The truth is the natural world is changing, and we are totally dependent on that world. It provides our food, water, and air, It's the most precious thing that we have and we need to defend it. Sir David Attenborough. I wanted to start with that because I thought it was dead important. My name is Rob and I'm the host of Nature People and Ideas.
Speaker 1:If this is your first time listening, which I imagine it is, what is Nature People and Ideas? Essentially, it is to help to rebuild the connection between us as humans and the natural world. How? By diving into the ideas shaping our future and meeting the people behind them. Nice and simple.
Speaker 1:Really easy concept for everyone to get their head around, and I think it's dead important at the minute, man. I have tried this a few times and I've tried to do scripted and it doesn't really work because it all sounds a little bit forced. You sort of lance you sound like that like every other b list celebrity that's just sort of reading at someone and sort of building nothing. So this is this is a few times in and I just thought, know what? Fuck it.
Speaker 1:Let's just let's just have a chat in it because this is all it's ever gonna be about man. The structure around how I'm gonna lay this out is basically it's gonna be split into two. There's gonna be solo episodes where I do like dives into things like sustainability, what that actually means, what nature can do for our mental health, what steps we can take as individuals to be a part of like a bigger system. And then also chatting to people, man, from all walks of life. And I mean, all walks of life.
Speaker 1:I've had a we've done a fair few interviews already. We've been in this process for about six months and there is everyone you can imagine just talking about what they do. And I think it's ace because I think that especially in this industry you can you can definitely fall into the trap of being seen as like, I don't know, virtue signalling and people creating some sort of moral high ground without any space for discussion. Even like to the point of like eco activism, like yes their message is true and I believe in what they're saying but their mode of delivery is just pissing off the exact people that they need on their side. Do you know what I'm saying?
Speaker 1:I guess it's kind of warranted then to sort of give you a bit of a background on me that I've been in and around nature. I do a lot in the outdoors. It's sort of a massive part of my life. I've worked for multiple charities over the years. I've done a fair few things.
Speaker 1:I mean, I've had over 40 jobs. Let's be real. Everything from scrubbing floors to regional management. Do you know what I'm saying? So I've never really found a purpose, but this has always stayed consistent.
Speaker 1:So I'm trying to build nature, people, and ideas into into a brand with a real message, man, and a real driving force behind it. And above all as well, man, just to have a laugh and, like, actually build a community around like minded people. I want this podcast to to sort of almost create a space where where you can find sources of information and education, but then also a space where you can just escape for a few hours. Because that's the beauty of them, ain't it? Like, really is just to just to sort of go on nice walks or while you're driving or something and just and just just get away from it all, man, and hopefully learn something at the same time.
Speaker 1:So I'm not gonna ramble on for days on end because I've got enough of that to do in the solo episodes. But, yeah, if this sounds like your cup of sea man, hit subscribe on whatever platform that you're listening on and then you can also catch me on Instagram is at JustRobMate. So three words, all one word. Drop me a message on there that you're listening because the date is gonna be few and far between at the minute, man. But, yeah, big love.
Speaker 1:Thank you for clicking on this, and hopefully you'll hear from us soon.
