Squadify Connects

Before we start to build your clarity on a page, we need to make sure that it's anchored by an external focus. Your team needs to serve its stakeholders and know the context that it works in. Checking on that first will pay huge dividends down the line.

What is Squadify Connects?

Punchy, actionable insights and tips to make the life of the team leader a breeze.

[00:00:00] Pia: Before we start to build your clarity on a page, we need to make sure that it's anchored by an external focus. Your team needs to serve its stakeholders and it knows the context that it works. In checking on that first, we'll pay huge dividends down the line. I'm Pia.

[00:00:17] Dan: and I'm Dan, and this is Squadify Connects. Yeah, look, it's a while since we've asked you to do this, but get a piece of paper and a pen, or if you are extra clever, some way of drawing on a tablet or a laptop. Now, first thing to do is to draw a small circle in the middle of that space that represents your team. Feel free to write the name of your team in that circle if you like. What we're gonna do next is we're gonna draw ever larger ex concentric circles around that one to start with, with one representing the stakeholders you deal with directly. So start with that. They may be your, uh, customers, they may be teams that you deal with who is just outside your team.

[00:00:58] Label that circle and ideally was gonna start to get to actual customers here. Outside that circle. This might be your customer's, customers, or other stakeholders that are one level removed from you. Draw those and label them, thinking always from the inside to the outside. Finally, it's worth putting an outer ring to represent the world that is affecting the end consumers.

[00:01:23] This could be what some people call megatrends. These are the big forces affecting us all in the future. For example, ai, the climate, emergency geopolitics, et cetera. Um, you could even look them up. Just search megatrends to see a few of those and add some of those to your outer circle.

[00:01:39] Pia: So now you are gonna work from the outside in. How will each group change in the coming years? Capture all these changes in each ring working from that outside in, cuz each one is affected by the circle before them. Remember the signaled curve? Well, this is looking at the next curve for all of these groups.

[00:02:02] So finally write a short list of implications for your team. These aren't goals yet, but more of, so what things that you should consider when you build your clarity on a page.

[00:02:15] Dan: And that's your experiment for this week. It's ideally if you can do this with your team, but even if you do that later, take some time on your own or with a buddy to work this one through maintaining an external focus. In this way, we'll keep your team healthy and aligned. So this is a really great start to your clarity on the page.

[00:02:34] Pia: We hope that you've really enjoyed this jaunt into your market and other stakeholders. Take your time to really understand their world and we think it will massively improve yours. See you next week.
