Short, soul-stirring stories from across the flavors of Chassidus—Breslov, Chabad, Ger, and more. In just a few minutes, Rav Shlomo Katz brings the heart of Chassidus to life, one tale at a time.
Dear friends, you know what may be the missing link? Regards. We haven't given the proper regards to ירושלים that it's waiting for. The story is that רב חיים of צאנז, everyone knows he was he would limp. He had a limp that prevented him from walking fast and, I'm sure, other areas in his life as well.
But רב חיים of צאנז was very מקפיד, despite his limp, to always escort each person that came to greet him, to escort him out of the house. And one day one of his students came to him and said, \"My רבי, I'm going to ארץ ישראל. I'm going to be in ירושלים." רב חיים צאנז was filled with געגועים, filled with longing to join him, but he was so happy for his student. And as he escorted him after giving him a ברכה, he escorted him out of the house.
And the תלמיד started walking away. Everyone in the neighborhood heard רב חיים צאנז scream out to him, \"My dear, sweet student, send my regards to ירושלים. Tell ירושלים that I, חיים בן פייגא of צאנז, I'm limping on one foot. It may take me a long time to get there, but one day I'll get there too.
Send my love to ירושלים." You know, those of us that are privileged to live here, or those of us that are living in the world, anywhere we are, we can get here. We can come to ירושלים. But I think that it's not enough that we're here. We have to send all the regards of thousands of years of Jews' tears and longing to be here as well.
Maybe that's the tipping point. What do I know? But it could.
