Full show transcript:
You
and I have long talked about this, and somebody's making it real. He's uh 32-year-old guy. His name is Zhang, and he came up with the idea of turning scratching into a commercial service.
Oh, dude. So you can actually pay to get a back scratch. Uh back scratch. Backscratch. Uh there was an online uh video of a wife scratching her husband's back, and in the comments, people were like, dude, I would pay for somebody to scratch my back like that. And so he went, you know what?
I'm gonna figure this out. So he developed some different uh gloves and finger attachments that give him like scratchable big like claws almost. Okay, and uh you can go and pay, and it's a relaxing thing, and uh you can go, it's about 41 dollars per hour to get scratched, and uh you can just go get your back scratched. I'm into it. You are into this.
I need a back scratch scratching is your favorite thing of all time. For an hour, though, I here's the thing about me. I like a good back scratch, but half an hour is pretty good for me.
I think you're probably right. But 20 bucks, I'd pay 20 bucks for a half hour good back scratch. You can get one for free. Boy, does it come for what the price?
What do you mean for free? Don't glare at me. Don't do that. Don't do that.
Uh anyway, this guy, 32 years old, he's still alright. our idea. I mean, he's gonna make money. He is gonna make money. He's gonna start franchises. This is gonna be a big deal. Yeah, I just wonder if it's a long-term, a good long-term business plan.
You don't think you get repeat customers coming back to get back scratches? No, I think you do. I think it's a fine thing. Somewhere along the way, somebody went, I'm gonna put oil on you and rub you, and then uh you're gonna pay me a lot of money for that. That's true. And then people are like, yeah, it's massage, it's very fancy.
And then you keep coming back every yeah. month. Yeah. It's gonna be something that gets added on at existing spas, especially if you don't have to use your own fingers to get like DNA in there and stuff. If you have like an apparatus that you can put on your hands to do different scratching stuff, oh it's gonna be huge. Yeah, it's gonna be huge.
It's gonna take out the quote unquote ick factor for people. You'll have like a membership. Oh, yes. I'd do a punch card. Back scratch punch card, you betcha.
What is the tenth punch kitchen? A free one. Oh. But I didn't get one free.
That's typically how punch cards work. I don't know. Do you know a different way?
Is there Is there a different kind of punch card? No, that's it. All right. Well, he's still our idea. I mean, I wasn't really gonna invest in it. I just thought it was a good idea that it's something I would be into. So anyway, it's happening.
So some mall kiosk near me is gonna have a chair where I can lift my shirt up and they can scratch my back. It's gonna be nice. Here's today's show. Hey there.
Oh, hey, oh hi. Hello.
Hey, uh, so today is officially fall the first day of fall. Fall, y'all. And I've got a beef. Oh. Not with fall. With me, but with whoever is in charge of the national days. Because today is also national ice cream cone day. And I'm trying to say it should have been yesterday.
Uh yeah. You should end summer with a bang, and that should be ice cream day, and then you should move on with your life. I'm upset. I have a beef. Yeah.
Because you asked me how I was gonna celebrate the last day of summer yesterday. Yeah. And I didn't have a response. Yeah. And then you said you were gonna take a bike ride, and I said, I'll go. Mm-hmm. And then we didn't go. What? Yeah, I quit. You know what you did.
You know exactly what I'm saying. I had a late night meeting. It wasn't my fault. It wasn't. It doesn't even matter. I didn't have time to write. You have lights on your bike. You didn't go get the bikes down. No. Oh, a bicycle. Oh, were you thinking motorcycle? Yes.
Oh. I thought bicycles, because that felt like a summer thing, but I see what you're saying about the motorcycle. They're both summer. Yeah. Yeah. I was confused. I thought you wanted to ride your little blue bicycle. I like that bike too, but I like your motorcycle.
And an evening motorcycle ride would have been awesome. I it's fine.
Did not know that that was something that you thought of. No, it's fine. It's fine. Well, I know now. It's totally fine.
I just went to bed sad. It's fine. It's fine.
Well, listen, no single government agency or central authority is in charge of organizing or creating all the quirky national days that are celebrated throughout the year. Okay. They are entirely unofficial and created by individuals, companies, or organizations.
So anyone can just do it. That is correct. Bro, we gotta create a day.
It's not the same as a federal holiday and international day, which is usually like global days. Yeah. Are usually something that is recognized by a larger entity, or proclamations, whether that comes from a mayor, a governor, or the president. Uh those are honorary proclamations designating specific awareness weeks, months, or days for a cause. Fine. Yeah. So ice cream cone day, it's not even a thing. Some somebody made up.
Probably an ice cream cone company. Whoa. Yeah. It's okay. And what happened is they went, oh, today was the last day of summer. We forgot. Today is ice cream cone day. Woo.
I don't mind that. Because guess what? You can have ice cream anytime. I know you can, but I'm frustrated.
Well when I have a beef. Get over it. I don't know if I will. I'm also frustrated. I feel slighted.
So do I. I was supposed to go on a motorcycle ride. I didn't know. So we're both mad. So happy Tuesday. Good morning.
All right, here's some good news. Uh this is pretty incredible. There's a 13-year-old prodigy from Long Island, uh named Joe Petraro Hypolite. Okay. Okay. So Joe here uh is from Long Island, has a sky high IQ of 168. Do you know the average IQ is somewhere between 85 and 115? 100 is really the center point, and every 15 uh points you get on either direction, explain how far away you are from the center point average. So a hundred on a bell curve. Okay.
And the further you get away from the middle, the further you are from average intelligence. Okay. He's 168. Dude.
He's very, very strong. I want to take an IQ test. Uh yeah, it'd be fun. Wouldn't it? Yeah, it'd be kind of interesting. Uh he is headed to New York University. He's going to NYU next fall to pursue his master's degree in sports management. Okay. 13, I'll remind you.
Oh, I forgot. He was just little. Yeah.
Oh, literally. And he's going to NYU in the fall to pursue his master's degree in sports management. Uh, he's enjoying kind of an unusual life as a teenager after scoring a near-perfect 1590 on his SAT at 11.
Dude, that's crazy.
Sorry. At 10, got his high school diploma at 11.
Dude, that's crazy.
It's absolutely nuts. And he's uh go ahead. There's more to this story. Okay, I'm listening. He was once placed in a special education program following a Tourette syndrome diagnosis, and he's now come to this point. So as a young child, he was put into special education classes because of a Tourette's diagnosis.
He then said, uh, nah, and graduated high school at 11 with a near perfect SAT score at 10, is now 13 and headed to NYU to get his master's, which he hopes to accomplish about the same time he gets his driver's license. Dude.
I think it's amazing, but I also just want to tell that kid, just be a kid. Yeah. Just be a kid.
So while he's finishing up his undergrad degree this spring, uh he is staying grounded by volunteering at local nursing homes. So he's he's doing stuff.
This is a good kid.
It is a good kid. Uh Joe's a good kid. And he's 13 and he's getting ready to start grad school. So proud of you, Joe. Wow, Joe. That is some good news.
I did a home workout yesterday. Yeah.
I I I had to leave. I had to go to my uh my weekly scout meeting. And so as I was leaving, you were like, I'm gonna go downstairs and I am gonna do a workout. And then you grabbed your yoga mat and you uh you were like, I'm going to the basement. I'm gonna do a thing. And I grabbed dumbbells. Oh, I didn't know. Yeah. Ten pound dumbbells. Okay.
And you said, Are you gonna do that in jeans? And I said, Yeah, it's like uh so I asked, uh now don't be mad at me, because the kids were mad at me. Both of them looked at my sheet and they go, did you AI this? Did you chapity this workout? And I went Chappity T.
What's the Chat GPT? Are you 90? Yeah, I kind of chappy T, I chappy teeth it. Okay. So you chappeteed a workout. Yeah. Got it.
And they said they couldn't believe it. They were so mad at me. And so I was like, when you said you're going to work out in your jeans, I said, yeah, it's it's just like a warm-up exercise. It like builds, and I get it gets more intense as the time goes by.
Well, I came home and you had showered and you weren't wearing the jeans that you were when I left. What happened?
Well, the workout was more intense than I expected it to be.
Did you do the whole thing in jeans or did you change how?
No, I did the whole thing in jeans. I should not have. I should have been. No kids. I thought it was gonna be like uh just uh ease on in.
You can't work out in jeans. Dude, it was intense. Jeans are heavy. Yeah. You don't want to be wearing jeans to work out.
So I asked Chat GPT to do like a like a... I said I said, I want to focus on these areas, and one of the areas was my my booty and my thighs. Okay. And so that was my Monday workout
was and you're one your arms, I you've said before. Yeah, that's why the dumbbells are around. Yeah. Okay. Yeah.
Dude, it's hard. Oh, yeah? Yeah, I wanted me to do some reverse lunges. I gave up on that one. I said, I'm not doing those reps. Um, it was too hard. But I did like I had to do, I don't even have my sheet with me. But it was like Romanian deadlifts and glute bridges.
And are you doing any of this with bands? Like you have those, you have those uh whatever they're called. Bands.
I did use some bands. Yeah. Some exercise bands. Yeah. Not exercise bands. Yeah, that's what they're called. Stretch bands. No. Resistance bands. Maybe. That is what they are.
Did you use your uh your your cool uh teamu find your your fun rubber hose apparatus? No. Still haven't used it. That thing's been around the house for like a year and a half, and you're like, I got influenced. I bought a thing. And I went, I've seen these at every thrift store since the eighties. And you've bought one. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's and it's collecting dust. I don't know how to use it. No kidding. What part are you missing?
It's got the little foot part. Yeah. It's not missing any parts. I just don't know how to use it.
So don't you just click in the handles with the little thing and then you have the other end and you put your feet in it and you like you can use it to like row? Yeah, I think so. Okay.
You know what's interesting? I just realized I got influenced because that little resistance band thing that I saw on TikTok.
Is that what you're calling a resistance band?
I don't know, no, that's not what I'm calling. I don't know what that thing is.
I don't know what it is. Exercise apparatus. Sure. Sure.
I saw it over and over and over and over. And then the second I bought it, I see no more ads for that thing. That is sketch. I got her. Got her. Yeah. Yeah, they did. Anyway, I'm tired today. My legs.
Now, why did you decide to do a home workout as opposed to the gym? Well swimming or I know, right?
That's I haven't we had a friend who asked yesterday, how's swimming going? And I went, I don't like an answer. Because I haven't been back. Yeah.
Because you Because you had to fight people to swim. And it was frustrating.
It was frustrating. And also, once you get home, you don't want to go back out. And so that's how I kind of feel lately. I just once I'm home, I'm home. Especially as it's getting darker and colder. I just go, mm-hmm.
All the more reason to go out to the gym.
Why can't I? I'll just do something at home. And I put on some music and I hung out in the basement. Beck was watching football upstairs, and I went, I'm gonna hang out down here and and do some jeans workout. Romanian deadlifts. Jeans workout. Yeah, that's hardcore. That's what that means.
Bad decision is what that means.
I think Chuck Norris worked out in jeans. So good company. And where is he now? Too soon. I said nothing. Just saying. Don't work out in jeans. Jeans work out on Chuck Norris.
That's how that joke would actually go. Anyway. Well, good for you doing some stuff. How are you feeling today? Are your muscles? I said I'm sore. Lake day. Hydrate, would you?
I did, dude. I had so much water. Oh, dude, dude. You got sad last night because you had to eat dinner alone. Yes.
Because uh look, my Mondays are late and I don't get home until nine. Right. And uh and I I end up eating at the table by myself. So tell me it's a sad time.
Tell me what you would prefer happens. Everyone wait. Is that what you would prefer for real? No. Because that's not gonna happen. No kids. And let me tell you why. Because we were hungry. I understand. And they cook dinner. Yeah.
It's an unreal it's an unreasonable time to have dinner.
Yeah, you got home at like quarter after nine.
It was real close to nine, I thought, but something like that. I know. It happens every Monday. I can't eat dinner that late. I go to bed at 10, dude. I tell me about it. Because then I have to eat, and then I have to be like, okay, now I got a full belly, time for bed. I hate that.
I know. And then I want to like do an activity or something. Like I need to go burn off some of that. I wanted to go for calorie stuff.
I know. I just but then it's late. And then it's like, well, the house is shutting down. The alarm's set. There's no more going outside. Yeah, we're done. We're shut in.
Dinner's done. Okay. Dishes are done. Time for bed. Yeah.
So there's zero decompression on days like that.
You had I made tostadas last night. They were very tasty. I liked them. I did too. They were delicious. The Emery didn't like it.
I want to say surprise. I know.
Beck always complains about those. I've made tostadas before, and he complains about them because how am I supposed to eat this?
With a fork and a knife or pick it up and hold it. Yeah.
Why didn't you just do a regular tortilla? Like a taco. Because it's a tostada. It's a tostada. Ta-da. It's fun. It's fun.
Did you say that? I hope you told him it's fun. And he went, No, it's not. How's this fun? All the stuff falls off. I can't fold it to make stuff stay in it.
So we rate our dinners on a scale of five stars. Right, one to five. And I think the kids like when I say, what would you rate this? Okay. I think they really like, I think they enjoy it. Okay. That's total sarcasm. All right. Beck gets annoyed that the scale is only a five star. He thinks it should go to ten. I think five's fine. I do too.
Five's enough to build your average.
So I said, I'm gonna give this a four star. I think this is really good. And Emory said, I'm gonna give it a one. And Beck said, I'm gonna give it a two. It tastes good, but it's messy. And they went, you just don't know how to eat it, dude. Yeah.
And anything that falls off, you just pick it up with a fork. Yeah. Ta-da. Ta-da.
I said, you could break up your tostada and eat it like a like a salad. Like a nacho. Yeah, because there was some coleslaw in there.
Well, they didn't get the coleslaw. Of course they didn't. So they see here's the other thing. They're they're giving a rating off of a modified meal. That's true. If they go like, well, it's a three, then I'm gonna go put the coleslaw on it and try it now. Because now you've got all the good flavors. You're missing some of the flavor. Well, I'm sorry you had to eat alone.
Do you would you prefer that I sat there with you?
No, I'm not gonna make you sit there and watch me eat. No, that's it. Because here's the other thing is that then you want to talk, and I'm there to eat. I'm not there to have a conversation.
So then why is it a big deal for you to be eating alone? It's just lonely. That's all. But you're not talking. I don't want to talk.
Yeah, so then I want other people to be eating dinner.
If I'm if I'm sitting there with you. I'm a complicated man. You are so complicated. You just want me to be there. Eat it silently. No. Do you want me to hold your hand while you eat? No, that's awkward. Do you want me to touch elbows? No. You want me to put
your sit in your normal spot and also be eating dinner. Well, I had already eaten. I know.
I talk when I eat dinner too. I know. Collie. Do you even like me?
Yeah. I'm just a complicated guy. I have complicated desires. I just want you to sit there and eat with me, but not have a conversation.
Okay. All right. Well, when our kids move out, it's going to be great. That is going to be great. You think? Yeah.
I bet I bet you have a lot of girl dinners, and then I go like, well, I'll cook something.
Yeah, yeah.
That's what's going to happen. You're going to snack throughout the afternoon and be like, I don't even really want anything for dinner. I'm just going to have a bowl of cereal. And then I'm going to go, okay. Well, I'll heat up some leftover stuff from a couple days ago, then when we had a meal together. I'll just remember it fondly. You're like, that sounds fine. That sounds good. That's what's gonna really gonna happen. See you when it's time for bed. Yeah, all right. I'll be downstairs doing my workout in my genes.
I just told you. I go, I don't remember how this came about. You have to remind me. And you go, I don't know. I don't remember.
So now we're gonna have a hard time telling this story. Now we're in a pickle. Yeah.
You said something last night about you gotta get down to brass tacks.
Well, I'm trying to remember what exactly the context was because you were like, We need to get serious. And I said something about getting down to brass tacks, and you uh you laughed and laughed and laughed because it was an old man thing, and you said, Who even says that? That's not a thing. Yeah, who says that? And I said, Yes, it is.
It's getting down to brass tacks means like getting to the most important part of the whole situation. What does it come from? I found it. The exact origin uh is uncertain, but it's been around for a long time. The 19th century. Yeah, that's a long time.
They say that it refers to stripping an old piece of furniture down to its frame to reveal the tiny brass tacks holding the structure together, representing the bare essentials. Or the counter theory, hardware and dry goods stores often embedded brass tacks into store counters. Okay. At exact yard of foot increments to measure fabric quickly and accurately. That makes sense. Get down to brass tacks.
There's also a coffin theory. Do you have that one? Uh uh. Says some suggest it relates to the brass headed tax used to decorate coffins or mark a deceased person's initials representing facing ultimate realities. Oh. Getting down to brass tacks.
You wanted to face ultimate realities.
Yeah, we really need to have some discussion about what? I can't remember. I don't either.
This is your part of the job. I just say the things. No, no, no, no. This is a team, you and I. When you say stuff, I write it down on my show notes. Okay. And then you're supposed to remember what it means.
I might remember saying it, but I don't remember what it was in reference to, and I remember your reaction. So those are important parts for me. Okay. I cannot remember contact. What was my reaction? You felt like I was 900 years old.
You are a little bit old. That was a little bit old thing to say. Hey. I just said a little bit. It didn't say a lot. Settle down. Get down to brass tacks. Yeah, that's right.
We got to get down to brass tacks now, yeah. It's your important conversations. Also, what we were already tucked into bed.
Yeah. And it was late. Yeah, I think. Ain't nobody getting down to brass tacks.
Well, and that's how I can't remember the conversations because it was too late at night. That's not a time for brass tacks. No, it is conversations. It's time for sleeping.
That's why I probably laughed and rolled over and said, Good night.
Yeah, yeah. Forget about this. We're not brass tacking. Crazy man. Anyway, yeah, now that that happened. I did say we got to get down to brass tacks, and you uh thought I was from the 19th century.
I just wish you would have remembered what it was in reference to.
Something important we had to talk about.
We never got down to brass tacks. I guess not.
So you laughed and face about it when I said it. I laughed and fell asleep. Like, that's hilarious.
It's cute. You'd think you know. Think that you're in control. It's cute that you think you're in control. Oh, okay. I don't know what that means. Forget about it. Good talk.
I watched a video yesterday that I sent you, and it was a man waiting for his girlfriend to come home from work, and it's his attempt he's wrestling her as soon as she gets home with the intent that she he's gonna keep wrestling her until she until she takes him down.
Right. And it seems like they're kind of working out. Like this is uh Oh, yeah. This is a thing that like she has said, I I want to be able to wrestle you down and and pin you, but I don't want you to like go easy on me. And he went, okay.
Good luck then. And all of these videos take place like in a hallway, right? When they like right when they walk in. And she has tried to set up like I'm gonna get him. She tried punching him with uh like a punching glove. is that Is that what it's called? Yeah. Boxing glove. Boxing glove. And uh, and she like punched him right in the gut, and he went, ooh. And then as he was down, he said, Aha, there's the camera. I see what's happening, and then proceeded to flip her over his shoulder and then remind her that she's not capable yet. Yet. She will be.
She's gonna be able to do that. So I sent it to you and I said, I want to do this. I want to try this. To which I said, No, you don't. You don't.
You think it's a good idea, but you don't. And here's the other thing you fight dirty. You don't like losing, and you're my only defense is like kicking and scratching, and you play dirty. I don't scratch.
Maybe a pinch for sure, a bite, a little bite, little bites. Kicking for sure, because that's where my strength is. That's my only defense. That's where my strength lives.
It's not kicking. It's not punching. It's not scratch and biting. Even little ones. Don't squint at me. What is it then? Wrestling.
I don't know how to wrestle. And that's what we determined last night. Yeah.
So you're gonna have to learn, I guess. Or you're just gonna learn by trying. How do I take wrestling class? You just learn how to move and control. Okay. That's it. All right. I'm down. Let's play. I've seen. On the mat. Done. You lose.
What I don't like, because you also play, you also play a little bit dirty. No. Yes, you do. Because you like to pin automatically.
That's the point of the game. I pin automatically, and then you should go, okay. I lost that round. But you don't. You keep fighting, and I have to go, no, you are done. You're done. No. And then you keep kicking.
Yeah, I say work down to my say we're done. Right. I'm not done.
So your frustration about me being like, no, you're not gonna move a bunch. You're gonna stop kicking around. Is that you don't like then being held down? You're like, I can't move. I won't. Yeah, I don't. You're pinned. That's the point. Done. You lost. Okay, fine. I'm gonna learn how to spark.
And then I'm gonna, I'm gonna come back in a big way. Just wait. For what? How to learn.
Oh, here we go. How to learn. How to learn. How to learn. Take a class. Yeah.
You got to master the basic techniques. Okay. Well, good luck. Proper footwork jabs. I got this.
There's no jabs. There's not this what this says. Because you looked up like martial arts weird sparring. We're not boxing. What are we doing? Wrestling. It's not sparring. You need to learn how to wrestle. Okay. I said you want to like fight me, and I'm not into fighting. I'm not trying to fight. I kind of do want to fight you. I don't want to fight you. Because I don't. I don't, I never want to punch you, even in a sparring situation. Ever.
Well, I don't want to punch. I don't want to hurt you. Yeah, you do. I don't want to make you. So I don't want to make you bleed or anything.
I feel like you no one makes me bleed my own blood. You feel like what? I feel like you want to beat me up. No. Look at your eyes. There was the longest pause, and your eyes say, Yes, you do. You want to beat me up.
No, I don't. I really don't. What I really want to do is pin you. That's what I want to do. That's a wrestling move.
Okay, well then there's no punching jabs, kicks, bites, scratches, even little ones.
Okay, fine. I'm gonna learn how to do it the proper way. I've been exercising in the basement.
In genes, yeah. I know. You are ill-equipped. Wrong, oh, dude.
Wrong, dude. That I can learn how to move in something as restrictive as genes. That means I have the advantage. Okay. You just wait. I'm gonna learn this. Look at here's a video. Wrestling for beginners. Your first five moves. Don't watch that. I'm gonna watch that.
But you don't watch that. Okay. I'm gonna learn these moves. And then I'm gonna get you. Thumbs up. When I sent you that video and I said, I want to wrestle, you said, No, you don't. You actually hate wrestling. And I go, no, I don't.
Yes, you do. You hate it. You hate losing. You hate being held down. You hate everything about it.
And then you started to wrestle, and I go, Yeah, I actually do hate this. Yeah, I know.
You're over here like, nah, this is a fun idea.
It looked fun. The video that we saw looked fun.
Until you're losing, and then you're not into it.
Oh, I hate losing. I hate it so bad. To you. I know. Ugh. You hate losing to me. Yeah. Yeah. It's fine. And it makes you want to hurt me. It's just because you have more upper body strength than I do. That's the only reason you win.
I have way more body mass than you. You're small.
I have more strength.
We are not equally weight class. It's going to be very difficult for you to throw me over your shoulder and body slam me.
What about a pile driver? Can I do that? No. No. That's a wrestling thing. Yeah. And you're not gonna do it. Why?
Because it's not what you think it is. You were doing an elbow drop. A pile driver's a whole different thing. And no, you're not gonna do it. I value being able to walk. Fine. Ugh.
You take all the fun out of everything.
Plus weird wrestling moves from WWE or not entering the chat. Trying to drop the people's elbow like the rock. over there. If you smell you got one eyebrow up, and I'm like, no, we're not doing this. But you think John Cena, you can't see me over here.
Macho Man Randy Savage. Yeah. Coming at you. Is that his voice? I don't know. Macho man. Just wait. Good luck. Good luck to you. Don't need it. But thanks. I was driving to work this morning, and I hit every green light, which is an instant, like, yes. I was able to just go without anybody like being in front of me, going slow. So that was awesome. And then I had a real pumped up song come on on the radio. Yeah. So when I got here, I was super stoked. It was super stoked.
My drive was almost as good. I had green lights until I got to Sunnyside. And when I got to Sunnyside, there was someone waiting to turn right, and they sat there and didn't turn right on red. And I was two seconds away from honking when they finally decided to go. And I was not excited. And then the rest of the way, green lights. So not bad. Not terrible. But that was a very frustrating.
You gotta you gotta find the joys where you can get them. Okay. Right? Sure. So what's what's something small that gives you genuine joy?
I've got a whole bag of little tiny small things that bring me joy. When it's put them on really small fishing line, and I throw them away from me, and then I reel them back in, and then I throw them away from me, and I reel them back in. And sometimes there's a fish on the end of it.
I was gonna say, is it the flies that give you the joy or the fish that give you the joy? All of it. Small things. Little small things. I was picking up a prescription yesterday, and the and the gentleman picking up his prescription was talking to the uh to the pharmacist about how he had just gotten back from fishing and he got a very large fish, and he was pretty stoked about it. And then I felt sad for you that you didn't get to go catch a fish yesterday.
I appreciate that you felt sad for me for not. I I should have. I should have gone fishing and caught a sort of thing. On the last day of summer, yeah. I should be doing that right now. You should be. Yeah. But here I am not doing that. Okay. So flies and fish. Yes.
You consider that something small that gives you joy? Sure. Okay.
Uh, sort of a non-tangible because I feel like your green light thing was something small, but it's it's non-tangible. Uh but it brings you joy. So I'm trying to figure out a non-tangible that I go, oh, that makes me so happy. Um I'm I have to think about that for a minute. Because I think there's like there's certainly things that I see, and I go, like, like, yeah, that's that's a win. Like, that's a happiness win. But I'm I'm gonna have to think. Like, I know there's times when you're like walking through uh through the store and you're you like walk past the toy section and you'll see a little kid just filled with excitement about the new thing they just found.
They want to like my mom, look at this, look at this, look at this, and like that excitement. That's a that's a win. Yeah. Uh especially if they're met with like that is cool, like, you know, uh, and not brushed off. I think that's a that's a cool thing. I I love finding a good deal that makes me happy. I'm uh I love finding a good deal. You do like that, like a good sale.
I like a good unexpected compliment. Sure, that makes sense, yeah. Those aren't always nice, appreciated. Yeah, uh, I like the smell of rain. Oh, nice.
I like the smell of rain.
Oh, well, I looked outside and it's rainy, so it's gonna be. I was having a kind of a I was getting kind of a meh mood yesterday. I wasn't really grouchy, but I wasn't really happy either. It was just kind of meh. Sure. So I'm trying to get back on the joy train. Nice. So I'm trying to find joy where I can find it.
Well, good. I like that. So I'm looking for those little small things.
Picking up all these little things that give me joy. I think that's good. I gotta make somebody laugh because they like that too.
Yeah, yeah. That's good too. Yeah. Makes sense. I like when uh when a plant blooms, like I'm waiting for yours back there to throw some flowers, but it hasn't yet. No.
So I just wait. It's not getting enough light. It's getting lots of light. I might put them in the window. Okay. Okay. It's gonna fall out, and then there's gonna be dirt everywhere.
Don't rain on my parade, Josh. You love the smell of rain. I do like the smell of rain. Okay. Um I was just gonna ask you when you had a plan to take out the window air conditioners.
Why? Uh it was only a matter of months ago when the question was, um I just was wondering when you were gonna put in the window air conditioners because it is hot. And now you're over it. Now you're done with them.
Well, yeah, the weather's cooler. And also, this is the best time of fresh air. This is the this is my favorite time for window air. You know what that means, right? Window air. Yeah, when you open when you open your windows at night and you can and you can hear the like the fall weather, you can feel it, you can smell it.
What is fall weather sound like
you know you can't it's indescribable, but you know that it's fall because you can't Hey, hey,
maybe part of your genes wrestling training could be uh taking those out. Hefting them around. Sure. Because here's the other part. They're heavy. I know. No, where do they get stored? In the shed. Guess what's not prepared?
I know. I know that's why you haven't taken them out yet. I get it. I do. So maybe today is a shed day. I'll help, Josh. You're looking at me like I'm not gonna help. I help. Look at my face. Why are you laughing?
This project's been on my list all year. I know. It's now month nine. And you're like, I'll help. Josh. Hey. Settle down.
I've been saying I would help all summer long. But I need you to get it started because you're the one that has the plan. So you start and I will help.
You know what sounds lame? Starting it. Ugh. I know. Uh yuck. I know. It's a terrible, it's a terrible project. I realize.
But this is the best time for window air. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I'm looking at the weather today. It is supposed to be a little thunderstormy at 10.
I'm not going to be able to do this until I get done with it. No, I know. And then again. I can't work on this project until like three.
It should be cleared by six. So by that time I'll be home. Yeah. Three looks great. Four looks great. Five's a little thunderstormy. We now have six and then turn your phone down, dude.
I don't know where that came from. I was on accu weather. When did they have sound? Pokey doke. I'm just saying there's some time today where the weather looks great.
You just really want that window air.
Dude, fall window air.
You can just you can hear fall. You can just hear the sounds of fall.
People know. They know what I'm talking about. Okay. Raise your hand if you know. No hands. They know. Zero hands. When you meet somebody new, what is your typical response? Hi. Do you shake their hand?
I guess it depends on the situation.
on the cheek? No. You're not European. Nope. Do you um shake their hand? Did I say that one? Did you give them a hug?
That's no. I mean, it's gonna depend on the situation. But I'm not really gonna be like uh I'm not a I'm not gonna kiss you cheek or give you a hug on the first like hey, nice to meet you. Bring it in.
Yeah, I'm not I feel like uh a hug is too, especially if this is the first time we're meeting. Yeah, that's too much. You're doing too much. In for my taste. Sure.
I am a very I don't know what's the word I want to say to describe myself. I feel like that's too much. But I also feel like a handshake is too formal. Okay. So there's gotta be like a in between, in between a hug and in between a handshake.
But I don't know what it is. So I just usually hi. You wave. I do Hi. hello. I see you.
Because that shows that I'm like open and friendly, but I'm not like business. Yeah. I'm not here for brass tacks. Exactly. Bravo. Bravo. You're giving yourself a hand clap. Yeah. That's right. Slow one, too. I know. It wasn't even that great.
It is if you've been following along from earlier this morning and last night. Uh getting down to brass tacks is pretty important to me. Uh it's a it's how I like to live. I like to live the brass tack life. As they say.
I think this the next time you meet somebody new, you need to kiss them on the cheek and see how they react. I don't think I will. If somebody went in for me for a kiss on the cheek, I'd be like, Whoa. Yeah. And then I would do that awkward thing where I like turn.
Yeah, no, thank you. And then our lips would meet in the middle, and that would be really awkward. Don't we do that? I know. But that's put up a hand. That's my awkward self. I make it more awkward. I make awkward situations more awkward. That's how I need to be introduced. Hi, this is awkward. This is chantel.
It's about to get more awkward.
Awkward situations more awkward. Yeah.
So you then they go to shake your hand and you do a fist bump hand thing, and then they go, they were right. Nailed it. I thought you were doing the fist bump. I didn't know you were doing the hands.
Or I'll go in for a handshake and then I'll use my other hand and just like shake their one hand, I'll sandwich their hands. With your two hands? Shake it.
That's it's weird. Don't do that. I know. Quit doing weird stuff. I don't know how not to. I don't know how not to. Just be a normal. I can't. I don't know how to.
Do you Do you ask this question because you met someone new or
I did meet somebody new and I didn't shake their hand. Yeah. And then they kind of did like a they were gonna hold out their hand, and then they retreated because I didn't have my hand out, and I went, well, now this is awkward. You should have put your hand out. Right when they put theirs away.
Like, oh yeah, I was gonna shake your hand. Good to meet you. Yeah, I don't know. It depends on the thing. Like if it's if it's a business environment. Like if I if I go to a meeting and somebody says, oh yeah, this is so-and-so uh who owns this business or whatever. I I'll shake hands. Well, right, that's business. That's a business thing. That's brass tax. Brass tax move.
Stop. Stop it. You've done too much.
We're getting down to brass tax. We're gonna handshake. And then, you know, if it's uh if it's a personal, like, like, oh, this is my good friend, or this is my family. Like, well, if people will be like, I'm gonna show my family the the studios, and you go, Oh, hey, how's it going?
I might like if they just poke their head in, I'll just wave from over here and go, hey, good to meet you. Yeah. Uh, you know, that's fine, because that's I feel like the wave thing's a distance thing. If I'm standing next to you, I'm not waving at you. That's weird.
That's a chantel move. Hi. It's not weird.
To wave when you're standing next to someone. Yeah. You're right. It's not. It's not weird at all. I always wave when I'm standing right next to the person I'm waving at. Hello. Right next to them. You're crazy.
It's not. It's normal.
It's not normal. You're right. It is not normal. That is a chantel move. Hey, keep it awkward. Yeah.
You're doing good. I know. Keep it awkward. I don't think that I'm above looking like a fool. But I I feel like the video that you posted last night. Okay. Makes me feel like a fool. What?
No. Here's here's the video that got posted last night. We talked about it on the show yesterday. There is this uh viral video trend where you get someone to make the sound of a dinosaur, and then uh you take the audio of them sounding like a dinosaur and you pair it up with this uh little clip from Jurassic Park of the T-Rex turning in the sun, and then he opens his mouth and makes a big dinosaur noise, uh, but then you put the person's dinosaur noise in the mouth. Yeah, that's what it is, right? I think I adequately explain that. Uh and that is exactly what happened.
You nailed your dinosaur impression. Uh, and uh it's been receiving some great uh laughy emojis and some good comments. Uh our friend Jordan says, hands down, best thing I've seen all day. Our friend Josh, he gave it many laughs and many uh like hands up, like yes, this is it. Uh I I do like that someone threw up a dinosaur uh jiff uh on the comments. I'm very happy about that.
Uh it's it's doing well. I think you uh underestimated your ability to sound like a dinosaur, and I think you have done an impressive job. I think you have done a splendid job.
Again, I will say that I'm not uh you were like, Can I post this? Can I please post this? And I was like, I look like a total fool. No. But I don't even care. Because I thought it was funny. And I'm not above looking like a dork.
You've you've done really well. Uh I I really am proud of you for what you've accomplished. Would you like to hear the sound that you made? Do you have it? Of course I have it. Of course you do.
Great. Of course I this is gonna be something you're gonna have on repeat. It's so good.
It's it's uh as our son said, it's the best dinosaur sound he's ever heard. I think you spell that with a couple of extra A's and a W in there. You know You know what it sounds like. It sounds like a TIF.
A TIE fighter, yeah. Yeah, you kind of did do a TIE fighter.
It's a tie fighter T-Rex. Uh-huh. We mean business. Brass tax.
That is uh that's a good impression. And if you haven't seen the video yet, I encourage you to check it out. It's on Instagram, it's on YouTube Shorts, it's on Facebook. You can check it out there. Uh I'm working on uh getting it posted on our TikTok as well. So you can if you follow us on socials, you're gonna see this thing and you're gonna like it. It's pretty good.
It's pretty good. You did a great job. And I here's the thing that I thought was really funny. But uh Emery and I, our daughter and I tried really hard to get you to do the noise because you had done it like the day before, and we were really impressed. And but we didn't record it. And so we encouraged you strongly to do it again.
Yes. And immediately after you did it, you tried to leave the house. Well, yeah. You left the front door. You were like, I am out of here. Yeah, because I was embarrassed. So rubber.
I had to go. Yeah, I had to go. Well, now it's on the whole internet. I know. When I did it the first time without the camera, yeah, I did like a neck thing because I was like, maybe that's a good one. Yeah, you did.
You went like rawr! Yeah. Like that. So the second time when there was a camera there, Emory said, make sure you do the next thing. You gotta do the neck thing. Rawr! It's so funny. Thank you for doing it.
Thanks for agreeing to let me post it. I think it's awesome.
Oh, it's dumb, but I don't care. I'm dumb. And I you're not. No, it's it's okay. I'm saying that in a positive way. You're not. It's so good. It's silly. And I you did great. Don't mind being silly. So There you go. there you go.
At Classy97 K L C E on socials, if you want to see the video.
Okay, we talked about Fat Bear Wheat yesterday. Yeah, it kicked off. Um, what would your hibernation meal look like?
Well, you're supposed to eat like a ton of calories uh and you bulk up. How many pounds do they gain? Uh I mean, it's like substantial. It's three or four hundred pounds that uh that these bears put on before they go and nap for months. I would think you'd have their body just eats away at the fat storage until they uh decide it's warm enough to come back out and they come back all scraggly. Have you seen them coming out of hibernation and they look like they had a good night?
I know I want to so bad. I want to do that.
They look like hello.
I want to have a hibernation feast and just sleep. Okay.
So what do you need? Because you're gonna need carbs.
You're gonna need carbs. You're gonna need some protein.
A bunch of protein. So I'm probably gonna say fiber. A lot of pasta is kind of my thing. Yeah. With with different uh meats. Yeah. Kind of meats. Well, I might do like my my bow tie and my uh sausage. I might do like a chicken with an alfredo. I might do like uh like a what's it a steak bolognese, maybe some kind of different uh, you know, pasta. But different pastas with different mac and cheese.
Sure.
Some mashed potatoes, mac and cheese with pulled pork on there. Yes. I'm not the the the the problem with your potatoes, and I I like potatoes, but that's uh starch that is gonna turn into a sugar, which is gonna burn quick. Okay, so you're gonna want the carbs that are gonna take longer to process.
Okay, okay, forget my mashed potatoes. No, you can have them. How about some what else? You just said pasta and protein. Yep.
Big bowl pasta. Or is that rice burns quick? Okay. That's another starch, yeah. All righty, all right. Um, This is tough. Yeah. I mean, and you can get some fibers in there. You're gonna need some of that to help break up the carbs. You gotta have a good fiber load. And I know you're you're going, but then be careful with your fiber.
But here's the deal. Your hibernation is just not going outside to get food. You're you're you're eating everything now so that you don't have to leave the cave in the cold. Right.
To go find food when it's really difficult to hunt and forage. Right. So it isn't necessarily that you can't use the bathroom. It's just that you're in a cave. It's not gonna be a delightful thing because you know, bears don't really have running plumbing, but I don't know that they care too much. What about some I would care toast. This That sounds nice. Sure. Now you're just listening off foods you want to eat. Yeah, yeah. I think I would want a lot of pasta. Some cookies.
I was just thinking about our daughter made some cookies last night. Oh no. And they're just sitting at home. I know waiting. It's where they should be. I know. They'd be gone if they were here. Okay, well, that's a good hibernation meal. I like your choices.
I just think that's probably the like What about a hamburger? What about it?
Would you want to eat it before you hibernated?
Let's let's look this up. I would want to eat everything. Pizza? Yes. Hamburgers, yes. Tacos, yes. What do you mean? Yes. What are you looking up? Uh the best meals to prepare for hibernation.
That's what I looked up, and it told me mashed potatoes, and you said no on the mashed potatoes.
Well, if if uh nutrient dense, easy. See, they're saying you want to do easy to freeze stuff. I'm talking about like if I want something that I'm like, I'm gonna eat this is too hypothetical.
It's not giving me what I want. You love hypotheticals. Yeah, well, the internet doesn't understand them. And it's too literal, and it's like beef stew, casseroles, baked pastas. So yeah, lasagnas.
Oh, lasagna. Shepherd pie. My daughter last night asked for lasagna. Stews.
Stew. Cozy soups and bakes. Yes. Yeah.
I love stew. Stew.
So that's the big deal. It's gonna be these uh these heavy, rich, comforting, slow cooked dishes, it says. Yeah. That sounds nice. Doesn't that sound nice? Yeah, they gotta be dense. Okay. You know?
I get it. I'll eat it. No way. I'm just Are you hungry? Yeah, I just like food. Yeah. I just really like to eat food. So that's all. I was just every time we get to talk about food, I'm here for it.
Okay. Well, let's get some food going then. And then some hibernation. That sounds awesome. Would you rather this or that?
Would you rather have to use 100 sheets of toilet paper to dry off after a shower? Oh no. Or that stuff falls apart. I know. No thanks. Or use one tiny hand towel. That. That? Yes. Okay.
I'll make the tiny hand towel work. Okay.
It's tiny though. Tiny. Let's say. Uh, hold on. Let me.
Oh, you're getting a tape measure out. Yeah, let's say So a standard a standard washcloth is probably I'd say eight inches square. Okay. Like, so look at eight inches. And then set it down on the on the counter. Okay. Yeah, it's about the size of a washcloth. Okay. In a square. So maybe a little less. Maybe six or seven. That's what I said.
So let's say a two by two. A two by two square. Yep. Of Terry Cloth. Yep.
I'm doing that instead of toilet paper. I'm never going to get that toilet paper to work. It's not going to work. It's not absorbent. It's going to fall apart. Its job is to dissolve in water. Yeah. I'm not doing that.
You're going to have little tiny pieces of toilet paper.
Yeah, I'm not doing that. I'm going to do that. But you get a hundred squares. Cool. I'm using the Terry clock.
50 for the left side, 50 for the right side. Nope. 50 for the top, 50 for the bottom. I'm not doing it. All right.
I'm not doing the toilet paper thing. That's that's crazy.
I'm going to take the toilet paper just because I feel like it could be fun. It's not going to be.
It's going to be a terrible time, and you're going to go, I have to shower again. Uh, give me that two inch towel.
Or you just shake like a dog. Yeah, that could work. That could totally work.
Certainly not using the toilet paper to dry off. That is not gonna happen. All right. So tiny hand towel, it is for me. Toilet paper for me. Would you rather this or that? The summer Olympic games are headed to Los Angeles for 2028. Okay. Uh, which is uh right around the corner. And uh the next summer games will be happening in Brisbane, Australia after that.
So that would be in uh 2032. And there's already some concerns and some talking about some of the logistics because the rowing and canoeing competition both will be held in the Fitzroy River. And uh that is a stretch near the city of Rockhampton. The problem is that the river is home to an estimated 500 saltwater crocodiles.
Oh, no way. Yep. They're gonna have to re-home them, right?
They're gonna have to do something because totally well. Here's the thing. Yeah, the officials downplayed concerns that the crocodiles could see the athletes as food, saying that uh Fitzroy, the river, is already training uh uh as a training and competition venue for flat water sports. What is going on over here?
I'm sorry, sit still, man. I can't.
You got like 700 things going on. I know. I get okay.
Keep going. I'm listening. I promise. I don't even know where I was. It's a training ground.
Okay, the Fitzroy River is a training and competition venue for flat water uh sports. There are school state championships held there, local regattas are held there, uh national team training camps, and so that was what they said when they were like, no, no, no, this water will be perfect for the event. It's already home for all these things. Okay, but then the Olympics were like, dude, there's 500 saltwater crocodiles in here. That's not safe. So yeah, something's gonna have to change.
Salt water crocodiles. Well, yeah. I didn't did I know that was a thing. I don't know what you know. I don't know what I know about crocodiles either.
But uh someone is saying that I bet the athletes will just row faster than they ever have before.
Don't fall out of your boat.
I'm sure I'd row faster. I'm sure all the athletes would row faster. Oh, that's funny.
I kind of think that they are probably just gonna re-hom the crocodiles. Don't you think so? I'm sorry, was that loud? Yes. What are you doing? I don't know. I just get bored with my hands. I'm listening, though. I promise. I am. Okay. What are they gonna do? I don't know. They don't have a plan. I haven't heard the plan. Okay.
I know there's a problem. That's it. I have no options for a solution.
I'm going so quietly now. Okay.
