Good morning and welcome. Today, we explore the sliding scale of sacrifices in the context of sin offerings. The Torah guides us that if someone commits a transgression and cannot afford an animal, they may bring two birds or, if they are even poorer, a measure of fine flour. This flour offering, however, must be plain, without oil or spices, as it signifies a sin rather than a gift. The priest will take a handful for the altar, making atonement for the sinner. The balance belongs to the priest, highlighting the communal aspect of these offerings. Intriguingly, the Torah emphasizes that the measure of the offering is based on one's financial capacity rather than the severity of the sin. This teaches us about the grace and understanding in divine service. Ultimately, sincere repentance is what brings forgiveness. Remember, the road to atonement is paved with humility and honesty. Embrace the journey. This podcast was produced and sponsored by Daniel Aharonoff.
