OK Solberg:

I wanna again welcome you to The 04:05 Coffee Break. Get you a cup of coffee, glass iced tea, or bottled water. Guys, let's see what's happening.

OK Solberg:

Spring wheat $5.39 a bushel, a 550lb Steer Calf $4.96 a pound, a butcher hog in Iowa 59ยข a pound, and a 100lb lamb that's fat in Billings $2.71 a pound. But guys there's more, much more bible verse right at the beginning and then I'll share bible trivia today.

OK Solberg:

Here's a bible verse. The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. Proverbs 18:15 That's a good one. The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge.

OK Solberg:

Let's see how your knowledge is. What is the shortest verse in the Bible in English translations? Did you know John 11:35 Jesus wept. Now on the other hand, the longest verse in the Bible is Esther 8:9 in the King James version. I'd read it but then I'd run out of time.

OK Solberg:

Did you know the longest chapter is Psalm 119, it contains a 176 verses and is structured as an alphabetical acaustric in Hebrew. The shortest chapter is Psalm 117 and only has 2 verses. The first 5 books of the Bible are traditionally called the Torah or the Pentateuch. Did you know the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered beginning in 1947?

OK Solberg:

They include some of the oldest known manuscripts of Hebrew biblical texts dating back more than 2000 years. The Gutenberg Bible printed around 1455 by Johannes Gutenberg was one of the 1st major books produced using movable type in Europe. The Bible has been translated in whole or in part into over 3,000 languages, making it the most translated book in history. The name Jerusalem appears more than 600 times in many English translations of the Bible. The book of Psalms is the most quoted Old Testament book in the Bible.

OK Solberg:

The book of Jonah contains only 4 chapters and it ends with a question. Read it. Jonah was madder in a wet hand in chapter 4. The book of Jude has just 1 chapter and it only has 25 verses. Methuselah, according to Genesis 527 lived to be 969 years old, making him the longest lived person recorded in the Bible.

OK Solberg:

The shortest book in the Old Testament is Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk. No, Obadiah. It contains 21 verses. The book of Acts was written as a sequel to the Gospel of Luke. We know sequels in movies.

OK Solberg:

Well, the book of Acts was written as a sequel to the Gospel of Luke. Both are addressed to a person named Theopolis. The last words of the Old Testament in the King James Version is curse Old Testament. The last word of the New Testament is amen. The Bible begins in a garden in Genesis and ends with a description of a city in Revelation.

OK Solberg:

The book of Revelation is filled with symbolic numbers including 7 churches, 7 seals, and 7 trumpets. The shortest verse, I thought that was John 11:35 I know, but the shortest verse in the original Greek New Testament is 1st Thessalonians 5:16 rejoice always. But in English, it's John 11:35 Jesus wept, like I mentioned earlier, simply because the translation of the words are shorter into English. The name Emmanuel, meaning God with us, appears in Isaiah and is quoted again in the Gospel of Matthew. The Bible contains poetry, law codes, history, prophecy, letters, and apocalyptic literature.

OK Solberg:

It's a library bound into one volume. Shepherds, fishermen, kings, prophets, and physicians were all represented among its writers. Across centuries, continents, and languages, the text has been copied by hand, translated, printed, studied, debated, and preserved, making it one of the most influential collections of writing in human history. That's it for today. So until next time.

OK Solberg:

As you go out there, remember now, don't be bitter.
