Carrier Oils with Confidence: How to Choose the Right Base for Every Blend
Aromatics International / Natural Living Club live class
Originally recorded May 20, 2026
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well Hello there! Welcome to our event this week. We have so many amazing things to talk about. Our Memorial Day sale for Aromatics.com just kicked off this morning, so I can't wait to give you an inside tour of different options and possibilities for you to stock up on some pretty incredible supplies. So I just want to give you a warm, welcome from us and our entire community in the Natural Living Club at aromatics.com, aromahead.com, and Thrive. We're so happy that you're here, and we're about to make two great recipes together and just spend some time talking about how to choose the right base for your essential oil blends.
And that base is often referred to as a carrier oil. So we're going to look at carrier options, really get to know some featured carrier oils and how they can enhance not only the blend you're working with or you're blending or formulating, but how they can work on their own as just standalone products to enrich your own skincare routine, your own health and wellness lifestyle goals. So I'm so happy that you're here. If you could let us know where you're tuning in from in the comments. If this is your first live event with us, please let us know.
Put a 1 in the comments so we can give you a warm welcome. From all of us who've been here and who are so excited to welcome in new folks. Hello everyone! Hello! Hi Sylvia! We have so many— hi Mocha! We've got so many folks who are here. Jerry Lynn, it's just fantastic to see all of you. Now, as you know, we typically— and we're continuing on— we are giving out our leaderboard prizes for our Natural Living Club. I've had so many questions coming in about when does our new essential oil 6-week chemistry series kickoff.
And we have a tentative start date in our minds that's in June, but I don't want to announce any specific date just yet because it's turning into such a comprehensive 6-week course on 6 fundamental essential oil chemical components and how we can learn to blend using chemistry that we're just really taking our time with it. So we are excited to just continue putting all the love and care and attention into that course before we reveal the start date. It's just taking us longer to do than we thought because we're adding so much more in than we originally planned.
So thank you for your patience. Start date to come soon, sometime early mid-June, but we don't want to again commit to a date. We want to make sure when we do announce that date that we are going to indeed be starting week 1 on that specific date. All right, so I want to give our last 7-day leaderboard participants in the Natural Living Club our $25 gift card thank you for being involved and active. And we know that there are more than just 10 people who are involved and active in the Natural Living Club, in the Natural Living Makeover.
We are still running our 30-day Everyday in May challenge over in the Natural Living Makeover as we're treading water before we start our 6-week chemistry series over there. So I want to give a real special thank you to everyone, even if you've only logged in once or you're just here in the live event You're a part of this community that makes it rich and special. So in particular, these 10 folks have been inside of the Natural Living Club creating conversations, interacting. I have just been— I have put my head down and I have been really working on the chemistry series and our event today.
So I really am so grateful for these folks in particular who are able to answer questions, keep the conversation going in such a meaningful and informed way. So congratulations to Anne, Amy, Rika or Richa, Catherine, Chris, April, Angie, Lisa, Wendy, and Elizabeth. So thank you to all of you. If you could please email us team@aromatics.com. I think Michelle also reaches out as well to make sure you get your $25 gift card to go shop at Aromatics International. Now what's great about the gift cards that we give out is that during this Memorial Day sale, you're able to apply your gift card credit kits.
You're able to apply different things into the Memorial Day sale that we put together. And again, I can't wait to go over those details with you. It's a it's a pretty exciting time to hop on our website at aromatics.com and to stock up on some supplies that you might need. All right, so today is all about carrier oils. Now we've got 4 quiz questions. Even though there's no course pairing with carrier oils, we have 4 different quiz questions generally about carrier oils and the base product we use, which is called carrier, to work with our essential oil blends.
Now, Devin told me I need to get our ingredients melting for our first recipe, so I'm going to go ahead and do that before I keep going with everything else. And this particular recipe is coming from a downloadable guide you have access to. So if you hop over to my computer, which Devin just did because we can read each other's minds at this point, you can go to aromatics.com, and when you do that, you can click on the— it will, it should just pop up for you, but you can go down and put in your email address and it will send you this comprehensive 16-page, 6-recipe guide on how to work with carriers.
It's a really robust educational resource that pairs with learning more about the carrier oils we have selected to really highlight during our Memorial Day sale. So I'm going to go over and show you what it looks like, and we're going to start by blending in this we're going to kick off because we need these, um, we need specifically, we need our, um, it's on page 10, right? Recipe 10 down here. This, we're making our Whipped Shea Combo Butter recipe, which is such a nourishing body butter for enriching, lasting comfort.
So we're going to get our 4 ounces of shea butter and our 4 ounce or 2 ounces of cocoa butter melting right here beside me. We already have it going. Because it's really important that we actually are able to finish making this blend. I think it turned off. Oh yeah, it was just there for you when you're ready. Okay, great. Let's go ahead and fire this guy up. And I would probably put it on 6. Put it on 6. Power button, hold it down. Okay, there we go. Push it to 6.
There we go. Thank you, Devin. All right, so we're going to go ahead and do some measuring. I'm going to make a little room so you can see what I'm doing. Now again, we are making, uh, the one of the recipes, one of the 6 recipes included in this guide called Whipped Chè and Combo Butter. So I'm going to go ahead and get set up with my weight scale here, put it up a little bit closer so you can see what's going on. We're going to start by taring Again, this is heating up nicely, which is great. Devin had it all prepared ahead of time.
We're going to go ahead and do our 4 ounces of— make sure I'm in ounces, I'm in grams right here— 4 ounces of our shea butter. Open that guy up, take off the lid here. Put this over here. I'm gonna chuck it at Devin and then ask for a spoon. An interactive event today.
Thanks, Devin. Excellent catch. I don't know if you want to wave, but Devin has created everything for this event in terms of this particular PDF, all the emails, all the educational materials, and is running it. So thank you so much, Devin. Yep. When you see me, if anything happens wrong on the event, it's probably my fault, so just make sure to put it in the comments. Oh, absolutely not. We're only here today because you set all this up, so thank you so much for that. All right, we're going to go ahead and put in our— we've got our shea. We're going to put in our 4 ounces of shea.
Now it has a thicker, maybe more of a butter texture. It's like a thick margarine or a thick butter, and it is just so much fun to work with. And we need a full 4 ounces of shea in here. It's sticky and it takes a little bit to melt, so we really want to get on this. I think this whole thing is 8 ounces, which is half of it. So let's just get a little bit more aggressive here.
Now, if you've made a whipped butter before, if you could put a 3 into the chat. If you're new at whipped butters, put a 4 into the chat. All right, here we go. We are now at almost 2 ounces of our shea butter in here, which is why we're getting ahead of this before we launch into other things.
All right, here we go. Well, you know, I don't want to admit that I need a bigger spoon because we're almost there. Maybe a bigger spoon. We have 2 more ounces to go. It's the cutest little spoon, but it's taking forever. While Devin's doing that, I'm going to go in and check on your comments here. Okay, great. We've got a lot of 3s and 4s coming in.
Thank you so much. A real spoon. Here's— this is what we need. You know, we need the right aromatherapy tool for the job. There, that's gonna do it. Otherwise the event's just gonna be about me chiseling out some shea. Oh, it's so beautiful. And as you know, we'll talk more about shea, but it's just one of those carriers that's so rich and beautiful for the skin. All right, 3.2, we're almost there. Now you want to be kind of careful and measure out real specifically when you're doing like whipped, whipped butters.
For example, we have 0.4 to go. It's not like a salt scrub where you can just go in and kind of do more guessing. Oh, we've got 0.2 more. We're almost there. See how this does. That's it, 4 exactly. That's great. All right, I'm going to set this off to the side right there. I'm going to put this into my double boiler setup just to get it melting.
Oh, this is going to be great. Get that melting down. Okay, and then the last thing we want to get melting down— and again, I thank you for popping in your experience with, um, your— with whipped body butters, because they're really fun, they're decadent. Your skin will love them. Okay, let's go back over to our recipe. We want 2 ounces of our cocoa butter. We'll talk more about cocoa butter in a minute. 2 ounces of our cocoa butter.
Go ahead, make sure that's on ounces. Still it is. Oh, it smells so good. I love the smell of cocoa butter. And these two combined Almost there. There, 2 ounces exactly of our cocoa butter. Go ahead and pop this in here as well and really get that melting down. Perfect. So now that this is melting down, we are going to go ahead and talk more about carrier oils.
Now I would love to know in the chat if you already have a favorite carrier oil that you like working with. And we ran this question over inside of the Natural Living Club, and it was so interesting. I loved seeing the responses that came in in terms of folks and their favorite carrier oils. Now, what's a great, a great resource for you inside of the Natural Living Club is to— you can search things like carrier oil and you can see different discussions that have happened over the years. We've been here in the Natural Living Club for 3 years.
There's a lot of really great information inside of the group already, you can search different threads. Different folks have popped in their favorite carrier oils, for example, and they have, so there's a rich conversation already happening inside of the Natural Living Club. And you can, uh, go and start conversations, ask conversations. It's a great group to be a part of. So if you're not yet a member, please join us and start interacting today. It's a lot of fun over there.
So I'm going to hop in. We've got Trauma Oil. Jojoba oil. Overwhelmingly, jojoba oil was the favorite when I ran that giveaway last week in terms of, in terms of what folks were really appreciating. Okay, this is melting really well. I love this. So we're going to get this really melting down. I would not mind at all. Let's mention it while we're here. So on any order over $75, and you can, you can pair this with your Memorial Day sale purchases, you're able to choose between 3 free gifts, a 5ml of our Bergamot Essential Oil, which I love this Bergamot
Essential Oil, 100ml of our Peppermint Hydrosol, gorgeous, or you can choose a 1 fluid ounce of our Rosehip Seed Oil, which we're going to talk about in just a moment, which is one of We don't have a favorite carrier. We love them all equally. It's like having a favorite child. But it's one of those carriers that's so nice to have on hand to just help our skin age gracefully and to really help nourish that more mature skin, which is something that is increasingly on my mind these days.
All right, I'm gonna give that another little stir. Okay, let's go review this recipe in full before we continue on so that we know exactly what's coming Yeah, so this Whipped Shea and Combo Butter again is a nourishing body butter for richer lasting comfort. It will yield 9 ounces. So we're working with shea butter, cocoa butter, combo butter, and jojoba oil. So we are now in Direction 1: melt the shea and cocoa butters in a double boiler.
When this is done melting fully— we're almost there— we're going to off heat Stir in the combo butter and jojoba. Then we're gonna— the reason we've started with this is because we're gonna pop it into our freezer because we want this to be a bit quicker. Refrigerate until the top firms. We're going to freeze until the top firms, and then we're going to come back and whip this up like you would whip up whipped cream. And it's just going to be so much fun. It's such a decadent experience. It's great to do with kids. It's good to do with— you can invite a bunch of friends over and do a whipped butter party.
It's a lot of fun. So we'll whip everything together for 3 4 minutes, let it rest, and then repeat until we have it really fluffy and ready to go. And the whole thing should take about 20 to 30 minutes. So I'm excited to walk you through the rest of that process. This is almost there, it has a little bit more melting to do, and then we're going to add in our combo butter.
And our jojoba. Now I want to pre-measure out the 2 ounces of combo butter because when it's ready to go off heat, I want to make sure that we're ready to blend this particular recipe. Okay, take this. Oh, it's such a beautiful color. I got in there a bit too aggressively. All right. Yeah, it's exactly how it smells. It smells a little bit like a really nice beef jerky, but in a really pleasant way.
But that mixed with the cocoa butter and the shea butter, you're not gonna get— your, your whipped body butter won't smell like beef jerky. All right, grab a little paper towel here. Okay, so let's go ahead and measure out our 2 ounces of combo butter. So we're ready to rock and roll. All right, 2 ounces, and this is a total of 4, so it's going to pretty much be half of the container there.
Spoiler alert. Oh, it's so rich and decadent. I love this so much. It's specifically good for just muscle tightness and relaxation. And again, we'll talk more about this once we— because I want to make sure it's in the freezer and we're able to— 2 ounces, perfect, it's exactly what we want. And I'm going to tare this and just go ahead and add in our 1 fluid ounce of jojoba right into that so that we're able just to pour the whole thing in.
Almost. There we go. Perfect. All right, that is now completely melted, right? It's great timing. Okay, now I'm going to take— move this over to the side. Give this over here. Our free gifts right there. I need like a giant kitchen counter is what I need.
Oh, so cute! Just put it— just put it up. Yeah, that's how cute. That's perfect. Okay, let's go ahead and just turn this off. All right, so now we're going to remove this from the heat. There we go. Put that over there so it's not as loud. And then we're going to take our little cute owl tool, and now that we've removed it off the heat, I'm going to go ahead and pour this right in here.
Oh, smelling so good! Give that a little stir. It melts really easily. No longer smells like beef jerky at all. If anything, it smells like a delicious chocolate chip cookie. When you're putting all of these ingredients together, how fun is this? And trust me, if you're intimidated about making your first whipped butter, it's just easy. It goes quick. Just follow the directions and it's going to turn out Now you can add essential oils into whipped butters, but this is an event celebrating our carrier oils, and this is going to be a complete gorgeous blend
all on its own. Ah, it smells so good. Ah, gorgeous. So I'm going to pass this off. It's not hot. I might just move this over. Unless you want this. Devin's gonna go pop it in the freezer. Perfect. It smells like chocolate chips. I know, in like a good way. Now you could of course add in different essential oils for different reasons.
If you're wanting skin healing properties, for example, if you're wanting to work on some scar management, if you're wanting to work on pain and inflammation, if you're wanting to work on just that calming, relaxing feature of our lavender for just more of anxiety relief, depression support, then you can add in different oils based on the thing that you're wanting to blend for. But also you can use it all on its own and it makes a lovely blend.
So that is something that I'm really excited to whip up for you. So again, we're going to Follow the rest of direction 2. Since we've now stirred in the combo butter and jojoba, we're going to refrigerate—freeze for our purposes, because we have only a certain number of minutes in this live event— until the top firms. And then I'm going to take our handy mixer here and just really mix it up, let it rest, mix it up until it's whipped into the consistency that I want to use, which is great.
Okay, I want to check over here in your comments And yes, there are replacements you can do for different things, but what we want to focus on is I want to walk you through the reason we like to turn to different carriers in different moments. So I am going to go ahead and pull up my slides here and I'm almost ready to do that.
Cancel that. Okay, could go full screen here, and we are going to go to presenter mode. All right, here we go. I used a whole different system this week to create my slides, and I'm so excited about it. I was able to incorporate our Thymely Premium app that we have developed over in the Thriving Aromatherapist to go ahead and create the content of my slides, and I'm just so excited about the process that we were—
we've been learning here at aromatics.com. All right, so again, welcome to your live event. We wanted to go ahead and really kick off melting those butters. They can get into the freezer so they're able to whip the recipe that we promised to make with you later on in our time together. And now I want to really go into carrier oils. Oils. They really are often the unsung heroes of every great blend. So we are going to start by exploring the fact that carrier oils are not just background players, right?
Each of these particular, um, each of these particular carriers really shines uniquely on its own and is so good for skincare, but for different reasons. They all shine differently and they all show up differently. And when you can match and mix and put them together, you're able to create even more of a formula for what you're looking for. Maybe dry skin, maybe mature skin, aging skin, maybe acne-prone skin, whatever that might be. These are where our carriers can really come and play a big role.
Now, when you're really specific about which carrier you're choosing, you're going to have even better results with that particular carrier. Now, our skin—all of our skin is unique. And our skin absorbs different carriers at different rates. And so there is a science to choosing which carriers you want to put together in terms of how you want the essential oils in your blend to deliver when you're blending an essential oil aromatherapy blend. Now when you're blending carriers like we're doing right now, the Whipped Shea Combo Butter, that is just carriers and we're looking to really nourish our skin, right?
And so when you're really specific about which carrier you choose, you can really expand on what your blend can do, which is really exciting. Okay, so there are 4 decision points when it comes to deciding which carrier oil to choose, right? So it comes down to texture. Is it light, silky, rich, waxy, or sticky? Different carrier oils have different shelf lives. Now, there are some really precious carrier oils that we recommend buying in smaller quantities because unless you're a formulator or unless you're using a lot of that particular carrier, because it has a shorter shelf life than, say, jojoba, for example, which has a long shelf life.
So it comes down to when you're calculating the shelf life of a DIY blend, the product in that blend that has the shortest shelf life, that creates the shelf life for your entire blend. So if your carrier oil only has a year-long shelf life, that means the blend you have that you're creating only has a total year-long shelf life. We recommend here in our many communities, we recommend making small batches of different products unless you are a formulator, because then you don't need to use a preservative and you're able to use it, make a blend and use it
up more frequently so that you don't have to put in so much thinking in terms of shelf life. And if you do need to use a natural preservative, how you would go about approaching that. Okay, the third thing that we want to keep in mind is the purpose. Is this going on your face? Is this going on your body, your hair? Is this a roll-on? Is this a wash-off? Is this a perfume? You want to keep all of those things in mind when you are deciding what particular carrier to use. You want to make sure that you are taking into consideration formula type.
Is it oil only? Is it water-based like aloe? Is this a soap? Is this a body butter? Or is it a balm? So these are things that you want to keep in to mind when you are deciding what carrier or base do I want to use for my essential oil blend or for whatever product you're formulating, like our Whipped Body Butter. Okay, so this is where our first true or false question comes in, and then once we pop in that question, I will go over to that specific slide because the slide has the answer on it too. So I'm going to head over to our, um, to our YouTube channel over here.
You know what I wish I could do? I wish I could be in two places at one time because I would love to both be in chat hanging out, and I would love to be presenting like I am now. And so I really wish that I could just read every single comment. I always look at the comments after the presentation, and I'm just really thankful for Mina and for our team who's right in there answering comments as we go. And yeah, paniya butter is wonderful for extremely dry skin. I love that. We're ready for the question, our first true or false question.
In. Even though there's no, no course to pair with it, we wanted to go ahead and put in our quiz questions because they're just fun. So maybe you don't know anything about carrier oils, maybe you do. It's just fun to play along and to test your knowledge and to see how much you know. Let's try again. Maybe I need to refresh. Well, I have it on the slide too, so I can— oh, there we go, there we You know, sometimes, you know, can you imagine all the events right now that are simultaneously streaming?
So when YouTube lags for 15 seconds, I always give YouTube a grace period because there's so many live streams happening right now. All right, so here's your first true or false question. Carrier oils are mainly there to dilute essential oils. True or false? Carrier oils are mainly there to dilute essential oils. Now, this could be a discussion as well. It's not necessarily black and white, true or false, but there is an answer I have in mind when it comes to this question. So I'd love to see where you are at with this answer.
So true or false, carrier oils are mainly there to dilute essential oils. All right. Okay. Okay, I love it. So it's not just 100% where we all are in agreement, which I like the dialogue that this can create. So Carrier oils are mainly there to dilute essential oils. True or false? 78% of you said false, 22% said true. Let's head back over to my slides here, wherever I left them.
I'm using a slightly different format, so maybe they just— no, I think they're right here. Here they are. All right, so true or false? So the answer that I intended for this is false, or not only. So Yes, they dilute our essential oils, which is incredibly important. We don't want to have a negative impact by using a high amount of essential oil. It's really important to almost always dilute our essential oils unless you're working on a one-off bug bite or something where it's a unique situation where you would use it undiluted.
But almost always we like to dilute our essential oils. So it is false, or not only they dilute. Yes, but they also shape skin feel, absorption, shelf life, aroma, color, and purpose. So they go well, well, well beyond dilution in terms of the purpose in our aromatherapy practice, which is great. Okay, so let's talk about jojoba. Now, jojoba is the most popular carrier oil in aromatherapy, and for good reason.
It's not technically an oil. It's a liquid wax. I'm going to pop it right over here so it's front and center. It's a liquid wax. It's cold pressed from seeds. Its molecular structure closely resembles our skin, which is why it's so easy to absorb. It's so easy to use. It's beginner friendly. It's clinician friendly. It is so good for almost any skin type. I want to say any skin type, but we always don't want to— we don't want to delve in the affinates, so almost any skin type.
So it gives this particular carrier or base oil a really long shelf life, and it helps extend the shelf life of the more delicate oils when you blend them together. For example, if you blend rosehip seed oil, pomegranate seed oil, cranberry seed oil, it's going to help extend the shelf life of your entire blend, or it at least won't be the problem in that blend. It's going to be the anchor of that blend. So it's really good for facial oils, for balancing oily or acne-prone skin, for roller blends, perfume blends, herbal infusions.
It's very beginner-friendly with a very forgiving shelf life. So if jojoba is a carrier that you put in as one of your favorite carriers to work with, there's a really good reason for that. And so again, if you keep one carrier on your shelf, this is the one to keep on your shelf. And it's a great time to take advantage of our Memorial Day sale, as that is one of the products we have included. Okay, so when you are— again, let's look at 4 different carrier oils. They are very unique, and they are different products that you would reach for for different reasons.
So jojoba is very silky, it's neutral, it's stable, it's mild, almost scentless, it has a long shelf life, and it's a great everyday base. Argan oil, which is very popular as well, is lightly nutty, it's golden, it's rich in the things that we're looking for in terms of oleic, linoleic, and different acids. It absorbs without that residue, which is really important. I love using argan oil. My favorite facial cleanser I've been using for a solid decade now is half aloe vera half argan.
I mix it up, it's 1:1, and that's what I use as my cleanser. And I have for the last 10 years, and I just can't improve upon it. Sometimes I'll do a little bit of hydrosol, I'll do a drop of frankincense or lavender or jasmine into my formula, but that is what I constantly use. I just have half aloe, half argan. It just cleanses, it takes off any makeup that I might be using, and it just really moisturizes and nourishes. I'll even use it as a cleanser. I thought about it in the shower this morning as I was getting ready So I cleansed my face and I just let it sit there for the duration of my shower, and then I washed it off.
And it just really adds in that moisture that I feel is just so helpful for my facial skincare routine. Um, rosehip oil is very light, regenerative. It is earthy, it has a slightly herbaceous aroma, and it's so good for facial blends. But you want to make sure you use 10% or less in different facial blends. Okay, so pomegranate and cranberry seed, very antioxidant, skin regenerative, and a little bit goes a long way.
And these are the oils, for example, rosehip, pomegranate, and cranberry, we would encourage to use in smaller portions but to really incorporate into part of your skincare blends. Whereas jojoba is that just stable, you can use it, it's going to last forever, it's cost-effective. So when you're choosing a different carriers to work with, different bases for your aromatherapy blends, you want to take these things into consideration, right? Which is great. It provides more, I would say it provides more context for what to reach for when.
So this is an additional recipe I wanted to share with you, and let's see, where are we at with time? I think we're doing fine. I wanted to make this recipe with you. Let's go, let's go, let's go check on it before I commit to blending this because I want to make sure we have enough time to do everything that we need to. But this is another recipe I want to make with you, and it's called Mature Skin Glow Facial Oil. And I love this facial oil because it just really soaks in and really just is so cell regenerative, and it just gives you that glowy dewy look.
Liquid already. It's still fully liquid, so let's— we have time to blend this. Okay, so for a 10ml bottle, we are going to use 7ml jojoba, 1.5ml of our argan oil, 1ml of our rosehip seed oil, and 0.5ml of either pomegranate or cranberry seed. And I decided to go with pomegranate seed for this particular blend. So I've got my handy mills right here, right and I'm actually going to blend into this cute little cup.
I'm going to move this over to the side over here, just get set up for our next recipe. I'm going to take away our free gifts, but don't forget, on any order over $75, you can choose between our Peppermint Hydrosol, our Rosehip Seed Oil, or a 5ml of our Bergamot Essential Oil. Which is very fun. Okay, so I'm going to blend this up with you. And again, this is a review that Cynthia made on rosehip seed oil.
So her mature skin just soaks this in. It doesn't leave any oily residue. And our skin, when our skin knows a product is all-natural and, and it's just a product that it wants and needs, it just takes it all in, which is a really cool thing to experience if you haven't yet experienced that when it comes to working with natural base products for aromatherapy blends or carrier oils. Okay, so we are going to put in 70% of our jojoba, which is a 7ml, and again, this is the liquid wax anchor.
It is so compatible with our skin and it really helps stabilize the more delicate oils, which in this case is the Argan, Rosehip, and Pomegranate. So we're going to go ahead and put in 7 mL of our jojoba. This, I think, accidentally got 7 exactly. So there you go. We've been, we've been hitting it today. Yeah, the timing's been great today. All right, we're gonna do 1.5 mL of our Argan oil.
Which is right here. Gotta— I want to make sure that we have room to do everything we need. So we're going to do 1.5 mL of our argan oil. Oh, I got way more than I want. And this is my own— if you're formulating and Sillinger product, and I have jojoba in there, and now I have argan— that's not ideal.
But since it's for my skin, I'm taking this home, I don't mind at all. All right, there's our 1.5 exactly of our argan. Beautiful. This particular argan oil, um, comes from these trees where there's actually goats that also live in the trees, and there's this incredible co-op of women that go and gather the fruits, the nuts, and handcraft this argan oil. It's absolutely beautiful.
Okay, now we're gonna do 1ml of our rosehip seed oil, which is our free gift over here. Rosehip seed oil, 1ml of that. I got 1.5ml again. You know, I'm okay with 1.5ml because this is going to be I'm putting it into a 30ml bottle and this is 10ml total, so for my purposes I'm just fine with, um, 1.5ml of rosehip seed oil. I love rosehip seed oil.
Okay, then we're gonna put in 0.5ml of our pomegranate seed oil right here. Oh, this is gonna be tricky, but we got this. There, that's all we need for that, right in there. Now of course you can blend right into your bottle, but I'm blending into this little cup, and then you can put it into any container you'd like.
Oh, that's perfect. Glass stir rod to blend this up. Give it a little stir. I don't know if you can see that, but— Oh, that's so pretty. A lot goes a long way. Obviously you could quadruple this recipe. You can, you can make as much as you would like of it. That's all I wanted to make today, and it also allows me to use this in a small batch and to use it up.
So I'm going to take this and I'm going to pour it right into this. Arguably, this container is larger than it needs to be, but this is what I had on hand. Okay, really get that in there. After this, I will take a label and I will label this and take it home and use it right after I use my Aloe Argan Oil Cleanser. I've been loving myrrh essential oil to spritz on my skin as a toner, or frankincense hydrosol.
I've been loving that. And this is where I'll take a little bit of this oil and rub it on, and it really soaks in easily. I'll put a little bit on my hand here. It soaks in so easily, and it's nice, really nice for just really moisturizing as a facial oil. Now, if you like to wear natural makeup, um, or makeup, you might want to use this as your moisturizer for the evening when you're going to bed.
Or just play around with it and see what you think in terms of maybe give your skin an hour or half an hour to soak all that in and then put on your natural makeup if that's something you like to do. That might be a good tip because if you use your natural makeup right after this without it soaking in, it could create kind of a shiny feel, I've noticed. So one thing to be aware of when you're getting ready for your day. Okay, so that is this recipe is again called Mature Skin Glow Facial Oil. Now I'm going to put a copy of these slides into the Natural Living Club with a link to this replay in the classroom section of our school community.
So it will live— I'll show you where it's going to live. It's going to live here in the classroom, and I'll move it right here to the top. Now, if you're not yet a member, please join us. We've had so much fun over the years learning together, supporting one another, asking questions, delving into discussions, just sharing what works. Now, we finished up a 6-week Natural Living Makeover, and all of the content is available inside of the Natural Living Club classroom. And this is where, when we do kick off— well, over here inside of the Natural Living Makeover, it's a larger group.
We had thought about putting the 6-week chemistry series inside of the Natural Living Club. We decided to put it into the Natural Living Makeover because it's a bigger group and we want the concepts of the chemistry series to reach, reach a wider audience. So that's why it's going inside of the Natural Living Makeover over here. Again, that start date is coming into June and we don't have it specifically pinned down, but we will let you know when we do have an official start date for that. So thank you so much for your patience. I've had a lot of questions coming in about that.
So I wanted to clarify that on our event today. Okay, I want to check in on your, on your comments and see if you do have any questions. Thankfully, Chris and Mina and so many of our involved NLC members and our community members, and of course Mina is such an incredible resource, are here answering as we go. So thank you. Karen is away in Toronto. She's attending a week-long course learning all kinds of things that she's going to bring back, and she'll be able to incorporate into to her teaching and etc.
So she's not here today, but she is off learning, and I'm very excited to hear everything that she's learning about. All right, let's go ahead and go back to our slides, I believe, was the next best thing. Go to presenter mode here, and I want to make sure that I didn't miss anything, and I did miss something. So let's go back up here. Okay, so I believe our quiz question is next. Yes, our next— our second quiz question is next up.
Here we go. It's another true or false. Okay, true or false? I think I gave this away earlier. True or false? The shelf life of a blend is only as long as its shortest-lived ingredient. True or false? The shelf life of a blend is only as long as its shortest-lived ingredient. Ingredient. Now, this is true when it comes to our base carrier oils, when it comes to our essential oils, and the combination of all those things specifically. All right, so the shelf life of a blend is only as long as its shortest-lived shelf life.
Okay, and the answers are in. There it is. All right, so we've got A+ students here. So it's true. It's very true. So the shelf life of a blend is only as long as its shortest living ingredient is true. So a stable base like jojoba can't rescue a blend where the rosehip has turned, and many feature oils— rosehip, hemp seed, pomegranate, and cranberry— are best purchased in small, used fresh, and stored
well. And that's just a trick, a tip and trick to make sure that your products stay as fresh as possible. When you're using fresh, vibrant ingredients when it comes to aromatherapy blending, your kitchen ingredients, life in general, you're going to have a better result and a better impact on your health and wellness when you are working with fresh ingredients. So again, keep in mind that you need to keep your products in cool, dark places, closed and dated. Now, your carrier oils, with the exception of aloe, do not need to go into the refrigerator.
They appreciate a cool, dark place like olive oil, but they don't necessarily need to be kept chilled. And in fact, if you chill your carrier oils, some of them will turn a different consistency, which when you take them out of the refrigerator and warm them up, they melt again. But that's something to be taken into— keep in mind as well. Okay, so I want to tell you a little bit about Trauma Oil. If you are new to Trauma Oil, it's another one of those oils to definitely have on your shelf when it comes to so many things pertaining to pain and inflammation.
So Trauma Oil really should be named anti-trauma oil because it not create trauma, but it comes in so handy when trauma has been— when you are experiencing trauma, whether it's from sore muscles, an injury, any kind of tightness. This is where you would turn to when it comes to a carrier that can really help with those things intentionally. One of my really good friends, she has dealt with back pain her whole life. It came on when she was pregnant with her twins, and she has Trauma Oil around all the time, and she doesn't even put any essential oils in it.
She just puts it on, and it really gives her relief in terms of the pain and inflammation in her back. So these are— trauma oil is actually 3 different infused, herbal-infused carriers into one. So they, um, the 3 are Arnica, St. John's Wort, and calendula, and it's a beautiful process of wildcrafting, cultivating in the, in the case of calendula, but wildcrafting Arnica and St.
John's Wort, and then putting it into olive oil, and then setting it out into the sun, stirring it twice a day for weeks on end gives it a beautiful enriched herbal infusion. So those 3 herbal infusions are combined to create what we know as Trauma Oil, and it's such a gorgeous oil to have on your shelf. Okay, I'm gonna need to hurry it along. Not every base is an oil. So things like water-based products such as aloe vera gel and hydrosols are water-based.
So this is a big deal in terms of, um, shelf life and in terms of, um, preservation rules, right? So you want to make sure that when you are working with aloe vera and hydrosol, you want to make sure that you have another carrier involved or that you have a dispersant involved, or that you're just using it on its own, because oil and water don't mix. So your essential oils are not going to just mix into your aloe vera gel easily. Same with hydrosols.
You need a soluble, or you need another carrier oil, another base oil, to come into play so that everything mixes well and you don't have too much essential oil concentrated onto your skin. So again, when you are working with water, you need to be thinking about preservatives on some level, only if you are blending in large batches or you want that blend to last for a long time. So we really like to recommend small batches, formulating without a preservative, refrigerate and use within 2 to 3 weeks if you are working with a water-based product.
Okay, another true or false question. I'm gonna just leave it here. I don't think we need to load it in, Devin, because I think we have just a few minutes left, so I'm just going to fly through the rest of these slides. Perfect. So true or false, um, here's your question: a water base, um, like aloe vera gel changes how you think about preservation. preservation. True. So once again, the water enters the formula, you have the potential of microbial growth, and so if you don't add a preservative.
And we talked a lot about preservatives inside of the Natural Living Makeover. If you just type in preservatives, we have a lot of information inside of the coursework in the classroom and also inside of the discussions. And we recommend 3— I believe it's 2 or 3 different natural preservatives that are as natural as you can get when it comes to adding that into your, into your blends. But again, if you're just doing small batch blending and you use that up within 2 to 3 weeks, that's our, that's our preference. We like to avoid preservatives if we can.
Good news, we're solidifying. I would say maybe 2 more minutes, we can whip that up. Great, 2 more minutes and then we'll take a break from what we're doing and we will whip this up. Now there's a lot more information in these slides. For example, we go into argan oil, what it does, where it comes from, where it belongs, how to keep it. So we don't have time to go through all of these slides, but what I do want to do is I want to make sure that you know the ins and the outs of a Memorial Day sale since it's happening now. So I want to take a moment to pivot away from this slide deck.
I got overly ambitious. I think we would be here for another 35 minutes if I were to keep going. I just wanted to include a lot of information about each of the highlighted 11 carriers in this, um, that we've been working with and blending with. This information is available for you who— if you're in the Natural Living Club, I'll pop it in the classroom. I'll put a copy of— I'll put a PDF of the information as well as a link to the play inside of the classroom sometime this afternoon. So you'll have access to that if you are a Natural Living Club member.
So we're going to pivot away from our presentation and I want to head over to details on our Memorial Day sale. It's one of our most popular sales of the year. Everything site-wide is on sale. It's either 10% off all the way up to 80% off pure vibrant products. So if you do want to stock up, please, please, please do so. This is a great time to do that. So again, you get your choice of bergamot, peppermint hydrosol, or rosehip seed oil on any order over $75.
Now free shipping on any order over $99, um, and this ends up on Memorial Day, which is Monday the 25th at midnight Pacific time. So what you can do is go to aromatics.com. This will pop up, you can get the field guide that we've created for you. That's the recipe where the whipped shea combo butter comes from. Or you can get it emailed to you right here, which is the best way to do that. Okay, I'll also put a copy of that specific guide, which looks like this.
I'll put a copy of this guide in the Natural Living Club as well. So you have you have your field guide to this, to our carrier oils, specifically for summer skincare. And just if we linger on the table of contents, we're gonna talk about inside of this guide, what is a carrier? That's that base oil that we blend our essential oils into. Why carriers matter, 6 gorgeous recipes, and then looking more into carrier oils, butters, waxes, infused carriers, clays, resins, lotions, our 4 different brands and the Aromatherapy Recipes app, which has over 2,000 recipes
and it's all of these recipes are also in there. We're trying to give you as many resources as possible so you're able to find whatever information you need instantaneously, almost, and with that confidence that we've put it together in a way that's, um, solid and you're going to really appreciate it. So, okay, let's go back over to the sale over here. So let's shop the sale. And I don't know about you, if you already have a list of things you want to stock up on, if you could pop that into the comments because I'm just very excited to see what you want to stock up on or what you want to try.
Maybe combo butter is new for you, maybe pawnee butter is new for you, maybe you want to stock up on jojoba, whatever it might be. Um, let us know in the chat because it's just fun to see what we're all going to go and, uh, purchase with this particular promotion. So I know, right? I love this field guide too. Devin did such a great job putting it together. Devin and Karen. Okay, so again, everything site-wide is up to 80% off. It's our biggest sale of the year. Now what's really— if you're not on our email list yet, we really try to send thoughtful communication.
So go to make sure you're on our email list, make sure we're in as a contact. So we're going to be sending out informational emails on carriers over the next 5 days. And I would love for you to be in that flow so that you're able to learn more about the highlighted carrier of the day. So please join our email list and make sure that you are subscribed to this YouTube channel as well. That would be so helpful in terms of us being able to communicate all of this beautiful content with you. So it starts today and it ends Monday, May 25th at midnight Pacific time.
So keep in mind that you can combine AromaDrops or one unused promo code. You can only do one, you can't do more than one. So you are able to combine different things some bulk items and some shipping exclusions apply. So if that is a question you have, just email team@aromatics.com. Otherwise, the world is your oyster when it comes to everything on sale. So go through, see what you want to stock up on. I mean, 20% off jojoba, that's incredible.
50% off tea tree, it's just fantastic. Discount filter there on the side. Okay, great. That will show you all the deals. Oh, how nice. If you're looking at price point shopping, uh-huh, have a play with that right there. I mean, check this out. So I'm at aromatics.com, I'm down here on my dropdown on the left, so I can go to— I want to say, okay, what's 50% off? I can click that. If you're really shopping deals, coconut oil is 50% off.
Incredible. Combo butter is 50% off. I love this. So I'm going to shop Myrrh Hydrosol right after we're done with this right now. I ran out and I don't like to be out of Myrrh Hydrosol. That's a good point. The hydrosols, we actually have the least amount on shelf. So if you're looking at hydrosols, now is definitely the time to buy. So what Devin just said, in case you didn't pick that up, is so some of these products we only have 10 units available, 50 units available, 5 units available. So if there's something you know you want, make sure you get it right away because once myrrh is done, myrrh hydrosol is done, it's done until our distiller or our producer creates more of it.
And usually that's a summer thing, not always. With the resins, that could be a fall thing. So if you are interested in our product, make sure you get in early and make sure you lock in your order because we are going to start running out of things because it's again our biggest sale of the year. So I'm going to hop over in your comments here because I want to make sure that if you do have questions I am able to answer them. I know, I love it too, Vera. I've been really appreciating that, that we over at Aromatics break down cost per mL.
It really is helpful to see, you know, that an oil is $4 a mL versus like $20 a mL. It's really helpful just to break it down that way. And I really appreciate that too. Oh good, Donna's like, myrrh hydrosol is so great. I know, I love it. And we've got, my cats are letting me know it's not like completely— there's still a little liquid, but I think it's enough to whip it. That sounds good. All right, well, it's at least enough to whip it so that you have an idea, a general idea of what's going on and how to do this at home. So let's go ahead and move this over a little bit.
I'm going to take this over here. We're going to take this over here and this All right, that's a great idea. I love that. Yes, so to clarify, they can use AromaDrops with Thrive Discount. Yes, you can. I love that you can do that, Tanya. You can combine AromaDrops with your Thrive Discount. That's incredible.
I would go shopping immediately. Okay, so I've got my mixer here. Here. Everything is ready to go. Let's go ahead and whip this up. How fun is this? Okay, going to go ahead and— Turn on.
I mean, you can already see that texture changing. And like we were just— Devin and I said that you probably couldn't hear— this is going to take 3 or 4 minutes. So I might go another minute just to show you the progress, um, and we'll see how that goes. But I don't know that I want to keep you here for 5 minutes whipping But we'll see.
I mean, come on, how cool is that? So I've already got a consistency of whipped cream coming along, and this is where it really comes down to your personal preference on how thick or thin you like. Oh, that just goes on so nicely. Nicely. Yeah, that's a great idea. Remember when we did this before, we actually over whipped it. Yes, and then it became truly a butter. We over whipped it and became a butter and we had to add more oil in. We have a new spoon because that has some shea butter on it because I want to show you even better what this looks like.
Devin ran off to grab a spoon. Um, Deborah is saying, can you make it without the chocolate smell? Yeah, you absolutely can. So the chocolate smell is coming from the cocoa butter and you could definitely substitute out the cocoa butter. Now what's really fun is if you are on our recipe app or you are in our Thriving Aromatherapist community specifically, you can ask— you can find this recipe in the recipes app. It's 2,000+ recipes for $9.99 a year. It's incredible. You can actually ask Thymely Light, which is our AI personal assistant, or just our personal information assistant.
You can ask it, I don't want this to smell like chocolate, what can I use in place of cocoa butter? And it will give you options. It's absolutely brilliant. I love this time of history that we're living in. I know it can feel scary, and some of it is, but a lot of it is just so exciting. And I think it's good to just embrace where things are heading. We have a lot of advantages because of that. All right, so I'm going to go ahead and just show you. So right now, look at that. Oh my goodness. I'll drop it this way so you can see. That is like just rich mousse, right?
I love that so much. So again, this is going to come down to personal preference if you want to keep blending. Now, according to the recipe, you would blend this up for a couple of minutes, let it rest, repeat, let it rest and repeat. So that— do that for as long as you want until you get the consistency that you're looking for. For our purposes, for this live event, that's the perfect consistency. That's what I'm looking for. When we, when we sign off and I say goodbye, I'm gonna whip that for a couple more minutes, put it into this jar, and it's going to go right on my hands.
My hands are always dry. We live in Montana. I am always hanging out with kids. I love kids. I love my niece and my nephew, and I'm constantly washing my hands so I don't get sick, so we can do our live events and we can keep full steam ahead with our communities. So I am constantly washing my hands. They're constantly dry, and I love, love, love this butter to just put on and just soak right in. So I'm going to keep working on that after we're done with our time together today, but we are 1 minute over. We always have a goal of an hour or less, so I don't want to keep you here too long.
As a reminder, the Memorial Day sale, everything site-wide is on sale, either 10% up to 80%. So I'm so excited for you to go and stock up on supplies. I loved seeing the different things you're going to be purchasing on this sale. For example, the Myrrh Hydrosol. I know I'm so excited about that, as well as so many things that we have available. Yes, you do need some kind of blender to whip the butter. That is, that is true. But you can find really inexpensive ones at Target for, you know, that will get the job done.
You don't need a fancy one, you just need one that's gonna, you know, whip the butter. You could do it old school with a, with a whisk, but that might take a while. But that could work, that could work too. All right, so I want to make sure we've covered everything that we need to. Go shop the Memorial Day sale. Join the Natural Living Clubs that you're able to get in there, interact, have conversations. I will put a copy of the slides. There's at least a third of the presentation I didn't get to today because I had too much fun talking about everything in the first two-thirds of the presentation.
So I'll put a copy of the slides in there and we'll keep the conversation going inside of NLC. Again, thank you so much for your patience on the chemistry series. It's gonna be worth the wait. We're so excited to be building that out. It is quite robust and we're going to have a great time examining one chemical component per week for 6 weeks and how to blend, looking at chemistries. That's coming in June. More details on the start date for that as soon as we have everything done. We don't want to just start before we have everything done, so thank you for bearing with us on that.
Have I— do we need to do anything else? Your free giftsey do reset. Oh, okay, the free gifts reset on Monday. So if you are wanting to get the bergamot, the rosehip seed oil, or the peppermint hydrosol, which is so cooling— those of you who are going through perimenopause or menopause, If you take this peppermint hydrosol and put it in the fridge and spritz it on, you're welcome. Do that. You're gonna love it. So again, free gift options over $75.
You get to choose one at checkout. And we are, we're just so excited and honored to have all of you in our community and to be here looking at different all-natural ways to support our skin and our lifestyles without toxic chemicals. All just the good stuff. All right everyone, thank you so much. I'll see you inside the Natural Living Club. Love and bye for now.
