Marketing for Authors: Be Your Book's Marketing Hero

AI is genuinely good at synthesis, pattern-matching, and clearing away blank-page paralysis. It's genuinely bad at knowing what actually matters to one particular human being. In part four, I share the test that separates real quality AI use from the rest: did a person actually make the decision, or did they just approve whatever the AI handed them? Those look identical on the surface. They're not the same thing.

Now I want to inspect how quality AI has a
lot to do with judgment versus approval.

Before I get started, if you haven't been
following along from the beginning,

I suggest going back for the first three
installments in this series.

Links are in the comments. Okay,

I want to talk about judgment versus
approval.

AI is genuinely good at certain things,

synthesis, pattern matching across huge
amounts of information,

automation,

and clearing away blank page paralysis,

among others. is also not the best at a
lot of other things too,

but today I want to focus on how AI is
genuinely bad at knowing what actually

matters,

especially what matters to one particular
human being.

So here's the test to use. Did a person
actually make the decision,

or did they just approve whatever the AI
handed them?

Those look identical on the surface,

but they're not the same thing.

Quality AI use puts the AI to work on
breadth,

including research options, first drafts,

etc. But it keeps the judgment,

the prioritization, and the final call in
human hands.

The moment that reverses,

the moment a person is just rubber
stamping outputs,

quality drops, even if nobody can
immediately tell.

So whatever you want to call it,

judgment, discernment, critical thinking,

keep it human.
