Caroline:

Okay. So the news of Denise Richard spending $25,000 a month has really turned my life upside down in a way that okay. So let's just I have a food log. It's been six years now that I've been keeping that food log. I think that in some ways, growing up in the height of magazine era, I was subconsciously inspired by celebrity food diaries.

Caroline:

I need Denise Richards to release her grocery bills, her credit card statements so we can figure out what she was spending $25,000 a month on food on. Okay. So that comes out to $833 a day. So imagine there's a day where she doesn't spend food. That means the next day, she's spending almost $1,700.

Caroline:

She has two grown children who don't live in the house anymore, one child who does. She's going through a divorce, so it's about to be her soon. We need to know. She needs to come on this podcast. If you know Denise Richards, please reach out to her and tell her that she needs to come here and explain what is happening.

Caroline:

Okay. So this has got me all a stir, and I need to revisit celebrity food diaries to remind ourselves where we've come from where I've come from. Okay. So I'm on a People magazine article. Let's see.

Caroline:

When was it published? Oh, 05/21/2015 by staff author. Okay. So let's talk about Jennifer Lopez. She's the first person mentioned.

Caroline:

Jennifer Lopez has an amazing body, but she doesn't forgo her favorite things to get it. I don't deprive myself, says the five six star, age 45, but I've learned the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. One of her tricks, I always have healthy snacks like fruit and vegetables with me. What vegetables do you think she has on hand at all times? I would love to know.

Caroline:

The star gave us a sneak peek of what she eats in a day. Let's get into it. Hydration. Water throughout the day. Body Lab Tasty Shake Berry Berry Good Smoothie.

Caroline:

One scoop of Body Lab Tasty Shake. Three quarter cup strawberries. One quarter cup blueberries. One quarter cup raspberries. One quarter cup Greek yogurt, one quarter teaspoon cinnamon, one quarter tablespoon honey, one quarter teaspoon fresh lemon juice, one quarter cup ice cubes.

Caroline:

You know, if it's a quarter of a cup, it keeps you skinny because it's just a quarter. I think that's what she's going for here. Could never be a full cup. I mean, I guess this sounds decent, actually. I don't know what body lab tasty shake is.

Caroline:

Probably a pyramid scheme product. Okay. Lunch. Kale salad with queso. One bunch of kale, large stems removed and leaves finely chopped.

Caroline:

Two tablespoons toasted pumpkin seeds. Two third ounce crumbled queso, two third tablespoon fresh lemon juice, two tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, one third of a large shallot minced, sea salt to taste. She only eats salt from the sea. Okay so, queso. Is she saying the word queso?

Caroline:

What does she mean? I thought she meant, like, chili's queso, but it's crumbled. So it's queso frisco, I'm assuming. Why does she call it that? I mean, I don't think she natively I mean, have you heard her speak Spanish?

Caroline:

I think people make fun of her because she can't really speak Spanish. So is this her attempt at pretending? She's just referring to cheese as queso? I do like that these are all recipes. I mean, they're terrible.

Caroline:

Why are you only using two thirds of an ounce of crumbled queso. Two thirds of a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Just do the whole tablespoon. Okay. Snack.

Caroline:

A medium sized apple. No comment. One boneless, skinless grilled chicken breast with one cup sauteed brussels sprouts, half a cup of baked yams with sea salt. Okay. I don't know why that one wasn't a recipe.

Caroline:

This seems like you could also make recipes for all of those. Like, what is in the sauteed brussels sprouts? Imagine eating half a cup of baked yams. What does that mean? Dessert.

Caroline:

Chocolate chip cookie. Total calories, $13.92. Wow. That's cool that they do that. How would they know?

Caroline:

How did you get there? Oh, and then they have a dietitian commenting on her diet. I love the kale salad. The greens give her antioxidants and fill her up without being too calorie heavy. And good for her for only using oil instead of a packaged dressing with artificial ingredients.

Caroline:

Her chicken dinner is an excellent whole food meal, but she could use a little more fat. A little grass fed butter on the yams would taste great. A cookie as an indulgence is definitely okay for a hot mama like J Lo. I think what we've learned from this is we all know why J Lo is so mean to people because she's eating half a cup of yams and pretending like it's okay. There is I mean, this entire menu is devoid of culture.

Caroline:

There's besides the queso reference, besides referring to cheese by the Spanish word for cheese. Maybe it's a, you know, queso fresco, but there's no way of knowing. It wasn't specified. So I hope this gives you a lot to think about. Imagine that you had the opportunity to share your food diary.

Caroline:

Is this what you would share? Your healthiest, my most psychotic day where you're only eating two thirds of an ounce of unnamed cheese. This makes me I hope you guys appreciate the absolute realness of my food log where I am shamelessly eating ice cream for lunch and sharing it with the world. We need we need our finest journalist going after Denise Richards and pulling the truth out of her. We need to know where that $25,000 a month is going.

Caroline:

That $25,000 a month, she's spending more on food per month than her mortgage. And by the way, all of this information came out because she's going through this divorce with Aaron. I don't remember his name. He's seeking alimony. They released her monthly expenses.

Caroline:

Yeah. I mean, I also and this is not gonna surprise you. I also keep a spreadsheet of my monthly expenses. I would say, pretty consistently for the last five years, my average grocery bill for the month, and I buy all the groceries for my household, house of two, is $400 a month, I would say. And sometimes it's it's as low as $2.50 a month.

Caroline:

Sometimes if I'm having guests over and I wanna buy some wine or something, it can go up to $5.05 50. But really, it hovers around the the $400 mark. And I don't eat out a lot. And if I do, sometimes Brian will pay for that. So I'm not taking it out of my budget, but I'll spend about 50 to a $100 a month at restaurants.

Caroline:

And you would think, oh, it's North Carolina. It's cheap. I mean, yeah, cookout is cheap. There's cheap food for sure. But I remember when I first moved here, you know, in 02/2021, I went to get a bagel and a coffee at Benchwarmers Bagels in Raleigh in one of their food halls.

Caroline:

They have, like, four food halls. And, I mean, amazing bagels for not being in New York. And it's made by bolted bread, that, you know, that great bread bakery. I think it was, like, $25 for an iced coffee and a bagel with egg and cheese on it. And I almost thought maybe I transported to a different city.

Caroline:

I was like, I'm in Raleigh, not LA. Why is it $25? Especially coming from New York where and I know it time has a lot of time has passed and everything's more expensive, but, I mean, I could go anywhere and get, like, a bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll and a coffee for 5 or $6. I was driving through New York a few years ago with one of my sisters, couldn't parallel park to save my life. I just got my driver's license.

Caroline:

I got it very late in life. I was holding up traffic in Greenpoint. It was a nightmare. Some guy was clapping and cheering for us, though, so it it worked out. We went to Frankles.

Caroline:

What's that? So trendy. I remember Molly from Bon Appetit did a video there at the height of the Bon Appetit test kitchen era. Frankles deli, I think, in Greenpoint. I spent $60 on two bagels and promptly drove away from New York and never went back.

Caroline:

I have not been back since. I was like, it's over. I'm glad I left. I mean, I see all these videos of restaurants on TikTok in New York, and I do wanna experience them. But at the same time, I think where do I wanna go?

Caroline:

I wanna go to Bur Bernie's and what? Get chicken parm and a giant Caesar salad and a sundae. I can make that at home, and I do. Almost every day. I don't know.

Caroline:

What's a restaurant in New York that's actually worth? Like, going to New York, driving there, trying to park your car, and dropping cash. What's worth it? Because I would really like to see Mary before it or maybe I already missed it. I mean, it's the July.

Caroline:

I have no idea what's going on. I really wanted to see O'Mary with Colas Cola. And I thought, well, I'll go with my sister, Mary. We'll meet up, and we'll go out to eat. But, like, what's worth it?

Caroline:

And I feel like reservations are a big deal way more than when I was in New York. So, anyway, I think I'm gonna make this a little bit of a miniseries, celebrity food logs, not to rip off on celebrity book club, but every time I say it in my head, it's to the tune of celebrity book club's theme song. Maybe they can come on and talk about it with me. But who's next? I mean, JLo, that was a snooze.

Caroline:

I feel bad for her. Let's see who's next in this People magazine lineup. Oh my god. It won't it won't let me see. Help.

Caroline:

Well, it's gonna be a fun surprise for you all because my computer won't let any of us know. Okay. Jennifer Lopez, maybe one day you'll get enough courage to eat a whole cup of baked yams. Until then, goodbye.
