The Noon Hour Of Madness & Mayhem can be heard live on KBEAR 101 weekdays at 12pm MST. Viktor and Peaches talk about a wide variety of topics depending on the day and you never know what to expect!
[upbeat music] The noon hour of Madness and Mayhem, the podcast.
It's the noon hour of Madness and Mayhem. What up, Peaches?
I think Brian hates me now.
Uh, which one?
The, the g- the homie, our mutual friend Brian.
What'd you do to make him hate you?
Uh-
Showing up at his house all the time?
Yeah, potentially.
Wandering around his neighborhood.
Well, yeah, I, I, I walk his neighborhood quite a lot-
Mm-hmm
... but I don't necessarily bother him. I don't, like, ring the doorbell and go, "Hi, Brian," you know?
Well, you should.
Anything like that.
[laughs] Just start doing that. Pounding on his door.
There was that one time I saw him in the window and I just texted him, "Hey, nice cabinet you're building," but that was about it.
So maybe he's sick of, uh, Peaches peeping. Mm-hmm.
It was just that, I mean, he's right there in the window.
Yeah.
Anybody walking by could see him.
That's true. What else do you think you might have done that would make him hate you?
Well, uh, I decided to walk his neighborhood this past Saturday. I, uh, was oddly motivated, um, for whatever reason, I don't know, but-
Mm-hmm
... I was just... Maybe 'cause I was, like, I was waiting for it to cool down.
[laughs]
The place was roasting.
Keep waiting, Peaches. [laughs]
Yeah, it was, uh, it was 10:40. 10:40 PM when I, uh, when I left my place to drive the 20-minute drive to get to his neighborhood-
Mm-hmm
... 'cause he's on the complete opposite side. Like, he's in the hill in Ammon or whatever.
Mm-hmm.
Let's just give out this full address live on the air.
Yeah, here's where he's at. Go peek through his windows, everybody.
But he has, like, this awesome hill behind his place that I, I, I'll use for cardio, right?
Mm-hmm.
I, I, I normally just walk it, and I, I do the typical walk. It's dark out. I'm already freaked out. You know, I l- I, I have to wait f- till it's pitch black at night for it to be a reasonable temperature.
Yep.
And so I'm kind of, you know, like, scared. I'm, I'm hearing goats. You know, I'm hearing horses, 'cause they-
So it's, like, 11:00 PM.
Yeah, it's, like, 11:00 PM.
You're wandering these people's neighborhood.
There goes Jade again, turning the corner, look- looking at me-
[laughs]
... and then running away.
[laughs] That's right, you git. You git. Um,
Peaches, you should be careful doing that, 'cause people around here, they have, uh, firearms. And if they think that there's a strange, large man-
[laughs]
... roaming the neighborhood-
Wearing a hoodie
... late at night.
[laughs]
You know, especially if you start running.
Well, okay-
'Cause you said you were... You said you normally walk.
I was oddly motivated. For some reason, Saturday night, I was just, not mad, but I was just like, "Let me do this." I was, like, in the w- like, my killer mode. I don't know why. I was like, "Let me just kill this workout real quick." I-
All right, mm.
And so I get to the hill. I was listening to sad songs, of course. You know me.
Yeah.
And then I'm like, "Let me amp it up." I think it was Look to Windward, maybe Adapt-
Oh, you're amping it up with Look to Windward. [laughs]
Well, no, there's that, there's that part. You know, I specifically timed it to where it's like, all right-
Okay, okay
... I'm gonna get to the hill and then Vessel's gonna scream.
No, I don't think it was that song. I think it was Downswing, For What It's Worth.
Hmm.
Maybe that one. The, the-
All right
... it just goes crazy. But anyway, I'm like, "You know what? I'm gonna sprint." I just took off. I looked like the cop from Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs-
[laughs]
... or the guy from Get Out. You know, the one that just... [pants]
[laughs]
And so I'm li- I can't, I'm like, "I can't believe I'm doing this." Like, I just, I just, boom, sprinted up the hill. I get close to the top
and all, and I'm about to pass out. I almost called Brian. [laughs] I was like, "Hey-
"Hey, come get me"
... I'm having a medical emergency on top of this hill."
[laughs]
Uh, everybody in that neighborhood was just hearing... [pants]
[laughs]
The entire time. [laughs]
[laughs] I'm sure I heard a Bigfoot outside, guys.
And it's, it's 11:00 PM. It's pitch black. [pants] [laughs]
Yeah, I'd be calling the cops.
I have no water.
I'd be like, "There's a creep in my neighborhood."
Is there a bear in heat outside?
[laughs]
[laughs]
[laughs]
So y- yeah, l- yeah, I learned not to, not to sprint up the hill. I took a, I sent out a Snapchat to my friends. I was like, "Guys, I can't believe I did it." I'm just drenched in sweat.
[laughs]
It's pitch black. All you can see is my face. Why does this chair just keep getting lower and lower and lower?
Uh-
Did you rig this thing?
No, I haven't touched it. Just the chairs in here get worse all the time. Pretty soon-
But Classy 97 can get new chairs when they ask for them right off the bat.
Ah, 'cause they're classy. They get whatever they want.
They get a new board.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
They have the fanciest board in the building.
Jade and Josh are always going to lunch together. I'm sure Josh is giving him some kind of, uh, th- like, paper, some memo, like, "Hey, we need, we need an, we need an air conditioning v- uh, air units in our-
Yeah
... in our studio. It's getting hot." And pretty soon they'll just rip the one out of here and put it over there.
Probably. Just take it away from us.
That or Jade's gonna stand there with those two giant fig leaves or whatever and start waving th- at, waving them at them during the show.
Y- that wouldn't surprise me at all.
Right.
You know, they'll probably hire people to do it. Sure, Classy.
Sure. All of a sudden, hire East Idaho-
Mm-hmm
... the job of the week.
[laughs]
"I, I'm the, I'm the, I'm the leaf m- leaf, uh... What's it called?"
Leaf flapper. [laughs]
The leaf flapper for Classy 97.
I don't know. The leaf waver.
You'll put that on your resume.
[laughs]
"I got a recommendation from Josh Tyler. He says I do such a great job flapping my leaves for him."
[upbeat music] It's the noon hour of Madness and Mayhem.
I feel like I'm squatting on the floor with how low this chair got.
Yeah, usually I have no problem seeing you over the monitors here, but you, you're, you're halfway there. Can only see the top of your head. Yeah, Peaches is shrinking. You're getting old, man. Going through the old man-
Just close
... shrinking time.
Get down there.
I don't know what he's doing over there. Uh, b- shifting chairs? Musical chairs? All right, Peaches got a new seat. Okay, now I can see your whole big, dumb head. All right.
You're welcome.
[laughs]
Did you see what I sent you on Facebook Messenger earlier this morning?
Ah.
It was posted in some random group, DJ Doing Things or something like that. I don't know why this got added to my Facebook page, but I'm not a part of this group. It just popped up.
I'm getting in here.
The admin of the group
I remember you said ... My Facebook Messenger has been really weird. Like, sometimes I'll get a message, and if it has a link or certain things, if I'm looking at it on PC, like the link you sent me was there at one point. And now, for example, it's gone.
Oh, okay.
Now the link is gone. I know it was something about radio, but let me, let me check my phone and see if it shows up there. I really think Facebook
... You know, they're, they, they must be, uh, firing as many people as the radio business 'cause they've gone really downhill far as how their, uh,
their product works. It's a piece of junk.
Just let me in. Okay, now I got the link on my phone.
DJ Posting Place?
That's, that's the group. Yeah, it has 10,000 members. The admin of the group asked this question, and I want you to see some of these responses. The question is: Do you think it's worth it going into radio broadcasting as a career in 2026?
Yeah. Is it worth pursuing a career in radio broadcasting in 2026? Man.
Look at all the, uh, bitter DJs that got fired [laughs] in that group. "No! I hate media. Lay me off."
[laughs] Well, okay. If my kids were to come to me and be like, "Dad, should I pursue a career in radio?"
I would tell them no as well [laughs] in 2026.
There, there was a job posting-
[laughs]
... that I applied for that, like years ago.
Yeah?
And I saw somebody li- somebody li- the person who got it, uh, got the job pop, like s- popped up on my Facebook feed.
Uh-huh.
He's like, "I'm now the new co-host of B102 point whatever in Jacksonville, Florida."
Okay.
And it's like some like surfer D-bag looking guy. You know?
Okay.
He's probably a nice dude. I'm just making fun of him. I'm, I'm, my apologies, Christian Slater, whatever his name was.
[laughs] Whatever fake name.
Yeah. He's like, "I'm now the co-host," and I almost put an angry react and said, "Up yours," you know? 'Cause he took my position away from me.
Yeah.
I could have lived in Florida, but instead I'm here.
Yeah, you could be down in Florida, enjoying that humidity.
Right.
Oh, yeah.
Being worried about hurricanes all the time.
Exactly.
Living on the edge.
Well, let's see. I, I haven't been to the, uh, radio jobs websites-
Again, I'm-
... in a while
... listeners, I'm joking. There's no need to post on your Facebook, "Peaches, if you don't like Idaho, why don't you just leave?"
Well, Peaches-
There's this one particular guy that keeps like posting that, and I'm sure his Facebook friends love it because I'm not friends with him on Facebook. He just keeps posting about me. I must live in his head rent-free. [laughs]
You could apply to be a morning co-host and content creator at Mix 105.1 in Salt Lake City, Peaches.
That's the station that laid off my friend Erica.
Oh, and they're looking for a younger female co-host. Okay.
Oh, I can, I can apply with the name Peaches. I can pull what Jamie Foxx did back in the day-
Mm-hmm
... and just give out that feminine name.
Yeah.
And then all of a sudden I just pop up.
You should. And just send them the AI picture of Brenda Pear.
Yes. And if they don't hire me, I could say it's a hate crime.
Th- th- that's right. You know? We should be able to get a job too just 'cause you're a young man.
Right.
Doesn't mean you shouldn't be, you know, considered as an o- but you know how morning shows and management, they always want a guy and a girl. You know? It's ju- 'cause it worked for Howard Stern, and so they-
But also-
... so they just can't try anything different
... Howard and Robin are full of opinions. And on Mix 10 whatever-
I know
... in Salt Lake City-
Yeah
... if they were to do a Howard Stern and Robin style show, you could best believe they're not gonna last all that long. I was just talking to my friends on Discord, uh, yesterday as a matter of fact about this kinda thing. Like, what if all of a sudden I just turned into like the Howard Stern style show here on KBEAR? I was like, "Yeah, we got the Whack Packers in studio, we got Beetlejuice."
Yeah.
"We got some, uh, naked people showing up next hour. All right. Hey now." Like what, what, how long would Jade accept that for?
Hmm.
Before my show just mysteriously disappeared. [laughs]
Probably not too long.
[laughs] Kennedy at the front desk is just shocked-
[laughs]
... at who's, who's coming in and out the studio. [laughs]
[laughs] The poor front desk people sometimes with what they have to put up with our listeners.
Like Kennedy's rather, uh, quiet and easygoing, so-
Yeah
... she, I, I feel like, uh, even sometimes Jeff will pick on her too. [laughs]
[laughs]
But he's doing it as a, in a fun way.
Yeah.
There are some KBEAR listeners who get irate that we're not answering the phones here in studio, and so then they'll call the front desk.
Well, I'm not gonna sit in here all day.
Well, that's the thing too. It's like I, I just, I, so I pre-recorded my afternoon show obviously.
Yeah.
And my, the first part of my show I'm talking about if you call the studio and I don't answer, I could be busy.
Mm-hmm.
I could be somewhere else in the building attending-
Yeah
... a meeting of some sort.
Exactly.
Um, I'm not ignoring you.
No.
I, I don't ignore calls.
If we're in here, we'll pick up the phone, but-
So that, that doesn't, that doesn't mean call, uh, call and call and call relentlessly and then message me on Facebook going, "Hey, pick up the phone."
[laughs]
I could be taking a number two. I could be-
Yeah. Or just get to your question in the Facebook message.
Yeah. And also don't call me on Facebook Messenger. I will block you so fast.
Yeah, I've never answered a Facebook Messenger call.
I, I-
I, I don't think I have anyway.
Uh, uh, someone has called me via Snapchat audio before.
It'd have to be someone really cool for me to pick up.
Right.
I'd be like, "Well, well."
Yeah.
"Why, why is Maynard James Keenan calling me?" [laughs]
Dude, if he, if he's on your friends list, I better, I better add him too and start poking him.
K- just poke him relentlessly.
Yeah, poke Maynard. Yeah. [upbeat music]
All right. We got Tweedledee and Tweedledum in here. Hey.
Why would you talk about yourself and Josh like that?
Um- Hey.
[laughs]
How am I involved? Josh has a similar shape.
Oh. Well, yeah.
[laughs]
Tweedledee and Tweedledum are similar heights, similar shape, similar head, baldness.
Jade walks in here and he just goes, "What's up, fat?"
Yeah. "It's time for food. Let's go get some, fat."
And I told you on Friday, I was like, "We gotta plan this."
Yeah.
'Cause you know, someone else or-
Let's plan right now
... I already told Becca-
We're leaving
... come see her at lunch. She's at home.
Ah, you're gonna see Becca every day for lunch. You'll never go with me. Come on, fat.
I, I don't... Where are you going?
Your mom's house. Oh.
There's not gonna be much there, dude.
[laughs]
There's not gonna be much food.
The cabinets are bare.
I think we cleaned out the fridge a few years ago.
That was one of the few times I got to hung out, hang out with Victor was when he needed help m- moving stuff out of his-
Yeah
... aunt and mom's house.
Yes. Yes. "Peaches, come help me move a couch."
Yeah.
[laughs]
[laughs] "So you coming or what, fat?"
Uh, no. No.
All right. Well, then-
I already told you I-
... screw this guy
... I made plans.
[laughs] Bye, fat.
Okay. Well, what-
We're gonna go do it without you.
What about tomorrow?
Uh, uh, tomorrow's too late.
What about tomorrow?
What about tomorrow?
Yeah, let's go tomorrow.
No.
Yeah.
We're going today.
You're probably going somewhere I don't wanna go anyway-
[laughs]
... 'cause you guys have no ethics.
[laughs]
[laughs] I got ethics.
[laughs] Dan has ethics.
That's right. Hungry.
I, I am hungry. That's, that's for sure. Why don't you go eat some salad? [laughs]
[laughs]
Why don't you go get yourself some iceberg lettuce?
I don't, I don't need any help in that area.
[laughs]
I'm a well-oiled machine.
Why don't-
Why don't we all just eat a salad for lunch and see who's the first one to run to the bathroom?
We could all buy lettuce at a different store.
Yes.
[laughs]
We'll find out where the, uh, source is at.
Just a nice head of, uh, iceberg lettuce, and we don't wash it.
I'll make sure it's cleaned for you.
Ugh. [laughs]
I'm sure Andrew's gonna love that, uh, that, that bathroom aftermath-
Oh no [laughs]
... when she walks in there. [laughs]
We'll just do it on the east side or new side of the bathroom.
Oh, yeah, true.
[laughs]
They're used to it.
Well, black sludge, man.
[laughs]
Sounds like it's becoming an epidemic, not, not only in one place but around the country. [laughs] All right. Well, you guys, uh, enjoy your lunch and, uh-
I will. Bye, fat.
See ya, skinny and fat. Hey.
[laughs]
[laughs]
[upbeat music] This is the noon hour of Madness and Mayhem. I'm Victor.
I'm Peaches. Have you ever gotten motion sickness from a video game before?
Uh, playing VR, but I don't know about regular, regular gaming.
I, I bought the game RV There Yet.
RV There Yet.
Yeah. It's a co-op game where you try getting this RV through something, something valley,
and it's quite an obstacle course. It's cartoony. It's derpy. And you guys, uh, your f- you and your friends-
Okay
... have to team up to avoid bears.
Okay.
Uh, you have to avoid crashing the RV. You need to fix the RV with scrap metal. I got bit by a snake at one point 'cause these-
Ooh
... these snakes just randomly pop up. But when you're sitting in the RV in the game and you're moving around, it, uh, my ... For some reason, my brain was like, "Oh, you're moving in a moving RV."
Mm.
And I got real bad motion sickness, and I'm sitting there, and it's hot in my apartment. I'm shirtless.
[laughs]
I know you don't wanna picture that. I, I'm sh- I got the fan, the oscillating fan to my left. I got the window wide open. It's still, like, 80-something degrees. The computer's radiating heat. I'm miserable. I'm dripping sweat. I got my shower towel around my shoulders like I'm a fat guy in a sauna, and I'm wiping my forehead. I'm like, "Zach, I don't think I can handle this anymore." He's like, "Why not?" I'm like, "I'm just getting motion sickness."
[laughs]
"I, I just can't do it." I w- I got naked and went in the shower and just blasted cold water on my head. I had to take a shower break during the middle of a video game.
[laughs] I'm, I'm currently firing up a Facebook Marketplace here. Uh, it's probably a bad time of year to try to find an air conditioner, Peaches, but-
Well, 'cause my windows are all messed up, too, and that's the thing. It's like they're, they're not up and down. They're side to side.
Yeah, you need a floor unit.
And I would, I would have to take the entire screen out of the window, and you know how, with how Idaho weather is.
Mm-hmm.
Especially this week with the supposed thunder and lightning 'cause they're cloud season... It's cloud seeding, Victor. They're altering the weather. That's right.
Oh, no.
I'm putting on the tinfoil hat.
[laughs]
First the lettuce, then the rain. I don't know where I'm going with this.
Yeah.
But anyway, uh, yeah, if the weather gets messed up,
then obviously that cardboard in my window is going to get soaked and just fall through. [laughs]
Yeah. I'm, uh,
sadly not seeing any fantastic deals here, Peaches.
Well, I also can't really buy anything off Facebook Marketplace anyway because they don't accept credit card on there. [laughs]
I know.
And that's all I've been using.
I... There was a guy, he was selling a, uh, a camera, and it was the exact kind of camera I want for my home studio for streaming.
Oh, nice.
And it came with, uh, additional items, like, uh, an additional lens, which was the lens I wanted.
Nice.
I was like, "Wow." But I didn't have the cash, but you, you can link a credit card through Venmo and pay a fee, you know?
Huh.
So I was like, "All right, I can af- afford to pay a little fee, you know, put it on a credit card," 'cause it was a way better deal than buying the camera new.
Right.
Even though it was, like, basically new, but the guy wouldn't take Venmo. I'm like, "Dude, I, I'll give you the money."
Was he, like, 60 years old?
I don't know. I don't know.
I saw some lady in Rexburg. I was gonna drive up there and get this, uh, this framed art piece of a, of a pirate ship with a, with a kraken, I think.
Uh-huh.
And it was a r- and it was a really pretty picture. I'm like, "I need this for whatever," 'cause I'm trying to amp up my apartment.
Mm-hmm.
And it was 40 bucks, but yeah, I couldn't buy it because I didn't have the 40 bucks in my checking account. And I was like, well, and I, I didn't know you could do the whole Venmo th- with a credit card.
Yeah, you just have to pay a fee. I don't remember what it is. It's, like, 1% or 3% or-
Okay
... something. So-
Well, I'm kind of mad that you told me that now 'cause I might just, you know, all of a sudden start buying stuff off Facebook Marketplace.
Yeah. Your, your bank could potentially charge you an additional fee.
Oh, boy.
I, I don't know. It depends on your bank. You'd have to ask them. Um, but yeah, I just pulled it up. He's still selling it. He even dropped the price.
[laughs]
Well, now, it's-
But- [laughs]
... today was payday, so-
Yeah, but you know how my payday goes.
I was gonna say my payday's the same thing. I, I, I, I got excited-
It's just bye bye money
... to pay off the credit card debt. I get excited to, like, "All right, let's do it," [claps] and then now it's all gone.
Yeah, I, uh, I can fire up all the apps on my phone, pay some bills, and then yeah, be broke.
That's, that's the fun part. Yeah.
Yeah. I, I love payday. So, uh, I forgot what we were even talking about at the beginning of this bit.
RV There Yet. I got motion sickness.
Oh, RV There Yet.
I took some Dramamine-
Ah
... and took a nap.
That's what reminded me-
'Cause I couldn't handle it anymore
... Steve.
I, I just logged off. I com- I just turned my computer off. I joined via phone, and Zach's like, "Did you leave the game?" I was like, "Yeah, I'm taking a shower break 'cause I can't, [laughs] I can't handle this anymore."
[laughs] Oh, and that's how I ended up on Facebook Market trying to find an air conditioner for Peaches. So-
You know what? Here's another one of Peaches financial tips. If you can't afford an AC unit and you see one available in somebody's window, rip it out.
[laughs] Just take it.
Take it home.
Take it. [laughs]
Yeah. I'll take Jeff's. I mi- I might go to Jeff's place tonight-
[laughs]
... dairy coat his windows like I talked about before. Smear yogurt all over the outside of his windows, and then be like, "All right, it's cool enough on the inside for Jeff. He doesn't need the AC," and I'll just rip the unit out of his window and take it home for myself. [upbeat music]
