Hey guys, welcome to the Reset Podcast.
Once again, we have Pastor Eric Fritz with us from North Carolina at our North Carolina campus.
And we are just going to go right back into what we were talking about last week.
And we talked about identity.
We got into fatherhood.
And I believe, you know, walking the way Christ wants us to walk begins with our connection to God and seeing Him as Father.
We have to have the right lens on.
And even when it comes to prayer, when Jesus was talking about prayer in the New Testament, he said, pray this way, our Father.
Very first words he uses.
He called God Father.
That was radical.
Yeah.
That was a radical statement that Jesus made.
He said, our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
So he calls him Father.
So right there, Jesus shows us how to relate to God, not as some mean person.
As primary.
Primary.
To relate to God in a primary way.
You know what I like about that too is like God doesn't use some sort of comparison that is otherworldly or not understandable.
It's what all of us have, a family.
We all came from a mama and a daddy.
Yeah.
And he's like, you know, there's dimensions of that relationship that can be tainted or tarnished like we talked about.
But at the same time, there's so many parallels that we draw from and we understand more about God and how our relationship can operate or should operate and many times by looking at some of those relationships.
Yeah, and we struggle with that.
We struggle relating to God that way.
We think that decreases his holiness sometimes.
We feel like it decreases our reverence for him sometimes.
You can still relate to God as Father and still see him as holy and be reverent.
I mean, that's what the prayer says.
Yeah.
I mean, it's both and.
Hallowed be thy name.
Hallowed be thy name.
But also, you're my Father.
Yeah.
So God is not so holy that I can't come to him.
Yeah, that's good.
And the only reason we can come to him is because of the blood of Jesus, what Jesus did.
Now we can boldly approach the throne of grace, have confidence doing so.
And that's the key that kind of unlocks the door.
It's understanding that if it was just me alone on my own, yeah, it would be hard to understand and compute that.
But when I understand that it's Christ who made the way for me, I can come with confidence.
You're coming in Christ.
You have been put in Christ at salvation.
So you're not coming on your own merit, your own holiness, your own behavior.
You're coming in through Christ who gives you access to the Father.
He said nobody can get to the Father except by me.
By me.
You know what I think a lot of guys deal with sometimes too is like,
I think maybe they feel sinful.
They feel dirty.
Like I know in Ephesians it talks about coarse jesting, that water cooler talk and stuff, and they've been doing some of that.
And so they feel like they can't go to God.
Because?
Because of that.
They're failures.
Because, right.
However, yeah, I mean, many times that's what it feels like.
I'm not good enough to go to God.
How could I approach it?
I mean, there was times where I felt some of that.
I haven't even read my Bible in X amount of time, and I feel like I've been doing that.
How am I going to go to God right now?
We feel condemned.
God don't want to talk to me.
He don't want to see me.
He don't want to see me right now.
Go to your room.
Right, right, right.
We'll take a time out and come back.
Yeah, go to your room.
I don't want to see you.
So when it comes to this purity that Paul talks about in Ephesians 5, it starts with identity.
Yeah.
Someone once said, all sin is mistaken identity.
We're acting out of our old identity and not our new reality in Christ.
The old man.
The old man.
We keep showing up at the old address.
Yeah.
And we should be showing up in our new address, which is Christ, in the Father's house.
He says, beloved children –
We are his children, man.
And here's the deal.
We're not fighting for approval.
We're fighting from approval.
God approves of you because of Jesus.
That's what religion is, is trying to fight for approval.
Yeah, I'm trying to... How many times, even in our earthly families, we're trying to gain approval from our father.
I did that for years, man.
I could never do anything right for my dad.
He never saw it...
I don't care how good I did it, it was never good enough.
And so I got in this – You could always do it a little bit better.
Yeah, man.
He would always point out, man, you should have did it this way.
I'm like, I did it, man.
It's done.
And you struggle with this approval.
And if you don't really get a grasp on that, if you don't deal with that, you'll find that being played out in your relationship with God.
Yeah.
God doesn't accept me unless I do things perfectly.
And you get into this rat race of perfection.
And that's unattainable.
I mean, you can't be perfect.
So ultimately, it doesn't take you long to realize that.
So therefore, your relationship with God is stifled because you realize your imperfection.
And if that's your worldview, if that's your script, then you're never going to succeed in a relationship with God.
Right?
You're going to continually be backtracked.
I mean, you're never going to progress.
Because you can't.
I mean, you know, about a day goes by.
I don't even know if you do it a day.
Maybe not even that.
If you do it a day, man, let me know.
That's pretty good.
But after he talks about identity in chapter 5, he says this, verse 3, but among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality or of any kind of impurity or greed because these are improper for God's holy people.
Because of who you are.
Yeah, because of who you are.
Yeah.
Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk, or coarse jesting, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.
For of this you can be sure no immoral, impure, or greedy person, such as a person is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of God.
So he says not even a hint of sexual immorality.
How do we define sexual immorality?
How would Paul define that?
Well, you know, Jesus said that even to lust in your heart is as if you committed it.
So, you know, I would say the greatest standard of sexual morality is even what's going on in your imagination.
What are you thinking about?
Joyce Meyer used to say, think about what you're thinking about.
Yeah.
Right?
Pay attention to your thoughts.
And that was in her book, Battlefield of the Mind.
And that was the first Christian book I think I ever – I might have ever read.
I was given it at a really young age, at least the one that I resonated with.
And I realized that's what controls many men's lives is the battlefield of the mind.
Their thought life.
And Jesus in the New Testament didn't lower the bar.
He raised the bar.
He took it higher.
He said, if you even think about it and you lust in your heart, you've committed it.
And that would even differentiate, too, because I think men can really condemn themselves for a thought.
But it's not just simply a thought.
It's lusting after it.
It's the continuous thought that produces the lust.
So if you take the thought captive, you can conquer the lust.
That's the key.
So how do you break that cycle or that habit loop of lust in your life?
You have to break that cycle.
Something has to cut through that habit loop.
that's holding you hostage, and whether that's accountability in small groups, whether that's the Word of God, whether that's a pastor that holds you accountable, you have to have some way to break that loop.
Go exercise.
Do whatever you've got to do to break that.
I know for me, when I was a teenager, man, I dealt with this, man.
I dealt with loss.
I think all guys do, unless there's something wrong with them.
Right, right.
You know.
Let's throw in hormone therapy or something.
Something's probably wrong.
But I did it, man, by just training my eyes, not thinking on those things.
Paul teaches us in Philippians 4 what to think on, what is pure, noble, all these good things.
And so I would have to train my eyes, man, and I had to train my understanding of women who are created in the image of God.
That's a big one.
They're not sex objects.
They're wholly created in God's image, and I need to view them correctly.
But if I don't view God correctly, I'll never view his creation correctly.
And the Bible says you're supposed to look at...
Women, specifically, I think, in the body of Christ is like our sisters.
Sisters.
Like your sister.
You would never look at your sister like that unless there's something wrong with you.
Unless you're perverted.
Yeah, unless you're perverted, right?
But that's the way that you view.
So if there's an untainted version of you viewing your sister correctly, man, you want the best for her.
You don't want to objectify her.
You don't want to hurt her, damage her.
You want to protect her.
You want to protect her.
Matter of fact, it's the opposite.
Yeah.
you'll actually fight on her behalf to make sure she doesn't get hurt.
Yeah, you touched my sister, man.
I got in a fight because somebody hit my sister with an egg one time on Halloween night, and I got suspended from school.
Can you imagine Pastor Archie getting suspended from school?
Man, we had a good tussle, a good throwdown on the field at school the next day, man, because you want to protect your sisters, man.
That's the way it should be in the body of Christ.
Men should be protectors of children, of women.
Yeah.
But if we become passive, we take on this nonchalant attitude.
And when it comes to dealing with these sins in our lives, you cannot take a passive stance.
Paul said fight the good.
Not if you're going to win.
No.
Satan's playing to win.
Yeah.
And he don't fight fair.
He's fighting to win.
He's not fighting fair.
We better get in this fight.
See, but men don't understand it's a fight.
No, they think God's going to take it away.
Yeah, well, God help me.
Yeah.
Or...
I can't, you know, whatever.
I've just lost time after time.
I'm just going to keep on doing it.
Or even the things that I do make me more of a man.
I mean, they're even deceived sometimes.
Now, just to get practical, I would say, you know, because like you said, we've had to break this pattern loop in the way of thinking and the way, you know, ultimately of acting.
Because one thing that you say is you'll behave according to what you believe.
Mm-hmm.
So that's a piece of the puzzle.
But practically, I would say when I had temptation rise up, one thing was I decided beforehand.
Mm-hmm.
I'm not doing that sin anymore.
I'm past that.
And there was something in me that was like, I'm done with that.
And that's why it goes back to an identity thing.
I think a lot of pastors say stuff like, we're all just sinners saved by grace, amen.
And I'm like, no, I'm not a sinner.
The Bible doesn't call me a sinner.
The Bible calls me a saint.
He gave you a new identity, man.
Now, I might slip into sin.
I might.
in a time of weakness, but I'm not a sinner.
That's not my identity.
If I understand that my identity is actually what God calls me, a son, a saint, accepted, beloved, I operate out of that place, and it actually causes me to think about and act according to what I am, not what I used to be.
So I think that's why identity is so important for men to really understand about themselves, because they're going to behave out of what they believe.
All the time.
All the time.
If you don't know you're a saint, here's the deal.
I don't think we so much fall in the sin as we plan to sin.
Yeah.
Make no provision for the flesh.
Yeah.
Don't let anything master you.
Yeah.
Don't become a slave to anything, Romans.
Don't present the members of your bodies as slaves to unrighteousness, but righteousness.
Yeah.
And so I think we plan to sin more than we realize.
Mm-hmm.
We set ourselves up for failure.
Oh, man, I can go here.
I'm good.
I'll be all right.
Yeah, I'll be all right.
And then after it happens, oh, man, I failed.
Right, right.
Oh, man, I'm failing again.
You didn't fall, man.
You ran right into it.
And the book of Genesis says that sin is crouching at the door.
It gives this depiction like it's an animal lying in wait, waiting for you to make the wrong move, and it's going to pounce.
That's how sin is.
It's very deceptive.
God said that Satan was one of the most cunning, craftiest creatures out there.
I mean, that's his game.
And so if he can trick you into thinking that, yeah, you're good or you'll be all right or you can do that or you can get by with that or don't worry about that, it's like then he's got you.
Yeah, and Paul says flee sexual immorality.
The word flee means to run.
Run.
It means to run, guys.
Don't stay there.
And it didn't say pray.
He didn't say speak in tongues.
He didn't say start quoting scripture.
He didn't say, you know, get your men around you with a small girl.
He said run.
What did Joseph do?
Potiphar's wife.
Ran.
He ran so much so that he left his coat.
She grabbed him.
That means even if it's at your expense.
At your expense.
Get out of there.
It's going to cost you something.
Do whatever you need to do to get away from that.
Man, if you've got to leave your cell phone, leave.
Yeah.
You've got to leave your watch, leave.
You've got to run, man.
Your life is more important than that.
Yeah.
Your life.
And if you're married, your wife, your character, your kids, run.
Flee from sexual immorality.
And sometimes we just think sexual immorality is just, you know, if we're married, that's adultery.
If we're not married, that's fornication.
Sexual immorality is any kind of sexual sin outside of the boundaries of marriage.
it's pornography.
It's immoral.
Yeah, it's immoral.
Everything about it is immoral.
When I was growing up, you had to actually go to a store to buy the book.
Now you can just sit in your home on your phone.
That's what I was raised in.
Yeah, sin has become very convenient.
Access it on your computer, right on your phone.
I mean, kids got all kind of ways to figure out how to do it.
Yeah, and so...
How do we set boundaries, man, in that area of our lives?
I think be accountable to – if you're married, be accountable to your wife.
Don't get scared when she picks up your phone.
She'll pick up your phone.
Give her all the passwords.
I don't get nervous when my wife picks up the phone.
I don't.
There's some men that are like, no, you don't know my password.
You can't look at my stuff.
That's crazy.
What are you hiding?
They're Christian men.
That's your wife.
I can understand worldly guys, guys who don't know Christ.
But as you grow in Christ –
What do you have to hide?
Right.
If you're hiding something, take it all the way back to the garden.
You're probably sinning somewhere.
Yeah, no doubt.
No doubt, man.
No doubt.
But I want to try to get practical.
Some things that I do when temptation arises is I'll in the moment go, nope, it's not happening.
And I'll literally out loud say that.
Not doing it.
Because there's power in your words.
There is, man.
And if it's potentially, you know, I don't think everything is demonic in nature, but I'll start praying.
I'll start quoting scripture.
So whether it's just my flesh that's tempting me, whether it is, you know, something else, you know, like, you know, whatever.
I'm like, sometimes I pray in tongues.
Sometimes I pray with my understanding.
Those who walk in the spirit will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
I'm quoting scripture.
I got ones that I have in here.
I don't got to go run to the Bible.
You don't have to find your Bible or get an app and try to find the right verse.
I take my sword out and I'm swinging.
Yeah, you got to know your sword.
Yeah.
You got to know what kind of sword you have.
And if you don't, man, you're going to give in all the time.
And your sword has to be sharpened to fight the kind of battle that you're struggling with.
You can't just know random parts of Scripture.
You have to know Scriptures that are specifically pertaining to what you're struggling with.
And then that's when they're supposed to be used.
When that temptation arises, boom, it's directed.
It's sharp.
It's pointed in that direction.
Even in Jesus' temptation in Luke 4, what did he use?
The Word of God.
But Satan quoted half-truth.
He mixed a little bit of truth.
Yeah, he does.
He mixed a little bit of the truth with lies, and Jesus would come back to him, it is written.
What was the first temptation?
He tried to get Jesus confused about his identity.
Okay.
Yeah, if you are who you said you were.
If you are the Son of God.
Yeah.
If.
Yeah.
He didn't say you are.
He said if you are.
Yeah.
Why?
Because if he can get you confused on your identity, he's got you.
And I feel like that's the day and age in which we live, identity confusion.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That was the original temptation to Jesus right there, man.
Ain't that something?
That's crazy.
He's still got the same trick up his sleeve.
He don't have any new stuff, man.
There's nothing new under the sun.
Satan's – he's a one-trick pony.
Lies.
And when you believe a lie, you empower the liar.
So if I don't know the truth –
I don't know God's word, and I don't use it as a sword.
I'm going to believe the lie, and it empowers the liar to gain access to my life and to control my life.
So I walk in darkness.
And men need to be set free.
He says in verse 8, for you were once darkness, but now you're a light in the Lord.
Live as children of the light.
And the fruit of light consists of goodness, righteousness, and truth.
Find out what pleases the Lord.
Yeah, I like that.
I pulled that particular scripture, Ephesians 5.10.
Carefully determine what pleases the Lord.
Carefully determined.
I mean, we're very careful about our jobs.
We're very careful about certain relationships we really wanna invest in.
We're very careful about detailing our cars and making sure our rims are nice and polished.
Got the gun polished.
Yeah, that's right.
AR-15 is real.
I'm carefully determining how my little trigger is gonna... Ready for duck hunting, deer hunting, all of it, man.
But are you carefully determining what pleases God and living your life accordingly?
I think for many of us, we don't understand this.
There are things that are not sin, but for me, it doesn't please God for me to do them.
Yeah.
That's deep.
You know what I'm saying?
That's deep.
This is not going to please God if I do this, even though it's not even a sin.
I could do it.
I have my Christian freedom.
It's not hurting me or whatever.
I'm good with it.
I can go to heaven.
But does it please God?
Paul said, don't grieve the Holy Spirit.
Within the context of when he said that, he's talking about your words.
We grieve God by our words, cussing, swearing, lies, harshness.
We grieve the Holy Spirit of God that's within us.
Put away all malice and wrath and bitterness.
It's the fruit of the old man, not the fruit of the Spirit.
Yeah, it's stuff that just needs to be put away.
So get practical.
If we're going to live an overcoming life as men, we need to audit our patterns.
What's the patterns in our lives that are becoming destructive forces in our worst moments?
We've talked about thinking, our thinking, our thought patterns, how that affects our, you know, the way that we, you know, and even the way that we believe, you know, what we believe is how we'll behave.
So you have the theology, you have even just, you know, the way that we think on a daily basis.
I think, you know, we talked about how it's all rooted in our identity.
I mean, I don't know what else you think.
Yeah.
Those are huge.
I think if you could straighten some of those out...
Everything else follows.
You understand that identity piece.
You get some theology behind it.
You start making some practical changes in the way that you think.
I mean, Paul says, be transformed by the renewal of your mind.
That's how you live a transformed life, is you renew your mind.
Yeah, when he was talking in Romans 12, too, that's where you got that from.
He says, do not be conformed to the world.
Conformity comes from the outside inward.
Then he says, be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Transformation comes from the inside outward.
So the world is trying to conform you from the outside inward.
into its pattern.
Christ is trying to transform you from the inside by the Holy Spirit, the Word.
And so we've got to determine which form are we going to choose, conformity or transformation?
Which form?
Is it going to be the world's form or Christ, who is the form that we are transformed into and conformed into His image?
So there's an outside conformity and an inside transformation.
And so here's another thing.
He says this in verse 17.
Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.
So you've got to know your why in advance.
Decide your standards before temptation shows up, not during.
Don't try to figure out your standard.
Don't try to figure out the will of God in the temptation.
Know your standard.
Know the Word of God.
Know your convictions, your personal convictions that you have.
And so when that temptation comes, you already know your why.
I'm not doing that.
Just like you said, no.
But if you don't know what to say no to, how are you going to say no?
You know.
He simply says flee sexual immorality.
So that's a no.
Whatever that is, don't act like, well, is this God's will or not?
It is the will of God that you live.
You know what verse my father-in-law will say from time to time, 1 Thessalonians 5.22, abstain from the very appearance of evil.
the very appearance.
So sometimes it's not even about... Especially as a pastor, but more than that, as a Christian, your witness to the world is dependent on how people perceive you, what they see when they see your life, what you're doing, what you're not doing, all of what your life represents.
And
You know, people think that they get away with a bunch of stuff, and you know what?
Sometimes you can.
Not for long.
But it's only a matter of time until ultimately bad company corrupts good morals, and you end up falling and tripping and stumbling.
You know, it's in Hebrews where it says to throw off every weight.
And sin.
So some weights are not sin.
So there's weight in your life that you're carrying that might not be sin, but it's weight.
And it's affecting your run.
It's keeping you from running the race.
Yeah.
Fighting the good fight of faith.
It keeps you from moving forward.
And as you move forward, because it's weight, it exhausts you.
Yeah.
I put that weight vest on when I'm working out, man.
That's a game changer.
You can have it, brother.
You can have that weight vest, man.
How heavy is it?
It's like 20 pounds.
It's not crazy.
My wife has a 12-pound one.
I put that on.
I began to walk on my treadmill.
I was sweating in 30 seconds.
At the end, the whole treadmill was soaked, man.
I was exhausted.
And so then he says in verse 18, be filled with the Holy Spirit.
He says, don't be drunk with wine.
Yeah.
That leads to debauchery, you know, riotous living, craziness.
So he's giving us some contrast.
Yeah.
There's a way that you can be filled with, you know, spirits.
The world.
Yeah, yeah.
Wine.
Don't be filled with wine, but be filled with the Spirit.
The Holy Spirit.
Be under the influence of the Holy Spirit.
Not just a one-time event.
In the Greek, be filled and keep on being filled.
Be being filled.
Yeah, because we're cracked pots.
We're clay vessels.
It leaks out.
I need a new grace every day.
Every day.
His mercy is new every morning.
So everyone is filled by whatever they turn to under stress.
What are you depending on when life gets stressful?
Is it bourbon?
Is it your favorite wine?
Is it binge eating?
Binge watching TV shows?
You can be inebriated on a lot of things.
It's just not wine.
The Bible says cast your cares on God.
If you cast your cares on anything else, you're looking to that thing as God, and it will become your God.
Yeah.
The question is not even if we're being filled.
The question is, what are we being filled with?
Because humans are designed to be filled with something.
Yeah.
Yeah.
God has placed eternity in the heart of men.
And if it's not filled with God, we're going to find something else to try to fill it that never satisfies.
I mean, that's the woman at the well.
That's the whole thing.
Yeah.
You know, filling yourself continually.
You're drinking this water every day and you're never satisfied and you will not be satisfied.
Go get your husband.
No, I don't have one.
You've had five and the one you're with now is not even your husband.
Now, that probably wasn't her fault because in the day in which she lived in, the reason she was probably going through so many divorces because she had no power to write a certificate of divorce, only men in that culture could, it was probably because she couldn't have children.
So she probably was living under rejection.
Mm-hmm.
by her father passed down to her husbands and now living with a God and still feeling rejected, never being filled.
Wow.
And so he says, you know, go get – oh, I perceive you are a prophet.
You don't say.
And, you know, so – and Jesus closes that gap and gives her living water.
But here's the deal, guys.
When it's all said and done, we have to fight the good fight of faith.
Yeah.
John Piper once said, unfought lust will destroy the soul.
If you're not willing to fight, you're not going to win.
You've got to get in the ring.
And men are born to fight.
We're fighters.
You might have to uncover some of that fight a little bit or direct your fight in the right direction.
Sometimes we're fighting all the wrong things.
We're fighting God.
Instead of allowing.
Kicking against his will for our lives.
We don't surrender.
Isn't that what it says about the Apostle Paul?
He's kicking against the goads.
Yeah, he's kicking against God, man.
He's going crazy.
Fighting God's will for your life.
And it's harder to do that.
Yeah.
He says, be alert.
For your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
Then it goes in verse 9 of 1 Peter 5.
He says, resist him standing firm in your faith or in the faith.
So you got to stand firm.
You got to resist him.
You're not going to win if you don't put any resistance up.
But I love what the promise is there, resist him and he'll flee.
It's like if you take your stand for long enough, you'll actually outlast the devil.
With God's power.
Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.
But it takes you standing up and saying, God, I need you to fill me with your strength and your spirit that I would stand again.
And when you do that, when you take that approach, the devil realizes he don't got nothing on you.
I mean, that's what Jesus said.
You know, he didn't have anything in me.
So we have three enemies.
You have the devil.
You have the world, the flesh, the devil.
So you resist the devil.
Yeah.
And you do that long enough, he flees.
You crucify the flesh.
You consider yourself dead to sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.
Mortify the flesh.
Yeah, you crucify it.
You mortify it.
You put it to death.
And the world, Paul said, I am crucified to the world.
Or be not conformed to the pattern of the world.
You have to crucify the world.
Don't be conformed to it.
And you have to fight, man.
All that is resistance, the great resistance.
You have to resist.
It's just not going to happen.
You don't float upstream.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
You never float into victory.
Or you don't find your way into the narrow way.
You find your way into the wide way if you're just walking along with the crowd doing what everybody else is doing.
Yeah.
But narrow is the way that leads to life.
Man, I don't know about you, but I want life.
Yeah.
The moment of temptation, I'm going to give you a framework, and we're going to close this out.
The word anthem.
Avoid the sights and situations that stir up the temptation.
There are some things you just have to avoid.
Hey, if you can't handle the Internet, stay off of it.
Right.
Be disciplined enough.
You know, if things are tripping you up, avoid them.
Remember, the N is no.
You got to say it out loud.
Say it immediately.
Within five seconds, no.
Yeah, I resonated with that.
I do that.
Yeah, you say no, man.
Get out of here.
T is turn.
This is the anthem of our life.
You got to turn your mind towards something greater.
Turn it toward God.
Turn it toward the purpose of God.
Hold.
H is hold.
Hold that better thing in your mind.
Think on these things, Paul said.
Solomon says, as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.
Life change outside of initial salvation happens when our minds are transformed.
Yeah.
I think we would be surprised, too, as opposed to thinking that when I have that kind of thought, God is disgusted with me, God's not in this moment.
As opposed to that, if you would think, no, God, I invite God into this moment.
Holy Spirit, help me to fight this.
God, I welcome you.
It makes a shift.
Quickly.
Yeah.
Fast.
E, enjoy the real satisfaction God offers instead of counterfeit.
Mm-hmm.
That's huge.
The living water.
Living water.
Stop drinking out of a mud hole.
The counterfeit, man.
There's so much counterfeit out there that people use to try to satisfy the longing of their soul.
You know what I realize about self-medication, drugs, alcohol, and everything?
There's a high, but then there's a low.
Yeah, you crash.
Yeah, you crash.
But with God, one of my buddies used to say it like this, ain't no high like the most high.
There's no low.
You stay with God.
He keeps you stable.
It's not a big roller coaster ride all the time.
God keeps you.
He holds you.
He's the anchor in the storm.
That's what keeps you steady.
His word, his life living inside by his spirit.
I mean, that's how you get through.
They actually call it the habit loop or the addiction loop.
At the end of the loop is the crash.
And then it starts all over.
And you've got to get back up again.
You've got to go higher.
Right, right.
And you need more.
Dopamine has to go higher.
Yeah.
Your feeling has to go higher, but the crash is larger at the end.
And so it's just this loop.
You have to find your way out of that through the power of God.
And then M is move.
Get up and do something productive.
Idleness is where lust grows fastest.
Get up and do something productive, man.
Idle mind is a devil's workshop.
That's what they told me growing up.
Keep yourself busy.
Not so busy that you can't grow and you burn out.
But don't let your mind stay idle.
Get in the word of God.
So that's the framework.
And, man, Eric, I appreciate you being with us today, man.
You got any closing words for any guy out there that may be struggling.
It's time for a reset, gentlemen.
Yeah, let's reset this thing, guys.
And you're doing a great job, man.
We love you guys, and we look forward to seeing you next week on Reset.
