And here's today's news from Rail Technology Magazine in association with Trans City Rail on Tuesday, 23rd April 2024. Network Rail has delivered a £1,300,000 investment of Platform Works at Givnock and Pollock Shores West stations. The 5 month program at Givnock Station in East Renfrewshire on the East Kilbride to Glasgow line replaced the 153 meter long section of platform 1 that's been in place for over 80 years. Precast units were laid on top of the 85 concrete foundations, which span the platform, and 75% of materials on-site were processed and reused as backfill. Part of the work also involved engineers extending the section to the south end of the platform by 15 meters to improve future signaling in this location.

Construction works to secure the foundation for a key bridge in the h s 2 project have begun following the successful completion of realignment work. Engineers have worked with National Highways to create an island between the two carriageways, which were realigned so a new bridge deck can be built. The work is for the a forty three bridge, which is an 80 kilometer stretch of railway that passes Brackley. Across the route, HS 2 says it's now at peak construction with 28,000 people employed directly and across the UK wide supply chain. And Northern Rail has released its annual fare dodging figures.

With the majority of people paying for their travel, a 1,000,000 of pounds of lost revenue recovered. With statistics coming from the operators, debt recovery, and prosecutions unit, Tickulus Travel only accounted for 3% of the journeys that were undertaken across its network between April 23 March 24. While that figure is the lowest on record, the operator still found itself investigating 57302 reports of attempted fare evasion. These investigations led to 41,922 penalty fare notices and a 172 court sittings, leading to the recovery of almost £4,000,000 of lost revenue for the taxpayer. And that's the latest.
