So the guest I have for you this week is very special, because they're gonna be the first girl to be on let's chat, rebels. It was about time I added some more feminine energy to this podcast. She is wonderful, spectacular. She is a k pop fan, which we're gonna circle back to at the end of this podcast. I'll let her introduce herself. So whenever you're ready, guests, please introduce yourself, stating your name, age and major,
Unknown Speaker 0:53
okay, all right. Thank you so much for having me. Yes, thank
Unknown Speaker 0:57
you so much for coming. I
Unknown Speaker 0:58
appreciate it. Feels so honored to be the first woman on your that is so special. Yeah, I'm
Unknown Speaker 1:05
really happy too. I'm happy it's you too, that it's like a friend, and I don't know it's time for more girly, pop energy. Yes. Okay, so
Unknown Speaker 1:13
my name is Anisa paleo, and I just turned 21 in August. Yes
Unknown Speaker 1:20
period. Happy late birthday.
Unknown Speaker 1:22
Thank you. So shout out to all of my Leos out there. Yeah, shout out to all the Leos. And if you want, I can share my big three later. Yeah, for those who know astrology, if you know, you
Unknown Speaker 1:36
know, yeah, and
Unknown Speaker 1:39
then it's definitely true. I am going into my fourth year as a marketing major.
Unknown Speaker 1:44
Yes, she's almost graduated. So everyone give her a big congrats for making it this far, almost there. So law school, I know, no, we have a professor who is, well, she's not our professor, technically, but she's a good friend of ours, and kind of our boss, yes, but she's really trying to push us to get into law school. And I, I'm like, debating it, like, if it's like the Legally Blonde movie, then I'm like, maybe, yes, I
Unknown Speaker 2:20
need to watch that movie. You
Unknown Speaker 2:21
still haven't seen it yet. I've been talking about you bring it up.
Unknown Speaker 2:26
I really need to start watching that movie.
Unknown Speaker 2:28
Yeah, it's so cute. I feel like you'd love it. It's just so it's so girly. And I don't know it's for some reason I feel so inspired to become a lawyer after that. Yeah, maybe
Unknown Speaker 2:37
it'll change my mind about going to law school, yeah, we never know, yeah, you never know, yes, but we can talk more about that later. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 2:47
Okay, so are you from Vegas? And if not, where are you from? Okay,
Unknown Speaker 2:51
so yes, I was born and raised here in Las Vegas, and so something interesting about that is my tribe is in Utah, so I'm a member of the Paiute Indian tribe of Utah, and when I tell people that, they sometimes get confused, because they just assume like I was born in Utah, yeah, but I was actually born and raised here in Las Vegas. Oh,
Unknown Speaker 3:13
okay, period, period. So then, why did you choose out of all the schools? Why UNLV?
Unknown Speaker 3:21
I guess just being from Vegas, it was kind of a given that I wanted to stay here for college just because it would be more convenient for me, yeah, more affordable for me, and definitely fair. I cannot imagine myself living on my own, far away from my family. Yeah, I am pretty close with my family, so Yeah, honestly, I imagine myself staying near them at all times, whether we continue to stay here in Vegas or we move somewhere else, I'm just always gonna be where they are.
Unknown Speaker 3:57
I love that. Yeah, I love that. Yeah, I do be missing my family, they're back in LA, but definitely having that support system is very important. So even though they're like, in like LA, I still feel like they're close enough to where I can, like, go visit them. I have to make more of an effort to
Unknown Speaker 4:11
go visit them. They're just like, a 30 minute flight away. Yeah, 30
Unknown Speaker 4:15
minute flight or four hour drive, but the 30 minutes sounds a little more appealing, four hour drive, take that flight. But the one thing I like about driving back home is like, I just, I don't know, I feel less gross than when I'm on a plane, because immediately, when I get off a plane, I'm like, I have to take shower. I have to wash the airport off me. Where, like, after a long drive, I guess I still feel the same way, but like, not as in a rush, I guess.
Unknown Speaker 4:39
Okay, so that's interesting. The opposite, really, honestly, cannot do car rides longer than three hours because I just start to get car sick.
Unknown Speaker 4:52
Yeah, I do too. But you know, it helps, if you like, if you're the one driving, yeah? So usually, if I am doing a. Like road trip, I like being the one that drives, because otherwise, then I get so, so, so, so car sick, yeah, so
Unknown Speaker 5:06
I just get antsy. But yeah, I am a certified passenger princess. Specifically.
Unknown Speaker 5:14
That's fair. Yeah, that is always nice. Okay, so, how would you say that we met?
Unknown Speaker 5:23
So from what I remember, we met, like the beginning of the semester at, like, one of the very first NASA events that was hosted. The event was hosted at the Student Union, at the SCP lounge, is what I think it's called, yeah, but I remember, I was in the middle of playing a board game with Aiden. You're playing Connect Four, and then all of a sudden, I just see you walk in, and I believe you were chatting with Danielle briefly.
Unknown Speaker 5:55
Yeah, no, she's the one that brought me over to the table, because she was like, Oh, come meet. Like, the rest of like, because I went there and I was so nervous, like, I didn't know anyone, so I was just like, I walked in, I felt so awkward. I was like, Oh, okay. I was like, trying to say hi to people. And then all of a sudden, Danielle, she met me, and she's like, Oh my gosh. Like, what tribe are you from? And I was like, Oh, I'm from the Ho Chunk tribe. She's like, what? Oh my gosh. She was like, Here, come meet everyone else. And then so she like, leads me back to the table. We sit down, and then she's like, here meet SO and SO, SO and SO, SO SO. I was like, I could not remember. I'm so bad with names. So she was telling me all these names. I was like, okay, yeah, try my best to, like, take a mental note. But I know I'm not gonna remember you guys name it right away.
Unknown Speaker 6:34
Yeah, no, yeah. I love how Danielle just brings everyone in.
Unknown Speaker 6:38
No, again, she is very inviting and has helped me out a lot already, and I've only known her a few weeks.
Unknown Speaker 6:43
Yeah, it's the same situation for me. Danielle, yeah, it was just all so great. But yeah, I just remember you just sitting at our table, and then after I finished the board game, I went over to go talk to you, because I was like, wow, this is an unfamiliar face, and I feel like I pretty much know everyone's face, and sometimes names there, yeah, but like, I did not recognize you, so I was like, I just
Unknown Speaker 7:10
popped up out of nowhere, yeah. And then yeah. And then Mateo, he was like, immediate, like, like, I don't know what he said. He said something about like, Oh, here's Oh, because they gave us this weird, I don't know what it was, but it did look like a wand. I don't know what it was for. But I was like, Yeah, I don't know it was like, this long stick that they gave in, like, the souvenirs, like, if you came there, I don't know what it was for. Oh,
Unknown Speaker 7:35
okay, yeah.
Unknown Speaker 7:38
He was just like, Oh, I think either gave it to me. And I was like, oh, it's like a wand. And then after that, we started talking about Harry Potter, and then that's how we became friends. And then after that, he was just like, oh, come meet us at the you guys were hanging out at this place and that place, and that's how I kind of started getting to know you guys more since then.
Unknown Speaker 7:55
Yeah, no, I'm just like, so glad you just kind of joined our little community here.
Unknown Speaker 8:00
I definitely needed it. I was like, so nervous, and I was like, I don't know. I'm starting a new school. I don't know anyone. So I'm really glad that I met you guys and I went to that event because my COVID would be such a would not be here doing
Unknown Speaker 8:17
a podcast together. Yeah, maybe, I
Unknown Speaker 8:19
don't know, maybe we would have met somewhere else on campus, but I don't know if it would have been the same, yeah. I
Unknown Speaker 8:24
mean, I feel like we were bound to meet anyway, yeah, but I'm just glad we already met, yeah, just vibing. Vibing.
Unknown Speaker 8:32
Okay, so we already talked about why you chose UNLV, but what do you plan to do with your marketing major?
Unknown Speaker 8:40
Okay, so initially I found myself pursuing a marketing career, the path because I wanted a job that will allow me to express my creativity. Yeah, and then so before this, before I became a marketing major, I was a biology major, because I was actually studying to become a nurse. And for those who don't know, I am half Filipino, and the nursing profession is highly regarded in Filipino culture and families, and so actually my older sister is a nurse, so I kind of thought I would just kind of like follow in those footsteps, yeah, but then I quickly realized I could not imagine myself working in the medical field, because I just hate seeing blood,
Unknown Speaker 9:34
same I know from watching like Doctor shows and everything, I could Not stomach that I even like it, like, like, watching, like, scary movies and seeing blood and like, gory stuff that gives me crazy so I couldn't imagine, like, doing that. I mean, shout out to everyone that does it. Obviously we need people that have, like, like a thick stomach, you know? But, yeah, that's very that's very cool right now. Well, now you're a marketing major. Your sister is the one that's a nurse, yes. How many siblings do you have?
Unknown Speaker 10:04
So I have two older sisters, two older sisters. Oh, that's like me. I
Unknown Speaker 10:09
have two older sisters, really, yeah, two older sisters and one little brother. Oh, how old are they? So
Unknown Speaker 10:15
my middle sister is five years older than me. She is actually turning 26 next week? Oh, wow. So shout out to all my Libras. And then my other sister is 27 the one that's a Nourse, and she is a cancer.
Unknown Speaker 10:34
Oh, hey, like me and my cancer,
Unknown Speaker 10:37
my cancer, girly. I just vibe with you guys. Oh,
Unknown Speaker 10:40
I love that. I mean, yeah, cancer people are pretty cool. I don't know
Unknown Speaker 10:46
my my dad's cancer. Oh, really. And it's like he's a girl dad. So I feel like it just suits him. So way, yeah,
Unknown Speaker 10:53
I could see that. Yeah, okay, I love that. So my sister's my oldest sister, she's 30, and then my other 127's so pretty close in age. That's
Unknown Speaker 11:02
pretty close.
Unknown Speaker 11:03
Wow, that's so cute.
Unknown Speaker 11:06
I know. Okay, so
Unknown Speaker 11:07
wait, did we go back to what you wanna call it? So you said you were biology major, and then you switched to being a marketing major. Yeah. What made you like how long were you a biology major? And then when did you switch?
Unknown Speaker 11:21
So going into UNLV, I was a biology major for like a semester back in like fall 2021 so I was just a freshman, and honestly, I didn't know what I was gonna do. Yeah, I knew what I wanted to do, but I just didn't have my heart set out on nursing. That's fair, because I always had marketing in the back of my mind, but I, like, was scared to kind of take that initiative, to switch my major, but I knew I would have regretted it in the long run. Yeah, if
Unknown Speaker 11:58
you didn't do something you were more passionate about, yes, how did your parents react to and you're like, Oh, hey, mom, dad, I'm changing to being a marketing major.
Unknown Speaker 12:07
Honestly, they were actually really supportive of me, really, oh, they're actually so supportive in everything I do. But the one who kind of took a hit at it was like my grandma, so it was kind of like hard for her to understand that I was like, I didn't want to pursue nursing, yeah? Because, you know, a lot of Filipinos are in that career, but, um, I just told her, like, hey, I want to be a business major. This is what I want to do. Yeah, I'm gonna do it because I want to do it, yeah, something for myself.
Unknown Speaker 12:44
Yes, period, did she eventually like, come around?
Unknown Speaker 12:48
So yeah, she is definitely a little bit older. That's yeah, and so I guess, like, she's just very supportive of me now, yeah,
Unknown Speaker 12:57
well, that's good. That's good. Okay, so when you are back home again just chilling, what do you like to do in your free time?
Unknown Speaker 13:10
So what I like to do in my free time is when I do have the time and when I wake up early enough. Yeah, I love to go on runs and walks with my sisters. I find that so therapeutic, just waking up as the sun rises and then, because it's still so hot in Vegas, we have no choice but to go run early in the morning, because it gets so hot by like 8am yeah. So I enjoy, like, one week
Unknown Speaker 13:41
recently, or was, like, 80 degrees weird. It was really weird. I'm like, what I thought this was just gonna stay like that, and then now we're back up in the hundreds again. And I'm like, What is this? What is I'm like, it's already fall. It's October. Supposed to be, you know, Halloween season, and we're still in the 100 degrees.
Unknown Speaker 13:59
Honestly, it doesn't get cooler in Vegas to, like, after Halloween. I want to say, yeah, it's horrible. That's awful.
Unknown Speaker 14:08
I'm so ready for winter season. I just, I want to wear a hoodie. I took advantage of that 80 degree weather, and I was, like, I put on a hoodie. I was wearing that but like, back in LA it was like an 80 degree day. Was like a hot day, and then here an 80 degree it's like a cold day, like
Unknown Speaker 14:25
it's chilly, let me get my sweater,
Unknown Speaker 14:29
let me bundle up in a big old blanket and like, but yeah,
Unknown Speaker 14:32
I cannot wait for the cold weather, because I love I feel like my outfits are just so much more better cold. I'm
Unknown Speaker 14:40
always under prepared for summer. I have a ton of hoodies and ton of, like, jeans I love wearing. So anytime summer comes around, like I don't have anything and like, I'm always like, well, winter is coming around the corner, so, you know, I had to buy me same
Unknown Speaker 14:55
here, like, I just love winter fashion so much more. The
Unknown Speaker 14:58
layering is. Yes, I'm
Unknown Speaker 15:00
so cozy. I'm
Unknown Speaker 15:01
also not a big fan of wearing, like, shorts, yeah, me too, and dresses like i If I could, I'd wear just jeans and a hoodie all day long every day. But yeah, which I basically still do. But yeah, it's just hot, so I'm like, extra sweaty. No,
Unknown Speaker 15:17
yeah, like the other day in my lecture class, I saw this girl wearing a hoodie, and I was like, You know what? I want to start wearing my hoodies now, even though it's 100 degree, even though it's so hot outside, yeah, I just missed that vibe.
Unknown Speaker 15:31
I know maybe if we just like, keep wearing a hoodie, it'll like, bring a winter faster.
Unknown Speaker 15:35
Yeah, let's manifest
Unknown Speaker 15:38
it. Okay, and then, but Okay, so you said you went on runs, go on walks. Other than that. What do you do?
Unknown Speaker 15:47
So I in my free time when I can, and if there's an event going on in Vegas, I love going to concerts or any type of music festival. I just enjoy live music, just vibing,
Unknown Speaker 16:02
no same I definitely want to go to more live music things. It's just like, I don't know, there's something so special about just being there. Listen to the music. But yeah, you said you went to the I Heart Radio. Okay,
Unknown Speaker 16:16
yeah. So like two weeks ago, I was at the I Heart Radio Music Festival. And then the following week, which was last week, I went to the Life is Beautiful Block Party.
Unknown Speaker 16:26
Ooh, that's exciting. Are we? Is there another life is beautiful event coming up?
Unknown Speaker 16:31
So originally they have it like once a year, yeah. But this year, it was kind of different from the original, life is life is beautiful music festival, because, um, this time it was like a block party, yeah, so they didn't actually have, like, the actual music festival this, yeah, because it was just DJs there. But they said next year they're gonna bring back the actual thing and bring back, like, a bunch of cool artists and everything. Okay, I
Unknown Speaker 16:59
only asked that because my sister just recently sent me a notification for, I think it was life is beautiful or, I don't know, but like happening on October 19. I don't know if you know October 19. Yeah, I thought it was life is beautiful or something. I don't know. But I was like, Wait, didn't you just go to that? Yeah, it might be another event. I might be confusing them. Let
Unknown Speaker 17:17
me look. But yeah, like I said, I just love vibing to live music, and honestly, it could be any genre. So the past month I also, I actually went to my first metal concert. Oh yes, yeah, I
Unknown Speaker 17:33
like that.
Unknown Speaker 17:34
I don't listen to metal, like I said, I appreciate just listening to live music. And I just like, love seeing people also enjoy live music and like it was honestly a vibe. And actually the lead singer of the metal band was native, oh. And so that felt super special, yeah. And I just love seeing our native people out there just doing big things, doing great things.
Unknown Speaker 18:03
Yeah? Me, too. Me too. I know bayaji was, like, telling me about all these, like, metal because she's so into metal, which is so funny, you wouldn't think so yeah, but she's so into metal, and so she's like, Oh yeah, there's like, this concert coming up. And this concert coming up. I'm like, if you ever need someone to go with, like, I'm down, like, no, yeah, let's
Unknown Speaker 18:18
go to the next one together, yeah, it would be such a vibe. And they're actually pretty affordable to go to, yeah, compared to all the other concerts, concerts that I go to, mainly like my k pop concerts, those are really expensive, but I can only imagine, yeah, I just enjoy going to, like these local events, concerts here in Vegas, yeah,
Unknown Speaker 18:40
yeah, same. There's so many. There's so many. I wish I could have gone to like, the Nicki Minaj concert, right? Yeah, I know they were giving away take I keep talking about this. I might have already talked about this on the other podcast, because I'm so salty about it. But like, I went to the football game and they were giving away Nicki Minaj tickets. Oh my gosh. And, yeah, no, I didn't get them. You brought this
Unknown Speaker 18:59
up at the basketball game. So salty. And it was like, girl, you need to go. I would have went, but it was like, the same day as the Life is Beautiful Music Festival thing that I went to, but I totally would have been down to go see Nicki Minaj, yeah.
Unknown Speaker 19:13
Well, if I got the free tickets, otherwise, I'm sorry, Nikki, I can't afford two tickets. Just yet. Just yet. Yeah, okay. Oh, wait, you should bring up your big three now.
Unknown Speaker 19:27
Okay, so I actually don't know exactly what this all means. I just like bringing it up because I think it's definitely like a conversation starter, and it's just fun to kind of get to know a little bit more about people, yeah. So my big theory, I am a Leo Sun, who a Scorpio moon and a Virgo rising, yay. If you know, you know, do what you will with that. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 19:54
I think it's all good. I think I'm assuming. I wish I knew all three of them. But as I was telling you earlier. Year because I was born in Chicago. Our birth certificates don't say the time that we were born. Unfortunately, so. And of course, my parents, they forgot when I was born. I guess that's just the middle child syndrome or something. They're just like, the Forgotten children, is what I like to they're just like, Yeah, I don't know you're born, maybe in the morning, maybe night. I don't know. I hear different things every now and then. So I don't have a specific answer. Wait,
Unknown Speaker 20:27
that is so interesting. I did not know they don't have your birth time on certificates. No, you said Chicago, Chicago? Yeah. I didn't know you were born in Chicago. Yeah, that's crazy.
Unknown Speaker 20:35
I was born in Chicago, and then when I was like, four, five, my family decided to move to LA because my dad got a job opportunity, and my my parents, funny enough, they hated the cold, so they, like, wanted to come out, like, somewhere where it was just like sunny weather all the time, so they wanted to go to LA. So, oh, wait, that's
Unknown Speaker 20:54
so interesting, because last year, this month, it's been a year since I actually went to October. October, Chicago, yeah, spontaneously in October, yeah. And I just love the weather there. It was so cold, yeah? I actually went there for a K pop concert. Oh, really, it was out in Chicago, yeah, it was out in Chicago by the group in hyphen, okay. And then two weeks before that, I was in Glendale, Arizona for the same concert, but I just enjoyed the concert so much I wanted to go see it again. So me and my best friend, we just packed up our bags and just went to Chicago. Yeah, came right back. Had to go to school the next day, but it was all fun.
Unknown Speaker 21:35
Dang. Wait. Okay, so you said this was in Arizona that well, there one in Chicago, one in Arizona, and then you were just like, Okay, let's go. And then just had to come back and go to school. This was in high school. Um, this
Unknown Speaker 21:48
was last year, last year, okay, so last fall semester, and I remember, so there was like a two week period between the Arizona and Chicago show. So during that two week period I kind of went through, like, post concert depression. I don't know if you know that feeling, but it was just so bad. And I was just like, You know what? We only live once. So buy that concert ticket book, that flight book, that hotel and just that's
Unknown Speaker 22:16
so spontaneous. I love that. For you. I love that. Oh, okay, okay. I don't know if I already asked this, but do you like to cook?
Unknown Speaker 22:31
Do I like to cook? So, like I mentioned earlier, I am the youngest out of three siblings, and so I was always kind of just taken care of growing up, and my dad mainly cooks in our household. So I've never really had the opportunity where I had to like cook, but I definitely want to learn now. I think it's time that, like
Unknown Speaker 22:57
I learned how to cook comes in handy. I would like to be able to, like, cook for my children and give them that nice, high cooked meal, but I have a long ways to go just because, yeah, same. I feel like my family didn't really cook a lot growing up, so that kind of habit didn't rub off on me, unfortunately. But I do, I do try to cook for myself right now, now and then, breakfast. Breakfast is my strong suit.
Unknown Speaker 23:21
One thing all cooked is a breakfast. I love breakfast.
Unknown Speaker 23:24
Me too. Then again, it's I feel like I make a good breakfast meal. That's all I'm saying. Like,
Unknown Speaker 23:30
we could literally just start learning to cook together. Yeah? Like, why not
Unknown Speaker 23:34
just share some recipes? It's our next activity.
Unknown Speaker 23:37
Learn how to cook home. Cooked meals are always no, they are. They really are. I love them so much, but I tend to choose convenience over cooking at home, especially just being like a college student right now. Yeah, and like, since you, like, kind of like, live on your own, you kind of have to, you know, plan out your meals and everything. So I can't imagine. Big props to you.
Unknown Speaker 24:04
Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate that. Yeah, no, I didn't even think about it like that. But yeah, I do live on my own, so I have to, like, kind of figure out, like, today, am I cooking at home, or am I eating no,
Unknown Speaker 24:14
are we cooking at home? Are we spending money? But I don't get me wrong, I love eating out. Eating out is like, kind of like one of my love languages. Yeah, I love eating and like sharing a meal with my loved ones. I just love good food here, same,
Unknown Speaker 24:29
same. And there's a lot of good restaurants out here that I'm finding as slowly as I'm moving. Like, been here longer, if that makes sense. Okay, so now, okay, now we're gonna go to the game that I had prepared for you, okay, yes, the game that I have prepared for you with the BTS trivia, because she is a big BTS fan, yes, okay, she may or may not know. These answers already, because we had a little technical difficulty, but we're gonna pretend that you don't know them. Okay, okay, yeah,
Unknown Speaker 25:05
I'm gonna answer them as truthfully. Yes.
Unknown Speaker 25:09
Okay. So first question, How many members are in BTS?
Unknown Speaker 25:14
So there are seven members. There
Unknown Speaker 25:17
are seven members Correct? Yes. Number two, can you name all seven of them? So
Unknown Speaker 25:23
there is Jin there is Rm or Nam June, there is J hope, there is Yoongi or Suga, there is Taehyung or V Jimin. And then Jungkook,
Unknown Speaker 25:39
period, period, okay. And then number three, who was the first member to join BTS?
Unknown Speaker 25:47
The first member to join BTS, it has to be RM,
Unknown Speaker 25:52
yeah. Okay, yeah. Okay. Number four, what year did BTS make their big debut.
Unknown Speaker 26:02
So in my head, I think it's 2012 for some reason, yeah,
Unknown Speaker 26:09
which is close, very close. But the answer is, what
Unknown Speaker 26:14
2013 it's 2013
Unknown Speaker 26:20
she was very close. Okay. And then last question I have for you is, which BTS member created that iconic line, I'm Your Hope. You're my hope during their debut showcase.
Unknown Speaker 26:32
It has to be our sunshine. J hope. And fun fact, he is actually getting released from the military in about two weeks. Oh, he's
Unknown Speaker 26:41
in the military. Yes,
Unknown Speaker 26:42
I did not know. So, like, they're in South Korea, their men have to go through a mandatory military draft. Oh, for about like, two years, yeah. So currently, all the BTS members are doing that right now, yeah. So they kind of put their, like, career on halt.
Unknown Speaker 26:59
I had no idea. Wow. Okay, well, wow. I did not know that that's crazy. That is crazy. Okay? And then for these, for this last part, I like to give people an opportunity to shout out whatever they wanted to shout out, okay,
Unknown Speaker 27:15
so this gives me the perfect opportunity to talk about UNLV able, yes.
