Facts
Father John Misty – Total Entertainment Forever
- Five years ago today, Father John Misty released the video to this tune.
- The video depicts McCaulay Culkin as a crucefied Kurt Cobain, with Father John Misty dressed as a certain fast food clown whipping Culkin on the cross.
- For those unfamiliar, this is the pseudonym of former Fleet Foxes member Josh Tillman, released on Tillman’s 3rd studio album Pure Comedy, which had dropped earlier that month on the 7th.
- The album is a sweeping on all sorts of themes, notably human evolution and entertainment.
Enengis feat SJU – Night Soup
- Not a lot of info on this artist, who I believe hails from Sweden. I do know the true name is Jonathan Lennerbrant, and Enengis appears courtesy of Swedish boutique label Smuggler Music.
53 Thieves – 3rd Floor
- Interesting quartet here, yes…there’s not 53 members in the group.
- Two of them, the singers and songwriters, are based in the UK while the production half is in the States.
- The crew’s been around for several years now and they just don’t miss, what can I say?
Community Swimming Pool – valentine
- Up to sunny Glasgow with this one, and the latest from Drop favorite Community Swimming Pool, which is a guy called Bmac.
- This is the latest standalone single for the artist in a busy 2022, and there’s more to come. Big up to Bmac for coming on the show & sending out early listen links to his tunes, we’ve built up a great relationship these past few months.
Prateek Kuhad – Favorite Peeps
- This is an artist out of India who back in 2018 came to the world’s attention with probably the best single of that year called Cold/Mess, which was the title track to the album that released a good bit later on.
- Now appearing courtesy of Elektra Records and scoring films in India as well, this is the 2nd single from Kuhad’s upcoming album Like Lovers Do, which drops on May 20.
Andrew Bird – Underlands
- This is another 2nd single from an upcoming album, but the first came with no info, just a stylized sepia grey image to go with it. Well, now we know that Andrew Bird is out with his latest album Inside Problems on June 3rd, and we must say his last two efforts Hark from 2020 which is a great Christmas themed LP, and My Finest Work Yet (which was our 2019 album of the year) are absolutely fantastic if you’ve never checked them in full.

Part 2
The Unlikely Candidates - How I Am
Sub Urban & BENEE- UH OH!
KAYDEN - PULL ME
The Vaccines - Planet of the Youth
lostboy - Maple
The Kooks - 25

Facts

The Unlikely Candidates - How I Am
04.22
The Unlikely Candidates are back with their second single of this year. Now, doing a lil research, I've found we are 5 songs in to their release of their FIRST newest full length album Panther Island. The album is due May 20th, and I can't wait to listen to it!

Sub Urban & BENEE- UH OH!
04.22
Honestly, I would have never imagined a collaboration with these two! Sub Urban is quite far down in the alternative line of music and BENEE, not so much! However, the music itself proves me wrong and the two have killed it. Creepy and mesmerizing music.

KAYDEN - PULL ME
04.22
Releasing a total of four singles this year, KAYDEN is very enthusiastic and dedicated to his music. His most recent Three track single PULL ME includes today's title track, as well as two other single bangers, "RUNAWAY" and "DOESNT COUNT". I'm digging the modern teenage movie score misture indie and dance pop.

The Vaccines - Planet of the Youth
04.08
In a review about their newest EP, Planet of the Youth, the band has said, "Releasing music in a world without gigs felt a little like releasing it into a black hole, so we couldn’t wait to get back into the studio to record an EP of songs we knew we’d be playing live. We can’t wait to hit the road and play them for everybody so that they can all come to life in the ways they were intended to.“

lostboy - Maple
04.13
lostboy is a band from Sheffield that have started releasing music since 2017. Funny enough, the band always features only one person for anytype of publicity, the lead singer Max Clutterback. The artist says, "The songs you hear are written by me for the lads. My ideas and music are core to our sound; it made sense to make my mug core to the way we appeared online as well.""

The Kooks - 25
04.21
The Kooks are back with new music—and more on the way. They have confirmed that their upcoming album 10 Tracks to Echo in the Dark is coming July 22 of this year. Currently they two multi track singles out so you won't have to wait. Out song "25" is the third track of their latest single Beautiful World - Echo in the Dark, Pt. II.

Part 3
SEB - SAVE ME
Glass Animals & Albert Hammond Jr. - I Don't Wanna Talk ( I Just Wanna Dance)
Say Sue Me - To Dream
Girlhouse - cool guy
Hatchie - Sunday Song
Weiland - Dangerous Woman

Facts

SEB - SAVE ME
04.20
Growing up in Chicago – after hopping between New York, Haiti, Oklahoma and Miami – SEB has come a long way from free-styling over beats ripped from the internet with his middle school rap group. His latest work is a Three Act project! Act I gives emphasis of the roaring masculinity how SEB is the man! They can do anything! However, Act II faces some of SEB’s challenges with toxic behaviors and self-doubt, introduced in his newest single “SAVE ME”.

Glass Animals & Albert Hammond Jr. - I Don't Wanna Talk ( I Just Wanna Dance)
04.23
Glass Animals has premiered a new remix of the band’s song “I Don’t Wanna Talk (I Just Wanna Dance)” in collaboration with The Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. In other collaborative Glass Animals happenings, frontman Dave Bayley is co-producing Florence + the Machine‘s upcoming album, Dance Fever, due out May 13.

Say Sue Me - To Dream
04.19
Last month, Say Sue Me announced their new album The Last Thing Left. Today, they’re back with a new single. Say Sue Me explains,“I dreamed that everyone was alive, and I came to think that there might be no end, One day everyone will come back and meet somewhere.” I think that's quite sweet. But also brutal to those hate people.

Girlhouse - cool guy
04.13
It does what soft alt does well - digs into your mind with aesthetic and hits you right in the feels. Adding about the new single, she said, “The term ‘cool guying’ means to acquire a slight amount of clout and become a complete weirdo. I wrote this with my friend Mark Campbell when I was feeling a lil zesty about some of the clouty people in my life. In all seriousness, no shade on them, I just had to figure out if that was of value to me.

Hatchie - Sunday Song
04.22
Hatchie is finally out with their newest album, Giving The World Away! Today's song is the second to last track from her latest release. The song is a relaxing love proposal saying, all I know and need is just you. We eachother differently and we should accept this beautiful coincidence.

Weiland - Dangerous Woman
04.22
Weiland’s second album titled Vices was released on the 22nd of this April. The album was first teased in 2020 with him previewing many tracks that would fail to make the final version of the album."Dangerous Woman" is the 4th track of Vices. I believe this song in particular can bring an upbringing for the artist.

Part 4
Alec Benjamin - Devil Doesn't Bargain
Fontaines D.C. - Jackie Down The Line
Ethel Cain - American Teenager
Hitsujibungaku - Lucky
Milky Chance - Stolen Dance (Acoustic)
Yujihi - Where is blue?

Facts

Alec Benjamin - Devil Doesn't Bargain
04.15
For those who don't know, Alec is back with a new album, (Un)Commentary. This song is supposedly about an abusive relationship. Alec is trying to convince a friend to let go of an abusive guy, but she’s convinced that he’ll change. Alec keeps telling her that he won’t change and that she needs to do what’s best.

Fontaines D.C. - Jackie Down The Line
04.22
On the band’s third album in four years, Skinty Fia, Fontaines D.C. detail what it’s like to be the boys in a not-so-better land, as Irish expats who may share the same skin tone and speak the same language as England’s dominant culture, but who are instantly singled out the moment their accents are revealed in mixed company. 'Jackie Down the line" is the 4th track of the said album.

Ethal Cain - American Teenager
04.21
This is the third and final single from Ethel Cain’s debut album, Preacher’s Daughter due May 12. Ethel said of the song in a statement, "Growing up I was surrounded by visions of NASCAR, rock’n’roll, and being the one who would change everything… . I wrote this song as an expression of my frustration with all the things the ‘American Teenager’ is supposed to be but never had any real chance of becoming.” Thank you?

Hitsujibungaku - Lucky
04.20
"Lucky" is the sixth track of the band's newest album, our hope. The album is filled with gazing indie rock songs for listening pleasure. Personally, growing up listening to American indie music most of my life, it's refreshing to find the familiar sounds from different countries. Quite fun!

Milky Chance - Stolen Dance (Acoustic)
04.21
Milky Chance has given us an entire Acoustic version of their 2013 hit debut album, Sadnecessary. "Stolen Dance" in particular was social hit. The single had reached number one in Austria, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Hungary, additionally it was the most popular track in Poland in 2014. Don't get me started hwo it's done in the US.

Yujihi - Where is blue?
04.18
YUJIHI (유지희), formerly known as Miyu (미유), is a South Korean singer and songwriter. Today's song is the title track to her newest EP, Where is blue?. A commenter has described, "Where is blue? is an album that you want to hug not with compassion but with affection, an album that requires you to keep up with the plot but makes you think of nothing else unnecessary.
