Four E's of Core Resonance
===
[00:00:00] Welcome back to Own Your Impact. Today, we are going to explore something that has been brewing in my thinking for the last few weeks. Something that started as a simple realization and now has completely transformed the way I teach Core Resonance, which is the center of everything I do. So now, if you've been following this podcast from the beginning, you might remember back in episode two
[00:00:23] where I introduced the formula for core resonance, which is your essence, who you are multiplied by your expression, and that's what equals your resonant impact. It was clean, it was memorable, and for a while it felt like everything I needed to teach about finding your authentic voice. But here's what I've discovered, working with experts in my one-on-one consulting and in my resident thought leadership lab.
[00:00:49] Sometimes what looks elegantly simple on paper is actually too simple for real world transformation, and that's what we want is transformation. That [00:01:00] multiplication formula wasn't wrong, but it was incomplete. So today I'm sharing why I evolved from that formula to what I now call the four E's of core resonance and how this expansion can give you the scaffolding you need to build thought leadership.
[00:01:14] Or authority that feels authentically sustainable. If you've been struggling to make that original formula stick, or if you felt like you've been missing pieces as you've been trying to develop your authentic voice, I hope this episode will show you exactly what those missing pieces are, and how to use them as your foundation.
[00:01:32] Over the summer, I worked with seven brilliant experts in my first iteration of the resident thought leadership lab and kept seeing the same patterns emerge again and again. People would get excited about essence and expression and they would have some initial clarity, but then they would hit a wall.
[00:01:50] As we worked through it, it was really clear. People could see what their essence was and, and I feel like this is, you know, this is who you are, how you're wired. We take working genius. We take a [00:02:00] couple of assessments and show what your essence is. It's kinda like being a soprano or an alto. It's just who you are and how you're wired.
[00:02:08] And then we had the archetypes to work with, and that had to do with expression, and it really came. To the forefront when I realized which pieces were missing, your expression and embodying, walking your talk. We talk about, we talked about those things, but they weren't part of the formulas.
[00:02:26] It was really hard to track them, to account for them and, and that's when I realized this formula was showing us what the core resonance create, but it wasn't showing us a full picture on how to develop. It needed more structure, it needed more scaffolding, more ways to take action. So. Here's what was missing originally.
[00:02:44] Building authentic authority isn't just about knowing who you are and how you express yourself. It's the intersection of these four dynamic elements that feed each other and strengthen each other over time. In fact, I talk a lot with clients that when you feel stuck, where you need to come back to is [00:03:00] these four Es.
[00:03:01] So if you think of it this way. If I told you that a tree equals roots times visible growth, that multiplication would be mathematically accurate. But if you wanted to actually grow a thriving tree, you would need to understand the different types of roots, how they connect to the trunk, how canopy systems work and how all these elements change seasonally.
[00:03:19] And that's what happened with core resonance, the formula was accurate. It just wasn't actionable enough. So here's how I teach it now. Four interconnected elements that create your authentic voice, the authenticity of who you are when they align. So your essence, that's how you're wired. This is, something we uncover with assessments.
[00:03:39] Usually it's your working genius. Your YOS profile is another test I have. Folks, take your natural patterns of creating value if you have other assessments that you've taken, like StrengthFinder or if you have an Enneagram number, if you've done human design. All of that goes into essence how you're wired.
[00:03:57] It's understanding not just what you're good at, but what [00:04:00] energizes you, what drains you, your core motivations, the way your energy works when you're operating in your zone of genius. And by using these assessments, we try to really dial into what your zone of genius is without asking you a bunch of questions that are hard to answer.
[00:04:15] , And like I said previously, it's, it's just who you are. If I was teaching singing lessons, the first thing I would wanna know is, what is your range? Are you a soprano or an alto? And so much of that has to do with your. Anatomy, how, how long your vocal cords are. It just is what it is, and we need to know how you are constructed, how you are wired so that we can set you up for success in the best way possible.
[00:04:39] So that's your essence. That's the first E. Your second E is your experience. This is your lived wisdom. This is your hero's journey, the transformation you've walked through. That creates your empathy, your authority, not just the things that you've learned, but how your challenges have become the mess that has become your message or.
[00:04:58] I usually say the mess [00:05:00] that has become your medicine, the medicine that you share with others so that they too can be cured. That experience includes the specific wisdom that you've earned so that you can teach others the credibility that comes from having been where your audience really wants to go, and.
[00:05:17] Owning that, whether you talk about it a lot or not, everything that you teach, everything that you want to share is rooted in that wisdom, that lived experience. That's the second E. The third E is expression how you naturally communicate. This is where your thought leadership archetype comes in. If you've taken the quiz at macyrobison.com slash quiz, this archetype encompasses not just your communication style.
[00:05:44] But it has an impact on potentially preferred platforms and formats, knowing whether you like speaking, writing, how you drive transformation. It's not just how you share ideas, it's how you naturally process them, how you develop them. That archetype [00:06:00] test can tell us a lot when we get into sessions together to uncover how you naturally communicate so that you are building a core resonance that is so uniquely you.
[00:06:09] And then embodiment is the fourth E, and this is consistent practice. This is what it looks like to take your own medicine because this is the one that is usually missing. I have said all the way through these podcast episodes that you need to walk your talk, but what I'm learning more and more is. That the best way forward is to apply your own medicine.
[00:06:32] If you feel stuck, how are you wired? Go back to your essence. What would you coach someone else to do? That ongoing practice of applying your own frameworks and your own teaching to your own life and challenges is the thing that keeps your authority credible. That's what makes you a trustworthy guide.
[00:06:51] It includes staying internally aligned with who you are and externally consistent in how you show up. That is what [00:07:00] draws people to you. They know they can trust you. They just sense it, and that resonance that you put out, that frequency that comes from you. Is the thing that encourages people to move effortlessly toward you if they're tuned into what you're saying and what you're teaching.
[00:07:15] It's just a lot different than essence time expression. There's a lot more to it. And that element, each of those four elements informs and strengthens the others.
[00:07:25] The four Es together really compound the impact that you can have. Your essence gives you energy and natural authority. But if you don't tap into your experience, you lack the credibility that comes from lived wisdom. Your experience gives you empathy and insights, but without the right expression, mode, without understanding your archetype, those insights stay trapped inside, or you put them out in the wrong way for your alignment and they kind of fall flat.
[00:07:54] Your expression gives you a vehicle for sharing, but without embodying it, people sense that something's [00:08:00] off if you are saying something. Doing another thing. They can tell you're not taking your own medicine and they lean away instead of lean in. But when all four of these ease align, something magical happens, you create what I call exponential resonance impact that extends far beyond your reach because everything about you is congruent.
[00:08:21] It's the crystal clear signal that you're sending out that then other people can amplify. Your voice can echo farther. It's a really. Cool thing to witness when people get all four of these aligned. And what makes this even more practical is the Four E's work, both as a foundation building tool for who you are and what you're trying to build, and a diagnostic tool when things feel stuck.
[00:08:45] When clients tell me they feel stuck in growing their business, I always look at essence first because chances are they are trying to build something that isn't naturally energizing to them. They're stuck doing a lot of [00:09:00] tenacity based tasks when they would be so much better off working with people. , Inventing new ways to grow.
[00:09:07] We want to make sure we're creating from our natural wiring. When they feel like they don't have the authority to teach something, we check their experience. Have they lived this transformation or are they just teaching theory?
[00:09:19] It is certainly okay to be teaching theory, but so much better if we can be teaching from our lived experience. When the message isn't landing with your audience, we check expression. Are you using the wrong format for your natural communication style? Are you doing something outside of your archetype the way you naturally express yourself?
[00:09:40] And when everything feels unsustainable, we check embodiment. Are you applying your own wisdom to your own challenges? Lemme give you a concrete example. I worked with a brilliant thought leader over the summer who had everything in place. They had the book, they had the followers. They had [00:10:00] so many things that were working really well for them, but what they didn't have was embodiment.
[00:10:06] It was missing. As we dug into walking through all of these different pieces in our sessions. It was really kind of tricky to figure out, but what we realized was the thing that they were teaching was not the thing that they were living and people couldn't put their finger on it, but they were leaning away instead of leaning in.
[00:10:28] We never would've uncovered that without looking at core resonance through these four Es. And once we were able to figure out that's what was going on, we were able to take a look at the actual content they were teaching and see the gap between what they were teaching and how they were showing up, how they were showing up with clients, how they were showing up online.
[00:10:47] That little shift has made. All the difference in terms of them being able to build their platform, build their business from there. All four ees needed to be present. They needed [00:11:00] to be accounted for, and they needed to be consistently strengthened.
[00:11:04] And that is the power of these four E's working together. So here's your invitation. This week I want you to do an honest four E'S assessment. Take a look at your essence. What naturally energizes you, what naturally drains you, are you building around your actual strengths, the way you're wired, not the way you wish you were wired, but the way you're actually wired.
[00:11:25] Or are you trying to build around what you think you should be good at or what you want to be good at? We devalue our own strengths all the time, and we forget that the things that come easy to us are things that other people need, want help with. And if we don't own our strengths. If we don't look at the things that we are naturally great at, that we are gifted to be able to do easily, we are leaving a lot of opportunity on the table.
[00:11:52] So look at how you're wired. Look at your strengths. How can you use them more effectively by thinking about what [00:12:00] naturally drains you, what naturally energizes you, and making adjustments in how you show up in your business based on that.
[00:12:07] Then I want you to check your experience. What transformation have you lived through that creates natural empathy for your audience? And then what expertise do you have? What experiences, what earned wisdom do you have that you can share with them that you may not be sharing with them? Sometimes owning that experience, understanding that the mess that you've walked through is the medicine that you have to share.
[00:12:28] Just remembering that can make all the difference. Then or your expression, let's check that third E. How do you naturally think? How do you communicate and are you using platforms and formats that align with your authentic voice? Or are you copying and pasting what you see other people do? Even if you end up, for example, I posted something on LinkedIn today that was just my typed words.
[00:12:53] I tend to have more resonance when I express myself with my voice. But here's what I did. I didn't sit down and type that [00:13:00] post. I spoke it into my notes app. I have a notes app that I use to capture my voice, and I built the post From there, I started with where I was the most resonant, and that is one of the best ways that I can create content for myself.
[00:13:18] I'm trying to align with the way I naturally express myself with the way I'm naturally wired. So look at your expression. If you haven't taken the archetype test, take that and come to one of my free workshops. We can talk through how this expression, how this part of the four E's applies in several different situations that might be holding you back from the results you want in your business.
[00:13:40] And then four, embodiment the fourth E, are you taking your own medicine? Can people see that you're practicing what you preach?
[00:13:49] People can feel when you're taking your own medicine, they. Can sense when you are living what you are teaching they see, even if you're not doing it perfectly, because heaven [00:14:00] knows it's hard to do this perfectly. I have certainly made some mistakes in trying to walk my talk or have gotten sidetracked by other things, but they also can sense that you're doing your best.
[00:14:11] And so if you're doing your best to take your own medicine, if you're doing your best to live what it is you teach, people will grant you a lot of grace. But you need to make sure you're doing everything you can to walk your talk as you're going through the four E's and assessing them in yourself this week.
[00:14:30] Don't judge what you discover. Just notice where the alignment is strong and where it might need some attention. So these four E's are. Revealing how this multiplicative effect acts in practice. It's not completely replacing that original formula, but when this essence experience expression and embodiment align, you get an exponential effect as it relates to your core resonance.
[00:14:55] It's that authentic authority that can't be manufactured or copied, and it just [00:15:00] grows. It's not something that you create from nothing. It's something you uncover, something you develop something you strengthen through the intentional practice of these four elements. Very often it feels like with Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz, you had the power within you all along.
[00:15:15] It's that core resonance. It's those four E's. We're gonna talk a little bit more about the four E's again next week and how to use it as your strategic compass. So we've talked about it as your foundation. It can also be the thing that guides thought leadership decisions that you make, and we'll talk about that more next week.
[00:15:32] So I hope you join me. We wanna help you build a platform, build influence, build impact that feels sustainable and energizing and feels exactly like [00:16:00] [00:17:00] you.
