintances feel comfortable. Today you lost a friendly, wandering spirit, as likely to talk your ear off about jazz as he was to put your name on the guest list of a sold out show.

Modern English – Long in the Tooth
Modern English are officially making a comeback with the song “Long in the Tooth,” their first new music since 2016. It’s the lead single from the British rockers’ previously-announced upcoming album 1 2 3 4.
We mean this as a compliment: “Long in the Tooth” sounds like it could be a few decades old, recalling the scrappy, melodic post-punk of Modern English’s 1981 debut album Mesh & Lace. It’s a retrospective track that attempts to reckon in the grey area between getting older and wiser, but still feeling a bit lost: “I know something/ It might be nothing/ I know something that you don’t know,” singer Robbie Grey chants.
“Modern English and its journey, both musical and personal, has spread over 40+ years, and ‘Long in the Tooth’ is a song about this part of that journey,” Grey explains in a press release. “As we have reached out into the world and all its changes over all those years, it’s a meditation of getting older in a world that still spins in a chaotic and always interesting way.”
Modern English recorded 1 2 3 4 last fall in live studio sessions, accompanied by producer Mario J. McNulty (David Bowie, Lou Reed, Nine Inch Nails). The band say the album’s aim is to capture the energy of their live shows, and “Long in the Tooth” is a good example of that slightly rough-around-the-edges feel.

Chris Catalyst – Emergency
Eureka Machines mastermind, Ugly Kid Joe guitarist, Sister Of Mercy, former Nameless Ghoul, Ginger Wildheart compadre of yore… Yorkshireman Chris Catalyst has worn many rock hats over the last decade or so. Now he’s flying under his own name with this first taste of his new solo album, and it’s a banger. A fine, fighting demonstration of the bittersweet pop rock he does so well – a driving, riffy anthem with a heart of gold and a fierce set of teeth. Want more? Check out the aforementioned album, Mad In England, which comes out 6 October.

Wargasm – Bang Ya Head ft Fred Durst
London-based rock duo Wargasm have released an energetic, hard-hitting new single called “Bang Ya Head” featuring Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit. The song appears on their upcoming debut album, Venom, out October 27th.
“Bang Ya Head” features rave-appropriate electronics and sharp guitars, along with the dueling vocals of Durst and Wargasm singer Milkie Way.
Regarding the new single, Wargasm’s Sam Matlock stated, “When I was working in bars it always drove me insane how much it costs us to live, and how little money we make. The worlds going f**king crazy and everything’s getting so expensive — how the f**k are we meant to buy a life? It’s just this nightmare cycle until you get lucky. Like banging your head against a brick wall over and over and over — you bang your head until you break your f**king neck.”
He continued, “We took that energy and put it onto a guitar at our friend’s house in LA, then a microphone in a bathroom somewhere so the neighbors weren’t too pissed off, then we asked the one and only Fred Durst if he wanted to join in and he did — now we have this monstrosity. We’ve been waiting so damn long for you to hear this.”
“Bang Ya Head” follows Wargasm’s recently released single “Do It So Good,” which has already garnered half-a-million total streams on platforms worldwide.

Explosions in the Sky - Loved Ones
On Friday, Explosions In The Sky, Texan masters of grand-scale instrumental post-rock, will release their new album End. The band has clarified that End will not be their last album, despite that title. Instead, it’s a whole album about the mysteries of death, which is fun. It’s also the first proper Explosions In The Sky album in seven years, though they’ve done soundtrack work in that time. We’ve already posted the early tracks “Ten Billion People” and “Moving On,” and now the band has laid one more monolith on us before the album arrives.
