Save a Seat Podcast

What happens when you stop playing it safe and start seeking the truth of God with everything you have?

Welcome to Save a Seat, a podcast hosted by Christian Makoa and Cole Fryar. This show was born out of a simple vision: to share the things we are actively learning as we aim to live out our faith with boldness and transparency.

The title is our mission. We save a seat for Jesus as the center of every conversation. We save a seat for the guests who join us to share their stories. And most importantly, we save a seat for you, the listener, to join a community that isn’t afraid of the deep end.

We believe the Gospel should be shared without a filter. That is why we are diving into a wide range of topics that define our generation. We talk about the Bible and the nuances of modern relationships. We also tackle the heavy cultural issues that many avoid, including abortion, the LGBT movement, the impact of technology on the soul, mental health, and the future of the Church.

Inspired by a raw and cinematic approach to faith, this podcast is for those who are hungry for something real. We are not here to compromise or ride the fence. We are here to stand firm, speak the truth in love, and encourage you to do the same.

The table is set and the invitation is open. We Save a Seat for you. Will you take it?

Subscribe and join the conversation every Wednesday.

Christian:

One of the final nails in the coffin was actually Charlie Kirk dying.

Cole:

Wow. Yeah. Wait. I'm so curious now.

Christian:

I remember going back to my hotel room that night and being like, okay. I'm at a crossroads here.

Cole:

Yeah.

Christian:

Either I have to fully surrender my life in every area to God or I need to stop calling myself a believer. Because I'm like I'm this is like, like, fundamentally something is wrong here.

Cole:

Dude, that's like, you're talking like crossroads. That's like that's like a t section. That's like

Christian:

Well, I'm like, I can't because I I can be a very analytical logical thinker. I'm like, this is not right. Like, I have to either fully surrender and my actions have to reflect that or I gotta walk away.

Cole:

Oh my goodness. I can't even imagine, dude. I would like have a panic attack, I think. Dude, and it's so scriptural too. Like, oh my gosh.

Cole:

Like Jesus literally says, either you hate your father and your mother. So like okay. So I don't wanna go too much on tangy. But I love I love this so much. If you wanna be my disciple, hate your your father and mother.

Cole:

Not exactly in that, so don't quote me on that. But it's it's just like that concept of like, he's not actually telling us to hate our father and mother. Right. You know? He says honor your father and mother, and your brother, and your sister, you know.

Cole:

Yeah. But it's like in comparison to your whole life. Like your family, your love for your family is like here, and your love for Jesus is like through the roof.

Christian:

Yeah.

Cole:

And it should be that way. And if it's not that way, then you are not truly following God.

Christian:

So if you truly believe that God is the creator of the universe, what is wrong? Like, you have access to him every single day, all day, every day, and you're waking up and choosing like, nah, I'm not gonna pray today. Like, what?

Cole:

Dude, it's so crazy. When you put it that way, it's like mind boggling, honestly. Like, I'm not trying to be mean to anybody out there, what are we doing?

Christian:

Yeah. Like I also I have the hot take that most Christians don't actually believe in heaven.

Cole:

Wait. Okay. Explain. I hate that. That kinda caught me off guard.
