Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.
In giving up His Son, He has poured out to us all heaven in one gift. –

“I don’t think we’re going to catch anything,” I told my grandpa.
“We still might,” he replied reassuringly.
My grandpa and I had decided to go fishing, and we were
anxious for a catch. The water was still, the sun high in the sky, and
the wind non-existent: what a perfect day to go fishing! With high
hopes, we docked the boat and headed out to open water to catch the
“big one.” After a while of being out on the water without any bites, we
were getting disappointed, and our hopes of catching the “big one”
were fading fast.
“You may be right,” my grandpa noted with a heavy sigh.
“Maybe it’s time to turn back.” As soon as he finished speaking, my
line began to bounce up and down energetically. Wow! This has got to
be one big fish! Grabbing the rod out of its holder, I began to reel in the
monster.
“Remember to let it run. Don’t try to reel in right away. Just
keep a firm hold on it.” Following my grandpa’s wise words, I let the
fish run. My line began to fly out of my reel as I let the fish soar down
to the ocean floor. However, the fish soon became tired, and I was
able to reel it up to the steely water’s surface. As soon as I saw the
bobber, I began to get excited to see the monster I had caught.
To my dismay, instead of a massive fish, only a wee Bomber
appeared on my hook. Although I didn’t catch the “big one” that day, I
did learn a valuable lesson. Sometimes in life, things don’t end up as
amazing as we expected, but with God, things are different. He has
poured out the gift of His Son—the “big one”—and our inheritance in
Heaven is sure.
