The London Assembly has announced that it has published a series of letters and outputs to the Mayor, which are aiming to make sure that the next version of the London Plan is able to support all of the city’s communities.
This will also see the policies that are set out in the plan informing planning application decisions across the city.
As part of the process, the Assembly’s Planning and Regeneration Committee investigates how planning can influence, both positively and negatively, the ways that people interact with the capital.

London Councils has announced that boroughs are warning that government-set social rent levels could leave a ‘black hole’ in their social housing finances over the course of four years.
A figure of up to £700 million has been suggested by analysis into the impact of social rent policy on the housing revenue accounts of London’s boroughs, as the need for improved housing conditions and becomes ‘desperate.’
The research has also predicted that councils in London will be forced to make savings to their HRA budgets for the next two decades thanks to social rent constraints and the impact of inflation on finances.

Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has announced that the Mayor has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding that will see a closer partnership forged with Surabaya, the second largest city in Indonesia.
Surabaya is Indonesia’s second largest city after Jakarta and currently has an economy that is growing by more than 5% every year.
Some of these partners include Tranmere Rovers FC supporting Surabaya State University to develop skills, and St Vincent’s School for the Visually Impaired seeking a potential Indonesia-wide rollout of programmes that it has developed in Surabaya.
