If you are one of the many who have never heard of The Land of Conker, then there are only three things you need to know about the place.
Firstly, it is a very silly place indeed. Secondly, it cannot be found on any map ever printed, as the people of Conker do not believe in maps as how could you ever fit the entire world on a piece of paper and thirdly, they have the most handsome and brave Prince EVER in the history of Princes.
Prince Derring Do was the greatest, most splendiferous, least dull, highest jumping, loudest shouting, fastest running and widest walking Prince that the Land of Conker had ever seen.
It had been Prince Derring-Do that had fought the Incontinent Dragon of Yellow Island with nothing more than a mop and a large pogo stick.
It was Prince Derring Do who had outwitted The Seven Witches Of Ankle Hair with only a potted geranium and a hamster called Barry.
And it was Prince Derring Do himself who had single handedly defeated The Great Giants Of Soggy Bottom in a bottom burping contest.
That’s right, dear listener, Prince Derring Do was amazing and never had a dashingly handsome public figure been so loved by his people.
Yet, there was something about the goodly Prince that even his own people did not know.
For in his private moments, when the endless cheers of the crowds had faded and when even the Prince’s nursie, Porky Fluffpillows was not around, the Prince had a feeling growing inside of him that he could not deny.
Prince Derring-Do was bored.
You see, after having saved countless helpless maidens, having slaughtered countless hideous monsters and having given mouth to mouth resuscitation to an endless variety of goats, the Prince decided that he needed new challenges. So, the very next morning, he gathered the slightly odd and misshapen people of Conker together and made a rather loud and devilishly good looking announcement to them all.
“People of Conker!” He began, “I am sure that you know how much I love you, though you are a simple people who smell funny and are possessed of massively hairy bottoms. But one such as I, so awfully attractive and terribly, terribly brave must answer a calling. It is a calling that comes to me from distant lands and exotic and hereto completely unexplored maidens. So with that, I bid you adieu and hope that you know that one day, I will return to you all and if I do not, (SCREECH) don’t be touching my stuff as I don’t want you getting your ugly all over it.”
(MUTED CHEERS)
Moved as they were by his emotional and touching speech, the incredibly unattractive people of Conker gathered upon the shore to bid goodbye to their beloved Prince as he set sail upon his sturdy vessel, The Sturdy Vessel.
“Goodbye our beautiful Prince!” One cried
“Don’t forget us!” Another hollered.
“We’ll never forget you, handsome man!”
“Do you think he’ll write?” Asked an old gent.
“Don’t think he knows how.” replied another.
And so it was that our hero, Prince Derring Do, set sail across the mighty oceans of the world with nothing but his courage and his Nursie, Porky Fluffpillow to keep him company (“Hello!”).
Off he went in search of adventure! So please join us next time for the next chapter in the adventures of our exciting adventure when we might hear Prince Derring Do say;
“Gosh! I haven’t been that sick since Mother’s last birthday!”
