[00:00:00] Pia: Working in hybrid and remote teams offers huge benefits in terms of flexibility, time saving, and availability of talent. Not to mention the benefits for the environment. But leading in hybrid requires a few new skills. So we have three tips for you today based on our research with the London School of Economics. I'm Pia.

[00:00:21] Dan: And I'm Dan, and this is Squadify Connects. You know, looking back 12 or 24 months, teams seemed to be just about surviving, and we wanted to know what successful teams did in that time to thrive during that shift to hybrid working. The research called Survive to Thrive yielded nine tips for success in hybrid. The full set are in the show notes, but today we'll focus on just three.

[00:00:47] Pia: So let's start with number one. We versus me. It's easy for us to get isolated when working from home or even in an under-occupied office. So job number one is to see yourself as part of a team and an ecosystem. Who can you connect with? And when you do, how can you deepen that relationship? Remember, we are humans, not just machines with tasks. And strong personal relationships actually have been through research shown to lead to Happiness, and that can drive performance.

[00:01:23] Dan: And the second tip number two is where versus how. There's often a great deal to talk about where people should work and when. This can be important, but more vital to the success of your team is how you work. Being deliberate about how you connect to the team and as individuals will build a team wherever it actually works. Think about how you can run your meetings. How do you use technology to hear all voices through using whiteboards, chats, polls, et cetera.

[00:01:50] Pia: And finally number three, gut feel versus health check. So teams are complicated. I mean, after all, they are full of humans and humans are quite complicated. But we can't always read the dynamics, especially when we work apart. So using a team diagnostics such as Squadify to give everyone a voice about how the team is going, will give you the hard data on the soft stuff inside your team. Then you can really act on it knowing that you'll make a difference, build the muscle of the team, and really improve the performance.

[00:02:27] Dan: So there's some pretty meaty stuff there, but your experiment this week is to choose one of those three points, or another from the infographic in the show notes if you want to download that. Challenge yourself to do something different, whether that's connecting with others in a different way, trying out new ways of working, or run a diagnostic on your team.

[00:02:46] Pia: Next week we'll finish the mini-series on leading in hybrid with a look at you and how you can thrive in remote working world. But for this week, think about your team. Do something different and be open to seeing what that impact is. Have fun, and we'll see you next week.
