So this week, I'm taking a break from writing content and recording interviews and unpacking the trends in wealth management. There'll be no strategies, no frameworks, just a few thoughts, short and meaningful, as we celebrate the 4th of July. The word that's front and center for me this week is patriotism. Now I don't mean the flag waving fireworks and barbecue kind of patriotism, although that's part of the beauty of this country. I mean something deeper.

the kind of patriotism that honors not just where we've come from, but where we will go so long as we stay committed to building something that lasts. I've always believed that being a business owner in this great country is a privilege. It's not easy. In fact, at times it can be rather challenging, but the fact that we get to wake up every day and choose to build something of value, something that creates jobs, builds trust,

and serves families for generations, now that is an extraordinary gift. And if you're listening to this, you're likely a founder, a leader, or even a future CEO of a wealth advising business. You're not just running a business, you're shaping a small piece of the American economy. And I'd argue you're also contributing to the very idea of what this great country can be, resilient, aspirational,

and full of opportunity for the next generation. This country was built on vision, sacrifice, and the pursuit of something better. Not perfect, let's not kid ourselves, but better. In that sense, being a patriot today might look less like grand gestures and more like making payroll during tough quarters, training your next-generation advisor to take the reins, or staying committed to your values when a quick

deal would be easier. There's a quote I come back to over and over again, and it's this. True patriotism isn't just about loyalty to a nation. It's about responsibility to one another. That's what we're doing as leaders in this profession. We're building enduring firms, not just for ourselves, but for our teams, our clients, and the communities we serve. So this week,

Take the time to recharge, reflect, be proud of what you're building, and be intentional about how you want to show up in the second half of the year. And if you need a little inspiration, remember this. In a world full of noise, complexity, and disruption, you still have the freedom to lead, the freedom to choose excellence, and the freedom to build something that lasts long after you're gone. To me, this is the most

patriotic thing we can do. Thanks again for listening, enjoy the holiday, and I'll be back next week with more.
