And the Lord of the Rings community. Yes, exactly. We are here to discuss LOTR karaoke. We're going to take Lord of the Rings characters and we're going to, well I feel like I did, is pick a song or two that I feel like perfectly kind of encapsulates this person's character or personality or just what you would see them singing at a really fun karaoke night. So I've prepared some thoughts. Lydia has a couple thoughts to sprinkle in. Yeah, we're gonna have a great discussion. Yeah. Who are you starting with first?
Oh man, I think I started with kind of the fellowship characters.
Wait, before we start, what type of karaoke bar are we talking about here? Is this a dive bar?
Yeah, that's what I'm picturing is like, Kimli's like, we got to go out tonight. And then the only thing they can find open at like 1am is this dive bar that's playing karaoke in the corner. And like, the last is like, we have to perform.
Okay, I just want to make sure we're having the same CD vibes in mind.
Exactly, exactly. That's the vibes that it's giving me right now. Very good. Okay. I think, oh man, okay, I'm gonna start off with my favorite ones. I'm gonna start off with Sam.
Okay. And with Sam, I was really feeling like some loyalty, some like, I'll always be with you, right? And so I had this lot of like, ain't no mountain high enough, ain't no valley low enough to keep me from getting to you, babe. Yeah.
So I had that one. While he's singing that, Frodo is having Mount Doom flashbacks hard. Exactly. He's experiencing a panic attack at the table. Exactly.
The other one that I thought of for him was like, stand by me when the nights are cold or long. Darling, darling, stand by me. Okay, yeah. So those are the two songs that I have for Sam.
That's super cute. I don't have any like specific songs, which I can never do songs. I don't listen to enough like radio, but vibes, vibes. So I feel like Sam would be the guy who didn't get a babysitter and is taking a kid with him. So they're the CD dive bar and he's got his kid and they're just singing like some kind of, I don't know, Barney type garbage Sesame Street song, you know, together at the mic.
I think that'd be really cute. Baby shark. Yes. Yes. Exactly. I could totally see that. Be like, so sorry guys, Rosie was gone. I gotta bring the kids. Yes, exactly.
And he might have all of them. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I could do that. Okay, I love it.
All right, Aragorn. I had a couple of thoughts for Aragorn. One of them was my first thought, which I actually needed to tweak because when I first thought, I thought, I just can't wait to be king. But then I think we need to change it to like, I just really don't want to be king.
You have to depends on what phase or add in here.
If he is married, and this was my thought for him, if he is, you know, it's all over and he's married. He is 100% a sappy gross romance ballad directed directly at our win. Oh, I could see it. This is he gets down on his knees. He leans in. Oh, yeah. That's what I'm seeing.
I could see it.
And then he probably is like, he's not like real rock star vibes. Basically wearing leather jeans, you know, long hair.
You really look the best. The crowd goes wild. Yeah, exactly. Okay, I think this is a song that I would sing about him. Maybe this is what Arwen sings to Aragorn. Okay, I need a hero. I need a hero in the morning light. And he's got to be strong and he's got to be, you know, that song, I love that song to be larger than life. Right. Like, that's the song that I think Arwen sings about Aragorn. I love that one.
Okay. I've got for dimly. Do you have a dimly?
Oh, yeah. But mine's stupid. So you can do yours.
Well, I think it's two things. One, first, he mostly drinks. He's there for drinking, not for singing. He picked the dive bar for
that's why he wanted to go out. Yeah, he wanted to drink. But once sufficiently drunk, I'm certain he gets up there and drones in some kind of dwarf dirge. And just like almost a single note, bagpipe, horrible. He's got legless up on stage with him.
Doing like kind of like a an obligato and like a high soprano. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. You know what I see him doing? I feel like he's one of those people, you know, those people who get up and they're like, this is the song of my homeland. And then they like, they sing like the national anthem or something super patriotic. I can see him getting up and being like, this is the song of my dwarf land. And then just America, you know, I don't know, just like really patriotic. Yeah, I could see that. I could see that.
Or some kind of song about dwarf women, something from and body. Yes, I can definitely not kid appropriate.
And Sam doesn't have enough fans to cover their ears. The baby ears. I can see that. Yes. Yes. So those are my thoughts for dimly. Mostly drink. I love we've kind of already seen them do this. There's like that extended scene, right?
Where they're getting drunk after. Shoot. What is that?
Is it guard or no, that's already a vivid. It's oh, it's after. Oh, Rohan. After Helm's Deep.
Helm's Deep. Yeah, we see like legless is not faced at all by drink. Yeah, it's getting completely the competition. I know hilarious. So we've already seen this vibe. We know it's real. We know it's. Yeah, my silly one that I actually had, which is I think a rare is a rare version of Gimli. But this is about him and his obsession with Galadriel.
Right? Oh, I think I could totally see him singing uptown girl. She's been living in her uptown world. She's tired of her high class boys. Now she's looking for a downtown door. She's got a choice. My uptown Elvish girl.
That's actually really cute. I like that a lot. I can kind of see ledless having this dream team competition with dimly. And obviously he's not affected by the dream. You know, he's barely team Bling. But as a teri, teriote proceeds, I can see him trying harder and harder to get drunk to drown out the the the squalor and and the screeching poor poor ledless. Like when they when they go to a La Valorien, he's like, I can't describe to you the beauty of this song, this lay for dandalf. Yeah, like he's been exposed to a different kind of music.
I know that's true.
So I don't know that he would see unless dimly made him, but I can definitely see him trying very hard to drink much harder than he ever has in his life.
I feel like then my version, my song that I had for like loss might not be quite fitting, but I'm picturing like a very cocky in front of like human mortal women performing type of leg loss.
Okay, I hear him win dimly says, I bet you can't get 10 numbers.
Exactly. Exactly. That's the behind that I'm getting, right? Like they're kind of in this competition. And so Legolas gets up on the stage and he sings just until we're like, I'm bringing in sexy back. Those other girls don't know how to act.
That's excellent.
That's the vibes I'm getting for like a loss on the stage. Okay, I like confident ledless.
I you will for sure trowel dimly in this competition. There's no question. I think so. I guess we never specified where this terry Oakley bars, but I'm, I interpret this as to be in the lands of men, but maybe it's down in like Casa Doom.
Gosh, the door, which women, that'd be hilarious.
So I have Mary and Pippin and for them, like I said, I don't have like specific songs in mind, but I'm just thinking that it would be a duet, obviously, but it'd be like Eurovision style, like overly produced costumes, choreography. They go all out. They'd probably be like, what's the word I'm looking for? Like stage effects, but it would just be them setting like a barrel of tobacco on fire of a pipe weed on fire. And that would be like their, their lightning effects or their, their props.
You have smoke. Really the whole room. I totally see it. I think they'd be fun. It's giving me like Abba vibes, dancing queen. I feel like I could see them doing disco. Yes. I am a big Taylor Swift fans.
I do have some Taylor Swift songs on here. I totally see them being like, I say y'all too late, got nothing in my brain. That's what people say. And like dancing to shake it off.
Yes. Did you have something for Frodo?
Oh my gosh, I did, but he was really hard because I feel like he's kind of morose.
He is. He's horribly morose. And I couldn't think of a single thing he would see. And at all I could think of was he'd be the guy who gets up there, gets to the mic, kind of like cleans to it and then just stares. And after like 40 really awkward sections, just leaves the stage.
Oh no, I could totally see that too. Man. Okay. I did have one. I did have one for him, which is remember in the scene where he's like, do you remember the Shire Sam and the taste of strawberry?
Yes. So we'd have a food song, like a Dormay song. I should have. What I have is John Denver's home sick vibes. Take me home country roads to the place. Where I belong. West Virginia. Yes, that's perfect. Not reason fire. Take me home.
Country road. Yeah. Yeah, that's beautiful. I love that. That's actually my sister's one of my sisters like favorite songs. She's had to move around a lot. And so she'll like seen that to herself all the time weeping. She's just like, I'm moving again.
Oh my gosh, it's so heart wrenching. And I think that's kind of why everyone has that feeling of like wanting to go home somewhere safe. And so that's why I feel like maybe that would match. Yeah, I love that. Oh man. Okay. Who do we have? Who do we have left? Oh, I have a mirror. Oh, Gandalf. Okay, you go.
Okay. Boramir. All right. Boramir. He's just really got a cult loose, right? Yeah.
Oh, that's true. He's got a lot of stress at home.
Yeah. So I think he does some kind of emo rage screamo song.
The head. Yeah, baby. Yes. Yes. And it's a horrible din. Like you can't even hear it. He just screaming at the mic. Being a metalhead. Yeah, that's how I feel about him. Oh my gosh.
And then afterwards, he like wipes his brow and lives normal again. I know. Okay. You are totally right.
Completely placid and released. He has some feelings that he's trying to get through. And I totally see that for him. And that's why I not knowing my screamo well enough could not come up with a great song.
Certainly not. I only listen to soft metal. But the other alternative is that after he's done the first round of screamo is that he will then do a very sappy song about brothers with Aragorn or two Aragorn. I could see that too. And Faramir will be in the back like, what am I, chopliver?
I know he's like, Oh, no, he's the last one is father and he's the last one is brother. He's like, this is to you Aragorn. And Faramir is like, what? Exactly. Exactly. Oh, actually, you know what is like killing me that would be so sad. Okay, the song from fast and furious where he's like, clearly uneducated.
This one is so sad because they had a cast member from fast and furious die. And so they actually wrote a song. It's been a long day without you, my friend, but I'll tell you all about it when I see you again. And I actually feel like for Boramir, passing away in the first movie, hope that's not a spoiler.
If you made it this far into our podcast. But yeah, I feel like I could totally see something like that. Yeah, I like that. Very good song. Okay, who else do we have? Gandalf do it.

So my last one that I came up was Saruman And I feel like he would get up and he would just do something so off-wing like a drudgery enchant, but really it's just a

yeah, either either opera or like a drudgery enchant or whatever he's doing but whatever the song is it's literally a spell and It either makes him look really great or it or it spikes the drink. I don't know You totally see it. Oh my gosh Anyways, but he also has a really good voice Yeah, like the actor obviously so
so it would be impressive whatever it was But it would be not the vibe it would not be on vibe and everybody like that was kind of
weird Do you know sorry, this is just a slight tangent for Saruman I believe yeah, so Saruman is also The same actor who plays do to in Star Wars. Oh, yeah Yeah, I found you too. So there's a really funny parody of Star Wars and one of the funny videos that I saw was DJ do to DJ do So I did now that I know that I'm like, oh, yeah, I could totally see him like kicking everyone out of the cherry oak tree barn saying is now Electro EDM
night You're doing it wrong, right and then he like takes over the music.
Yes. Yes Anyways, that that was another vibe that I felt was pretty strong for him, but that's just because I seen this parody and it was hilarious Oh my gosh, amazing.
I love it Okay, what else I have I only have a few more Okay, this one is the one that I have for golem and I was like, of course Golem has to be like some kind of romance song And I don't know if people know this song very well, but this is Mariah Carey's always be my baby And I just think this lyric is perfect We were as one babe for a moment in time and it seemed everlasting that you would always be mine Now you want to be free So I'm letting you fly I know in my heart babe our love will never die and it's all about the read right exactly And I always thought this Mariah Carey song is really catchy But I always thought it was so funny and like kind of possessive Because it always says in the chorus boy, don't you know, you can't escape me Oh, you'll always be my baby.

You belong with me I can't you see you belong with me So I love that song um What other words are there any others that are giving you the lord of the rings vibes or any characters that you think would have A really funny karaoke.

I think of but Would be like the orcs Those people are always hustling and like they're like I give all my ideas and I still don't get the credit it's like To drive you crazy if you let it Do you remember middle manager orc?

I'm getting with all of the orcs that they're just like trying to do their best And they're just like you never get the credit and it's enough to drive you and I'm thinking the orc I hear cannibalistic if you let it Because they're all right.
Well, you're gonna look crazy at my favorite songs, but this is where I have to tragically admit I listen to nothing normal Um, no, this is great.
This is where I get like the more unique I'll just give you the rundown of like the most recent things to go on my random playlist.
Uh Electro medieval Electro medieval I actually we talked about this. I really want to get into listening to that
Oh, this is a slightly different variation of that one that one's barred core. So barred core is like barred core is like pop songs done in um Medieval instruments. Yeah, I I love it.
We did candy shop. I listen to candy shop guys.
It's so good It's so do highly recommend barred core. This is the opposite. This is medieval songs done in modern instruments So they'll take like the tune From some medieval piece and then they'll like pump it and by they I mean literally one dude who has four four videos on his channel Like literally one.
Uh, so that's been great. I'm really sorry But I'm getting like denith lore sitting and his throne Biving out to some electro medieval music. Can't you see it?

off And then I mean this is like recent days. Uh, I also just recently got into herty dirty Which is surprisingly dope, um What else do I listen to nothing normal? Um, I listen to a lot of french pop. I don't like the french language But it's fine and pop the romance language of the world.

No Yes, but what I find I mean I grew up on a lot of like placical, right and so, um I'm just not used to lyrics still somehow Um, and I I can't retain them like they go in one ear and out the other so I actually like a lot of pop So either the lyrics I can't hear them or they just are they're noticeably bad to me Yeah, so I listen to most of my pop in foreign languages because then
you can't understand anything and it's great Honestly, I'm getting glad real vibe. She's like I only listen to poppy music in french Like better than all of you.
I mean no, no, it's bad Um, yeah, that's pretty much how it goes here. I listen to like viking chants when I'm concentrating I mean, I think nothing you would see that teriyoti But like I literally recently had this problem where I was like, oh, there's a teriyoti theme Maybe I'll go to this activity. Yeah, and then I went there and I was like, I know nothing
There is nothing I can see Who's pulling like a sora mon or a gimley and is like straight up chanting into the microphone I mean
it was close There was one song that I thought maybe other people will know this song It was the wellamon from that that see the sea shanty Um, and I thought maybe people will know this one because the problem is like when you're at teriyoti You want to see something that like
people you rather just think of sea shanty.
Yeah, I did the wellamon. I'm not ashamed It was literally the only song I could possibly think of where I'm like people might know
