Dave, welcome to another edition of the stand outdoors podcast, the show where faith and the great outdoors come together. I'm Dave Baker along with the founder of the stand outdoors, Mike Hayes, and today we're talking about outfit or experience with special guest. Joey Bobak, Well, Mike, is available to come to your church or Bible study. Is
Speaker 2 0:47
that right? That's right. Dave, yeah, we want to get on the speaking tour. I love to share the gospel and and I love to share it with outdoors man and and we were just at a men's little it was like a mid day, you know, finger food kind of got, you know, get a bunch of guys together, yeah, and, and I was the Speaker, and I just basically shared my testimony, and, and, and then also shared about the stand out doors and how we have this, the Bible studies with the videos, you know, of hunting videos and everything, and so it was incredible. And and the guys were very responsive. I mean, I love to share Christ with outdoors man. So yeah, if you've got sports Ben dinner and you're looking for a speaker, love to do it. You can go to our website, you know, the standout doors.com, and you can, you can look at, I even have a little 32nd promo where I was talking that talks about the Bible studies and that kind of thing. But, yeah, love to do it, so contact us, and we'll be there. It's all
Speaker 1 1:53
there at the stand outdoors.com. Well, you've probably watched these hunting shows and you've seen these hunters tagging these huge deer on these properties that they've never been to before with an outfitter. They've been owned, operated by Outfitters. They do it all across the country, in the world, actually. And these hunting outfitters are simply hunt groups that provide hunters experience they probably couldn't have Mike normally in their in their community or their town, or wherever they live, and so you pay a fee up front. You go a lot of times. They have great sleeping arrangements, great food, and it's just a great experience. And you and Joey. Joey is our special guest today. Joey Bobak,
Speaker 3 2:34
Joe the bow, Joe the bow, thanks for having me. Guys. Good
Speaker 1 2:37
to have you. Joey and you guys went on a hunt together, and we just wanted to make sure we processed a little bit and see what that experience was like, and give people an understanding of how you do it, what you do, and is it worth the money? Because it can be a lot of money. Talk about having a conversation with your wife about where to spend money. There a big one right there. Go into now fitters, because it can be 1000s and 1000s of dollars for you to go shoot something, right? It's like my wife always said, You're gonna blow up how much money in your fireworks? How much you spending on fireworks, you're basically burning money. David, I know, but I love it so much. It's the same idea, although you're getting a lot more return on your investment than just blowing up fireworks. So anyway, Mike, tell us about this experience you and Joey had, where you went, how you did it, the steps to get there, and all that sort of stuff.
Speaker 2 3:27
Yeah. Well, Joey, we do have a lot to talk about when it comes to, you know, guided hunts. Yes, we do. Joey, you and I been together. How long? I mean, isn't
Speaker 3 3:38
1981 I think we've been hunting 81 my first year out of college. That's when I kind of met you, right before that, yeah. And then my dad, your father in law, the four of us decided to, yeah, they work together. They work together. They hunted together. And then we just, the four of us just took off together. Oh, yeah. It just was a long, long it's been
Speaker 2 4:01
and we mostly hunt Pennsylvania. I mean, that's all we did. Hunt upstate Pennsylvania, and then locally, a little bit,
Speaker 3 4:07
well, there's, there's the two types, there's the do it yourself hunters, which we were, we were the do it yourself everything, right? We didn't do any guided hunts. We just did it. And this was archery, mainly archery, mostly all archery and and we never did a guided hunt. We just do it yourself. So we figured we knew everything.
Unknown Speaker 4:26
That was the problem, that was the first Yes.
Speaker 3 4:29
So like, getting to a guided Hunt was pretty interesting, because all that we learned, or years of of hunting, we had to think it through a little bit. We had a lot of lot of prayer
Speaker 1 4:42
guys go about you just go on the internet and pull up hunting in wherever or how did I mean, it might be a little different with you Mike, with relationship with the stand outdoors, but, and you might have gotten this at one of the events you were at, or whatever, but for more, most people, they're going on the internet right to look up where. To go,
Speaker 2 5:00
yeah. And we actually would go to great American Outdoor Show, which was, you know, it's a nine day thing, but we would go, we'd pick out one day, spend the whole day there. And most of the time we were, you know, it's loaded with 1000s of outfitters or vendors are there, and Outfitters, there's hundreds and hundreds of them, you know, right? And so you can see a lot of them. They bring all their pictures. They bring all their, you know, they even have, sometimes they have people that have been on their hunch before, you know. And you can, you know, get a good, get a good feel for it. But,
Speaker 3 5:36
yeah, you just and thing you're looking at. First of all, everybody looks at price first. Obviously, as Dave brought up earlier, price is important, but it's the old saying, Do you get what you pay for, or do you get so that's the first thing to think about, what are we getting for, for our money, right? And where does it fit into how we hunt, too, right? How we like to hunt, right? And what are they going to do as archers? Because they
Speaker 1 5:59
have setups where the deer or they're not caged, but they're there. There's boundaries. They can't go any I don't know what the net they call that.
Speaker 3 6:09
Well, we're more towards the no fence. Yeah, there's a free range, honey. We do. We don't defense. That's what we like. We don't do the high fence. There's no, there's no that's what the no guarantee there either. So there's no guarantee. So we're really trusting, you know, as we trust in the Lord, we're going to trust our outfitter. He knows what he's doing,
Speaker 1 6:31
and you got to know, you got to know what you want to do. Maybe you want to do high fence. There's nothing wrong with high fence hunting. It's just that some pure hunters would rather have nature take its course in any given situation. Now they're taking care of these deer, a lot of them. They're feeding them right, a lot of them, but the hunt itself is a little bit more natural in the no fence situation. Would you? Would you agree with that? Oh yeah, a little more natural, a little more Yeah, like Joey said, it could happen, might not happen,
Speaker 3 7:06
right for you, yeah? Well, the big thing, the big thing, we know that they're trying to manage the age of the herd, right? That's the big thing you try to call in Pennsylvania, we're lucky. We could get a three year old animal, right, right, right? But in these areas, that's the, you know, the goal that they're managing well, they have enough properties, and that they're not over hunting those stands today, having those properties, so allowing those deer to grow. So that's the key, you know, when you're looking at outfit, or what's the age, what's the size, what are they doing? How much property they have? And they usually
Speaker 2 7:38
have antler restrictions, yes, to let them grow bigger, you know. And, you know, talk about one of our first experiences that we had with an outfit or some let's talk about some bad experiences. Then we'll get to the good one. Well,
Speaker 3 7:54
as do it yourself hunters. We figured we know what we were doing. We know how to hunt white tails. Because all over the country, they're kind of they all do the same thing. They bed in the thickets, and they come out in the evenings to feed. They go back in mornings, back to their beds. So as we're talking to our Outfitters, before we even get there, how do you hunt? How do you hunt? Well, you know, we do this, we do that. Then we get to our first outfitter, because we know you're supposed to get behind the deer in the morning so they come back into the woods, so be in the thickets, and in the afternoons, we're supposed to be on the edge of the fields, because they're coming out to the feed. Well, our first experience, I think we, the guys, put us in a pickup truck and drove us right across the open field in the dark, right the dark, and we're going, Oh my goodness. So player kicks pushing all the deer back in the woods. What are they doing? So we had no idea that. So they were gonna do it that way. We're like, oh boy.
Speaker 2 8:54
And then, and then, when you try to talk to him about it, it gets very touchy, you know, yeah, you don't guide the guy. That's one thing we learned. And because it gets them upset, you know. And, and it was like that first, that first trip that we tried. It was, it was, it was pretty bad after we, you know, because we didn't know, you know, we were, well, we can help them out, you know, we'll tell them how we how we should go in and, and here we're getting, giving them this advice. And, and you could tell it just changed from that day on. It was, well, let's just get through this hunt, you know. And so it might have been more our fault, but, yeah,
Speaker 3 9:34
and it's learning. That's our first time. And you know, it's like anything else we we thought we knew after 40 years of hunting, how to hunt whitetails, but you know, that's something we really, really had to think through on our next hunt, you know, the next one we were looking for. What you know, it started raised different questions, asking the guide different ways, and then getting together and before we decide, do we trust that? That this guy knows what he's doing. Then we
Speaker 2 10:03
had one tell him about the one where we had a pretty good experience the one year, remember in New York, then we come back the next year,
Speaker 3 10:12
oh, we had a beautiful house he provided for us. Had the property. We were allowed to bring our three wheelers out there. Was great. Booked it for the following year we get there, doesn't tell us the house isn't available. So okay, we got another place for you. So we drive through this, these woods, and we get to this old farmhouse. He goes, this is yours. We get in there. Half of it's burned out. No heat, nope. No nothing, no hot water. It was gone. And so we're like, okay, and so therefore we had to make a decision, what do we do with this? You know, do we ask for our money back? What do we do? So we we were fortunate, because he had other hunters in different areas, and we kind of confronted him, and I think he
Speaker 2 11:00
realized, oh yeah, it was funny. We we walked right we walked right in. Well, he didn't let us walk in. He had all these clients, and we're coming in, you know, wanting our money back, because those facilities were horrible and and he comes running out with cash for us, you know, because he don't, he don't want anybody to hear about that.
Speaker 1 11:19
So the bottom line is, here, guys, there may be some clunkers. I know we've had, I've had clunkers. We've done gone to places it didn't work out like we thought it was. We didn't do our homework enough. We didn't know what we wanted, didn't know what we were looking at. We got online, we booked a thing, we went, we came back, we went, Well, that was just a waste of time. So that may happen to you? Yeah, it may happen, and it, I think it's a good experience, because I think you learn, like Joey said, you learn then All right, now we know what questions to ask. We know what things to look for, and the next time we'll probably be better. And the next time it was for us as well as you tell us about that. Next time, yeah, when you had good success,
Speaker 2 11:56
we we've been to white tail heaven outfitters for the last three years, one of you, one of our sponsors, right? What's that? That's one of our sponsors. That's right,
Speaker 3 12:07
yeah. And, you know, again, here we are. We're not. We researched a little bit better. We got some personal referrals, things like that. And we realized, okay, all right, we're gonna do this, and we get there. I mean, everything that they said they were, they were the counterparties, the accommodations, the food, they were right on the money. I mean, it was just the experience was so good. The first year, neither one of us shot a deer. We went back to second year, and we had opportunities, yes, yes, we had opportunities, correct? We turned them down, you know, but, and there's annual restrictions, things we want your choice to like. You're looking at an animal you might like, might not like. So there's a choice that's, you know, with free ranging, that's your
Speaker 1 12:54
opportunity. It's your opportunity. It's your choice to make that a moment they're giving you the opportunities. Do you want this? Dear,
Speaker 3 13:00
Yeah, correct. And, you know, coming from Pennsylvania, had pay attention like a deer. That's so So, yeah, for us, right? Not be so so for them. And they're telling us that don't shoot that first one you're not using.
Speaker 1 13:13
That is so true. You know what you're used to seeing? I know West Virginia, for years, we were always shooting little bucks because they were just mountain deer and they were just little. They the horns weren't big. So when you got it, when I came to Pennsylvania, I'm like, Oh, my word. Look at these things. I mean, they were, like, huge deer. But you guys would say, unless that would go another year, like, Mike shows me pictures, like we're gonna wait for next year. Yeah, really, I would take him right now. So I guess you have to think about that when you're in and out. Oh, absolutely,
Speaker 2 13:43
especially because of the penalty they charge you, like, $400 an inch, yikes, yeah, so it can be up to $2,000 if you shoot a smaller buck than 130 class, I believe it is. You know, they has to be minimum 130 class. Now I had one. I mean, every year. Remember the first year I blew it on one because I had this beautiful, probably 150 class deer, and he, he comes walking, and he's standing right in front of me and I, and I don't have an angle, good angle to shoot him, so I'm waiting and waiting. There was only a little, small lane to shoot through, and I know he's going to go toward these dough eventually, because the rut, he's eating corn, though, but I'm sitting there waiting for him. I'm not drawn because, you know, would have been too long. He's he was sitting there for five minutes. He finally makes a move. And I draw and I try to bleed at the same time, I learned something. Then it's hard to bleat when you're drawing. Yes, it is. And and he, and he didn't stop until he passed that opening. So I blew that myself, you know, and I don't know how I would have corrected it, but you know, guys, you should have shot him like when he was facing you. I don't like to make shots like that because, you know, it's very small target, and usually wound them and don't find them, but, and then you had an opportunity.
Speaker 3 14:59
Yeah. And again. And you know you're shooting a vertical bow. You know you got to know your limits too. Now, I've seen deer there were just outside range. I mean, I could have maybe took a shot, but I knew, you know what, that's not my effective range. Now, what do
Speaker 1 15:11
you guys? What do you guys feel comfortable with? Are you 40 yard shooters or 30 yard shooters?
Speaker 3 15:17
30 and I haven't killed anything under over 25 myself, okay, I don't even think I've killed 35 Yeah, vertical bow for me. Just just,
Speaker 1 15:27
I think crossbow guys have a little more faith, yeah? 5040, oh, yeah, even 60 yard shot with those things, because they're so fast, but in a vertical bow situation, yeah, I would probably, I would advise you stay within that 2030, yard range, yeah,
Speaker 3 15:42
for sure, that's where my effective range was, and, and, you know, and I know, as Mike talked earlier about, in other episodes where that practice coming in, you know, practice, practice, practice, right, right. So for that opportunity, and you might only get one, you know, so even so, you know, guided hunt. You might still only get that one opportunity during the week. So
Speaker 1 16:03
do you have a guide with you in in the blind to tell you, yes, no, you have to. We've
Unknown Speaker 16:08
never had that. Okay, now, no,
Speaker 3 16:10
who let us those show us beforehand. This is the size. They'll have racks in. The idea this visual of how big that is, right?
Speaker 2 16:21
But we had opportunities the first two years. You know that there were some big bucks around us, and for one reason or another, we didn't get them, but, but we saw them, they were there, and this is Ohio, and and then tell them about our last year.
Speaker 3 16:39
Well, last year again, high end anticipation again, but it's our third year to without harvesting, but having good experiences again. The food was fantastic. You know, the cooks were great. The camaraderie was fantastic. You gained about 10 pounds. And Mike and I got a great chance of witness to a lot, a lot of guys out there, a lot of hunters that don't know Jesus, you know that we're interested in our third year with the stand outdoors there they're seeing there's now, you know, I'm more comfortable too, with Mike, with filming and doing things and
Speaker 2 17:09
just filming, you know, we're doing all that. We don't have a camera. Man,
Speaker 3 17:12
yeah, so that, that part of it, you know, outside, even the kill, that part of is just awesome, you know, to be able to do that and have that experience, and a great bunch of guys. And the sponsor, you know, Tevis and that group just really trust us,
Speaker 2 17:25
yeah, and they give us great deals, you know, they just want to, they want to help our ministry. They want to help us have great videos and just a neat group of people, but tell them about our hunt.
Speaker 3 17:40
So we got this guy, big Tony. We get to meet him in the beginning. Big Tony. He's our he was our guided time. And I think their motto is what we put clients on giants. Yes, that's their big motto. So big Tony was big Tony, okay, but big giant, he knew his stuff, though he did fantastic tracker, fantastic. Knew the woods and knew where to put us when the put us there, situations where Mike and Al go, you sure you want us to go back in that stand again and we're going look at each other. Our motto to each other, don't guide the guy. Okay. You want to put us there. So a couple days in, right? That's all it was. It was only maybe two days in. Tony says, I was in the stand the night before and I didn't see anything. And Tony goes, Do you got to go back in that same stand in the morning? And I'm not a big fan of hunting a morning stand. And the next day, you know, evening stand, next day in the morning, Tony says, go out in there. Get in that stand. I go, okay, okay, so get up in the morning. I get in that stand. I'm sitting there, and, you know, in my brains going, Okay, this is a neat stand. It's not and it was near the field, near the field, near the field edge, right? So then all of a sudden, I guess about eight o'clock, I'm sitting there, and all of a sudden, this deer pops out of my left 20 yards, 25 yards, and what I was told, you'll know, and that's when the kill. Because it'll just if you know, if you have to think about it, you're not killing it. You didn't. I didn't have to think about this one, this one came out, but I still thought about it, because the back so much money, thinking we have to. So I was blessed that this deer came out, stop, turn his head both ways. So I got to see profile, which was terrific. Love that. And then he walked and stopped again. And now this is my first self film, kill.
Speaker 2 19:34
Yes, was he did an incredible job. I'll tell you what,
Speaker 3 19:38
yeah. So I had it all set up and you know, and then I'm sitting there, and he just profiled me. Walked right, right, profiled 25 yards broadside.
Speaker 2 19:48
I mean, he actually, if you see it on the video, go on, you know, go on YouTube. You can see it. He posed for him before he shot. And he almost pointed to where to shoot. I think. Yeah.
Speaker 3 20:00
Came right, and then he stopped. He looked, turned his head again, away from me, just to give me another profile to make sure, and I didn't. Then he turned, he looked right at me, and I was like, Okay. And he took one step forward, and I was able to get it right behind the shoulders.
Speaker 1 20:15
And that is that that video is at the standout doors.com. If you want to go look at it. Yeah. Check it out.
Speaker 3 20:19
Yeah. So I was excited, my excitement though, you know, if you watch me in the stand there, I you just were so programmed to to be quiet after the shot. It's like, I want to just jump out of my trees. I'm like, he might just be walking there, because it was, you know, and then, like, it was kind of a weird dynamic filming, yeah, filming, and the excitement part, you know. And so, yeah, it was just an awesome experience. And to get it on film for me too, I know it was just a blessing, a total blessing.
Speaker 2 20:59
And then we had another guy that was with us, a friend of ours. He had a shot the same morning at a deer and and we couldn't find his. He hit it low, and we they tracked it for
Speaker 3 21:13
Yeah, tell you about Tony. Tony. There's a guy the guides there too. You know, I'm sure they're all the same, but we tracked this deer for 200 some yards through thick stuff dropped blood after we gave it every effort, and that's wait till heaven. Guys gave it every effort to get it through, get everywhere we went. We tracked this thing through thick, thick Briar and just we also.
Speaker 2 21:37
It was an amazing day, because then Tony, you know, comes to me, and I'm thinking, Tony, it's the same day now, evening hunt, and Joey's relaxing and eating dinner early,
Speaker 1 21:52
but like, Okay, I got my buck. He's not you Mike, but
Unknown Speaker 21:57
I can't let him out. Do me, you know.
Speaker 3 22:01
Now, again, Dave, this was my biggest buck ever today. Yeah, that's
Speaker 2 22:06
exciting. There's nothing better. So I'm talking to Tony, and I say, Well, I guess I'll just go back because I left my camera arm. I left all my equipment in my stand from the morning because I knew I was going back there in the evening, and so I guess I should go back there. And he go, Tony goes. Now there was two big guys over there where Joey was, there's another stand down in the they called it the pumpkin field pumpkin patch. There's natural pumpkins growing. It's funny. And they eat those, and they go, I want you to go down in that stand so you don't guide the guide. I had to go there, borrow Joey's camera.
Speaker 3 22:42
I wasn't sure I wanted to give him the camera. He didn't have his own camera, but I was borrowing his camera to begin with, so I had to give it back to
Speaker 2 22:49
him. So and it wasn't the greatest arm that he was using. He's used to that I'm not I have a better camera arm. So the footage is kind of crazy, but here, here it is, I get a shot at the biggest buck of my life, unbelievable. And he was a big 10 pointer bruiser and and it was just an incredible hunt here, here I get mine. I had to wait overnight because I wasn't sure the shot, but it turned out to be a perfect shot. He was, what? 100 yards, maybe down. So, yeah, yeah, it was a day that was unbelievable. We had three shots, really out of four people, because there was another guy there too, with us, but and then we, Joey and I both get the biggest buck of our lives on the same day. So it was a so white tail heaven. We highly recommend it.
Speaker 3 23:37
You put this, put us clients on the Giants. You for sure.
Speaker 1 23:49
Well, today we're going to dive into the question, how are you outfitted in your spiritual walk, and do you have the whole armor of God on Mike Hayes, you are, you are the pastor of today's program. Tell us your give us your wisdom. You and Joey,
Speaker 2 24:06
yeah, how are you outfitted in your spiritual walk? Now, Joey is here with me. We've been hunting together 40 years, and he's we're brothers in Christ. And I was thinking, Joey, we could talk about, you know, Ephesians. What is it? Ephesians, five, is it? I think, yeah,
Speaker 3 24:23
yeah, that's, that's one of, actually, one of, I probably pray that every day, that prayer from the put the full armor from head to toe, and knowing that, you know, we, we're going to have these fiery darts coming at us all the time, and we have to be prepared, you know, with the word and as that, those verses that you just break it down to each body part, reflecting to what the Lord would want us to do, to fight that fight continually.
Speaker 1 24:53
Yeah, because the enemies, he doesn't give up. He's on it 24 hours a day trying to steal Roger. And destroy in anything that we're doing. So for not armored, well, we're gonna get some darts.
Speaker 3 25:06
Oh yeah, they're gonna come. They're gonna come, yeah, especially if we're really, you know, we're really focused on, on Christ. We're really focused in our life. We're focused on, we're doing studies. We do, you know, I'm involved in marriage ministry. My wife and I have a home fellowship. And anytime that you're really digging in, the enemy's going to try to always knock us off, knock us off, or, you know, take us down the wrong path. So we, we have to continually be walking that path of, you know, righteousness the best we can. It's
Speaker 2 25:38
actually Ephesians 610, through 18, it's incredible, finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power which is so powerful, his mighty power, put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil. Schemes for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms, therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything to stand, stand firm then with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted With the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And then I also include 18 because it says and pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. Amen to that. And what about the belt of truth? What is that? Joey, well,
Speaker 3 26:48
it's you're buckling yourself up with the word. The enemy is out there trying to deceive, divide and conquer. So you know the bell of truth is what God's word is, what he says in the Bible, and nowhere else is the truth. And we have to trust that that is the truth, right?
Speaker 2 27:09
I think too, something that came to me was, I was thinking about that versus just being honest. That truth is an important thing to you, being trustworthy because he talks later about, you know, the sword of the Spirit is the word of God too. So, so he might be even bringing in another idea of just the integrity of truth is important, yeah, in your life. How about, how about the breastplate of righteousness?
Speaker 3 27:36
The righteousness just Ben, just fully covered. You know, covered with the word, just, you know, covered in God's word, what he has to say, and just letting know, nothing penetrate, penetrate us. Penetrate, you know, any, any kinks in our armor, and that
Speaker 2 27:58
covers your vitals, right? That's where your heart your lungs are, you know, and and so, yeah, the the breastplate of righteousness. So as we live our life according to his Word and in righteousness, and that's important thing for Christians, it's going to guard our hearts and our and our minds, right? How about the your feet fitted with the preparation of the gospel of peace?
Speaker 3 28:27
Yeah, being prepared. It's like anything else, like even we're in the in the field, you know the right boots, the right preparation that we have to either get to and fro Orr stands. But even you know the being prepared in our walk, where we're going, who, you know, who are associated ourselves with, how we go about our business. You know, are we walking the path when no one's looking? You know? And you know, are we walking the righteous path also?
Speaker 2 28:55
And I think too, when you think about we don't. We don't. Probably do it enough is be intentional about preparing our testimony. You know that where we can share the Gospel, when people like first, Peter talks about, you know that be ready always to have an answer for those that ask you about the peace that you have right? And he says, Be ready. How you know, how many people take the time to even think about what is the gospel and and how can I share it clearly with other people? Then we got the shield of the shield of faith. What do you think about that?
Speaker 3 29:35
Yeah, that's the, you know, that's the trust. You know, that's the trust that when the fiery darts when we get those challenges in front of us that we're able to shield it, we're able to block it with our faith to stand up against that onslaught of, you know evil, you know darkness, the areas that we're an enemy is going to try to, you know, attack us. He knows, too, where we're. Weak and we're vulnerable. So that shield, I feel it protects us, puts it to the left, puts it to the right, wherever these darts are
Unknown Speaker 30:06
coming from, yeah, the sword of the Spirit.
Speaker 3 30:09
Oh, that's the word. That's that's the Bible. That is Genesis to Revelation. That's the sword, you know. And the more we read that bigger, that's where it is for us to be on the offensive, and not, you know, as Christians, shouldn't be on the defensive. We should be on the offensive. And that sort a sword, to me is put it on the offensive. And the word puts us on the offensive
Speaker 2 30:31
reminds me that verse where Paul talks about tearing down all the pretenses and arguments, you know, of the world. And we do that with the truth of God's word, you know. And we got to know how to wield that sword, right? Absolutely, yes, yeah. And then the last we talked about was that 18 verse, 18, where he talks about praying at all times, you know, and that, that, what do you get out? What does
Speaker 3 30:53
that say? Prayer. Prayer. Is it? I mean, you know, that's the crust of our Christianity. You know, Christ came, died for our salvation, saved us. And you know, praying for those that for ourselves, our families, the country, our leaders. I mean, just continually. You know that's He wants us. He's he's listening to us. He wants here are supplications. He wants us not to be repetitious, but he wants us from the heart, that personal relationship, that personal prayer. And that's what I believe, you know, is the strongest thing. And I know my walk, my family, my wife, prayer is huge for us.
Speaker 2 31:34
And it starts out that first verse we started in 10 it says, Be strong in his power, in his might, and of course, it ends up with prayer, because that's where we get in tune with that. That's where we make sure that, hey, it's not me, it's you, Lord, I need your strength. You know, I got to bring all my thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ. You know, this is where I find my strength and and then I will see victory, because he's already won it for me. So as I walk in him, it's really not me. People will see me, but it's really not me. It's Jesus Christ, yeah,
Speaker 3 32:11
and what we don't want to do is petition for our wants. You know, you know our wants. You know, what do we want or what we need? We're not really praying to petition. We're praying what does God want for us? What does Christ want for us? And what do we want from that prayer to gain for what he wants for us and what we're praying for, not for what we want.
