Let's be Frank is an e-commerce podcast produced by the e-commerce agency, Hey Frankie. If you're looking for inside information on how to grow your brand and revenue, this is it. Hey Frankie works with brands ranging from $3 million to $260 million.
Welcome to the Hey Frankie demo podcast. Currently it's a podcast about nothing, and it also doesn't have a name. On today's episode, we'll learn a little about people's podcast, listening habits, toss out some bad ideas, and maybe even come up with a new podcast name.
One question that continues to come to mind is how long a podcast should be.
Should it be 15 minutes, or should we aim for a longer format? An hour, half hour. Fifty ish. What would you think of a shorter version podcast, say 15 minutes? Typically when I turn on a podcast, it's because I'm, like, I'm gonna do an hour of cooking now, and I don't want to futz with my phone. I like, I think the longer format is part of the appeal.
Yeah, short podcasts are, they always seem less than compared to like a two hour podcast. People seem to agree about liking the longer podcast style, and that's when I started wondering if people preferred the NPR storytelling-type format, or if they preferred the more traditional interview format. I like interview.
I go 50 50 on those. I mostly listen to NPR podcasts, so I would probably go with the storytelling. One of the biggest problems with starting a podcast is figuring out what in the world the content should be. While we don't have the idea yet, some ideas did come to light. You know, if we record these calls for clients, could leave out client information, but you try to take stories away that are being talked about in client calls, and then that becomes part of the podcast.
Another idea is you find, let's say Drew has, you know, Drew's Berry company. We get Drew on like, this is my company or maybe we don't talk about it. And he says, you know, this is this core problem that I'm having right now. And then we just brainstorm on the podcast of like, all right, here's some ideas. If we can figure out the content piece, we'll be off to the races.
And if that happens, as you probably know, any great podcast needs a name. The working name, two that were like working ideas for email or a podcast. One is Let's Be Frank and the one that I kind of lean towards is Frankie, Frankie's Notes. I like Let's Be Frank. I feel like that's really clever if you're going to give tips and stuff.
I feel like that sounds very podcasty. So everyone sort of hates Frankie's notes, right? That's just not as much. I feel like too, you could do like a segment on your podcast. It's called Frankie's notes, but I think let's be Frank is like a better umbrella name for a podcast. Today we learned that longer podcasts are preferred over short.
We know we need to figure out our content strategy. And if you ever hear another episode of this podcast, it's going to be under the name, let's be Frank. .
