Full show transcript:
Just the other day, maybe even yesterday, we were talking about deep sea fishing and you were talking about deadliest catch. Yeah. And we haven't watched in quite a while. I really enjoy that show. I do too.
Really, really good. You know Captain Sig Hansen? Yes. He's the captain of the Northwestern, right?
Out of Seattle. So he's had a bunch of health scares lately, which not surprise. I mean, have you seen that guy? He was smoking like crazy on the show. But apparently doctors are telling him he should think about stepping back and maybe retiring. And fans are wondering is Captain Sig Hansen finally ready to retire and he says, no. He just turned 60.
He's survived multiple heart attacks. He says all the talk just makes him want to press on even more. He didn't interview with People Magazine and he said, the more I hear that, the more I kind of want to rebel and not do that.
That sounds like, that sounds like what I know of him.
Yeah, that sounds about right. He has a couple of kids, his daughter Mandy and her husband Clark, who he says are capable of taking over. But for me, that's still kind of an ego thing and I don't want to retire just yet. He's not done. No, he's not done. Yeah. What will retirement look like for Sig if he does retire though? He's been on the sea his whole life.
I don't know. Like, how can you, this is what I always am amazed by people who have jobs that are like really high intense. Yeah.
Like the adrenaline all day. Yeah, anybody that's in the army, anybody that's, you know, got these really intense like, what is, you go from that to like, well, I guess I'll take out the garbage and then I'll, you know, just maybe kick up my feet a bit. So apparently Sig and his wife have begun building an event center in Norway. He said, I don't think I could ever fully retire.
Even if someone else was running the boat, my mind is still active and all I could think about is the weather and where are the crab and I could just not turn it off.
No, it's been his life for a long years. So anyway, kind of surprising.
I'm actually surprised that that show is still on. How many seasons? How many seasons? Yeah. I don't know.
I really love that show. And is Mike Rowe still the host?
Yeah, good questions.
These are all good questions, Josh. It says commentator still Mike Rowe. Season 22.
I always see that too. And there's a new episode today. That feels low. I would have thought that there would be more seasons.
22 seasons. Episode five premieres today.
It came out in 2005.
Yeah. Unreal.
I love that show. We gotta go back and watch that show.
We got a lot of catching up to do because Phil passed away. Like that was years and years and years ago. His son, Josh is still battling all the demons he's had to deal with. There's a lot going on. So anyway, I'm totally getting into it. I really like Deadly's catch. Yeah.
It's awesome. Let's get back into it. Yeah. All right. Maybe. Let's jump back into that sea.
Boat? Get back on the boat? Yeah. All right. Let's go Green Horn. Here's today's show. Hey. Sup. Friday. Yeah. What's up with you? Sup. It's a question. What? I said, hey, you said, what's up? I said, Friday, what's up with you? You said, what's up? That is not an answer.
It seems like a normal conversation.
Seems like another question.
It's Friday. And I'm excited about Friday. I like Friday. Yeah. Because that means Saturday, Sunday.
It's Friday then. It's Saturday, Sunday. What? That's that song. Mm-hmm. With Mufasa. Oh, yeah. He's outside the car. Sing it.
I just did. No, no, no. I wasn't singing.
It's Friday then. It's Saturday, Sunday. What? No. No. You said Monday? Why would he? It's about the weekend. Why would he go? And Monday. And then you'd go, boo.
Well, poor Monday. I feel bad for Monday. Okay.
Okay. You know who hated Mondays? Garfield.
That's right. Garfield did hate Mondays. You know who needs to make a comeback?
Garfield. Garfield. I think they did. Most recently, Chris Pratt was the voice.
That's right. When I said Garfield needed to make a comeback, I didn't mean it.
That was in 2024. That was very recent. That wasn't even like it was that long ago.
It's okay. I don't actually think Garfield needs to make a comeback.
I never saw that newer movie, but it also had Snoop Dogg in it.
I had a Garfield record when I was little. Oh, yeah? And I told the story about how they went camping in Garfield's panther.
Oh, yes. No, I've heard this story. This story is in the archives of the movie. Okay, finish it. And then you were scared. It's scary. But why was it scary? Because he made a crazy roar noise. The panther did. Yeah. That's what I said. He made a crazy roar noise.
I got to find that. I got to find that record somehow some way. I want to listen to that.
Were you writing it down? Yeah. All right. Sounds like a good thing to write down. Find Garfield record.
Camping record. It has to be the camping record. Uh-huh. I couldn't tell you what my record player looked like, but oh, I wish I could. And I wish I still had it.
It was a Jaguar?
A Jaguar? No, I think it was a panther. It could have been a Jaguar.
Garfield in the Ruff. Oh, was that it? Features Garfield, John and Odie going on a camping trip where they face off against an escaped wild cat. Yes. And in parentheses it says a panther.
Yes, that's it.
It's Garfield in the Ruff. Okay, can you buy it? Well, there's a whole video of it. There's a show. Garfield saves John and Odie from a panther. It's a video you can watch on YouTube. Oh. Garfield in the Ruff.
Okay. It's four minutes long?
Uh, 247 for the video. I'm watching this. It was from 1984. I'm watching this. All right, sounds good. Look how your Friday turned around.
My Friday didn't need to be turned around. It was already turned around. This Friday was already smiling. We already turned this Friday upside down. All right. How it was going on with you? Nothing. What record did you have as a kid?
Like I'm seeing this as a show. I'm not seeing this as a vinyl at all. I might have been, my memory might have been. Because it says it was released on VHS, Laserdisc and DVD home video. So you probably saw it on VHS. It's quite possible. Or TV because it was on TV in 1984. It's quite possible.
But then what records did I have? I couldn't tell you. I was three years old in 1984 when this came out. So that would explain why I was so scared.
Of the panther. Because he had a crazy noise.
He did. We're even listening.
We're going to hear it. I'm so excited. Cannot wait. Pins and needles. Good morning to you. Good morning to everybody. Hi. Did you hear the story of Lois and Richard and Nacotra? They're from Staten Island, New York. I did not.
So these guys, they recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. Okay. In a pretty cool way. Here's what they did. They gathered hundreds of their neighbors and they handed out one and a half million dollars in community grants and college scholarships.
That's fantastic. Let me tell you how this all went down. So Lois and Richard, they started their very first business together 50 years ago when they were broke and in their 20s. And since banks wouldn't lend them money, local friends and family stepped up to fund their dream. Which is, I mean, 50 years ago crowdfunding a startup was not as easy as Kickstarter. Right. You know what I mean?
Big, big challenge. Well, so they made it big in the business world and they are spending their golden years paying it forward, which is really cool. So at the ceremony, Lois talked about her husband's generous heart. Richard challenged the room full of local charities, special needs students and other kids to take the money that they were given and create a butterfly effect of good deeds.
Really, really special. Yeah, they gave back one and a half million dollars to the community. That helped them begin their business 50 years ago. It's pretty cool. That's great. I don't know exactly what their business is or was, but they were good at it. And also they did it all on their 47th wedding anniversary.
Aw. Which is pretty impressive. That's so nice. 47 years. I mean, what do we got this year? 21? Yes. 21 next month. Whoa, dude. Yeah. We've been married a long time. 21? Yeah. That's a long time.
A long time.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I was not complaining.
Well, Lois and Richard made it to 47. We'll see how far we get. Yeah, we will. We had a date like that. Hey, that's good news.
Something is happening tomorrow. Uh-huh. What is it? It's a big date that you and I have. Yeah. And everyone else is invited.
Well, how fun is that? I hold here in my hand a stack of free tickets.
Have you not seen the tickets? I have not. Oh, look at these things. Okay, let me look. These are pretty cool. They're all like, ugh, huge. Okay. Aw, nice.
Isn't that fun? So I'm handing those out at the farmer's market and I know it falls tomorrow. So I'm going to be down there. I'll be there in the first half of the morning. So I'll be there from like nine until noon or whatever.
Okay. So you can stop by and you can snag those from me while supplies last. And I'll be set up at the farmer's market. So we'll also be accepting donations for the Snake River Animal Shelter. So if you want to make some donations of, you know, pet foods and things like that to help out the shelter, you can do that at the same time. You don't have to trade pet food for tickets or anything like that. But if you'd like to help out, we'll be collecting food and we'll be handing out prom tickets. That's tomorrow morning. Okay. And then tomorrow night is the 27th annual second chance prom, 8pm to 11 at the waterfront.
Yep. You can come dressed up. You can come as you are. You can come alone. You can bring a date. You can bring a group of people. That's right. We accept everyone how they are.
That's right. And if you happen to be looking for free tickets, which by the way, you can buy your tickets online at klce.com. You can also buy tickets at the door. But if you are looking for free tickets before tomorrow, you want to pick them up today?
Yeah. I know that Black Tie Car Wash on Broadway still has some. Closet Revival is out. They have run out of tickets. And I'm not sure if Mahana Fresh on Utah in Idaho Falls still has tickets as well. But go check there and get some lunch. But Black Tie Car Wash, Mahana Fresh and Closet Revival have all had free tickets.
And thanks to those guys for helping us out with the problem this year. I know the Closet Revival is out, but you can still get free tickets. And if you want to see me at the farmers market, I'll have this stack of tickets with me tomorrow while they last. Hey.
What's up? We have our costumes. You were pretty intense about getting not socks, not quite tights, but something to go in between your shoes and your pants.
Because I have knickers is what they're called. Yeah. And they end just below my knee. And it's been a bit of a challenge to find the right look. I found some stuff online. They arrived yesterday and I looked at them and I went, this is just a tall sock. So I haven't tried them on, but I'm a little frustrated. So I threw them on the bed or whatever. And I went, I'll deal with this later.
I saw them yesterday and every happened to be in the bedroom with me. And she goes, I go, oh, his socks came. And she goes, yeah, look at them. And they have lines.
Yeah, I know. And then she's sort of laughing because we went from store to store to store. And you were like, I don't want lines. And you were excited. You found some online. Yeah. No.
Well, if it has lines when they're on, I'm going to be real upset.
It's funny that you're taking it so seriously.
I get it. You want it to look good. I just want the right look. I get it. I understand. I totally get it. Anyway, it's happening tomorrow. 8 to 11 at the waterfront at Snake River Landing.
It's going to be a lot of fun. All the details and again, ticket information. If you want to buy tickets early or if you want to pay at the door, it's all online. Go to klce.com to get all those details.
You can also get it from our socials at Classy 97 KLCE everywhere, Facebook, Instagram, all that stuff. So we'll see you tomorrow. Yeah, it's going to be fun.
27th annual second chance prom. I worked on the playlist yesterday. I think I got it all done. Ooh. So that'll be fun. That'll be ready to go. I've got more music than I need, which is always good. So I'm over prepared in case I have to, you know, kick something out or whatever.
I can always like the song that you end the night with. The one that's like, get out. It's been super fun, but we're tired.
I didn't really pick a fancy one this year for that. I know. Oh. Last year was the Enchanted Forest and we ended with Taylor Swift Enchanted. So I don't, I don't know what to do for this one. I have several different Regency, you know, style, upbeat, string, pop, whatever mixes in there, but I don't know. I don't know what to end with. We'll have to think about it a little bit. Hit the road, Jack. No. I'm back. That will happen at 11. But, you know, that's hours and hours and hours from now. That's a prama way.
I know. Here we go. I gotta figure out how to do my hair.
You're getting it done today, but you could ask. I could ask. That'd be a good thing to ask. How can I style this?
I have an idea. Do you? I do. Okay. And Emery's going to help me. She's already agreed. I know. Well, see you tomorrow for the second chance. Prama. Josh, I was just reading this thing that says, what was ruined because too many people discovered it. Ah. And there's something on this list that I think you would absolutely agree with. Okay. Can you think of anything? Is it a hobby that you used to enjoy?
It's a hobby I used to enjoy, but I don't.
You still enjoy it, but you don't do it nearly as often as you did.
Are you just talking about geocaching? I am. Yeah. Look, I love that the community grew. What I don't like is when I could get in the weeds about this a little bit, but they decided to make a, like it used to be free to sign up and you could go and you could do the sport and it was great. And then they had like some upgrades that you could have if you paid for an account. And then you can still get a free account. When they started putting out what they call premium caches and only people who have paid memberships can see and hide premium caches, you would think that would mean the quality was going to go up.
But then it was worse than the stuff that you could get for free. And that bummed me out because I mean, I've found over 700. I've hidden two dozen. Like I was very involved in that community heavily. And it's always people that get involved that maybe just don't understand it or haven't been a part of it or whatever to make it a challenge to stick around. Because if you're a diehard and you've been so involved and the quality just keeps diminishing, you get frustrated.
Yeah. And that's what happened. Because you and some of your friends were really good at making puzzles. Oh yeah. And you guys would make it a little bit more challenging to find your geocaches and you guys were really good at it.
I still have stuff out there that people find or don't find. And then you go, it's missing. And I go, look. And I go, no, it's not. You got to learn how to play the game. You're not looking hard enough.
People gave up too easily. Yeah. And that was discouraging for you because you're like, no, it's supposed to be a challenge for you to find this.
But then when people get frustrated and report them as missing or damaged because they can't find it. And then I have to go do maintenance and I look and I go, it's exactly where it is. You need to look harder. And then I update my description and go, it's still there. And they go, no way. There's no way I looked.
And I went, go look again or don't move on. It's always the people that make stuff a challenge because it would be fun. I was going to say thrifting. I think so many people got into it that it's become harder to find the little treasures and the prices at thrift shops have gone way up because of demand.
But I think thrifting comes and goes. Like the popularity of thrifting will be huge for a couple of years and then people will kind of drop off and then it'll come back and then it'll drop off. Like it is definitely a wave. Yeah. Because my sister and I like to thrift and right.
And occasionally you'll find something and you're just blown away.
Oh, and when you find the deal, you're like, this is awesome. Yeah. I love this. There's a lot of things on this list. A lot of people said Etsy.
I would say YouTube as well. Same thing. I think YouTube and I watch a lot of YouTube, but I think over the past even five years, just like the stuff that Mr. Beast and like all of that stuff has just like changed the way people make content for YouTube, where I think it used to be a little bit more amateur and loose and whatever. Like they also changed the way that creators can get paid and all of the requirements and stuff. I just think they and themselves went like, we're an elite group now. I don't like that.
YouTube. Yeah. Yeah. Well, and that's what they're saying about Etsy. It used to be a really good, cool place for people who made handmade crafts or in goods and things. And now it's just like mass produced items. So it's not even like a lot of homemade stuff anymore. I mean, there's a lot of stuff on this list that people are like, yeah, it was ruined because it became too popular. Comic-Con was on here. Oh, sure. Storm chasing Pokemon.
Storm chasing. Oh, Pokemon's been ruined by scalpers. Really? Oh, like the actual cards like scalpers are like very rapidly destroying the that entire community because they're making it inaccessible for regular people because they're trying to money grab and it's terrible.
Quit it, people. Stop ruining stuff. It's just terrible. Did somebody said nature? People with speakers?
Oh, please don't. Please don't.
Leave your music at home.
Nobody wants to hear your music. No one in nature wants to hear your playlist. I go to nature to escape playlists. My entire job is playlists. So the last thing I want to do when I go to escape is hear someone else's poorly curated playlist. Stop it.
The only person who likes your music is you, not even the people in your party.
You want to hear it? Put on the earbuds. I hate that. You go to float and somebody's got their redneck yacht club playing and I go, stop it. I like that song. Yeah, okay.
Then listen to it in earbuds. I know. No one else on the river and here's the thing about floating the river. It's hard to get away from people. You're stuck by them. Or if you pull over because you finally got ahead of them far enough to not hear their speaker, they catch up. Yeah, they do. Take your garbage elsewhere. Whoa.
Okay. We got to bring back. That's a big one. Josh is getting real hot.
Leave your Bluetooth at home.
We're dwelling on too much negativity. We got to bring in this. It's Friday. We got to bring the mood up. We'll talk about something better next break. I promise.
Something happier than people's terrible music.
It's okay, Josh.
Take a breath. Take a walk outside. I'm okay. I'm good. I'll be fine.
It was a big night for me last night. Yeah. Let's talk about it. Okay. What do you want to talk about? Well, tell me about it. Tell me about your big night. I made some art. Yes. And it was showcased in a real life gallery. That's right. And people came to look at it.
That's right. And let's be clear. It's among others.
Yes. It isn't like just a Chantel art show. I was not the only artist. You are just contributing some pieces to an art show. Some high praise on your creations, by the way. Yes.
Good to hear. And it felt real too. Sometimes I think people like to give compliments because it's the right thing to do. But there are people that were kind of, a lot of people surprised by the level of...
The fact that you have talent in your fingers? Like, oh, watch out.
The level of art. A lot of people are like, I didn't know you did that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I do. Emery brought flowers, which was really sweet.
It was very nice. She was like, I want to take her some flowers for the opening. Is that a thing? Can I do that? I said, go for it.
Yeah. That was so nice. It was really sweet. And then at one point, I was talking to you and the kids and I noticed that there were people, strangers, I didn't know them. They were overlooking at my art and they were talking and they were pointing at things. And I went, ooh, I want to know what they're saying. Let's go Eve's Drop. And we walked over there and I went, nope, I can't. I can't do this.
You did. You immediately went, I got to get out of here. And so Emery and I stood around and we listened as people were trying to figure out what certain things were and how it was done and different techniques that you might have used. You have a quilt on display that you finished that you were nervous about getting done in time and it's on display.
It looks great. And they were trying to figure out how different pieces came together. They're like, is that one piece? Is it two rectangles?
Is it three triangles, four triangles? How was that? And they were finally like, we just have to unpick it to find out. And I went, wow, that's a commitment. We're going to unpick this art.
Or they could have asked me, but I ran away.
You did. It was scary to have people looking at something you made and critiquing it kind of and to have people look at your art, something that you made, something that you're proud of and be like, hmm, and they weren't critiquing it in a bad way. But it's scary to be like, oh, are people going to like it?
Are people going to be like, hmm. You just don't know. What a piece of crap.
No, not one single person said that about one single piece of art.
No, because why would they? Those people, they were all lovely.
And now you have art hanging up for a couple of months. They sure do. Where more people are going to come look at it. More people are going to point at it and go, what is that? How does that work? What's that do? I think it's great.
I think it's great too. It was exciting. It's exciting to make art.
Do you want to talk about your mid-show discovery as you were standing across a room looking at your creation? You don't have to. No, yeah, we can. You were standing there and you were squinting at it and then you looked at me and you said, I think I missed a spot. I think I didn't quilt a spot. But you didn't want to go look yourself.
You went, I can't go see if I did. And so I went and checked and Emory and I looked and looked and looked and we're looking at it in detail. And we're like, ah. And then we found a spot that is devoid of quilting.
It's like a six inch by maybe two. The section? Yeah. Not even close. Like a six by two inches.
No. You don't think so? Not even close. It's not even a four by four section. It's very small. It just happens to be just left of center. Yeah.
It is just right there. Yellow. The quilts I've made is a bunch of houses and the one house is yellow. And for some reason that you can tell, I can tell. And now I won't ever be able to not see it.
So I have two questions. Sure. I guess it's one question. No, it's two questions. Are you going to leave it that way after you take it down or are you going to finish it? Uh huh. Yeah. Second question. Can you borrow it over the weekend and fix it and put it back?
I'm not going to borrow it over the weekend to fix it. I actually looked at it last night and I went, what am I going to do? Am I just going to leave it or am I going to go quilt it when it's done with the show? I haven't made a decision yet. Okay. It changes. Part of me is like, oh, of course I'm going to go fix it. And then another part of me is like, no, it's done.
Well, in your, in your description, you talk about making a mistake. And you, you kind of almost challenge people to find it. And I think that's what most people are going to pick out, but that's not the mistake. Nope. But no one knows about the actual mistake because no one knows about what it was quote unquote supposed to look like.
And no one has really even asked about the mistake. No one has ever been like, what skip did you, what step did you skip?
I'm telling you, I, I'm going to, I'm going to guarantee people are looking at that going like, oh, it's the square in the middle. There's a, there's a missing quilt right there. But it's, you know, oh, I found it. Like it's like you think you found the Waldo. It's not the Waldo.
That's the, that's the Wanda. Jokes on you, there are multiple mistakes.
But that's how you know. You saw a thread hanging from it and you went, I got to get up there and get that. And I went, don't do it. It's that's, that is your sweater thread. You pull on that, the whole thing is going, you're going to have a pile of fabric laying there. Leave it. But congratulations. Thanks, Josh. It's a big deal. Super excited for you. Thanks for supporting me. Yeah. Well, you know, you know, sometimes you need it.
I, I praise for, I came after work and I said, Hey buddy, thanks for coming to my art show. And he said, no, it was cool. Yeah.
Look at you.
My kids thought I was cool.
For half a second.
For a minute. I'm going to hold on to it. Okay. Good. I was just watching a video and it is a couple on the date and it's pretty early in their relationship and he has seen her run for the first time. Oh.
And he's like, I don't think I can do this. I don't think I can have, I don't think I can have kids with this woman because she run and it's all just a joke.
She got bad running jeans.
She's got bad running jeans. He's like, I wanted athletic kids, but I don't think I'm going to have them with this woman.
Is he himself's pretty athletic?
I don't know. I don't see him run. I just, but do you see him at all? No. So you have no idea what he even looks like. Correct. Okay. So then it made me wonder, was there ever a time in our relationship when you were like, I mean, I like you and all, but I just don't know if your jeans need to pass. The legacy.
I mean, just last night you tripped over your own shoe and about fell into a pile.
So did you forget? I didn't even trip over my own shoe. They were very tall shoes.
Yeah. As we discussed yesterday, they were four inch, five, six inch tall. Two. Two inches. Herman Munster boots.
I remember yesterday. And yes, the bottom kind of gave way and I went, y'all.
And you about fell in a pile. No. I'm looking at art. I'm standing there and I hear, go, go, go, go. And I turn around and you're like, Oh, I almost fell down, but I caught myself and other people were around wondering if you're okay.
I was like, I'm fine. Please everybody just look away.
You were just standing still and then about fell down. I was just standing still. So was there ever? I mean, just last night, there was a finding sample. It's too late. No kidding. I know what I got myself into. Okay, good. Doesn't mean I like it.
There's pieces that you like, right? Like parts of it that you're like, man, it's all right. The good outweighs the bad. Most days. I always knew my kids weren't going to be athletic. What are you talking about? Because I'm not. So I can't pass that athletic gene.
I ran cross country. Does that count?
I mean, yeah, you're kind of athletic. You're pretty good at stuff. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I'm the one. I am absolutely. I take full credit for bringing it down. I do. If it weren't for me, our kids would be much more athletic. You're athletic.
You're a ballroom dancer.
That doesn't mean you're on a drill team. When I was 12. Yeah. Or younger. And you marched in parades in your drill team. Yeah, I did. Very, very Stephanie Tanner looking situation. And it was great.
And then you got to stop watching my home movies.
And then what else? What other athletic things did you do? You were on a baseball team in college.
I was. Softball team. I was. Absolutely. Right. Did you run those bases? I played. Did I ever even hit to get to a base? Couldn't tell you.
I watched you play kickball a couple summers ago. Kickball. And that was a great time. I had a good laugh.
I'm good at other stuff. Yeah.
No, you kicked that ball and you ran to first base.
I saw it with my own eyes. And who had the most fun? Me.
Watching you. I played kickball.
Dude, we need to get a kickball team. Well, first of all, let's get a kickball league. How do you do that? I got to talk to this. I don't have the free time.
I don't need there, but kickball. Yeah. So I don't want to be in charge. Somebody else has to be in charge.
Somebody make a kickball league and then we'll get a team together. I can't. Here's the thing.
I can't commit. But also the time. I just, it's fine. It's one thing if I'm playing and running in front of people who love and care about me. I can't be running in front of strangers who will just make fun of me. The whole crowd. I know it. And they'll be like, what is wrong with her?
There's nothing wrong with you. I've seen you. I want to see you run at top speed. I've never seen that. Oh, you just wait.
I am waiting. That's what I would like to see. I would like to see you run at top speed.
Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. I'll show it to you. You're going to be worried.
You've worried some eyebrows.
Where's one of those speed limit detectors?
You want to run and see how fast you can run? Yep. How fast do you think you'd get up to?
Five tops. Five tops. Seven, maybe.
Seven miles per hour.
You think that I'm shooting too high? Yeah. Yeah, I do. How fast do you think you can go?
I'm looking really quick to see what the fastest running mile per hour is. The fastest human running speed ever recorded is 27.78 miles per hour by Usain Bolt.
So what do you think I could do? Three miles per hour? Listen.
I think five was pretty good.
Seven's too much.
I think seven might be pushing it.
Like five was pushing it.
No, because you walk somewhere between two, two and a half to three. That's why I feel like you run in full speed, it's closer to five. It's twice your walking speed. How fast do you think you can go? Eight or nine maybe? I know I'm not getting, like how fast is it to run 10 miles per hour? I don't even know.
I'm writing this down. You've said eight or nine. I'm going to say five to seven. We're going to do this.
Average running speed is between six and eight.
Okay, I'm not, I got it. I'm under average. That's why I said you were at five.
And I said I would be somewhere around seven, eight. That feels right.
You said eight, nine. I wrote it down. Okay. You can't take it back.
Nine with some training. Six to eight mile per hour run is about nine to 10 minutes per mile pace. A nine to 10 minute mile.
I have little legs. So it's going to, it takes a lot to power these puppies.
Well, eat some carbs and then go for a run.
Carb loading. Oh man. Have you heard of plop vacations?
Okay, this could mean one of two things. I'm going to guess. This is a vacation where you go plop yourself down and you don't do anything. Yeah, what else could it mean? You know how people throw a dart at a map? I was thinking maybe they put the map on the floor and then they like plop something down on it. Like mashed potatoes or something. I should have led with that one. We're going to plop vacation. No, I figured it's probably where you just go sit and loaf around.
Yeah, you instead of going out and seeing the sites and excursions or an itinerary itinerary, you just sit. Yeah, park your behind down and you sit.
Interesting concept. And that sounds relaxing. Well, here's the thing. Like when I go somewhere, I like to go out and eat. I like to see the sites and try the things and see what the people are like and what the community is about. Like I enjoy that kind of stuff because there's little mini cultures everywhere you go. Right. And so it's always cool to kind of see what's the vibe.
But then you come back and you're exhausted from your vacation and then you have to get back to work and you're like, well, I didn't even get to relax or rest on my vacation because I was so busy.
So where's an ideal place to go and plop the beach? You think so? Yeah. Oh yeah. I disagree. Why? I feel like anywhere coastal is going to be, there's going to be other stuff to do. I feel like if you want to really plop, you got to go somewhere away from all of that. Do you know that I asked
AI the other day to give me an estimate of how much a vacation for four people would be to Costa Rica?
What did it say for how many days?
Well, it gave me a whole rundown on how many days and what kind of excursions. I mean, it was intense. It was a pretty solid, it was about 10 to $15,000.
That's incredible.
That's not. For four people to go to Costa Rica for like five days. What we wanted to do, where we wanted to stay, how long we were going to be there. Right.
You got to go to somewhere like Sedona, Arizona to have a plop.
To a plop? Why there? Because it's real pretty. They have a town, but it's not like hustle bustle. I feel like you got to have something like that where you're just going to go sit and look at the Red Rock Canyon and you're going to have maybe a spa and you might have like a stargazing dome that you're staying in. That feels like a designed to relax vacation.
I agree. I feel like you could do, if you're taking a week long vacation, you wouldn't need to plop the whole week.
No, you're right. I would like a plop weekend.
A couple of days. If you're going on vacation for five days, maybe do all of your excursions for the first three or four and then have that final like the end of the week. Be like, yeah, we've got massages planned. We're just going to hang out. We're going to order DoorDash to the Airbnb or whatever. Have those last days to be like a wind down. That sounds nice, doesn't it?
I mean, look, I'm not mad about it, but if I'm spending the money to go somewhere, I know I get it. I follow you. I just feel like I want to do the stuff. I mean, you saw when we went to New York and Boston, I had all of these things we can do and see and whatever. We did our best, but we were constantly looking at different stuff and checking out shows.
We were exhausted. Do you remember? I have a picture of us leaving and we were just all standing by the door with our bags.
It was also like four in the morning when we had to leave to the airport to fly home. So there was that, but yeah, we were very tired. And I think a lot of people slept the way home.
Or you go on vacation, you do all the things, and then you give yourself a couple of extra days off so that you're just home to kind of just plop.
Yeah, I feel like that's harder though. Why? Because when you're home, you've got all of your stuff to do looking at you. Don't do it. Oh, okay. I'm going to tell you right now. Yeah, right.
I've been doing it all week. Are you crazy? I come home and I look around. I go, somebody should really clean house and then guess what I do? I don't. Fine. It'll be there tomorrow.
You'll find me in the backyard because that's where I exist these days.
Exactly. I was telling someone yesterday, I go, you can't have a nice backyard and a nice house at the same time. Right. You're either cleaning your house or you're cleaning your yard. You can have both. Well, some people do, but we're not those.
They pay for one of the two or both. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They got house cleaners and lawn crews.
I don't have that. I'm house cleaner and lawn crew. Same. We're killing it, Josh. Yeah. Just don't look at my house. Why? Because it's not being killed right now.
It's just fine. I don't know what you're talking about.
Just don't come over. No guests right now. It's just piles. Here's my laundry pile.
Here's the stuff I need to put away pile. Here's the dishes.
The dishes are done because I did them last night. They're done every day.
Every day. Dishes are done every day. I don't know if that's true. Maybe not all of them, but almost all of them are done every single day. Is today the big shopping day?
Today is the big shopping day for our kids.
So our son then today will have a new style. That's what he says. We're going to see it in action.
He reached out to his sister, our daughter, and said, Hey, can you help me with some style? I want to change my style.
Will you come shopping with me? She showed me some pictures that she had sent him. I like where it's has the potential to go. I know. I think it'll look great. Agreed.
Yeah. I mean, there was the opportunity to become like a cyberpunk pirate, but that's fine. Be cool and have a normal style. That's fine. I mean, you know, he could have been a suit and tie guy.
He could have had the heels never be a suit and tie guy.
I don't think you imagine every time you see him suit and tie.
That would be crazy. I wouldn't even know. I know. He took off his glasses yesterday. I didn't even recognize him then.
Who's this new person? I was like, who even are you? Yeah. What other styles could he take on?
I was just watching, you know, how they have like those avant-garde fashion shows.
Okay. Whether they're like the craziest big head pieces. Fashion. Yeah. Huge weird dresses and stuff.
And shoes like the boots on the one person weren't even like, how was that person even walking? Cause it just had like a, so you're thinking it was like a cylinder. Okay. I was like, where even is your foot? His foot was vertical.
Oh, that sounds awful.
It did. It did look awful. So yeah, it could be that. So he could take on that style.
I'm trying to think of some other styles. He could go full on just all basketball jersey, no shirt under just basketball tank top jersey with the, with basketball shorts, the long ones.
What was the pirate thing you said?
Oh, cyberpunk. Cyberpunk pirate. What did I say? Steampunk. Steampunk pirate. You didn't say steampunk. That's what I meant in my head. I might have said cyberpunk, but I meant steampunk.
Is that are people wearing that? Cyberpunk would be more like Tron pirate. What's a Tron pirate? Like imagine Tron with the neon light and stuff, but also a pirate.
Tron the computer race car?
That's right. It's not race cars. It's bikes, but yes. Yeah. Like a Tron.
I don't know what necessarily prompted the style change, but I think they're excited about it.
Like look up steampunk pirate.
I just did. Well, I looked up cyberpunk.
You'll see. It's got, I mean, it's, you know, it's piratey, but it's also like, it's like Wild Wild West, that movie with Will Smith. That's steampunk, but then also pirate. For like, imagine him in that all day.
For an every day. That's what I'm saying.
I'm glad that he's picked at something that's a little bit more typical. Yeah. Yeah.
I mean, no shade to the steampunk pirate people.
No, if you're a steampunk pirate, I see you.
We recognize you. No, he picked something pretty classy, I think. Yeah.
So they're gonna go, man, there's some, this avant garde stuff is so bizarre. I know. Like this guy's wearing 800 scarves, but they're all, uh, they all have hands sewn at the end of the scarves and they're all like stuffed with stuffing. So it looks like he has 600 arms hanging from him. This guy's entire arms look like a little mini accordions. His whole arms stretched out.
I miss watching. I know that there's still, I think there might still be doing seasons of that, but it's not the same. It has to be the original ones, like the first. Oh, Pete is in. Yeah, you get it. No, I get it. Make it work.
Yeah, yeah. Tim Gunn. Yeah. Man, I love watching those. Make it work. Yeah. This woman looks like she's dressed as an avocado.
Hey, I just realized that I, I so, I don't, I've never made clothes before, but I should start making some clothes.
Okay. You've never made any clothing items?
No. So, I mean, I've made some tall clothes
before, but you've never made clothes that you wear? No. Never? No, but I did that in my, uh, it's not called homec, whatever it's called, consumer arts, whatever class in, uh, in high school. We made, uh, boxers. We made pajama pants. We made a windsock. That's not clothes. Well, not the windsock, but I made it.
You, we're going to make some, um, pajama pants for us before. Remember, we had a pattern that we carried around, which just reminded me, you have patterns for dog clothes. Yeah, I don't have time. I knew that. When you bought those, I was like, these are never going to get made.
Well, now you have a project.
Make Luna some dog clothes. No, I'm not making the dog dog clothes. Why? We have the patterns. Maybe that's my new hobby. Make the dog dog clothes. No, I can't. Why? I can't do it. There's some fun stuff in there. What I was saying is, maker cloaks like wishbone.
If somebody, if somebody is out there making scars with hands on them, that you stuff, that's the avant garde. I could make, I could make the craziest kind of clothes.
Whatever's in your imagination.
That's how fashion designers work. That's what fashion design is. Whatever's in your brain, you make it and you put it on a person and then you get a whole show of them and they walk. Yeah, I know. And then you play some cool music and then you have celebrities show up and then boom fashion. Bada bing. That's how I'm going to make it. That's how I'm going to become a fashion designer.
I'm already am. I'm already am.
And a winter. Here I come. What did you say? Oh, you wouldn't get it. You're right. I don't. It was tonight, fire night. Well, last night was supposed to be fire night and at eight o'clock you were like, there was something that we were going to do tonight.
There was something you told me to put on the calendar. What was it? And you went, what was it? We didn't, because we did not put it on the calendar. And so we both kind of forgot about it. But then you were like, oh, I was supposed to start a fire, but now it's dark and I don't want to do it. I just don't want to do it. So is tonight fire night?
I think tonight has to be on the calendar. All right, I will. Because otherwise it's not going to be till like Sunday night. I know. There's a busy Saturday night. There's no time for building fires. No, there is no time to. I'm going to put it on the calendar right now, along with,
um, what other to do's the running. You want to see how fast you can run? Yeah. How am I going to speed you a speed check? Oh, I know. You're a watch. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It'll track your speed. Great. Okay. You're going to put it for a what time? What time?
Yeah. What time do you want to set this date? Whatever.
Fires later. Run can be anytime. Nine? Nine for what? For the run? It's too late. You know my favorite time to be in the backyard is between eight and 10.
That's why it's my backyard time. So start the fire early. Eight? Sure. Okay. Okay. Oh, but we're going to the movie tonight.
Here we go. What time does it? I don't know.
I don't need there. I'm going to put it for eight. At least if we put it on the calendar, then we'll just remember that we have to do it. It doesn't have to be exactly at eight. We'll just remember that we got to do it. Sure thing.
It's fire night. This all stems from a conversation yesterday where you decided that you need to learn some survival skills. And one of those is how to build a fire. And I'm going to teach you a flint and fire tonight.
We were watching a show last night and I related all too well. It was a very complicated task that somebody had to do. And the woman who I relate to very well was like, well, I don't do this. My husband does this kind of stuff. It was a very techy kind of situation. And she was like, I don't even know how to start this project because this is the stuff my husband does. And she said, I am the love and the nurturer and the safety. That's what I bring to the table. He does everything else. And I went, that's exactly my relationship.
I bring the love and nurturing and safety.
And then you do everything else. Yeah.
Tell me about how you bring the safety.
Oh, like emotional safety. What is that? That's just as important as physical safety. Tell me about it. It's nurturing.
That's already been listed. Yeah, I know. But it's part of it where it's like part of it. If you need to cry, you're safe here.
That's part of nurturing. Yeah. That's not safety. That's emotional safety. That's nurturing. Yeah. That's what it is. Well, then why list it twice? Because it sounds like you bring three things when you're actually bringing two, but one of them's named twice. Do you see? Yeah, I see. Well, anyway, tonight, it's on the calendar. Fire. Fire in the backyard in the fire pit.
Should I invite the whole family? You should. Should I put it on the family calendar or just my calendar?
The only one that's going to pay attention is our daughter and she'll be like, cool. Got it. Or she'll say, I don't want to go because I don't want to stink. One or the other.
She'll either be there or won't. If she knows we're running, she'll be there. Okay. She'll say, mom's running.
I'm there. Yeah. You put running and fire? Yes. Okay. Nice. You want to talk about this. I want to talk about this. I saw this yesterday. It is 100% AI. It doesn't exist.
I know. And I realized that. I did my research and I...
And that's what you found out. Yeah. I saw it and I went, there's no way that this can be real. The size of yard you would have to have.
Yeah, but have you seen people's yard?
I understand. And the people that could afford this would certainly have a yard that could accommodate it. But if they can afford
this, they should just put in a real one. It doesn't even matter if I wanted this bad enough. I would accommodate it and I want it bad.
I know you do. It's an inflatable, lazy river. I saw the exact same video and I went, there's no way that's a thing. It's a pretty good... AI is getting stupid.
It is really good. And I don't like it. I don't like it either. Because I watched it inflated and the lady gets her tube and the wave comes in and pushes her around. It looks like a good time. And it's got a little pump that you can keep it moving.
Just in time for summer, they were like, man, look, your own backyard lazy river.
But I don't know who's in charge of this website, but they have done a lot of work to even make it. They go through the pros and cons of it.
They're like, here's the different colors. But did you see the price tag they put on it? No, I just... It's somewhere between 4,500 and eight grand, depending on which site you're looking at.
I didn't see a price at all.
Yeah. Where you can get a big above ground or an on-ground pool for like 300 to $400.
The amount of water... It doesn't matter. Look how much water goes into that thing. I'm like, by the time you filled that thing up, summer would be over. It would take forever. But I'm not kidding when I tell you
that the key to my happiness is a lazy river and a cold diet coke. But I'm going to tell you, listen to me. I'm listening. Your own private lazy river is a different level of crazy.
No, it isn't. How is that crazy? Because owning your own is insane. No, it isn't. Going to the pool and enjoying a lazy river that's overcrowded with a bunch of kids bumping into your tube. Splashing me all around. That's the experience. No, it isn't. No, it isn't.
Fumbling your way in and out of the tube.
No, because I'll tell you why.
Trying to not drown when you're getting out of the lazy river. When it has a little waterfalls coming in and you're pushing people into them and their tube flips over and they almost drown.
That's all part of the game. You do that to me. Right. You want that experience at home? Yeah. I want nobody else around. Yeah. I want to float in my own lazy river with my own little tube with my private diet coke. Yes, thank you.
What's a public diet coke? Because yuck.
Well, they don't let you have snacks in the public lazy river. I would have my tube. I would have a specialized tube with my You'd have a little coke holder? Diet Coke holder.
Yeah. And maybe like a little cooler on the side, like a small mini cooler. For your jerky sticks? For my ice cream. Oh, fat boy. Thank you so much. Would you call me? Gross. Bro, that is living.
Come on. It is something.
I'd be like, I can't come into work today. I'm floating my lazy river.
I know. You were so excited. You in the middle of like out of nowhere went, Josh. And I was like, what? We're going to talk about it. So I knew you were over the moon. But over the course of the past minute and a half, you went, I want to talk about it because you found out it wasn't real.
Crush my dreams.
So it is definitely, I would say, going a little bit viral because a lot of people would like to have their very own inflatable lazy river. It's like a huge search result right now.
I don't want an inflatable one. I just want my own.
Okay, there is a real one. This is what it's actually going to look like. This one fits in a normal sized yard. It is an inflatable lazy river from the Inflatable Island Company. And you can get financing because this one is $4,500. Dude. But this is legit. This is an actual real one. And it's basically a kiddie pool with an island in the middle. There's not a wave maker.
You're going to have to pedal your way around to get yourself going. But that's real. That's what it would actually be. Did you see that one? No. Oh, that one's real. You'll have to tell me. The one that you see in, you know, TikTok and whatever. Not real.
I know. Well, but it's heavily marketed. There was a bunch of Tmoo around the inflatable one.
And I was like, that's not real. It's a real scam.
I just, I want my own lazy river.
It is an absolute must for hot summer days.
Anybody, I could invite friends and family over, but here's the other part. You just have to leave me alone. No splashing alone. Just leave me alone and let me float along in my lazy river. Yeah. That's it.
This thing, I want to bring in a gallons of water. This thing. I'm just looking at it again. Like it inflates. Fine. Cool. Like it's huge.
Look at the yard. It is like, that's gotta be 10, 20, 30, 40, 40 feet long, probably. Where do you store it in the winter? I know. I got fooled by AI. You and everybody else. But I also just really want my own lazy river.
Yeah, with a wave maker.
That's all I want.
Look at the lady. First of all, she's in leggings. She's in like full on like yoga class gear in her tube. Like that should have been the first clue when you went like, she's in it in leggings and she's not wet. Like the water's all weird when the wave hits the floaty. Even like the water coming out of a hose to fill it up is strange. It's a strange video. I just got real excited. I know you did. I heard you. Josh. Would you rather this or that?
Would you rather have your heart broken or break someone's heart? I'm going to be a heartbreaker. Have you ever broken someone's heart? Nothing I'm aware of. Break hearts every day.
That little kid getting poked in the heart. What a sad video that is.
I remember that video. You poked my heart. That's an oldie.
Yeah, it is. I think about that all the time. Do you? Why do you think about it all the time? Sometimes my heart gets poked. Who pokes your heart? Lots of people. Oh, heart poked. I don't know. It's not fun being on the side of the heart broken. That sticks with you. What an awful question. I know. I'm sorry. It's never fun. I can't imagine being a heartbreaker is easy either.
Yeah. Should I pick something more fun?
No, let's go out on this week with a down would you rather. That's good.
Are you going to pick? I would rather, I don't know. I'd rather have my heart broken because. You want to be a victim? I just, it's sad to break somebody's heart. All right. I'm going for something more fun.
Here we go. Let's just start over. Here we go. You say one. No, I don't have one. I'm just going to start over on the previous conversation didn't happen. Okay. So it is time for would you rather this or that.
Okay. Would you rather receive a birthday present from somebody that you don't like or receive a birthday present from someone who dislikes you?
Yeah. Give me that gift.
You're getting a gift either way, but it's a gift from somebody that you don't like or it's a gift from somebody who doesn't like you. But is it a good gift
or is it a prank gift because the person who doesn't like me is going to give me some gag gift as a bullying measure.
You don't know the gift. You've received a gift. Yeah. And it's either from somebody who you don't like or for somebody that doesn't like you.
Do they know I don't like them? Yes. Are they trying to get me to like them? Can't tell. That's what I'm picking that. You don't know. Because they might have done like a big good gift to try to get me in good graces. To win in favor. That's what I'm thinking. I don't, yeah.
I think it has to be, for me, it has to be somebody, I don't know. This is so hard. Somebody that I don't like. Yeah.
And they know. No, you want somebody who doesn't like you.
No, because then I have to pretend and I have to be like, thank you so much.
No, I'm not going to pretend. I'm going to go, well, that's really nice. I don't even like you. You're not ever, you're not going to say that. Kid over yourself. No. No, you're not saying that.
No, but I would be genuinely grateful. And if it was like a really good gift, why don't I like them? Have they wronged me in the past? Yep. They broke your heart. No. No, I don't want that gift. You can have that gift back. All right.
Would you rather this or that? All right. We're kind of getting ready to close out the show. I thought it would be important that we kind of just reiterate exactly what's going on for today and tomorrow in regards to the 27th annual second class prom. It is coming up tomorrow.
Yeah. 8pm to 11 at the waterfront at Snake River Landing. All of these details are at klce.com and on our social pages. So if you need to hear the information again or read it for yourself, you can absolutely do that. There are free tickets available still. You can get them at Blacktide Car Wash on Broadway and Idaho Falls or on the west side of Idaho Falls on your way to basically like Broadway and Belling Road. So if you're headed out of Highway 20 on your way to Arco, you're going to pass right by it. Or if you're making the pit stop, check out Blacktide Car Wash. That is a spot where you can grab free tickets today. Awesome. Do that.
I've heard that it's a really nice place.
It's a luxury thing. I haven't been there, but I've heard it's a pretty nice place. I went over and I did a Facebook live last week with the owner and boy, oh boy. It's a very, very fancy experience. And they have a detail shop.
They're opening as well very soon. So you can, it's very cool. I need a detail. It's very cool. So right there, you've got the car wash and you've got the interior detail shop.
Very cool. Blacktide Car Wash on Broadway, basically Broadway and Belling in Idaho Falls is where you're going to find free tickets to prom. If you want to snag those while they last, get over there today.
Yes. Tomorrow morning, I'm going to be at the Idaho Falls Farmers Market. I'll have a stack of tickets with me so you can stop by, find our booth and you can grab tickets from me there while those supplies last. You can also, while we're at the Farmers Market, you can make a donation to help support the Snake River Animal Shelter. So if you want to drop off some pet food stuff or maybe some cleaning supplies, they need that stuff at the shelter as well, you can drop off those supplies. We'll make sure those get to Snake River Animal Shelter while we're downtown Idaho Falls at the Farmers Market. So stop by and see us there. Make a donation and grab your free tickets. How long are you there at the Farmers Market?
Well, the Farmers Market runs nine to two. We will be there all day. If tickets run out, I only have a small stack. If those tickets run out, we'll be out and then you'll just have to come see us at prom. Right. But I will be there starting at nine. If I have tickets left when I leave around noon or whatever, I'll leave them with peaches. He'll be there.
But your time, you specifically.
I'll be there like nine to noon. Okay. Am I going to be there? You can come and hang out. I'd love to see you.
I never volunteer you for stuff. I know.
But it'd be cool if you were. You can stop by and grab prom tickets at the Idaho Falls Farmers Market and then join us tomorrow night, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., the waterfront at Snake River Landing. I will be there. It's going to be easy to get tickets at the door. If you don't get tickets free ahead of time, you can pre-buy your tickets online right now so you can go to klce.com and you can buy your tickets and just go, yeah, cool. I got tickets. I'm good to go. That's fine too.
Yeah. All of that info at klce.com. Very cool.
All right. It's going to be fun. 27 years. This thing's been going on.
27th annual Classy 97 Second Chance Prom. Isn't that nuts? It's so crazy.
I mean, just look at the posters here. This is your fifth one with me, which is pretty cool. We've gone to prom together. This will be our fifth time. Yeah.
Yeah. Isn't that fun? It is fun. Five proms. Oh, Josh. Yeah.
We'll see you tomorrow night. Thanks for hanging out with us on your Friday. We'll be back on Monday with more fun, exciting show. Absolutely. We'll recap prom for sure, whatever else goes on this weekend. You building a campfire. There's lots of stuff we're going to get up to. We're
going to have to get up to a lot of stuff.
We didn't even get to talk about it. What? I have a corn. You do have a corn. I had a corn. Not on your foot. No, not even on my feet. I have a corn in the garden.
A little corn sprout has popped up. You're very happy. I know. I'm so excited. You made a self-conflict edit.
Yeah, everybody come outside and look at my corn. Anyway, we didn't get to talk about that, but that was very, very exciting. All right, Kate, we'll see you back here on Monday. Have a good day. See you. Bye.
