Government funding is being allocated to two new projects in Northern Ireland, following the first meeting of the new East-West Council.
The Department for the Economy in Northern Ireland has designed two projects that will focus on improving adult literacy and supporting innovation across business respectively.
This will be done thanks to a total of £17.1 million of funding, with the East-West Council being established as part of the paper that was published in January this year – seeing devolution returned to Northern Ireland.

The Scottish Government has announced that it is committing additional investment to projects improving mental health and wellbeing across adults and young people.
Two funds – the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults and the Children and Young People’s Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Supports – will benefit from £15 million each over the course of 2024-25.
Commenting on the funding, First Minister Humza Yousaf said that his government is committed to ensuring that they fund vital mental health services, as well as those in community settings.

Disabled residents are being supported with accessing new opportunities thanks to a new resource launched by Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
Titled Get Online Greater Manchester: For disabled people, the guide will give disabled members of communities access to organisations that can support them as they overcome digital barriers and look to reap the benefits of the opportunities that the digital world has to offer.
Mayor Andy Burnham used the region’s Digital Inclusion Agenda for Change to outline an ambition to become the first city region in the world to equip under 25s, over 75s and those with disabilities with the skills and technology to get online.
