Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.
Will not the Author of our being, the Preserver of our life, the One who
formed us in His own divine image, provide for our necessities if we
but trust in Him? – Steps to Christ, pg. 123
A dense, dank fog lingered in the valley, creating a dismal
effect as it hid the sky like a curtain. The wispy wind whirled around,
knocking the leaves off the trees as if they were confetti at a wedding.
As Dan trudged through the gelid abyss, his fingers became numb
from the frigid temperatures. Burying his hands in his thin pockets, a
thought pricked his mind: it would be a good idea to get a warm pair of
gloves to sustain him through the harsh winter.
Unlocking the front door, Dan strolled inside, happy to finally
be away from the chilly outdoors. As he came into the house, he
announced to his wife that his hands had completely frozen during his
walk. She recommended that he defrost them next to the fireplace. In
a couple minutes, Dan had dozed off. Meanwhile, his loving wife, who
had taken notice of his need, kindly went to town to pick up a pair of
gloves.
A few hours later, Dan woke up from his afternoon doze and
called for his wife. His words evaporated from his lips like vapor: no
response. I wonder where she is, he thought. Just as his thoughts
pirouetted in his brain, the back door opened and in strolled his wife.
“Here you go,” she said, pulling out a small package from the
bag.
“What are these?” he mumbled under his tired breath.
Unwrapping the package, he gasped when he saw what was
inside: warm, winter gloves—the very thing he had needed!
The Bible has promised: “And He shall supply all your need,
according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19
KJV). The One who created us is faithful to provide and delights in
surprising us with gifts when we least expect them.
