Hi, and welcome back to the VivaLing English podcast. Today, we’re visiting the Green family. It’s a busy day at home, and everyone has a chore to do. A chore is all those things that we don’t really like to do at home – like wash the dishes or the clothes.
We’re also going to practice verb tenses. Let’s see what each person did yesterday, what they are doing now, and what they are going to do later.
Yesterday, Mother Green had a busy day. She washed the dishes, did the laundry, and cleaned the kitchen. She also made the beds in the morning.
Right now, she’s in the kitchen. She is cooking dinner for the family. It’s spaghetti. She is also setting the table because everyone is going to eat soon.
Later, she is going to tidy up the kitchen. Then, she is going to sit down and relax!
So, what do you remember? Question - What did the Mum do yesterday? If you said wash the dishes, well done! Father Green also helped at home yesterday. He vacuumed the living room and took out the rubbish. He also organized the shelves in the garage.
Now, he is outside. He is watering the plants because the weather is hot. Later, he is going to wash the car.
Question - What is Dad doing now? You got it if you said he is watering the plants.
Their daughter, Emma, helped too. Yesterday, she made her bed and tidied up her bedroom. She also put her clothes away
At the moment, Emma is in her room. She is doing her homework. After that, she is going to dust the furniture in her room.
Question - What is Emma going to do later? Yes. She’s going to dust the furniture in her room.
And what about Jack, Emma’s little brother? Yesterday, he helped Dad take out the rubbish. He also fed the dog
Right now, Jack is playing with the dog. But he has a job to do! Later, he is going to put away his toys.
Question - What did Jack do yesterday? You’re right if you said he helped take out the rubbish.
So, everyone in the Green family helps at home. Yesterday, they did their chores. Today, they are doing their chores. And later, they are going to do some more.
Helping at home is teamwork. When everyone does a little, the whole family has more time to relax and enjoy being together!
Questions - What is the family going to do later? Do more chores and then relax, of course!
What does the Green family think about chores? Mother Green enjoys them. She likes a clean house. Father Green knows they are necessary. He can’t find his tools if his garage is not organized. And Jack and Emma? Well, let’s just say they have other things they enjoy more
And what about you? Your homework: think about chores at your home. What are they, who does them? Talk about one family member in the past, right now and in the future with chores to your VivaLing coach or family member.
