[00:00] Chuck Hayes: Welcome to the checkered Flag Report. This is Chuck Hayes with David Gould and we're here talking Formula One. David, great to be with you. You know, we always love the day after the opportunity comes to talk about a race like Monaco. But we also have a race coming up in Barcelona. So it's been one of those hurry up and waits, now we're full. Pedal to the metal. Kind of like Kimmy Antonelli.

[00:24] David Gould: Yeah, it was. I don't know what to tell you. We. I've got a laundry list of stuff to talk about as far as Monaco's concern concerned. But yeah, you know, I get the tapas. Get the tapas ready because we're going to be in Spain.

[00:36] Chuck Hayes: And just remember, championship wishes, champagne wishes, and caviar dreams. That's no doubt about Monaco. We want to thank our presenting sponsor, Chavez Realty Development Apartments Business affairs, real estate assessment. 626-4401-545, 626-4401-5545.

[00:55] David Gould: You know, Chuck. Oh, I'm sorry.

[00:57] Chuck Hayes: Yeah.

[00:57] David Gould: I hate to interrupt you.

[00:58] Chuck Hayes: Yes.

[00:59] David Gould: But it just occurred to me that he said champagne wishes and caviar dreams, that when the track cracked out there on, on in. In Monaco, that they didn't have the, the paving guys out there. So they did go into one of the, one of the boats and pull out several tins of caviar and fill the cracks up with that.

[01:17] Chuck Hayes: And those Pirellis handled that really well. Soft tire or on the hard tire?

[01:22] David Gould: I don't know, man.

[01:23] Chuck Hayes: Maybe they put the reins on for the caviar.

[01:25] David Gould: Absolutely ridiculous.

[01:27] Chuck Hayes: Well, here's the thing, you know, Monaco is different. And I'm just going to say right out of the bat, I'm going to come off and drive this show. We're going to that first corner. David, I just want you to know I'm got the pole.

[01:40] David Gould: Yes.

[01:41] Chuck Hayes: The fastest lap. And I'm going to lead every lap today. And you're going to see nothing but my rear view mirrors. Well, yeah, and that's the way it went down in Monaco. Now, he was.

[01:51] David Gould: I understand he was Ricky Ricardo. And the conga line.

[01:54] Chuck Hayes: I understand what you. Yeah, but a lot happened in that conga line. And the first thing I want to draw attention to you as we talk about this and we want to make sure everyone follows us at lvchecker flag. At lvcheckered flag. For all the great insight as we cover this is that it could have been a disastrous first lap.

[02:13] David Gould: Yeah.

[02:13] Chuck Hayes: Because what happened with Max Verstappen when he had that Mysterious technical glitch at launch, leaving the RB22 steering wheel completely blacked out before the lights went out. That had to be one of the scarier moments and I don't think it's gotten enough attention.

[02:30] David Gould: Yeah.

[02:31] Chuck Hayes: In regards to how precarious the guy sitting in the second spot with an entire, you know, 20 car field behind him and they're diving because they want to not be left behind. Getting around him was just miraculous.

[02:47] David Gould: Yeah, it was. You know, it's a testament to how good these guys are. But as I said before, it was just one of many in a chain of events that made this kind of, I don't know, it was just a mess.

[03:02] Chuck Hayes: I thought, well, you feel unsettled, David. I'm feeling your, you want to get it off your chest. You feel, you feel a little unsettled. I'm not. You know why? Because I just watched one of the greatest performances in the history of F1, and I'm not talking about Kim Kardashian stealing Kimmy Antonelli's towel.

[03:19] David Gould: Oh, or she had an umbrella guy just like Michael Jackson.

[03:22] Chuck Hayes: That's the same guy.

[03:23] David Gould: She had an umbrella guy.

[03:24] Chuck Hayes: That guy works continually. He's the best in the business. He's, he's used to handling that major pressure.

[03:29] David Gould: Oh, yeah, yeah. The champions coming. Get Kimmy out of here or get, get. Oh, my God.

[03:35] Chuck Hayes: No, you're right. Get Kimmy out of there. That's what you wanted to do. Now no one said anything about Chloe. I didn't see Chloe have a. Having a same umbrella person.

[03:43] David Gould: Well, it's an NBA championship weekend, so she couldn't make it.

[03:47] Chuck Hayes: Chuck Hayes with David Go. Okay, so get off your chest why you're so unsettled. I don't know if you saw the podium. Kimmy Antonelli, Lewis Hamilton, 6.2 seconds behind him. Isaac Hajar, really a phenomenal run for him, 23.39 behind. So when you look at it, what, what is there to complain about?

[04:07] David Gould: Well, first of all, we've had the, we, we've had the setup and we've discussed this over the years that the cars are too big for such an old course, at least in my opinion. They are. It's very difficult to pass. They're, you know, they talk about being. I, I like how they're hammering these guys for going out of bounds. I'm going to. Do you mean going out of bounds?

[04:25] Chuck Hayes: It's a wall.

[04:26] David Gould: There's no going out of bounds. This is ridiculous. So I, I, oh, you have notes.

[04:33] Chuck Hayes: You came prepared today. To talk about. Yeah.

[04:35] David Gould: Oh, yeah. I got, I seriously, I got a laundry list and I think it was. Was it Lance Stroll? Yeah.

[04:41] Chuck Hayes: On that laundry list is your tuxedos to get ready to go. I mean, how many did you go through this weekend? Okay, go ahead.

[04:48] David Gould: We're going to Barcelona. I'm not, I'm not wearing a tuxedo in Barcelona. I'm wearing a matador's outfit. But that's another story entirely. We'll get to that. Anyway, so Stroll obviously is he was dinged for exceeding. Exceeding track limits. When you're looking at this thing going, I don't know how you can do that. I don't know how that's possible to exceed track limits unless you're, unless you're going straight across the chicane or you're banging into the walls. It just didn't make any sense. Okay, let's start for. It's like, okay. Ghastly Gasly drives a great race, but gets dinged, goes from third to seventh because of the same thing. There were five drivers who got dinged for the same penalty and that was exceeding, exceeding track limits in the pit lane. And you gotta wonder, okay, if five guys are doing it and some one of them, I think it might have been ghastly who did it twice. And they're going, what? There's something, there's something wrong there. There's something. They got to fix that. Okay, so they got that and that. And then, and then Russell, Russell gets penalized for not serving the first penalty properly. And I think, and I'm not sure because I haven't reviewed it, but I think what happened is he went into the pits and instead of sitting there for five seconds, the tire crew immediately lifts him off the ground and starts replacing his tires. Therefore, he cannot serve. And that's mandatory. You have to serve the five second penalty right there in the pits. So that's gone. Okay, so next. And here's the other thing is Hamilton has quietly taken Russell's place in the standings. He's now in second place.

[06:34] Chuck Hayes: So I don't think he did it quietly, but that's okay. I like how you. We're in the library here.

[06:39] David Gould: No, no, the other hall of the Lewis ham. Hey, knock it off. Knock it off. Okay. All right. So Hamilton also passed. I think he passed S. Senna's record for podiums in Monaco. And I think it's 8, 8 podiums in Monaco. And he was tied with him before, I believe. And now it's. Now he's actually past Senna which is a huge, monumental thing. Good for Lewis. Okay, that's a positive. Okay, we got the pit lane thing and. And then Perez out of position for the restart. What the. What is that? I mean, can't they figure out where the car needs to be for the restart? They shut the thing down for. Which is. All right, let's talk about the restart for a second. They do an inspection because there's a safety car, and lo and behold, it's not like there's a couple of pieces of debris on the track. The whole track, this whole section is cracking like it's. It's the, you know, the 210 freeway here.

[07:36] Chuck Hayes: It's just.

[07:36] David Gould: It's just insane. You're going, this is Monaco. I mean, look at the money that's concentrated here, and they can't figure out how to pave this thing.

[07:43] Chuck Hayes: Chuck Hayes with David Gould. Follow us at lvchecker Flag. At lvchecker Flag. We want to thank Coach Harvey Hyde, Football Promotions of Nevada, for powering the fastest hour on radio. David. All legitimate stories.

[07:55] David Gould: Yeah, I'm worked.

[07:56] Chuck Hayes: Added to the flavor, I guess maybe what happened was, you know, you had to wait an extra 40 minutes when you parked the yacht and you didn't get to the party that you were looking to go to, and that you're looking a little cranky. I understand that, but I want to. I want to just be a positive guy today, because for me, I don't care if three cars finished. Yeah, it's Monaco. They had a podium, and there was a tremendous celebration, and a kid has won his fifth race in a row. So all the things you say, all the things you say are all legit.

[08:32] David Gould: Yeah.

[08:33] Chuck Hayes: But I'm looking at the champagne glass filled, not half filled. I want it filled. Because what Antonelli has done now, and he's basically really destroying maybe three or four teams while he's doing this, including his own. So that's one thing we have to look at. So, again, I knew coming into this that you were going to be fired up because you're. You're a protocol guy. You love order. And when you see things that aren't fair, you're going to let people know because it's so hard. It's so hard. But I just like in the fact that it's. Every time I look up, the kid's doing something that no one's done before in the most pressurized, most covered environment that we've seen in Formula One. So we're going to get ready to box, box, box. We're going to take on Pirelli's. What kind are you taking on, David? You taking soft, hard or medium? Which way are we going to go?

[09:27] David Gould: Okay, well, we're in there. We're, we're still in there. So I'm going to take mediums right now.

[09:31] Chuck Hayes: Chuck Hayes with David Go. We love talking Formula one. Join us every week at this time so you can get some insight in all the great stories. F1. We do this because Vegas is going to be hosting F1 in November. We're on the road there always. Chuck Hayes with David Go. We're going to take a short time out in box, box, box. We come back, we're going to talk about issues and more issues along with some standings. Foreign. Welcome back. Checkered flag report. This is Chuck Hayes and David Gould. We're talking Formula one. We want to thank our presenting sponsor, Chavez Realty development, apartments, business affairs, real estate assessment. That's 626-4401-5545. Chavez Real weekly development. Okay, so you have a legitimate notes with your champagne bottle semi full. I'm not going to say it's not half full. It's, it's semi full. But I just want to go with the results for Monaco. And then we're going to throw back to you on the issues because you're the fix it guy now as you stand in front of the world and tell everybody why this wasn't as great as advertised. So we got Antonelli winning five in a row. Lewis Hamilton is second, 6.2 seconds. Isaac Hajjar, Max Verstappen's teammate on the podium, 23 seconds behind. Then there's McLaren's Oscar Piastri, 24 seconds behind. Liam Lawson, Racing Bulls 26 seconds behind at number five. Then Arvid Lindblad again from the Racing Bulls, 29.01 seconds behind the aforementioned Mr. Gastly with his multiple penalties. 30 seconds behind Alexander Albon and eighth, 33 seconds behind. Esteban Okon, 37 seconds behind in ninth. And then how about this one? Aston Martin, Fernando Alonzo with a point scoring effort at number 10. What? He replaced the old Sergio Perez Cadillac in that spot. So congratulations to the man who was pointing out on the track. Yeah, hey guys, guess what? The track's breaking up. And he was the guy to say, hey, first look at what's going on. Okay, so David, now you're going to address these issues and this is the way I will set you up.

[12:59] David Gould: Okay?

[13:00] Chuck Hayes: Number one, issue Max DNF at the start. Lando with issue on lap 43 did not finish. The guy who looks in the mirror and says I'm the world champion with a DM and F. Charles Leclair, lap 64 DNF why? Because he had a severe brake failure in that Ferrari. So his supplier Brembo is a little bit. Yeah, right now because Charles got after it.

[13:26] David Gould: They offered him new breaks though.

[13:27] Chuck Hayes: And then the last piece of the puzzle is George Russell finishing 12th, 43 seconds behind. And that could not have felt good when George walked home to his pad in Monaco to know that he finished 12th to a 19 year old kid who's his teammate. Go ahead, David.

[13:43] David Gould: Yeah, sorry, I'm. I'm fired up here. Anyway, the Cadillac thing, let's not forget that, that, that Austin Martin got their point because Cadillac stepped on their own toe and had to serve a penalty. And that put them, I mean, here's a point. Oh, I'm sorry, not for you. And they gave it to Austin Martin done. You know, Hamilton had a great thing. He's looking good. Verstappen. He just limped off the, off the track, on under battery power. So this wasn't even an electrical issue, this was a mechanical issue or at least some sort of blend between the two. But he was able to get the car gently off the track with battery power. And that's. That is dangerous, I will say that. Especially when you know, you got these, you got to start and you got all these people trying to avoid you that you know that no one slammed into you. Okay, that's done. And Alpine is filing a formal review arguing that pit lane speed penalties given to Pierre Gasly, which cost him a podium spot, were a calc. Were calculated using flawed track data. And that brings up the entire issue which is five people were nailed, were dinged for speeding in the, in the pit lane.

[15:02] Chuck Hayes: Have you ever seen the old F1 movies, Grand Prix? Have you ever seen the people who would track the laps? First of all, a lot of the driver's wives used to sit on pit road. They have three stopwatches. Did you ever see that? The three stopwatch deal. And they would time and they would do all that and then there'd be some guy who was the brother in law, the guy who was a starter who let him count the laps and switch the card over or check something. We got coverage like we've never seen before. And technology in car cameras, we hear every driver correspondence with their pit crew. You think that when that happens that you have that opportunity to really appeal. You think that they screwed it up, that I'm I don't know, David. I'm just giving you what I see. So that when Alpine goes in there, they better have really it nailed down. Right.

[16:00] David Gould: Well, let's look at the bigger picture here. They got this problem going on with five different drivers. Then they got a track that they can't seem to, you know, in the, in the richest city in the entire sport that they can't seem to keep together what's going on. I mean, I, I'm sorry, but I don't see five guys breaking the rules like that when they are so disciplined and they know what they're doing. In fact, I think that. I think that there's a button on the steering wheel that keeps them from exceeding the speed in the, in the, in the pits. So it's not like they. It's not like they have the option and they just screwed up. So something is wrong and I'm not exactly sure what it is, but there is something wrong.

[16:43] Chuck Hayes: Chuck Hayes with David Gould. And if anyone's going to get to the bottom of it, my guy Dave's going to do it because he is with Alpine. They're on, they're on their phone constantly now. Yeah, I see that as your new mission, David.

[16:53] David Gould: Yes.

[16:54] Chuck Hayes: When you see that Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto. Who isn't Franco your cousin? I think he is. I, I've heard, I've heard rumors to that, but no. Is that perhaps one of the reasons that we're getting their name out there is maybe their new sponsor wants to have a little more exposure. This is all great because we're talking about Alpine right now.

[17:17] David Gould: Yes.

[17:18] Chuck Hayes: So anytime you're talking about this, you're not mentioning Red Bull, you're not mentioning Ferrari.

[17:23] David Gould: Right.

[17:23] Chuck Hayes: You're getting that out there in front of. So that's where I.

[17:26] David Gould: It's not like they've got a lot of attention in the past. Okay. So the ghastly is doing a great job. And if you look at Alpine's history, they have a, A very, very shady character.

[17:37] Chuck Hayes: The word is checkered.

[17:38] David Gould: Yeah, checkered.

[17:39] Chuck Hayes: Checkered. And we're not talking about checkered flag.

[17:41] David Gould: No, that's with a K. Okay. Okay.

[17:43] Chuck Hayes: This is checkered flag report. There you go.

[17:46] David Gould: This is a, this is like a rap sheet type of stuff. So their, their principal and I. His name eludes me right now.

[17:54] Chuck Hayes: Allegedly.

[17:55] David Gould: Allegedly. Yeah. Did. Did some other screwy stuff and ended up having to sit out for a couple of years until the, the term of his suspension. Suspension was, was completely. I think there was a legal thing though.

[18:11] Chuck Hayes: Well, anytime F1A gets into it and

[18:14] David Gould: he's come back, he's come back and put Alpine on the map. And not only is that he just inked that deal for a hundred fifty million dollars with Gucci, So now he has a Gucci mobile, you know, I wonder if that has the horse bits across the, across the front of the car.

[18:31] Chuck Hayes: So that's what I'm talking about. Their name is in lights now.

[18:34] David Gould: Yeah.

[18:34] Chuck Hayes: And everyone's talking about him. You're talking about him. You're fired up. You're going to be rooting for gasoline. Actually, Barcelona, I will be right now the villain. Everyone's feeling bad. No, no, I'm saying the old villain, Max versus people are starting to feel for him because they've gone out and they've tried to start their car and, you know, they had to call AAA to come get him.

[19:00] David Gould: Think about what Max was saying early in the season, that these cars, he was not happy with these cars. They tweaked them, they got a little bit better. Certainly they got better for Hamilton. They've kept Mercedes just leading the entire thing. They're blowing everybody away. But this, when you look at him, he's going, I don't know, is this the year? He's just going to say, forget this. I'll just, you know, I'll go, I'll race Le Mans, I'll do other things. What do I. What do. I'll raise the Porsche series. What do I need to do this for?

[19:32] Chuck Hayes: Chuck Gave with David Gould. Kind of interesting, David, this weekend is Le Mans and I don't understand in the motorsport calendar world why we can't get the three biggest races so that the all three of the races have the greatest drivers in the history of mankind at this current time in a car. So that the race fan can go, yeah, that's spectacular. So again, 24 hours of Le Mans and wouldn't it be wild if Max just went like, you know what? I don't feel it. This weekend in Spain, I'm going over to Lamont and I'll check you guys on Monday when I feel better about what's going on. Because that's just probably in his mind, this is difficult.

[20:10] David Gould: Well, I'll tell you why I say that, because when I see him after a start like Monaco, he looks very settled. He does not look angry, he doesn't look like the usual.

[20:20] Chuck Hayes: That's not a good sign.

[20:21] David Gould: That's not a good sign for Max.

[20:22] Chuck Hayes: Right?

[20:23] David Gould: That's a sign like, you know, he's thinking Do I want to stay with this, with these, you know, golf carts, these supercharged golf carts or something. What, you know.

[20:33] Chuck Hayes: Anyway, yeah, he had a, he had some, some strong, strong words for the, the prototype. As we follow this at LV checkered flag. At LV checker flag. We're remind everybody that we're here every week doing this. David Gould, Chuck Hayes and we're talking about what is the most unique. It's, it's bigger than a reality series. It is the circus on steroids. And I think, you know, it's important to know that they're in Europe right now and what we're saying is just a, a touch of the, of the iceberg in regards to what's going on in Europe right now. They're really, really, really uptight about this and what is happening and Antonelli as a storyline, they're just not, they weren't ready for this and I don't think Mercedes was ready for it. And Toto's got to be loving life in regards to him picking it. But on the flip side of the coin he's got unhappy George Russell who how do you make him happy now, David? I mean you gotta win and maybe you know, he's got a chance at Barcelona but the more this kid gets to do what he's doing, the more distance he's creating. And then we mentioned Ferrari and leclaire's not having a good month at all. I mean from Miami no to what's going on now in, in Canada and then Monaco, he's he last three races has not been good for him. But yet Lewis Hamilton happier than ever. Picking up a second space, a second place spot. And David, I have to ask you, you're the bon vivant in regards to fashion. Some of Sir Lewis's fashion choices this weekend, I don't know if you were aware of those.

[22:19] David Gould: I wasn't watching everything.

[22:21] Chuck Hayes: I don't think they're exactly yacht wear. I don't know if you see that down in Newport beach or Newport, Rhode island but man, whoever his tailor is, you know they always have a, a guy who's like a man Friday that lays out the guy's clothes.

[22:35] David Gould: Your valet.

[22:35] Chuck Hayes: There you go. So we'll come back from this break. We're going to box, box, box a little bit. You'll reflect upon Louis's valet and how he dresses for the occasion or maybe the occasions dressing for him. Now after the Met gala we're going to talk a little bit about Barcelona and, and how that goes because right away Monaco is going to be erased from the rear view mirror. We're going to be looking out at Barcelona, the first of two races in Spain this year. Kind of usual. Chuck Hayes with David Gould. Follow us at lvchecker Flag. Add ELV Checker flag. We're going to pick up some fresh Pirelli Zoom Talk. Formula One. Foreign. Welcome back. Segment three, checkered flag report. Chuck Hayes with David Gould. We're talking Formula One. We want to thank our presenting sponsor, Chavez Realty Development, apartments, business affairs, real estate assessment. 626-4401545. That's 626-4401545 for Chavez Realty Development. Okay, David, we're headed to Barcelona and round seven Barcelona. 66 laps, 2.89 mile track. Supposed to be very quick. 190.908 miles. Max Verstappen, his first win in 2016 as an 18 year old. That was Max's first win. That was 10 years ago.

[24:58] David Gould: Wow.

[24:58] Chuck Hayes: Sir Lewis, six wins. 2014-2017-2018-2019, 20, 20, 2021. We have Max with four wins. They didn't race last year, so yeah, he's last win was in 24. And then the Spaniard Fernando Alonso. How about these numbers, 2006 and 2013, that's a long, long time. They've been racing in Spain since 1951 when Juan Fangio, driving an Alfa Romeo, won that first initial race in in Spain. And they've been racing at this track in Barcelona since 1991. All right, so we always talk about mindset and we talk about where things are at. I would imagine right now that Hamilton feels pretty good about where he's at. Interesting dynamics in regards to his season, bringing his mom to Montreal. Very relaxed there. When he won second place, he was waving the trophy like he was an 8 year old at an AYSO soccer tournament. I mean he was really excited.

[26:09] David Gould: Yeah.

[26:09] Chuck Hayes: And then he happened to dump champagne over his current girlfriend.

[26:13] David Gould: Oh, no.

[26:14] Chuck Hayes: And really, you know, and I don't think it was Kimmy, it was Lewis that did that. So.

[26:18] David Gould: Yeah.

[26:19] Chuck Hayes: Oh no. Yeah, yeah, it was him.

[26:20] David Gould: Oh, he was shooting it out into the, into the audience.

[26:23] Chuck Hayes: It was like a Prince concert. You know, he just let it go and.

[26:26] David Gould: Oh, he'll pay for that.

[26:27] Chuck Hayes: There you go. I don't know.

[26:28] David Gould: Hope he didn't touch the hair maybe.

[26:30] Chuck Hayes: Well, umbrella guy got there. Well, the question is, is that guy going to have a regular tour to force? Will we? Question is, can we get a picture in Vegas of you and the umbrella guy? That'll be my goal for the year. But think about that will be the ultimate.

[26:44] David Gould: You're there, the weather's beautiful, but you got to have a guy walking around with an umbrella just in case.

[26:50] Chuck Hayes: Just in case the champagne Flo.

[26:51] David Gould: I mean, just unbelievable.

[26:53] Chuck Hayes: All right, so when I mentioned that we talk about Lewis and what's next, we're not ignoring Max. He had his first win there 10 years ago. Very exciting. But David Lewis Hamilton, wherever he lives in his palatial existence, doesn't have one trophy room. He's got trophy rooms for every race on the circuit.

[27:21] David Gould: Oh, yeah.

[27:22] Chuck Hayes: Because they're just too many.

[27:23] David Gould: Yeah.

[27:24] Chuck Hayes: And so when I say that, do you see a difference in him? Remember last year his dog died and everybody was bummed out and he was bummed out. And we went through dog, dog gate, if you will, and how that went. You're not, you're not laughing at the dog.

[27:41] David Gould: I'm just laughing because I'm thinking about Max.

[27:43] Chuck Hayes: Yeah, but it's real though. Max is just looking at this is like, what is that dog doing here again?

[27:48] David Gould: Yeah, yeah. Well, he's dead. Okay, let's eat him.

[27:52] Chuck Hayes: For all you people out there who are involved with PETA, we do not stuffed animals.

[27:57] David Gould: We do not recommend this.

[27:59] Chuck Hayes: Exactly the relaxation that he has now.

[28:03] David Gould: Yeah.

[28:04] Chuck Hayes: I could see him pulling it off this weekend in Barcelona.

[28:08] David Gould: Oh, yeah.

[28:08] Chuck Hayes: And I think Kimmy Antonelli, for whatever reason, pressure wise internally.

[28:15] David Gould: Yeah.

[28:15] Chuck Hayes: Externally, Ferrari, McLaren, Ferrari, Mercedes, you know, it's, it's a battle and we haven't even really said, oh, Isaac Hajar, Max Verstappen, they're the guys to watch.

[28:28] David Gould: Yeah.

[28:29] Chuck Hayes: Because right now you've got McLaren and they're just all wound up and tight. Lando not having a great year.

[28:36] David Gould: Right.

[28:36] Chuck Hayes: Oscar Piastri, you know, had a, had a good finish in, in, in, in Monaco, but you know, it was fifth. I mean and they're used to running one, two. So from your standpoint. And then let's give some credit to the racing bulls. Let's look at, at Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad. Yeah, they're competitive.

[28:58] David Gould: Oh yeah, they're really.

[29:00] Chuck Hayes: And they're Chargers.

[29:01] David Gould: Yeah. I think Lynnblad had to you say, okay, you're behind me now. Yeah, I mean, I love the spirit. They weren't playing, they weren't playing team ball, I'll tell you that.

[29:09] Chuck Hayes: And you know, I think the probably the greatest thing is that we're racing bulls for the longest time. We're back behind Cadillac and Aston Martin now are having to deal with racing bulls at a level that they didn't think they were going to have to deal with.

[29:26] David Gould: No, I'm sure that, look, Cadillac's doing the best they can. They. They are brand new to this whole thing, and there's a certain amount of seasoning, a certain amount of nuance that you don't have. No matter how state of the art your equipment is, you have to have the right guys. And I think they do. They do have experienced drivers. Was it Border? Not.

[29:48] Chuck Hayes: No. We got Valtteri boat. Yeah.

[29:50] David Gould: Bodas. Okay. We've got Sergio and Sergio Perez and Checo. So they've got the experience there. So just because it's not performing has nothing to do with. With. With the drivers, I don't think. But the other. The other issue is that now Kimmy got into a bit of trouble because he jumped into the bay and he hadn't cleaned his room. His mom called, said, listen, he hasn't cleaned his room. I want him home immediately. He cleans his room or no dessert. He doesn't get his dessert.

[30:17] Chuck Hayes: Chuck Hayes with David go. We're talking F1. And, you know, the fact that a kid has won five in a row and he's still living in his own room, you know, amazing. The trophy room is getting a little crowded here.

[30:28] David Gould: Yeah.

[30:28] Chuck Hayes: All right, let's not to be. Glasses. Half.

[30:32] David Gould: Yes.

[30:33] Chuck Hayes: Empty.

[30:33] David Gould: Right.

[30:34] Chuck Hayes: But this is the empty part of the program here.

[30:36] David Gould: Right? Right.

[30:37] Chuck Hayes: Lance stroll is 22nd. No points for Aston Martin. Sergio Perez, Cadillac, no points, 20. Valerie Botas, Cadillac 0. 19th, Nico Hulkenberg, and he joins the 0.0 group. Fernando Alonso 18th with 1 point. Aston Martin, Gabriel Bortoletto, Audi 2.17. Esteban Ocon, 16 with Haas 3 points. Alexander Albon Williams 5 points, 15. The guy that really is looking and maybe that second seat at McLaren ever opened up.

[31:15] David Gould: Yep.

[31:16] Chuck Hayes: Carlos Signs Jr. Might be a nice little addition to that team. Not that Williams would want to lose them, but he's sitting there at six. Six points. At 14th, Arvid Lindblad, Racing Bulls with 13. Franco Colapinto, Alpine 12th with 15. Ollie Bierman Haas with A Great Year.

[31:36] David Gould: Yeah.

[31:36] Chuck Hayes: 11th with 18. And then Pierre Gasly from Alpine with 26 at 10. Liam Lawson at ninth with 26. Racing Bulls. Isaac Hajar with Red Bull racing 29 at eighth. And then we have Max Lando, Oscar Charles, George Lewis, and Kimmy as we go up the. The deal. So you hear a lot about this on the European part of this leg. We're getting into race number seven of. Of what was supposed to be 24. You know, they, they reduced it by two because of the Middle Eastern races that were eliminated early on and they will not go back there, but they're going to go back there earlier next year. We're hearing talk about maybe seats being changed and how it goes. So I want you to really kind of take me through the mindset after watching Drive for to Survive and seeing how, you know, Liam Lawson was handled when he had the ride with Max and he ended up having to go down to racing bulls and now he's sitting there at nine.

[32:43] David Gould: Yeah.

[32:44] Chuck Hayes: Do you think he wants to get out of there now or do you think. You know, when you look around, I mean, obviously Antonelli's success is really pushing where George Russell might be. I think that is the. If you're out there and you're looking at performance and if Max doesn't want to be there.

[33:06] David Gould: Yeah.

[33:06] Chuck Hayes: Is George Russell the number one ride for, for Red Bull or would it be a guy like Carlos Sides? What do you. What do you think if you're Red Bull?

[33:14] David Gould: First of all, I hope that Max does not retire. I mean, he may because. And, and he'd be well within his rights to do so. I hope he does not. The other thing about with the, the Red Bull racing, it's nice to see because it. No one, no one anticipated it. So it really, as far as a storyline goes, it. It mixes things up.

[33:35] Chuck Hayes: Chuck Hayes with David Golden. We're talking Formula One. And all these little insights are reason why you as a listener can get on board because you don't have to just root for the winning team. That's cool. You want to jump on that bandwagon, There's a lot of room because Antonelli's young. He has even full finished two full seasons. If you love Ferrari and all you can get is a. Is like a Ferrari keychain like myself.

[34:03] David Gould: Right.

[34:03] Chuck Hayes: And you want to be a fan of that, you can say, okay, there's some drama in between with Sir Lewis and Charles LeClaire. And Charles was seen as the guy when they moved that seat for Carlos Science to bring Hamilton in. Charles is like, I'm the guy still. I'm. I'm the lead guy in the Ferrari.

[34:22] David Gould: Well, especially after the last several years.

[34:25] Chuck Hayes: Exactly. Exactly. Right. And then you have the, the twins, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, who last year just set the world on fire.

[34:36] David Gould: Yeah.

[34:36] Chuck Hayes: And basically put it to Max every week that they could as a, as a tag team. And the biggest question that they had it at McLaren was, hey, let's not screw it up, guys. Let's make sure we finish and blow the rest of the field away.

[34:51] David Gould: And nobody knows why. I mean, just that they can't tie their shoelaces all of a sudden. I don't understand.

[34:56] Chuck Hayes: And again, you're a power of positive thinking guy. Can you see Lando Norris looking in his mirror? I am the world champion. I am the world champion. You know, it reminds me of. Of, you know, the next thing, you know, and he could do it with me. I'd love to do it, Lando. Give me a call. Go walk on the coals of the Tony Robbins motivational deal to rebuild your. Your esteem, you know?

[35:18] David Gould: Yeah.

[35:19] Chuck Hayes: And then, of course, we have what is the Red Bull story? And how a guy like Isaac Hajar standing on that podium in Monaco.

[35:30] David Gould: Yeah.

[35:30] Chuck Hayes: And watching his guy not be able to have success in his car. Max Verstappen. And go, you know what? I made it. I made it today. I'm there. And of course, the picture that was of Kimmy and Max and Lewis in Montreal that said, this is the past, the present, and the future of F1, right. All rolled up into one. So Chuck Hayes with David Gould. David, take us into this break with what we're looking at in Spain of maybe a podium real quick.

[36:01] David Gould: Real quick. I'd say that we're gonna probably, you know, now I can't go against Kimmy. I'll say Kimmy. Kimmy will be on the podium. I think. I think we're gonna see Lewis Hamilton continue. And I'm gonna take a wild one and say that Isaac Hadjar comes up.

[36:16] Chuck Hayes: Chuck Hayes with David Ghoul. Stay tuned with us where box, box, box will come back, and we'll finish up strong. Welcome back. Checkered flag report. Chuck Hayes with David Gould. We want to thank our presenting sponsor, Chavez Realty development apartments, business affairs, real estate assessment. That's 626-4401, 5456-264-401-5545. Okay, David, so we're now going to Barcelona the weekend of June 14, and then after that, we have a couple weeks off, and then we go to Spielberg in Austria. And then we come back on 4th of July weekend for what we have is really a unique event. Silverstone in Great Britain. Always an exciting, exciting endeavor. Great stop. Then we go to Spa in Belgium on July 19th. Then we go to Budapest, Budapest, Hungary, on Sunday, July 26th. Then Zandvoord in the Netherlands, August 23rd. So you see, you got a little bit of a break that European Break between Hungary and Netherlands. Then we come back Labor Day weekend. It's Italy, it's Monza, it's the great Ferrari story. Then we go back to Spain on September 13, then Baku on September 24, then Singapore on October 11, and then Austin, Texas, United States of America, October 25. So, David, when I look at Cadillac and I see Valtteri Botox and not to pick on Valtteri.

[39:03] David Gould: Yeah.

[39:03] Chuck Hayes: But why not an American driver on a company like Cadillac when you've got such a strong lead in Sergio Perez? Wouldn't it be beneficial to their program if Botas maybe was the test driver?

[39:20] David Gould: No, I think that the problem with getting an American driver is they do not have good drivers in the pipeline. There was talk of a certain driver who's driving an F2, but he's not doing well. He's very inconsistent. And I think that's the biggest problem is that we need an entire team of people in the pipeline doing different races, doing indie, doing. Well, Indy's got Americans in it, but doing F2 and F1 or F2 and F3 in order to create that pipeline. And something to choose from because otherwise it's. It's just like it's here or there. And unless that person's just like blowing it off the map, they're no good.

[39:57] Chuck Hayes: And so then the discussion looks at Kimmy and having him skipped F2 immediately. Being a CART guy.

[40:06] David Gould: Right.

[40:07] Chuck Hayes: What makes you think, and I'm not saying you personally. What makes the world think that all those United States drivers are driving indie style cars. One of those couldn't step in. Into an F1 ride and be as competitive in the Cadillac as Valtteri Botas. I guess that would be my. I'm saying as a marketer.

[40:27] David Gould: Sure.

[40:28] Chuck Hayes: As a brander. And again, I know you hate hearing that about competition.

[40:32] David Gould: Sure.

[40:32] Chuck Hayes: Because should be the best talent.

[40:34] David Gould: Right.

[40:34] Chuck Hayes: But sometimes you need the package. It's kind of. That's where it's at. But I. Would it matter? Again, the $64 million question. Would there be more interest in F1 in America if there was an American driver at the next level?

[40:52] David Gould: Well, if you think about the band or the span that F1 covers geographically. Okay. And we keep thinking in America, oh yeah, we're the greatest. We've got all the money. We've got this, we've got that. But the reality is that it's a huge worldwide sport and we're just part of it. Even though we have three races here, that we're just part of that package. And you Got to wonder if that's going to. If that's going to translate. You know, an American driver is going to translate overseas, as in the Middle east, in Europe and all these other places, because it is a marketing thing.

[41:28] Chuck Hayes: So when we come back from Austin, we're going to go down Mexico way, Mexico City. And that's going to be the return Sergio Perez.

[41:34] David Gould: Yeah, check out.

[41:35] Chuck Hayes: It's going to be huge.

[41:36] David Gould: That'd be great.

[41:37] Chuck Hayes: Then they go to Brazil and then they come back on that Saturday night at Las Vegas on November 21, and then on the 29th at Qatar. And then they wrapped the season up December 6, Abu Dhabi. So let me take you through the team standings. Constructors Right now, number one is Mercedes, 244 points, six wins, Ferrari 165. No one else has a win except for Mercedes. McLaren third, 118. Red Bull Racing 72. Alpine 41 Racing Bulls 39. Got to be excitement for those guys going into this in. In Spain. Haas is number seven with 21 points. Williams eighth with 11, Audi ninth with two, Aston Martin with one. And then Catal at number 10. And then Cadillac at 11th, 0.0. All right. I love the fact we talked about Alpine during this. We were excited by the fact that Fernando Alonso scored a point. Yeah, he's getting ready to go back to Spain. So that's going to be a huge storyline. We love that Isaac Hajar is doing well at Red Bull. So we have to think that Max and Lewis, along with the McLarens and then Charles Leclair are going to be pushing harder than we've seen. And is it possible to do that? This is a lot faster track, David. They're going to go hard and they're going to go fast, and Antonelli's smooth, but he's going to get pushed this weekend.

[43:13] David Gould: Well, he's already proven that he can, you know, go elbows out with his own teammate, and he was. They were racing hard, man. So I don't think he's going to have a problem keeping up there.

[43:24] Chuck Hayes: We want to thank Chavez Realty development and coach Harvey Hyde for all the support. David, always great. We're going to come back and talk about a race next week. Join us at LV checker flag, at LVchucker flag, and we'll be with you next week.
