What is The Gospel Briefing?

Understand the news. Keep your peace. Follow Christ. The Gospel Briefing is a five-minute weekday Christian news decision brief hosted by Charles King. Each episode brings three consequential stories into the light of Scripture, helping you enter the day informed and steady - without panic, outrage, or partisan noise. Go deeper with Bible Copilot.

Something called the Super Intelligence Force.

This is The Gospel Briefing. I'm Charles King.

President Trump announced Sunday that his director of national intelligence, Jay Clayton, will lead a new federal task force on artificial intelligence. The president is calling it the Super Intelligence Force. He's been rebranding AI as "super intelligence."

The announcement follows a White House gathering last week where top AI executives signed a voluntary accord to, in the president's words, self-police the development of the technology. Self-police.

The task force includes Federal Trade Commission chairman Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon chief technology officer Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management director Scott Kupor. It reports to the president and chief of staff Susie Wiles. Trump says it will reach out to consumers, public interest groups, religious organizations, and critical infrastructure providers.

Here is why it matters. The companies building the most powerful technology in human history are being asked to grade their own homework. Christians can disagree about regulation. But Scripture is not naive about unchecked power.

James four, verse one, asks it bluntly. "What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you?" Technology does not fix the human heart. It amplifies it. Keep James four open in Bible Copilot if you want to follow along today.

In Vienna, Georgia, early Sunday morning, more than a thousand people gathered for a neighborhood block party. By one twenty-five a.m., more than fifty shots had been fired in two locations about a block apart.

Two young men are dead. Jaquevion Jackson, twenty-one, of Cordele. Macaleb Jackson, twenty-three, of Hawkinsville. Thirty-five others were injured, ages fourteen to fifty-one. It was homecoming weekend for Dooly County High School.

The sheriff said people were running every direction while officers were still on scene. No suspects. No motive. No count yet of how many shooters.

Romans twelve, verse fifteen, tells us to weep with those who weep. Before analysis, before policy, there are parents in South Georgia who will not sleep tonight. Pray for wisdom today before you repeat what you have heard. And pray for them by name. Jaquevion. Macaleb. And the thirty-five still in hospital beds.

Next, a quieter story with large implications. The U.S. Air Force has pulled all twelve B-One bombers out of an air base in Britain. The New York Times reports it followed credible threats of an Iran-backed attack on the allied base.

Twelve long-range bombers. Moved quickly. That tells you how seriously the threat was taken. The lines between proxy and principal, between peacetime and wartime, keep blurring.

Proverbs twenty-seven, verse twelve, says the prudent sees danger and hides himself. There is wisdom in prudence. Pray this week for the airmen moving those planes, and for leaders making calls the rest of us never see.

James four, fourteen. "Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. For what is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes."

A block party. A bomber base. A task force on technology we barely understand. None of it is as permanent as it feels this morning. But the One who holds tomorrow is.

Thanks for listening to The Gospel Briefing. The powerful are not as in control as they think. Neither are we. That is good news. I'll see you tomorrow.
