A guy on Reddit typed one sentence into GPT-6 Astra, asked it to spin, and the entire 3D pipeline collapsed into a text box. Here is what actually happened, who just got undercut, and the one thing to sell this week before your competitors work it out.
What you get in this video:
- The exact Reddit workflow that turned a concept prompt into a rotatable 3D asset in one chat
- Why Amazon listing agencies, packaging studios, and Fiverr 3D sellers are the exposed line items right now
- The three roles Astra collapses into one seat (and why that seat is the operator, not the artist)
- What Astra probably will NOT do this week (topology, print-ready CAD, final-file polish)
- How to reprice your service around first-draft vs final-file work before every intern with an OpenAI login catches up

Audio edition of the Stewart Vickers AI YouTube video of the same name. Full transcript on this episode page.
The audio edition of the Stewart Vickers AI YouTube channel. Each episode takes one AI release - a model, a tool, a price cut - and translates it into money for business owners: what got cheaper, who got undercut, and what to do about it this week. Operator credibility over theory, specific numbers over vibes. Every episode links the original video and the free Church of SEO Jesus community where the prompts and workflows live.
A guy on Reddit typed one sentence into gpt6astra. He asked for a concept image of a product. Then he asked to Mac it spin. It did, in the same chat. No blender, no FBX export, no freelancer waiting on your purchase order. The entire 3D pipeline just collapsed into a text box.
One prompt, one follow-up, zero software licenses. Nobody in your Slack has noticed yet. I am Stuart Vickers. If you sell packaging mocks, product spins, or Amazon listing renders, your Monday stand-up is about to get awkward. I am going to show you what Astra actually did, who just got undercut, and the one thing to sell this week while your competitors are still hiring modelers. gpt6astra is OpenAI's latest Modal, and the trick is that it holds the concept image and the 3D reconstruction in one conversation.
One prompt for the render, one follow-up for the rotation, no export step, no hand-off. Here is why that matters. Three roles used to touch a product mock, the art director wrote the brief, the 3D modeler built the geometry in Blender or Keyshot, the renderer set the lights, and shot the turntable. Days of coordination for one asset. Astra collapses all three into one seat, and that seat is the operator. The person with the OpenAI login, and a laptop.
Skepticism first. I know what you are thinking. Image to 3D is not new. Meshi did it, Luma did it, Rodan did it. You were right to ignore them, because every one of them needed a separate account, a separate export, and a separate pipeline. Astra kills that friction.
It lives inside the same chat where you already briefed the concept. And here is the headline answer before I lose the people who want the money line. A packaging mock that cost $400 and took three days last month costs one prompt this week. Not cheaper. Free at the margin if you already pay for the Modal. Two things before we go deeper.
First, I cover every Modal release that changes what an operator can build alone, the day it ships. The pipeline that made this video fires on the news itself. Hit subscribe, and the next Astra class drop finds you, instead of you finding it on a competitor's invoice. Second, the copy-paste prompt sequence for this exact workflow is in the pinned comment under this video. And the Church of SEO Jesus is my free school community, where operators are already trading which line items to keep charging for, and which ones to cut. Link is below, it is free coming.
Who just got undercut. Freelance 3D product vendors on Five IR sit anywhere from $30 for a rough turntable to $500 for a photoreal packaging comp. Multiply by revisions, multiply by the three-day wait. Every one of those gigs just met a competitor that does not sleep, does not charge PR revision, and does not miss its Sunday deadline because a client sent the wrong hex code. Amazon listing agencies were the quiet winners of the last three years. $1,500 a month PR client, sometimes more, for product spins and lifestyle renders and A-plus content that mostly meant one competent 3D artist and Photoshop.
Nobody defends that retainer now unless the agency is doing something Astra cannot, and most of them are not. Packaging studios. Same story. A comp deck for a mid-market brand runs $2,000 to $8,000, and it existed because the founder could not build one themselves. Now the founder generates six comps before the client call, and picks the winner live in the meeting. The studio's edge was scarcity of the skill.
The skill just got democratised. Six comps, one meeting, zero foam board. Now the honest part. What Astra probably will not do this week. The mesh geometry is not production clean. If you need topology a rigger can animate, you still need a modeler.
If you need a print-ready file for injection moulding, you still need CAD software. Astra is a first draft machine, not a final file machine. And the operator move is to know exactly which line items are first draft work, and which ones are final file work. First draft work is 80% of the invoice. So what do you actually do this week? Do not build another 3D tool.
War is over before it started. OpenAI is inside the chat, and every founder who was going to pay for a wrapper just got the feature for the price of the seat. Sell the outcome the tool now makes trivial. Amazon listing packages price PR SKU. Packaging comp decks price PR client meeting. Add creative variants price PR campaign week.
The old margin was the modelling hour. The new margin is the taste, the brief, and the client relationship. Sell the outcome, not the hour. The founder who used to hire a modeler now runs their own packaging pipeline. Fine. The founder who used to sell modelling hours has a two month window to reposition as the taste layer before every intern with an OpenAI login is doing the same thing at zero marginal cost.
Two months is generous. It is probably six weeks. The $400 mock is dead. Line item is not the tool. Line item is who owns the outcome. Open chat GPG yourself right now with GPG 6 as true selected.
Prompt it for a concept image of your own product. Then say, now Mac it a rotatable 3D Modal. The result on your screen is the proof, not me telling you. If it fails on your product category, congratulations, that is your defensible niche for the next six weeks. If it works, that is your Monday stand up problem. There is one more angle here that nobody is covering yet.
Add creative shops. Facebook and Instagram ads for physical products live and die on the third and fourth creative variant because the first two are always safe and the winners are always the weird ones. Testing a variant used to mean commissioning a new render or shooting a new photo. Now it means typing a new prompt. The shops that survive are the ones that industrialise the prompt to add workflow before the founders themselves figure it out, which is measured in weeks, not quarters. One more thing.
If you are a working 3D artist watching this, do not panic and do not quit. AskTry is a floor raiser. It raises the floor of what a non-artist can produce, which means the taste ceiling of a real artist just became more valuable, not less. The commodity work is gone. Direction styling and the last 20% of polish are where the money moves. Reposition or get replaced.
The middle ground is not a place to stand for the next 12 months. Before I let you go, the Church of SEO Jesus is my free school community and the link is in the description. Inside are the exact prompt chains people used to fire their packaging freelancer this week. The SKU categories AskTry actually gets right on the first pass and the pricing sheets operators are rewriting for Monday free. Link is in the description. The next video I am cutting is on the specific SKU categories AskTry fumbles on today and how to price a service around the gaps before every intern figures it out.
Watch that one next. The end screen has it queued up right there.
