What is Clydesdale Media Podcast?

We cover the sport of CrossFit from all angles. We talk with athletes, coaches and celebrities that compete and surround in the sport of CrossFit at all levels. We also bring you Breaking News, Human Interest Stories and report on the Methodology of CrossFit. We also use the methodology to make ourselves the fittest we can be.

Well,

we are live and on remote from Montana

and Michigan.

Welcome to the show.

It's time to ignite.

Scott's silky smooth voice keeps the vibes

just right.

Caroline on the mic wants a star on

the ice.

Game's athlete so strong,

keeps the balance precise.

And Jamie's in the house.

The engine full of grip.

Never backing down.

Down doesn't know.

We'll be right back.

Well, you all know what time it is.

It's Sunday, Sunday, Sunday night,

CrossFit talk.

It sucks when I don't,

when I don't have the board to do

that for me.

So Sunday, Sunday, Sunday sharp.

I know, I know it's been,

it's been a bummer day for me.

I will just say that, um,

Damn,

like I've been in a funk ever since,

what, about your time, three-fifty?

Your time, maybe?

I was mid-workout,

so I missed Tyson even getting into the

game.

I was deadlifting during the first half,

so whatever.

I was three-six.

And then I missed,

and then I heard Tyson got in.

I was like, of course.

Well, the bummer was,

it was a shitty game in the rain.

Neither offense was doing anything.

The Bears blew so many opportunities to

score.

They were inside the one and fumbled.

It just was a rough game.

And then when Caleb turned that corner,

it was like, oh my gosh,

we're going to go up by four.

And all of a sudden,

it looked like someone shot him in the

back of the leg.

And he just went down.

And I like every I went from elation

to depression in the matter of a

nanosecond.

And and then Tyson came in and he

marched them down the field.

He got him inside the fifteen with three

shots at the end zone.

And yeah.

I don't know.

I'm excited to see.

I know.

As I look up at the TV above

me, they show Caleb laying on the ground.

I mean...

That makes me excited for Tyson, though.

I mean,

we don't know how bad his hamstring is.

I'm going to be completely blunt.

I love Tyson Bajent.

I love his story.

I love that he's a CrossFitter.

I love all that stuff.

I think he's the best backup quarterback

in the league,

and I'm glad we have him.

But Caleb is special.

The Bears have never had a quarterback

that was special before.

When the best quarterback they've ever had

in my lifetime is Jay Cutler,

you're like reaching for anything decent.

I mean,

even the Lions had Matthew Stafford for

ten years.

Like,

we have never had anything remotely

special.

And to finally have that,

to finally have it and then watch it

just fall away today was...

Last week, fifty nine points,

total elation.

Think that we're good.

We have a shot at the Super Bowl

to this week.

The defense actually played good.

And then the offense just couldn't get

anything going.

And they made so many mistakes,

so many drop balls.

And then Caleb going down with the injury.

And the thing is, like,

people are texting me and like, yay,

Tyson.

Well, yeah, but boo,

my greatest quarterback ever in Bears

history goes down.

and and then like they're also texting me

like i don't it doesn't matter it doesn't

matter the only way i'm gonna root for

the bears is of tyson's plane so i

get it it's your team for me it's

just about seeing tyson play so

I know.

And in the CrossFit space,

which is most of the people that I

follow or follow me on social media are

DMing me.

And I love that they're interested in my

interests.

But like today,

I just I don't care about Tyson.

I will care about Tyson on Tuesday when

they start to prep for next week.

But today I just don't.

And everybody's like, well,

he's only out two to four weeks.

Nobody knows that.

Nobody follows the bears as much as I

follow the bears.

And they do not know where this is

going.

Yeah, it's a hamstring.

It's not an Achilles.

It's not a knee, which was first thought.

But if it is, if it is,

it's a hamstring,

it can be a severe hamstring tear that

could require surgery.

We don't know any of that till they

get the MRI tomorrow.

So anyway, Tyson is a fun story.

But besides that he is a backup and

that you hope he can get you to

five hundred while Caleb is out.

I think so.

I think the Tyson is like Jared Goff

and I'm probably not giving Jared Goff

enough credit.

Tyson is more mobile than Jared Goff.

Yeah.

And Goff is more accurate thrower than

Tyson.

But Ben Johnson did amazing things with

Jared Goff.

And, like,

there is the potential that Tyson could do

amazing things in this offense because he

is super smart.

And Ben Johnson raves about how much he,

like –

just is a sponge to the offense and

the as much film study as he does

and all of that stuff and that's that's

great today i just i'm pissed that caleb's

out because caleb can do things no other

quarterbacks can do maybe josh allen and

that's and you've got to be sitting there

going i'm a lions fan and it just

makes it easier for us when we play

yeah

So I get it.

There are two sides to every coin.

Right.

But literally in my lifetime,

and I saw someone say Jim McMahon was

special.

I think Jim McMahon was special.

He got hurt so much in the short

time he was in the NFL.

I don't know.

He was on a special team.

The eighty five Bears were one of the

greatest you ever saw.

But I don't know if it was offense

that won them that Super Bowl.

So I don't know.

I love Jim McMahon.

Don't get me wrong.

I'm just I'm in a bummer mood today.

It was not a great weekend of sports

for me as well.

Yeah, at least Penn State won yesterday.

And then my wife and daughter were here

in Montana.

My daughter is a Patriots fan.

My wife is a Steelers fan.

So my daughter was just rubbing it in

that the Patriots just put the paddle to

the, I don't know.

The podcast I always watch,

they call it paddle to ass when like

you're, and that's what it was.

Yes.

So, yeah.

And then I'm probably going to lose my

bet to Meg,

so I'm probably going to end up wearing

a Packers jersey on the air in a

week or two.

My fantasy team is trash.

I've got a zero shot.

Well, I lost Caleb.

I lost DJ Moore, Saquon Barkley.

All three of them went out with injury

today or on Thursday night,

giving me not many points.

You kind of need hamstrings in football.

Kind of.

Kind of.

So anyway,

you have been rearranging your gym and it

looks like... No,

I haven't been rearranging my gym.

I haven't done anything.

I'm just trying to reset the damn robot

vacuum.

It's ridiculous.

it like will not map the front part

of our gym.

Like if there's just this,

this by square foot area that it just,

it just will not find it's wide open

space and it just will not map it.

And I am getting so frustrated.

Yeah.

We had a robot vacuum for a little

while and Walter just wouldn't let it be.

And so we had to,

we had to bag that.

it could be so helpful if i could

get it to run consistently i just i

always have to run it and be there

and like move it and i want to

set the zones and like run it overnight

and i just i've been trying to like

i reset it to remap the floor to

try to get that and put in like

you know virtual walls and where not to

go and stuff and i just it won't

it doesn't even have the

floor like i can't even put in virtual

walls not even doesn't even have the whole

floor it's crazy uh tessa you're the one

that always hears noise i don't know what

you're hearing because i don't hear it at

all and i'm not eating anything it might

be you're like off your shirt with it

it might be the mic bouncing yeah yeah

i can hold it for now

So yeah, we're on the road.

I don't have an extra screen.

I don't have,

so like pulling up stuff is going to

be really hard tonight.

So yeah,

fake Siobhan doesn't hear anything either.

Maybe Tessa just has like bionic woman

ears.

Now Carolyn's fan on her computer,

I definitely hear.

That was, yes, we heard that.

um so yeah see it's been it's been

a fun weekend so far we got here

on wednesday to great falls montana um and

we had an earthquake uh we had a

guy fart at a table in front of

us at a restaurant oh my gosh like

loud oh like full bore i talked about

it on thursday thursday no i don't know

yeah thursday show um

yeah it was it was i heard it

once and i was like i thought it

was someone moving their chair right and

then i saw the guy lift a cheek

and then i heard it again and he

just kept talking like nothing had ever

happened in the table in front of us

and then my daughter and wife lost their

in the middle of dinner they could not

stop laughing and he had no clue they

were laughing

Well, his back was to us.

So we were out on like a patio

and it was picnic table seating.

So like he was at the picnic table

in front of us.

Um, but yeah, it was wild, wild.

That's crazy.

And then Friday night we went down to

that's a place called Craig, Montana,

populationally, like, and, uh,

it's a lake.

And then Corey's company owns a

restaurant.

They bought this restaurant out there and,

uh,

And it's like an old saloon,

but they've made it into this restaurant

where you come in and you sit down.

And for that night,

they have a menu and you don't really

order.

You just sit down and this is what

is served to you.

And it was really cool and really,

really nice.

But all of the food that got served

is stuff Julie would never eat.

Oh, boy.

And we kind of forced her to eat

and she actually enjoyed it.

that's one way to try new things so

we had lamb chop lollipops to start and

they were grilled with a chimichurri sauce

i swear to god i if they had

a ladle for that chimichurri sauce i would

have like just gobbled it up and um

and then it then they had tuna yellowfin

tuna tacos

With a Spanish rice and this corn on

the cob that had like a crema on

it with seasonings.

It was so, so nice and so good.

That's awesome.

The nicest part is that Corey's employee

discount applies at the restaurant.

Wow.

Yeah.

That's great.

So yeah, Katie, I'm with you.

You give me a good and chimichurri seems

to be it's so fresh with like the

greenery in it.

And it's so good.

So good.

And then we've just kind of chilled out

and just spent time together the last

couple of days.

Corey cooked us some meals and it's been

really nice.

And she's getting to be a really good

cook and she's all into like growing her

own vegetables and making sourdough and

all that stuff.

So like, yeah.

So we had a lot of like fresh

food that she has grown and yeah,

it was all, it's been awesome.

How's the weather there?

Uh, it's really, I, it's up and down.

Like right now it's probably.

And so yesterday was.

And rainy.

Gotcha.

So kind of Michigan.

And then at night it gets like down

in the forties.

Okay.

Yeah.

So like colder than Ohio.

But it's like every day is different,

which is like Ohio right now, too.

Once you get into fall,

like it's very unpredictable.

Yeah, it's only been like six weeks here.

This week, like sixty two.

Most of the week.

Yeah, I mean,

I'm ready for some cooler temperatures.

When we left Ohio, it was like ninety.

It is too late in the year to

be ninety.

Wow.

We did not have that.

Definitely did not get that warm here.

And it's been raining for like three days

straight.

Uh-oh.

Did I lose you again?

You got a little robotic.

It's okay.

Okay.

You're good.

Hotel Wi-Fi, you just never know.

Anything else we want to talk about?

I haven't watched any shows except for

Lanterns.

Caught up on Lanterns.

I finished Reacher and that's it.

I have not.

I have not.

We've been too busy just doing other stuff

to watch TV.

KDL.

It's still in the nineties in the

Carolinas.

We are overcooked over here.

I'm jealous.

Cows and CrossFit has tornado warnings.

Wow.

Yeah.

I had an earthquake this week.

I experienced my first little rumble.

Was it scary?

Honestly,

I didn't even really know what it was.

Okay.

Because it was only a four point oh.

Okay.

So the building shook,

but I didn't know why until Corey said,

oh, yeah,

we had an earthquake this morning.

I was like, okay.

Now I know what it was.

So let's get into it.

There's supposed to be a major

announcement on tomorrow's Week in Review

with Dave Castro.

Okay.

According to Boz on his episode with the

Glinton Things.

And I'm bringing this up is...

Yeah, Meredith.

Four point O is cute,

coming from a native Southern Californian.

Yeah.

I've heard it's not even really an

earthquake unless it hits five.

Fair.

So anyway, major announcement tomorrow,

Dave Castro's Week in Review.

And I bring this up because I sent

you a thing where I saw that Legends

had posted the dates for a semifinal

already.

And I found that pretty peculiar because

just some people I'm talking to,

some people know what's going on and some

people don't.

And it just seems very, very,

I don't know what to say.

I hate the way CrossFit's doing stuff

right now.

Right.

Why do some people know some things and

some don't?

Yeah.

Like,

why do these people get to know and

these people have to wait?

It doesn't make any sense to me.

I agree.

Jody, glad to have you.

It's also upsetting to me that Legends has

another full semifinal.

That's the thing.

You would think out of anyone that would

be last to know or maybe wait to

see who all is willing to participate in

the season as hosts,

you would think Legends would be towards

the bottom.

It just didn't go well last year.

Others went better.

There's places to put your money first.

or put your crossfit in your crossfit my

question to you is is it because um

it's in del mar and crossfit wants to

hold on to that location to be a

part of the season very possible and i'm

and i'm not i'm honestly not trying to

just dog on bob and joe i'm really

not

I just don't think,

I think if you want to run your

own competition, they're fine.

Oh yeah.

But to be a part of the CrossFit

game season,

I don't think they take input well.

I agree.

And I, and I've heard this in,

in from several different people at

different times, different years, even.

that when input is given,

it's not always taken.

I think that only matters to like people

who like the masters who actually care

that things are run well.

And it's not, I wouldn't say fair,

but like a reasonably represented event.

And so like, but in CrossFit's mind,

They're perfect for semifinals.

Like,

they got Dalen and James to the games,

and it was a cool location.

Like, they don't care.

Did Dave watch the programming and, like,

judge it?

No.

Did the two of the top fittest people

make it?

Yeah.

In their mind, it went fine.

Nobody's, like, the problem is there's no,

like,

What do they call it?

The Wolf's Den, the Tate.

There's no go into the conference room and

sit down and hash it out, right?

Like debrief.

Yeah, there's no debrief for these,

and there's no figuring out what can we

change for next year.

And then CrossFit's mind,

it went just fine.

Somebody was willing to throw some money

at an event,

and it got two people there, so.

Is that right?

Yeah.

It's fine, I guess.

Not optimal, but fine, sort of.

That's a different take than you said

here, Grant.

I think they are a dumpster fire.

We think they're a dumpster fire,

but it's fine.

In CrossFit's mind, it's fine.

They probably don't even want to

collaborate.

They probably don't want to debrief.

They don't want to go back and figure

out what they can fix because that's just

more work on CrossFit's part.

Yeah, I don't, unfortunately, I just,

I think,

I think CrossFit has like wiped their

hands up this middle part.

I think in twenty, twenty four,

when they stopped running the semifinals,

the more hands off the better for them.

Yeah.

In CrossFit mind.

Yeah.

Whether that's good,

whether that is truly good or not better

or not, that's up for debate,

but it crosses fine.

The more hands off the better.

Yes, I totally agree.

That's how they feel.

They don't want me in power.

They don't want,

they don't want to spend time, hours,

energy.

Definitely don't want to spend money in

that area.

Right.

Money or resources.

Correct.

Right.

So whatever gets them off the hook from,

for those things, the most, um,

is what the is the path they are

going to choose unfortunately and and so

because of this is our thoughts and and

it has been our thoughts for a while

seeing them get the dates first just

seemed like and i don't know if others

have got the dates already or not but

they're the only ones that

And again,

it's just like CrossFit has made no

announcement,

but Legends is just going to go about

it on their own,

and they're going to post it anyway.

Screw an announcement.

We're just going to put it on our

Instagram.

Yeah, it's a little strange.

I mean, it's in what, April?

It's an early one,

so do they need to have dates fairly

soon?

Yes.

But it should be...

But if you know about it and CrossFit

hasn't made the announcement and all of

your venues in place and all the stuff

is in place,

why do you need to announce it before

CrossFit?

Good question.

It's just a perfect example of the way

the semifinal season is run.

Yes.

Completely agree.

I did hear, though,

that the Masters online semifinals is

going to happen at the end of the

semifinal season, like the Elites.

So they think they're going to still try

to go this in-person route?

I think so.

I like it.

I like it for a couple of reasons.

One,

all the people that aren't at your and

Carolyn's level that got an opportunity to

go and participate in what they deem to

be a big event was huge for them.

And you need something to retain people

other than elite athletes to the CrossFit

game season,

or you're going to have no money.

I'm sick of them relying on the Masters

community to support the sport, though.

And I wish the Masters would...

If Legends is going to host their event

off-season, I think that... Again,

I've said this.

It's a great off-season comp.

It's a great feeder comp.

And the Masters should participate in

things like that.

That's where they should get the

experience.

I don't think throwing them into the

semifinals just to bump up numbers,

just to bring in down to five hundred

place just to get money is is the

right call.

But.

And hear me out.

So someone like Shelly Young,

who went to semifinals last year,

would not have had that opportunity in the

past.

Probably wouldn't even have the

opportunity to go to Legends because of

the qualifier for them.

But who knows?

They don't pay anything out anymore.

So the less and less people are doing

it.

I don't know.

But she got to do it.

It was fairly close to her home.

She got to have an experience that was

huge for her.

And it's okay to make some money.

We're just bumping up the elite season.

That's all we do.

Nothing is provided for us.

Well,

I'm not looking at it as a whole.

I'm just looking at it as you asked

about,

are they doing the in-person semis for

Masters?

I think that's a good idea.

Do I think that the way they did

it in the season and the way it

played out was right?

Absolutely not.

But in isolation,

I think that an in-person semi for Masters

can be a good thing.

But not at the expense of dumbing down

the games to be a local gym comp.

Like,

it sucks that Magic City was a better

competition for Masters athletes than the

actual games were.

And that can't happen, in my opinion.

It probably will again,

but that can't happen.

Yeah,

I'm curious to hear what Dave has to

say.

I have very low expectations that it's

going to be anything groundbreaking or...

new or exciting.

I think it's going to be a very

basic announcement with some dates.

I don't know.

I have zero expectations for the season

this year.

I guess we'll see what they do if

they separate the Masters completely.

Are they going back to their own weekend

and own venue?

I'd rather have that than what we saw

last year.

Correct.

You don't bring them together to keep them

separate.

Either keep them separate or bring them

together.

Because being there as a spectator,

it was definitely two separate events.

And all it did was point out to

the age group athletes that they were

different.

And that they were off over in this

corner and doing their thing.

And nobody from CrossFit gave two shits

about them.

Yep.

Yeah,

you were allowed to come in for the

opening ceremonies.

They didn't even say who won the events.

Right.

They didn't play a single highlight of

what happened from the Masters

competition.

Not one time.

Yeah.

I'll be watching YouTube during the day

and lately like.

Twenty seventeen twenty eighteen twenty

nineteen.

Games events have been coming on and.

surprisingly and i like i don't pick this

stuff just randomly whatever comes in um

i've been seeing a ton of teens and

like i've just watched hayley adams do run

rope climb something else um workout that

she won i've just been seeing a ton

of the teens i saw the one in

the

in the age group stadium there, you know,

at Madison,

that was that back barn basically.

Um, it's just, you're,

you're watching it and you're like, man,

those were the days.

Like there's more people in the stands

watching those events.

Then there,

then there were like some of the like

individual games,

like definitely more than are at semi,

like semifinals and, um,

WFP and lots of events.

Some of the early individual games events

had about the same amount,

even from this year,

had about the same amount of people in

the stands at these events.

That's why those were the heydays.

Everyone was there.

They just were there,

so they watched other stuff.

You caught people's eyes to these teens

and these masters.

That was the beauty of the festival

ticket.

Yes.

Without the festival ticket,

you don't get that experience anymore.

It was a ninety to ninety nine dollar

ticket for the weekend.

You didn't get into the arena,

but everything outdoors was open to you.

That meant vendor village.

That meant the beer garden.

That meant all the food vendors and the

age group athletes and the outdoor events

for the elite athletes.

All of that.

And there were activations.

There were things that you could do.

Hell, by the end of Madison,

Mayhem ran a full weekend long activation

in the campground.

Proven was running one in a barn.

They were everywhere.

I want to address two things that came

up.

CrossFit-ish.

Why aren't teens with masters anymore?

Well, this is something I want to explain,

and it's more on the back end.

When you have underage individuals,

the insurances are different.

The requirements for holding the

competition are different.

And so as that was explained to me,

it makes more sense to me to hand

all that stuff to Pitt,

who know how to deal with that,

Now in Madison, they found a way, right?

And it's probably because they could have

a separate locker room for them.

They could have separate areas for the

teens to warm up where they weren't with

the elite athletes.

But that was explained to me very recently

that the legality and the insurance issues

with teen athletes is very high.

They did it just fine in Columbus.

It wasn't just fine, though.

Like,

they had to shut down the warm-up area

that coaches weren't even allowed in there

because of the teens.

Well,

coaches weren't allowed in the warm-up

area for the Masters this year.

See,

I wasn't in the warm-up area at all

this year.

Yeah,

there was no coaches allowed on the floor.

In Birmingham,

there was a fence that the coaches could

stand around.

They couldn't be where the weights and

stuff were,

but at least it was where you could

yell over.

That was very, very,

very limited in Columbus.

I mean, that's how it was in Columbus.

The thing is, there was two floors,

two warm-up floors.

So same idea.

I, they just like, and, and I mean,

maybe that's the option there is create a

second floor, but yeah, they usually,

they never really let the coaches in on

the floor.

You have to stand around behind a

barricade, but keeping them separate.

I don't know.

It worked.

I think there's a little bit of a

collaboration issue.

I think there's a collaboration issue on

top of that as well.

um because we we started this conversation

about joe and bob not taking input right

and if you're partnering with someone and

you're not allowed to give input do you

want to keep yeah i mean it's not

just their event if you put them together

then you need to collab with somebody

And that not taking input,

I did not get from the pit.

So please don't read that in to there.

But I've heard it several different times

from several different people.

And to Ken,

about you saying the Vikings dominated the

Bears today,

nine to three is not what I would

call a dominating victory.

I will give you the win.

They won.

They played better at times,

but not dominating.

But a win is a win.

I mean, that's a great point, too.

Cross finish.

They were with adaptive this year.

They're all adults.

So what's the difference?

It can be done.

Been done.

Been done plenty of times.

Got to have the right the right people

putting it together.

Ed missed you this morning.

I don't know what that means, but...

A live call, programming call.

I was on.

I just wasn't chatting.

You not chatting?

It was too early.

It was before noon?

Yes.

It was before ten.

That's the problem.

CrossFit also announced a partnership

with...

recently with ATHX, A-T-H-X.

Yeah.

So it seems like what's funny is when

I made up the thumbnail for this and

I made up the notes for this,

I was thinking like they've partnered with

Xenon and they've partnered with ATHX now

as a way to, in my opinion,

compete with High Rocks.

right?

Give a CrossFit option of the one day

event.

Ethics is even more, um, one day-ish.

It's only three events where Xenom is ten

and it's a full weekend.

Um, this is just one endurance workout,

one weightlifting workout,

one CrossFit workout.

And, uh,

And so I find it interesting that these

partnerships are now starting to pop up.

But then after I put this in the

notes, I saw a clip from,

I think his name's Walsh.

He wrote the Glass book that's coming out

in the next week or so.

Okay.

It's the book about Greg Glassman.

Okay.

And he was on Be Friendly Fitness.

And the clip said that CrossFit is so

toxic right now.

And I'm paraphrasing.

Paraphrasing.

Because I'm doing this from memory because

I can't pull up clips right now.

That CrossFit is so toxic that Xenom

doesn't even mention the partnership

anymore.

And I was like.

Was this the clip on Jenny's?

Yeah, she clipped it too.

It's Kayla Marsh, isn't it?

Kayla Marsh.

That's it.

Yep.

Okay.

Yeah.

It's really hard to do the show with

one screen.

I'm just telling you.

I did see that.

I heard that.

Yeah.

They're better off not basically

associating.

It almost hurts the image.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Katie L says, anymore,

we've had exactly two Xenoms.

It's with the next dude.

Come on.

You know better than that.

And two,

Miami's coming up in the coming weeks.

So that'll be three.

And I have it from a very good

source that next year is going to be

a lot bigger than this year.

Several weeks.

It's like mid-December, right?

Like two months away.

know like i'm on vacation it's like three

months away i think okay we have never

ever claimed to be professional ever we're

just people chatting every sunday night

because we love this stuff um

So yeah,

like I wanted to get your take on

that.

One, the developing another partnership.

I think that's good.

Yeah.

Developing.

I, I like that.

They, well,

that they need to be branching out and

they need to be collabing with people and

bringing.

It sucks.

I feel like these are still very CrossFit

centric events.

I don't know that you're going to bring

in anyone new with any of this stuff.

Like,

Especially Xenom,

I think it's just geared for the

competitive gym goer that maybe can't make

the semifinals.

And that's a fairly small population.

It's an expensive event.

You have to really want to compete and

not quite be able to make it somewhere

else.

Yeah,

and I don't know enough about the ethics

to know.

I know Emily Rolfe did one.

I talked to her at length about how

it was.

And I got the impression she wasn't –

she was kind of underwhelmed.

But you're talking about an athlete who's

been to the games and been to WFP

and been to Wadapalooza,

like –

So I don't know from like a Jimmy's

and Joe's kind of thing.

Is it, is it a fun,

fun event or not?

I would totally do an ethics.

If there was one close,

easy to get to,

I'm certainly not flying or driving.

To try to go do an ethics.

If there's one close,

I would totally do it.

Um,

They were smart to do one the week

after Waterpalooza when people hadn't left

yet.

Yeah.

So their timing was really good on that.

I just, I don't know.

It'd be cool to see if they are

doing one after SoCal,

like all the people there and like throw

one up that weekend or the Monday after

or something.

Yeah.

I just don't know how you get somebody

to try it and love it and want

to go do this same event.

Did you see Hayley Adams' post about her

High Rocks race?

No.

Oh, she's all in.

She said it was awesome.

She actually wants to train for one and

she will be good at it.

Yeah, that's all the stuff she's good at.

that's huge for high rocks.

We like, we need the opposite to happen.

Well, they need some good news.

Oh, go check her post.

She's like super,

she's super hype about it.

What I, what I was saying,

I probably cut out is that, um,

they need some good news.

Yeah.

Because the rumor is the Dallas High

Rocks, people are selling their tickets.

Really?

They're like boycotting over the shit

show?

Yep.

Wow.

I'm shocked.

Yeah.

Again, that's rumor.

I don't know anybody at High Rocks or

a ticket exchange to know.

I just heard that rumor through the

circles.

Maybe it might not be huge for high

racks,

but they just keep getting people hype.

Who do we get to come do something

and then sit there and hype it up

and post on their social media that they

did this.

They've caught the bug.

They love it.

Like other than Tyson,

a couple of years ago,

talking about CrossFit,

we get no social media around.

Like we get Tom Holland saying he did

the, now it's the Spider-Man workout.

We don't even get media around people

doing CrossFit and saying,

this is freaking awesome.

I'm all in.

That's my pet peeve.

Like there have been ample opportunities

to capitalize.

I said this earlier this week,

like the winners of the Titan games were

two CrossFitters and not a mention was

named.

And I said,

and everybody's coming at me like,

what's that?

Cause they can't say CrossFit.

Then say, Hey,

There was this competition on NBC where

they weren't allowed to say our name,

but our people won it.

You can twist that into some form of

marketing.

Don't just give up.

Overcome the hurdle.

Stop telling people they can't use the

name.

When you send two CrossFit athletes to

a...

syndicated TV show,

like tell them to say CrossFit.

Don't tell them they're going to get in

trouble for using the word CrossFit.

Tell the world that you do CrossFit.

Danny was on American Gladiators.

She was the best gladiator by far.

She did have CrossFit in her bio.

And have you seen anything from CrossFit

about Danny Spiegel being on American

Gladiator?

No.

No.

Physical, one hundred.

All the winners are CrossFitters.

Right.

I did see they maybe have gotten, like,

it'll be written that they are a

CrossFitter.

I have seen maybe CrossFit relaxed on that

a little bit.

But don't just relax.

Get off your ass and use it.

Yep.

Yeah, this is...

I know he's kind of saying it as

a joke, but this is so damn true.

They are more worried about keeping the

base than going out and bringing people

from the outside in.

Everything is go back to the roots,

go back to the roots,

go back to the roots.

Okay, Best Buy, or not Best Buy, but

Blockbuster,

wither up and die then because Netflix

kicked your ass because you didn't develop

and change.

It's just, it's so frustrating to me.

And everybody's like, well,

when Dave's answer was,

we reached out to Tom Holland's people and

we couldn't get through.

It's on social media.

You didn't even share him saying it.

Because he said, I do CrossFit.

I do this workout called Cindy.

And CrossFit didn't even grab that and

share it.

Right.

Right.

Like we needed to grab it.

We needed to blast it.

and make it go viral that it's CrossFit

rather than it just getting shared and

then it's viral that it's the Spider-Man

workout.

It's gone the wrong way.

He put it out there.

It was public information.

You can use that to show that people

are doing this.

You want to get in a spandex Spider-Man

outfit?

What gets you there?

CrossFit.

But I'm going to be real.

Even I tried to get a hold of

Tom Holland at least thirty seven times.

And that's why you have a restraining

order.

Dave needs to tell his operatives to feed

him info on the world outside of CrossFit.

They've got the critics locked down pretty

well.

I think the most frustrating thing was

Patrick Wilson for me,

who is on the show Cape Fear,

who did CrossFit on an episode of Cape

Fear.

And his technique was impeccable.

Oh.

And CrossFit did nothing about it.

And he went and did a High Rocks.

And before the weekend was over,

High Rocks had shared a whole reel of

him doing all the different elements of

High Rocks.

And Patrick Wilson collaborated with them.

Patrick Wilson and his eight hundred

thousand followers collaborated.

Now,

now I want to go do High Rocks.

That's the thing.

Hayley Adams has a lot of followers.

That's the thing.

That's what I'm telling you.

It's all out there and they just let

it all go by him.

Let's, let's send out people to,

to remake a behind the scenes that Hiller

already did.

Let's go send people out to do a

behind the scenes of a video that the

boys interrupted already did.

Well,

Tyson Bajan is now the starting

quarterback of the Chicago Bears.

He's not a backup anymore.

How fast do you think CrossFit will get

anything out about that?

That should be shared all the next two

weeks.

At least all week.

You know he's going to be playing on

Saturday, Sunday.

When are they playing?

Sunday?

Monday night.

Monday night football.

What about that opportunity?

Yeah,

they need to be sharing that all week.

That clip needs to be shared all week.

Can we?

Yeah, I saw you had what?

I don't know,

seven hundred cards or something

ridiculous.

Oh, he has more than seven hundred.

Oh,

he has seven hundred Tyson Beijing cards.

Yes.

Hiller will probably be at that game

somehow in the back.

It is in Soldier Field,

so it's in Chicago.

Well, Scott,

if you don't like how they run the

media,

I hear there is a job position open.

They haven't posted it.

Really?

They have not posted the CMO position.

They posted the CFO position.

But not the CMO.

They must have somebody in mind.

It's not happening, I don't believe.

Yeah,

because we don't need anything running

media, anybody running media.

No CMO, got it.

Well, that's brilliant.

That's what I feel like.

It might already be filled.

I don't think it's already filled.

I think they're going to contract people.

Yes.

But who,

who in the hell is going to pick

who to contract and who the hell is

going to make sure that they touch on

all these things that none of them watch

because their heads are so far up their

ass.

Bruce.

I don't know.

Who knows?

What's the difference, Grant?

What is the difference between head of

media and CMO?

It's semantics.

A C?

One says marketing and one says media.

No C-suite.

I'm just...

I would think it'd be the pay.

It's your company.

You're a private company.

It doesn't matter what the title says.

You can pay it whatever you want to

pay it.

Correct.

You set the price.

It's your damn company.

Well,

I think they've set the price too high

for most of their management roles.

Again, it's their company.

They can do a twenty five percent pay

cut across the board if they felt that

was necessary.

But apparently they don't know what the

hell they're doing.

It's this like.

Anybody with a basic,

basic business degree would know that's

just that's just dumb.

Yeah.

Let's not invest in media or marketing.

That's, that's a way to succeed.

It's been really working well for them.

Yeah.

I don't talk to Vicki about anything on

her job.

But in her position,

the position titles do mean more money or

less money.

And that's the crux of the problem.

Oh, they're getting ads on the shows.

I can't stand when that happens when I'm

watching live.

That has been happening so much lately.

YouTube has changed everything.

It shouldn't happen live.

I don't get to control any of that.

I don't understand it.

It's been happening to me a lot lately.

I pay for the premium because I can't

stand the ads.

I'm about to.

They're pushing me to that point.

I'm stubborn.

I literally watch YouTube more than any

other streaming service.

Me too.

That's all I'm ever on.

So to me,

I will pay the twelve ninety five to

not have ads.

I already pay for YouTube TV like that's

like I feel like if I have YouTube

TV,

I should have free free YouTube premium.

How is that not coincided?

It's like I already pay eighty five

dollars a month.

Yeah, that'd be great.

There's a comment box.

You can just drop that in.

Ed's offering to split the cost with you.

Can we watch on two devices at the

same time?

Probably not something we should discuss

on the air.

I'm sure they're going to flag it.

YouTube TV is not cheap.

It's ridiculous.

Yeah.

I got rid of all my streaming services.

I know.

And I'm hoping to help you out too

in the near future.

Um,

so what a Palooza SoCal is this coming

weekend.

Yeah.

The teams have been announced.

Does it start Friday?

I think it's Friday through Sunday.

Okay.

Um,

The first question I'm going to ask is

who you think is going to win?

I think OutKast is going to win.

I don't know.

Proven on paper, but I just think,

I don't know.

I'm going to side with OutKast.

I'm going to side with Proven.

Okay.

And the reason I'm going to do that

was another question on our rundown.

And that is Ariel was on with Alex

Kazan the other night on Girls Unfiltered.

And she said that she was captain because

DB and Ellie don't get along.

So neither one of them could have been

a captain before.

And so she just was the logical choice.

And again, I'm paraphrasing.

I can't pull up clips.

So my question is, does,

if they do not,

we know they had a bike accident incident

at the games that DB was not happy

with how it went.

So does it matter in a team competition

that if the,

do the players need to get along?

Um, no, it could,

it could provide them a little more fire.

Like it totally depends on the event,

like the specific workout.

If there's,

if there's some synchronization that must

happen and they start,

something goes off and they start

bickering, I can see shit falling apart.

But there is also lots of workouts that

are like male, female, or like,

waterfall or and i i can see that

like that wanting to run each other down

and almost like making it more like not

only are you trying to be this team

next year you're also trying to like do

better than ellie if you're danielle so

like for the right workout it could be

okay that's crazy though that makes me

slightly nervous for their team

And so my other question to this,

so you're taking outcasts,

I'm taking proven and we'll check back

next week to see how this goes.

Okay.

The other piece I wanted to bring up

it one,

the winner gets a hundred and twenty

thousand dollars this year.

Yeah.

So that's twenty grand a person.

That's like what six that the games.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I mean,

I'm being probably a tiny bit facetious,

but... No, it really is.

My first question to you is,

if I'm the out... No,

I'm going to ask the other one first.

Are we getting too many events in the

fall and making it too crowded?

Because they went to four teams,

we now notice people who are not electing

to go.

So Brute didn't get to bring their best

female because she had too much else going

on.

Apparently,

a couple of the Mayhem guys turned it

down as well.

And that's why they couldn't,

Mayhem couldn't,

Mayhem couldn't get a field together

because too many people didn't want to do

it?

Or was Mayhem going to be,

like a couple people would have been on

the outcasts?

A couple people are going to be on

Outcasts.

So Mayhem was never going to be able

to create a team.

Correct.

Gotcha.

And then Alex Kazan revealed that she was

offered the position on the Outcasts that

ended up going to Ariel.

Oh.

Did Alex turn it down?

She did.

Because she wants to win Rogue.

I see.

I that's my biggest issue.

Yes.

I think we're too crowded.

I think,

I think rogue is too close to this.

And WFP,

we have a WFP before and after all

this.

And like I heard Alex say that she

got,

had some FOMO to do the combine at

Indianapolis.

but she just needed some time away.

And Ariel said that she actually had to

like really reset her mindset at WFP

because of doing the games.

And then that so close after,

like she said,

she was just mad at everything when she

got there and she had to like reset

and just focus on having fun and enjoying

the moment.

And I think we're getting so crowded that

we're losing.

And someone said,

how can Brute not be favored?

Any team competition,

it's all about the women.

The gap between the best women and down

the line is much greater than the gap

between the top men.

And that is evident at the games.

So that's why Brute has the top three

men for sure.

For sure.

Yes.

But now they,

and this is no knock on the people

they have, but it's not Amy Kringle,

right?

It's Emma Lawson.

It's Jamie Chevry.

And who's the third?

Eileen Weir's.

Emma's going to crush.

Emma was, would be who you would pick,

but.

heavy, in my opinion.

The weekend is heavy,

and that doesn't suit Eileen Weir as well.

Not when you're going up against people

like Hannah Black and Olivia Kerstetter.

Even people like Annika Greer are strong.

They're small, but they're strong.

Yeah.

I mean,

Annika is like the Colton of the female

division.

like Kyra.

Yeah.

So yeah, I just, I wanted your opinion.

Like, I think we're just getting too much.

Totally agree.

And something's going to break some.

And honestly,

you and I have been to a,

I've been to Waterpalooza in Florida.

I've been to WFP.

I've been to CrossFit stuff.

I I've been to rogue.

Rogue is never gonna die.

Heck no.

They just bringing rogue is just

different,

especially cause they bring the strong men

there.

It's that's good for rogue.

Cause it brings in other viewership for

one.

Yeah.

they and they have a ridiculous amount of

money for price first like people want to

go to that yeah and they cover and

they cover the expenses like it's better

than the games and wfp is the same

way they have a ridiculous amount of money

from top to bottom and the top twenty

are guaranteed money the next year like if

you're looking at this from a financial

standpoint

Like,

Rogue and WFP are where the money is.

You have to win the games to win

money.

Right.

You better be damn sure you can podium

at the games.

And that's a tough ask.

You might think you're third.

Like, shoe in for third and get fourth.

And it's not really a great payday.

Like,

you might have been better off trying to

win WFP.

Yeah, it's...

it's going to be interesting to see how

this develops over the next few years,

because someone said here, I can't,

I don't know who it was that athletes

are going to, Oh,

clock clock cutter said some athletes are

going to break.

Athletes are going to either break or

they're going to make a choice.

Yeah.

And I think,

I think we'll start to see a choice

made.

I mean,

we did see a choice made by the

likes of Galen and Jason, and, you know,

they opted not to do WFP.

And that's fine.

Honestly, like,

I'd rather see those guys that have

established sponsorships and money not

take these spots and get people that need

the exposure and the feet they're

travel budget covered to get to these,

to even have a shot to get some

money.

Like,

I'd rather see these emerging names get a

shot.

What I find funny is, you know,

people are saying Dallin, Jason,

Justin didn't even finish the first WFP

season.

James Sprague did.

And look what that monster has done over

the last year.

I know.

It is...

some will follow the money tessa you're

right you're right and they should what i

watched at wfp was a high quality run

event against top competition especially

if you're in those last heats the amount

of experience and um with good competition

that you get and the money you can

earn

If you're not a top five athlete,

you're better off to go to the WFP.

Yep.

And if you're James Sprague,

you just do both and win them both.

Yeah.

Yeah, I just,

I was really impressed by the WFP and

I know I sound like I'm just

I hate the term glazing,

but I feel like that's what I'm doing,

but I really had a good experience there.

I can certainly see the appeal as an

athlete.

Yeah, I see it too.

And and maybe it's you just getting the

experience you need and the money to

financially support yourself until you can

go to the games.

Clock Sprague is doing Rogue and he's

doing Waterpalooza.

He finally got his invite.

He had to take it.

Probably the one he didn't want to accept

it.

He's like, well.

Here's the crazy thing to me is how

does Ellie get an invite?

It is, it is interesting.

And to get one before Ariel was that

you think it was something Justin?

Yes.

I don't love that either that,

or it's an Adam thing.

And all three of his athletes got invited.

If it's that,

I'm actually better with it than if it's

a Justin thing.

Well,

he needs to fix that rift between Ellie

and Danielle.

Yeah, I don't know.

And I love Ellie Turner.

I've had great experiences with her in the

past,

and I love sitting down and talking with

her.

But if I'm looking for an all-star team

to take to SoCal,

she is not one of my top choices.

She is.

I think she's a pretty decent choice for

team.

You just never know with her back.

Cause she's got some home run hitters.

I know.

It, I wonder what this format,

like you can pick where you put people,

like maybe they can avoid some of that.

I totally go through all the events again

and like really put her where I think

she needs to go.

But this is probably the bet,

the better format for her.

Sure.

But if I have an outcast team with

Alex Kazan and Ariel and Daniel Brandon,

I like their chances a lot more.

Now, Alex turned it down,

so we don't have that option anyway.

But thanks, Yvonne.

I think Ellie is a very attractive.

I will say that.

I'm not going to answer the way you

want me to.

Respectfully smash.

But yeah, I think she,

I got to meet her at her first

games and interview her for morning chalk

up.

And it was a very delightful experience

and she was awesome to talk to.

And she was in a bad situation cause

it was right after COVID and she couldn't

get back to Australia.

Yeah.

So, um,

So the last thing I think I wanted

to talk about,

and then we can get off,

and then I can go meet my wife

and daughter at the pool, is Wayne O'Hara,

pot for PEDs.

I have not watched all of this interview.

So full disclosure there.

You cannot watch it.

Well, listen.

Yes,

I haven't listened to the whole thing.

Nor have I even finished Hiller's full

video on it.

I'm only like twenty minutes for Hiller's

video.

So I've watched all of Hiller's.

I listened to enough of the interview with

Wayne that I'd shut it off.

And I'd made the statement earlier this

week that if you pop for PEDs,

I don't want to hear from you.

I've heard all the excuses.

None of them hold water.

I don't give a shit.

Go to your corner, make your appeal,

do whatever you want to do.

But I don't want to hear from you

until you're coming back four years later.

I changed my mind.

You can only come out and talk is

if you do the interview with Hiller.

Okay.

Because he can call bullshit so fast.

I don't know enough about this stuff to

know what bullshit I'm being thrown and

have the ability to sift through it.

Where Hiller knows this stuff like the

back of his hand.

Right.

So if you pop four PEDs and you

have a legit excuse as to why you

did,

then you call Hiller

and say you want to do an interview

with him.

And if you can get through that test,

then I'll listen.

Okay.

But other than that, shut the hell up.

Because to say I didn't know is bullshit.

Yeah.

Well,

what I caught of Hiller recapping it was

like,

The dude was like, what,

nine hundred a thousand or something like

that.

Yeah.

Like, yeah,

you're straight up like blasting it at

this point.

You're better than you're better than

really anyone.

A twenty year old like nobody's really

going to have that number.

So and there's no way you didn't notice

significant.

Benefit from it right away.

Yes,

I wish Hiller would have been speaking to

him when he was saying these things so

he could be like, yeah, false.

Well, he said like,

nine hundred was the high end of normal.

And Hiller goes, I don't know what...

He said every doctor has a different range

for normal,

so to say what's normal is very hard

to do.

But in any of these ranges,

nine hundred is not normal.

Right.

And...

And so, yeah,

like that's what I appreciate.

Cause when,

when Hiller does the breakdown and he has

all this knowledge about what these things

should be, he knows what hormones or what,

all of that stuff.

And I just, I just, I,

and I'm so sick of the excuses.

Yeah.

I'm with John George.

Everybody knows it's in the rules.

If you're competing in CrossFit, you know,

you can't take performance enhancing.

So what is this that I'm hearing that

there is a TRT, like, waiver?

It's not a TRT waiver.

It's a therapeutic exemption.

Yeah.

So those are in a lot of sports.

This I know a little bit about.

Like,

if you are an asthmatic and you can

get your albuterol covered under

therapeutic exemption...

then so you can use your inhaler if

you can't breathe.

Correct.

Now,

I don't know what criteria to get TRT

included in your exemption is.

But Wayne said on this thing, and again,

it's coming from Wayne,

that CrossFit told him an example was that

if you had testicular cancer,

and a doctor said you should get TRT

to get testosterone back into your system,

that that might be approved.

But again,

that's Wayne's saying what CrossFit said.

Okay.

So I don't know if there are people...

Hiller kind of led you to believe that

he now believes that several people have

this.

Wow.

And nobody will tell you,

but I didn't make that leap.

I always thought that TRT was not a...

You couldn't get a therapeutic exemption

for TRT.

Well, again,

if we're leading people to believe that

some people are on...

levels that are i guess exemption waiver

like this this is the problem if you

go down this path and people start to

think like yeah well everyone's on it

because they have a waiver and so like

i gotta get at least like five six

hundred levels so that i'm like in the

that's the problem well i can't imagine

anybody getting a therapeutic exemption to

get over nine hundred

No, you wouldn't.

That's why he got caught.

But like,

if he would have kept it at six

hundred, would he have been fine?

That's what that's where I'm like,

curious what the heck's going on.

So, again,

this is where Hiller's expertise is way

better than mine from people I have talked

to that are athletes.

And again, all of this is suspect.

You can basically ride the line and as

long as it doesn't get too high,

you're not going to get dinged.

Right.

Yeah.

But this was nine fifty.

This got this would have got dinged with

or without a therapeutic exemption.

Right.

So.

I don't know.

Do I think people are taking it in

at least low doses to try to up

it a little?

I bet they are.

That's sad.

But I don't know.

I've come to the realization in the sports

world that I watch outside of CrossFit

that a lot of people use and the

people I least suspect it or probably pop

positive for it at some point.

It just happens.

In the NFL,

they announce it and it's not even a

blip on the radar anymore.

Like, okay,

sit out your four games and come back.

We'll see you.

Like, it is such a non-thing.

So that boggles my mind.

But in Olympic sports or like CrossFit or

things like that,

I think that it is way more prevalent

now.

And it is much more than a blip.

If you win a medal at the Olympics

and you test positive,

it's going to make more than a blip.

I bet fifty percent of age groups at

the games are using.

That's sad to even think

possible but if you're missing a testicle

I'm okay with it I'm pretty sure they

won't be lining up to hack off a

testy I've seen people do some crazy shit

Larry so there won't be a Clydesdale

biomex code anytime soon we'll take a

biomex yeah

If you are doing it for quality of

life, more power to you.

If you need peptides to make you feel

better, go get peptides.

That's what they're made for.

But the problem is if you want to

compete, you cannot use them.

That is the rule.

And I think it was even said to

Wayne, like,

do you have to make the choice?

Do you want a better quality of life?

Or do you want to compete in this

sport?

And he said he didn't see any effect

from the TRT,

which is complete and utter bullshit.

If you didn't feel anything,

why were you taking it?

Right.

Because if I'm

If I'm taking heart medicine and my AFib

comes back every time I take it,

why would I keep taking it?

That's just asinine.

We do have thirdsy though.

Take that.

We do, we do.

And it's a great recovery tool.

No, none of that stinky melatonin.

None of that.

It's got the collagen protein to help you

recover.

It's third-party tested,

so you won't pop for PEDs.

And you get it for fifteen percent off

with code Jazzy at checkout.

ThirdG.com backslash Jazzy.

Recovery is king.

Code Jazzy.

And Sarah Cox,

if you want to sponsor the show,

we would love to have you.

I've met Sarah.

She is a really cool person.

Um, and it's very nice and very sweet,

but, um, but if you're an athlete,

like Jamie's not going to give you what

she used of the peptides because she's

competing and we want her to win in

a fair and equitable manner.

I can take all the peptides.

I'll take them all.

so with that yeah we'll have them school

you yeah all right guys i'm gonna get

out of here actually i'm losing all of

my sunlight and uh we will talk to

you all next time my daughter is in

the chat she's like come swim uh we'll

see everybody i there will be no show

tomorrow i'm heading to glacier national

park

with the family.

And then we'll be back on Tuesday for

a lunch show.

And with that,

we'll see everybody next time on Sunday,

Sunday, Sunday night, CrossFit talk.
