Nirvana – Territorial Pissings
Sanchez. – Knock Them Down
Meaningful Stone – Shadow Beauty
Stevie Zita – Dennis Rodman

PART 1 FACTS
Nirvana – Territorial Pissings
- So, two pieces of history on this one, we go back to 1992 as Nirvana’s “Nevermind” hits #1 on this date, unseating Michael Jackson’s Dangerous for the top spot. The band that night goes on to play to a national TV audience on Saturday Night Live, then trash their instruments and anything that’s not nailed down on stage.
- Now, as memorable as that momentito is, Prince Paolo. My favorite Nirvana on national TV moment has to be at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier that year, when Krist Novoselic tossed his bass into the air (which was a thing he did a lot at the end of shows), but didn’t catch it, and appeared to knock himself out on national TV.
- He says he just stayed down cuz he was embarrassed. I’ll take his word for it, I suppose.
Sanchez. – Knock Them Down
- Our main man Oisin Magee is out with this first single from his new LP as of last Wednesday, and he’ll be joining us on the show to premiere maybe one or two other joints off the album.
- The album is called Burgundy, which is out February 16. Big up to all the artists involved on this project, especially our main man Dan Lloyd, who’s the main producer, and of course, the keys on this tune from Kamen Ross.
- Burgundy, Feb 16. Join us this Friday as sanchez. Causes some havoc in the studio.
Meaningful Stone – Shadow Beauty
- This is the title tune to a drama called Shadow Beauty or 나만의 모양, so just a standalone single.
- You can check out the full show on Netflix, which is about this girl named Koo Ae-jin who’s kind of bully bait at school. However, by night she’s Genie, a heavily photoshopped social media star with nearly 1 million followers.
Stevie Zita – Dennis Rodman
- Our main lo-fi rock guy outta T.dot is back with his latest as of last week.
- This I believe is his first release since last year’s Cosmica EP dropped, so do check it out. Big up to Stevie Zita!
Joey Pecoraro – The Mouse
- The latest single from Joey Pecoraro, who’s a very talented young cat out of Michigan.
- His stuff seems to be popping out at greater & greater rates as time goes on, but it also keeps getting tighter and more focused.
- He also got production credit on Adele’s latest album “30” called All Night Parking, which is just massive.
Los Days – West Winds
- Interesting album that just dropped here, with this being the title track. The band is the duo of Tommy Guerrero and Josh Lippi. This was recorded over 5 days with very basic recording equipment and no social media disctractions, with the band trying to channel the energy of the desert.
PART 2 SONGS
M A N E - Night Things
SwuM and afternoon bike ride – Rewind
Let's Eat Grandma - Happy New Year
Alt - J - Hard Drive Gold
Widowspeak - Everything Is Simple
PYNKIE - crushed out / try
PART 2 FACTS
M A N E - Night Things (1:23 “fucking”)
- This track is one of my favorites on tonight’s playlist. MANE is an artist based in Portland. There are a lot of artists out there who describe their music as a blend of genres but I think MANE takes this to another level.
- This new track “Night Things” is a mix of electronic, rock, and hip hop and R&B and I think MANE does a really great job of keeping the track very cohesive.
SwuM and afternoon bike ride – Rewind
- SwuM is kind of a legend in the producer and beat-making world. He travels back and forth between NYC and Tel Aviv and since 2016, he’s made 128 songs spread out over 9 albums and 6 EPs.
- Last year, he also got a shoutout and endorsement from the legendary Flying Lotus. Out of all the accolades you can get as a beat-maker, I think bending the ear of FlyLo has to be one of the highest forms of praise for sure.
- Anyway, this new song was made with trio, Afternoon Bike Ride. The trio made a song around a loop that SwuM made, adding vocals, bass, drums, and synths, and then they sent it back to SwuM for some finishing touches. I think the track turned out fantastically. Very strong offering for sure.
Let's Eat Grandma - Happy New Year
- Let’s Eat Grandma is a British pop group comprised of Rosa Walton and Jenny Hollingworth. “Happy New Year” is their latest single and it is the third single release from their upcoming new album.
- Their new album, “Two Ribbons”, will be the group’s third album. No official dates set yet so stayed tuned for more info soon.
- The song is about the duo’s deep-rooted friendship and how it has grown and evolved through the years. Fun fact, the two have been friends since kindergarten, which is pretty amazing if you ask me.
Alt - J - Hard Drive Gold
- Alt J is an alternative band from the UK. The group is comprised of four friends who met while attending Leeds University more than a decade ago.
- Their new single “Hard Drive Gold” is taken from their forthcoming new album, “The Dream” which is scheduled to drop February 11th via Infections Music.
- The refrain in the song goes, “Don’t be afraid to make some money boy” and the band explains that the track is meant to be a slightly tongue-in-cheek song influenced by the cryptocurrency craze going on.
Widowspeak - Everything Is Simple
- Widowspeak is an indie-rock outfit based in Brooklyn. Just last week, they announced the coming of their sixth studio album. The album will be called “The Jacket” and it it scheduled for release on March 11th via Captured Tracks.
- “Everything is Simple” is the first single release from that forthcoming album. The song was originally supposed to be written from the viewpoint of a fictional band but as it evolved, it just turned out to be an increasingly accurate representation of their own band.
- I guess that probably happens a lot of artists, because eventually people just end up writing about what they know the most.
PYNKIE - crushed out / try
- PYNKIE is the moniker of New Jersey based indie artist Lindsey Radice. Fun fact, she is also an ortho /neuro nurse, which I think is pretty awesome.
- Back in 2020, she released a very solid album entitled “#37”. She followed that up with a song called “Movies” last year and now she has this new tune called “Crushed Out / Try”. She says it is a demo track but I’ve already seen it pop up on a few blogs online so it looks like people are responding well to it.
PART 3 SONGS
Leah Dunn - Low Resolution
Ttypes - Rock Bottom in Shanghai
Yungatita - Hell On Earth
Late Kids - Some Days
First Frontier - Jagged Line
Digital Carbs - In Limbo
PART 3 FACTS
Leah Dunn - Low Resolution
- Leah Dunn is an indie rock singer-songwriter from Belmont, California. “Low Resolution” is her very latest and it is all about New Year’s Resolutions and how many of us fall short of our goals. She says it is the perfect soundtrack for those who spent New Year’s alone.
- Leah is currently still studying at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. She released a debut EP in 2019, and a full-length album in 2020. This year she has a new project lined up.
- She will release a new song each month this year so keep an eye out for her future releases.
Ttypes - Rock Bottom in Shanghai
- Ttypes is the musical project of Grand Rapids-based songwriter, Tim Krauss. He got inspired to create this song when he heard someone say the phrase “Rock bottom in Shanghai”. He thought it sounded cool, and I agree.
- The song is about someone living in Shanghai who is lamenting over a former lover, smoking far too much weed, and not eating enough food.
Yungatita - Hell On Earth
- Yungatita is awesome. Yungatita is a band fronted by Valentina Zapata and they based in East LA.
- This new track, “Hell on Earth” is one half of a double single release.
- The other track is called “Raindrop”. It’s also really good but a much slower jam when compared to the whirlwind of sound that “Hell on Earth” is. But don’t let that fool you, it also rocks pretty hard. Anyway, check out Yungatita if you haven’t already, they make great tunes with a lot of energy.
Late Kids - Some Days
- Late Kids is an indie pop band from Austin, Texas. This trio debuted a little over a year ago with a track called “Run”. Then they quickly followed that up with a song called “Lonely Game”.
- Now they are back with a new track to kick off the new year and I think it’s really good. Very catchy and well done. There’s also a sort of timeless quality about it, it’s just a very solidly crafted track. And definite bonus points for the saxophone solo near the end of the tune.
First Frontier - Jagged Line
- First Frontier is a garage rock duo from Birmingham. “Jagged Line” is their very latest and it is a track about the line between hedonism and self-control, more specifically, it’s about alcohol and drug abuse.
- The band says that they wanted to make a song about that feeling where you don’t want a night out to end. Most people are already on their way home but you want to keep the party going, kind of thing.
Digital Carbs - In Limbo
- Digital Carbs is from Munich, Germany and “In Limbo” is their debut single. First off, I think Digital Carbs might be my new favorite moniker, it is just genius on so many levels.
- “In Limbo” will be part of a forthcoming debut album. Digital Carbs started this project back in 2018 and now has about 30 unreleased songs, so he figured, it is time to get his music out there.
- He states that Radiohead is one of his biggest influences musically and I am not surprised at all. Radiohead was exactly the first band that came to mind when I heard “In Limbo”. Anyway, looking forward to hearing more from Digital Carbs.
PART 4 SONGS
French Police - Club De Vampiros
Sugarloaf Beach - Champagne Beach
jarry - Birthday Cake
The Ruinz - High Seas
Lewis McLaughlin - Wolf in The Woods
River Tiber - Sent From Above
PART 4 FACTS
French Police - Club De Vampiros
- French Police is a trio from Chicago. The band is fronted by Brian Flores, and since their debut in 2019, they have been making what they describe as emotionally wrought post-punk music.
- I think the track is very accurately titled, there is a definite darkness and mystery to this tune, and I can definitely picture this tune being played very loudly on a foggy dancefloor populated by sexy vampires.
Sugarloaf Beach - Champagne Beach
- Sugarloaf Beach is a Brazilian singer/songwriter who is currently based in Melbourne. I really like his music. His sound is a blend of surf-rock, dream-pop, and bossa nova and tropicalia.
- I think this mix of North and South American inspirations just sounds so good.
- Sugarloaf Beach has a talent for making catchy tunes and I think his new offering is yet another example of that ability.
jarry - Birthday Cake
- Jarry is the solo project of Australian musician Jared Young.
- His new single “Birthday Cake” came out on his actual birthday, so happy belated birthday to you Jarry. He says that the track is about getting over the fear of aging and I guess it is well timed because he is now 31 years old.
- That 30th birthday has always been a cause for panic for a lot of people I think, but in the big picture, it’s still quite young when you think about it.
The Ruinz - High Seas
- The Ruinz Is a Canadian indie rock artist. It looks like he’s still pretty new on the scene as there isn’t much info about him online yet.
- Anyway, I came across this song and instantly liked it. It’s dreamy, relaxing, and just very easy on the ears.
- There is a cool music video of people surfing on a beautiful beach, which I also found really relaxing and strangely healing. I don’t know, I just think that watching slow motion footage of people surfing is really fascinating.
Lewis McLaughlin - Wolf in The Woods
- Lewis McLaughlin is an artist based is Glasglow. I randomly came across his new song ‘Wolf in the Woods” and although it isn’t my usual cup of tea, it caught my attention. The vibe was is just so strong, I would describe it as “healing”.
- The song just made me feel good inside and I wanted to share the vibe with all of you tonight.
- Lewis has his debut album coming out soon. The album will drop on March 25th via Monohands so stayed tuned for that.
River Tiber - Sent From Above
- We’ve got a very smooth landing to close out the show courtesy of River Tiber. River Tiber is the alias of Toronto-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Tommy Paxton-Beesley.
- “Sent From Above” is his first track since the release of his Rainbow Road / Hypnotized EP which was released back in late 2020.
- The track is very much a throwback kind of tune but with some modern production, I’m totally in love with this one, it’s been on repeat for me all weekend.
