good morning everyone. My name is Don Marquez. This is your insurance connection. Broadcasting right here at KU NV, 91.5 jazz and more. Happy New Year everyone. Hope everyone had a safe holiday. It's Wow. Came and gone that quick, and now we in January. You know, January is a month that everybody makes. I'm gonna make a prediction. I'm gonna do something in my life that's different than I did the last year. I hope your predictions come true. I hope you find out one day that you did what you said you was going to do? You stop smoking if you smoker, or if you want to lose weight. Now's the time, you know, get out and take a walk. The weather is perfect, you know, I like it when it's cool. In Vegas, I don't care for the 115 20 degree weather in the summertime. I like it when it's nice and cool, you know, I do. You can always bundle up a little bit, but in the summertime, he's just too intense. So, you know, make your predictions and follow through. Stick with them. Just don't do it for a couple of months or a month and, you know, make excuses. Get up out of the bed, do your thing. You know, it's that time of the year, 2026, a new year, new year, new experiences. And I'm here on the air right here at KU nv 91.5 jazz or more, bringing you valuable information about insurance products. I'm a licensed insurance agent, and licensed in Nevada, California, Louisiana and Texas. I'm so excited to branch off other states to offer valuable information about insurance I'm a licensed insurance broker offering homeowners insurance, auto insurance, boat, motorcycle and Yes, life insurance. We all need life insurance if you're listening to this program for the very first time. Welcome to the show. I've been on the air right here at KU nv 91.5 jazz and Mora for three years now, and it is a unique opportunity for me to come on the air and talk about insurance related products. This is an educational show, but I do offer the insurance products, and I can write a policy over the phone or or you can meet me in my office. My office is located right on the corner of Sahara in Rancho in the US bank center located on the eighth floor, right on the corner. You can't miss it has US bank on the top, tall brown building. My address is 23 00, West Sahara, on one block west of the I 15, across the street from the palisation Hotel. And on the opposite corner is Chick fil A. I'm on the eighth floor. I work by appointment. 702-236-2624 702-236-2624, is my contact phone number. My business hours are Monday through Friday from 10am to 5pm and on Saturdays, I can't meet you at office anymore when, because now the building is closed, but we can always do business over the phone. 702-236-2624, and if you'd like to email me, my email address is Donald d o, n, a, l, D, dot Marquez, M, A, R, Q, U, E, z@outlook.com, again, that's donal.marquez@outlook.com. You can text me too if you want to make an appointment. Come in, start enough at the beginning of the year. And what is an insurance review? I review all your insurance coverages, your homey auto, if it's a renter's policy, boat, motorcycle, if you have those recreational vehicles. And yes, life insurance. Life insurance is probably the one most review policy I review, because most people don't understand the life insurance contracts when you under a life insurance policy is, it is a contract that you're paying on this policy every single month. And when that day comes, and it comes for all of us, you know you could, you know you want your beneficiaries to receive the benefit that you've been paying for, that you have been paying for for all these years. And don't thank you. I was in the store the other day doing a holiday weekends, and young lady came up to me and she. Was probably in her mid 40s, and she says, too late for me to buy life insurance. I hear you on KU and v all the time. It's too late for me to buy life insurance, right? And she I said, are you 86 she said, No, I'm far from that. I'm only up in my mid 40s. And I said, Well, you never too you long as you're not 86 you're not too old or, you know, it's not too late to purchase life insurance. So don't think you're out of the ballpark. I can find a policy that will fit in your budget. What I like to do is work with your budget. You tell me how much you can afford to pay each month for life insurance, and once you get a life insurance policy, keep it. We'll find out if you tell me I can afford X, Y, Z per month, less than $100 a month. Let's work on that. Let's work on less than $100 a month. Or if you can say, You know what, I want, a larger policy, and this is my budget. Okay, let's work on that. I make it very simple, very easy. You can select a due date on your life insurance premium between the first and the 28th of each month. Like a lot of you like to pick the first or the 15th of each month, which is fine, because some people, you know, especially the ones on Social Security, I understand you get your Social Security benefits probably the third or fourth Wednesday of the month. I get my Social Security benefits too.
Donald Marquez 6:14
Yes, I am a senior citizen, but you know, I know how that works. We We work on a budget. We live on a budget. And it's funny because the seniors, when they contact me, they said, Well, you know, I need a life, life insurance quote, an auto insurance quote, but I'm gonna let you know right now, I live on a budget. They always tell me that, well, don't we all live on a budget? I certainly do live on a budget. I'm still working, and I choose to work. I could retire if I want to, but I don't want to. I love absolutely love what I do. I love talking to people. I like meeting you and going over your insurance policies. It gets me excited, you know, it does, because a lot of times too, I can take people out of very expensive situation with their current policies and reduce the cost of those policies and save them money. And sometimes are from, you know, on your auto insurance, especially, you know, I would say this is, say to use word better coverages, but higher limited liability. Higher limited liability is going to protect you if you're in a car accident and you don't have only the state minimum on your car insurance, it could cause you a lot of trouble down the road, especially if, in fact, it is your fault. If it's your fault you injure people in this car accident, and you don't have enough automobile coverage on your bodily injury on your auto insurance policy. You know these lawyers, they're like sharks today. They're vicious, and they're going after everything that you have, not only your car insurance. If that's not enough, they can attach your personal assets, if you own a home or a business, or if you work and you have a paycheck and don't say, Well, I don't have anything. If you're receiving a benefit, a paycheck every month, that's an asset. So don't ever think it cannot happen to you? It happens to people all the time. I was in a car accident four years ago, and I made I was downtown. I made a left turn. It was dark, it was a lot of signs up. I got completely confused, and I had a head on car collision. Unfortunately, you know, both cars will total out. I thought my car could be repaired, really, but her car was totaled out. The airbag deployed. It was bad. She was pregnant too. I mean, it was bad. I'm, you know, I'm human. I make mistakes. And I made a mistake. I was, you know, fortunately, you know, I wasn't drinking or anything like that. I just made a, you know, a foolish error. Again, it was a lot of construction downtown at that time, I was a little confused. It was dark. I made a left turn, and bam head. I didn't see her coming. And we had a corner, you know, front, front corner collision, you know, my passenger side hit her driver's side, and it was pretty bad. The police officers showed up. They were very nice to me. You know, I claim I was at fault. I'm sorry. I made a mistake. All the signage out here, I just made a mistake. And fortunately, again, I had enough liability protection to protect her, because her lawyer came after me like nobody else. I mean, she came after me. Her lawyer did, and they wanted the full amount of my liability on my life insurance, excuse me, on my auto insurance policy. They wanted the full liability coverage, which I had plenty of coverage to cover the incident, the paramedics showed up, took her and her friend, you know, to the hospital, the emergency room. I apologized her. I said, I'm so sorry. I was just confused over here. And she was a little understanding, but a little disappointed. Her car was totaled out. But, you know, life goes on. It's a car, so you go on. Life goes on. I had enough courage. The reason why I'm bringing this up is because I had enough coverage to cover. That liability damage. It's, you know, it's not so much getting a car repaired, or, you know, replaced those material items. Yeah, we can get a car replace repair. But when someone is injured and they go to the hospital, you're going to quickly find out that discount, life, discount, auto insurance policy that you have is not in your best benefit, because, you know, things do happen. 25,000 per person, 50,000 each accident is probably not enough coverage to cover a serious car accident, if you're at fault and you're involved, or if you someone hits you right and they don't have any insurance, or not enough insurance to cover you and the passengers for bodily injury. Now, if you don't have enough uninsured and under insured motorists on your auto insurance policy, you know you may want to look at readjusting that. Now your bodily injury and your uninsured Motors has to equal, or you can have lesser of the uninsured motors. In other words, for an example, if you have 100,000 per person, 300,000 each accident, $100,000 bodily injury property damage on your auto insurance policy, that is the first line of coverage, the bodily injury property damage, 100,000 per person, 300,000 each accident, your property damage is $100,000 now your uninsured motorist can be less. It could be at $50,000 per person, 100,000 each accident. Now what is uninsured motorist protection? It protects you when someone hits your vehicle without enough car insurance on their current car insurance. It covers you for medical for bodily injury, you and the passengers in the vehicle. It does not cover to repair your car. And a lot of people get this confused, rental car reimbursement is not when you go out of town or you need to rent a rental car. Rental Car reimbursement is when your car is in the repair shop for a covered loss. Now you can go get a rental car, the insurance company will pay for the rental car, and they usually gave you up to 30 days. Now, there are certain allowances. There are certain allowances that will allow you to get a vehicle so you won't be without transportation. However, if you have three cars and there's only two drivers and all three cars are working, you really don't need the rental car reimbursement. Or if you single person would with two cars, and you know, what do you need rental car reimbursement for, and both cars are running, not that, not that car under the tree with no motor in it, no but if you have, if you have two vehicles as one driver in the household, and you have access to both cars, you know, you don't need the rental car reimbursement. That's that's a waste of money. And don't think this is for, well, we, when I go out of town, I could use my rental car reimbursement. No, it's not for that. It is for an accident, a covered loss. Keep that in mind, it's for a covered loss. If your car is in repair shop, you won't be without transportation. This is your insurance connection. My name is Don Marquez, 702-236-2624,
Donald Marquez 13:07
702-236-2624, 2026 let's, let's do some more car shopping now, see if we can reduce that auto insurance policy so you can easily afford the life insurance. Now, if you have life insurance on your job, that's a good thing if you're not paying for it. And I said this over and over again on my program, if you're been if your employer is offering you life insurance three times your salary, and you're not paying for it, take it. But if you are paying for that three times your salary life insurance policy at work, then you have amazing options if you're healthy. Now, if you're not healthy, or if you are, let's say I get a lot of people call me with the diabetes, you know, and if you're a 1c is six or 6.5 or whatever it may be, and you're taking Metformin or insulin, do not think you cannot get life insurance. I insure people out of time, and I even if your a 1c is over seven, whatever it is, I can get your life insurance policy. My contact phone number is 702-236-2624, and one of the unique things about having a life insurance policy, you can coverage. You have coverage for your children. If your children are age 17 years or younger, they are eligible to get a life insurance policy as a writer on your policy. Now, of course, you know there now whatever you're facing out is it is some limits to add children or grandchildren onto your life insurance policy, but there's no physical for the grandchildren and this protection. Once they turn 25 years young, they'll spin off on their own life insurance policy. Hopefully they'll pay the premium and keep it, but it gives you that peace of mind, knowing if anything happens to your young children, you know you have protection. You know life insurance is a four. Affordable. I'm contracted with over 60 life insurance companies. I can find a policy that will fit in your budget. I do have a life insurance company that up to $450,000 there's no no physical exam required up to $450,000 but the most common policy on this company that I offer is a whole life policy, up to $50,000 there's no physical exam required, protection usually starts from day one. Now, there are some provisions in there that you know, if a person comes in, what you know, has a lot of taking a lot of medication, you may be a two year wait period, but not too often, because this company is very liberal when it comes to people that's taking a lot of medication, up to $50,000 in coverage between the age of 40 and 85 years young, up to 50,000 in Whole Life coverage. That means your policy will build cash value over time. Now, what is the cash value? Money that you need in case of an emergency, you can borrow. Now, it does take a while to build it up. I had a young lady signed up. This is about five years ago. I wrote her a life insurance policy. She had a policy for two months, and she called me say, oh, I want to take out a loan on my policy. Well, he only had it for two months. Lady, it takes a while to build up to cash value. Life insurance is a simple it's a simple product. You're buying money. That's all you're doing. You're purchasing money at a low cost. Now go to the bank and say, I want to borrow $100,000 and I want to pay less than $50 a month, or $100 a month. You can't do that, but you can with a life insurance policy. You can say, You know what, I'm gonna take out a policy. I'm gonna pound this monthly premium. You're buying money. And if you add it up now, the whole life policy builds cash value. And some, sometimes people, you know, especially with my older clients, they say, Well, you know, can I cash the policy out at a certain time? Because I'm put so much in it every month, it may equal the face amount, and they're absolutely right. So what you could do, you could withdraw your cash value asset. Now, term has no asset, no cash value asset is just straight death protection. There's no cash value in a term life insurance policy, however, keep in mind $50,000 no physical whole life. Policy only takes them about 20 minutes over the phone, 702-236-2624, 20 minutes can change your life, protect your family. 20 minute application over the telephone is real simple. We take your information over the phone. Your policy arrives in the mail, or you can receive it electronically. I prefer to have the paper out myself. Now, if you have a printer at home where you can print your policy, then you might want it electronically delivered to you, because they can email you the policy. Or once you receive your policy, you go over your policy, and if there's any questions or concerns, you can always pick up the phone and contact me at 702-236-2624, again. My name is Don Marquez. This is your insurance connection, offering you valuable information on auto insurance, life insurance, boat, motorcycle insurance. Now, if you're a biker, yeah, riding your motorcycle. And a lot of people like to ride motorcycles this time of year, which I'm a biker too, as well. I enjoy the cool weather on a motorcycle. It's, you know, it feels good out there, and that fresh air hitting you riding your motorcycle. If you're looking for comparable rates on your motorcycle insurance, I can, I can shop for you on your motorcycle insurance, auto insurance. Definitely a shop for rates on your auto insurance policy. But I want you to keep this in mind, a lot of companies are leaving Nevada when it comes to auto insurance. Unfortunately, I don't you know, there's many different reasons we pay a lot of money for car insurance in the state of Nevada. Every state has this little something. Our something is car insurance. We pay some of the highest rates in the country for auto insurance. So if you come from a little bitty town Midwest, you just moved to Vegas, Welcome to Las Vegas. But you're going to quickly find out our car insurance coverages are a little bit more expensive than probably that small town Midwest you came from. And I don't know why people think, Well, I just came from this little small town. Well, the car insurance should be less in Vegas. It's not, unfortunately, it's not. Now, I cannot write car insurance in California if you're listening to this program, or homeowners insurance in California at this time, but I can offer you life insurance in California, Louisiana, Texas and Nevada, 702-236-2624, now for auto insurance, boat, motorcycle, homeowners insurance. I can write policies in 47 states across the country. Yes, not New York, New Jersey. I can't offer a. Well, homeowners insurance or California, but the rest of the 47 states, I can offer you auto insurance, homeowner's insurance, renter's insurance policy. Now, if you have a life insurance policy and you say to yourself, well, it's getting a little expensive, you know, I need to cut down on my budget. I just retired instead of canceling your policy, because you're throwing your money away when you do that, you've paid on your policy for quite some time. You're throwing your money away when you cancel your life insurance policy. Keep that in mind. What you can do, you can reduce the face amount. And what do I mean by you throwing your money away? Because if you cancel your let's say you've had your policy for five years, right? And you're paying into it, and then all of a sudden, you know, well, you find yourself retired, or your income has been reduced, or things do change in your life where you need that extra income, you know, reduce the face amount of the life insurance policy once you cancel your policy. And if there's no cash value asset in the policy, let's say, for example, if you have a term life or Universal Life, and The Universal Life has not built cash value, you just gave the life insurance company five years of your hard earned money, and you lose that benefit, right? It's not a good idea to cancel a policy. Once you get a policy, keep it, because term has no cash value. As I said earlier in the program, it has no cash value once you term, once you term out on that policy, you call the company up say, I want to cancel my term insurance. And if you paid it on on it for five years, then the life insurance company keeps that money. They do. So what are you doing? You can reduce the face amount instead of, instead of canceling the policy, you know, look at your options. Reduce the face amount to something you can't afford. That is an option on the table. A lot of people don't know it. Now, if you need a transfer of ownership, what is that? Now, if you have a loved one, Alzheimer's, dementia, organic brain syndrome, als Lou Gehrig's disease, and they cannot maintain the policy for themselves. In other words, let's say they're paying on the policy and they have to go into a nursing home for whatever reason. Now, you could transfer of ownership before, before they go into the nursing home, because whatever assets they may have the nursing home may take that asset, and a life insurance policy is an asset. So you as as they probably their power of attorney. You know you want to transfer of ownership the life insurance policy in your name. Now that person still will be insured, but now the nursing home cannot attach that asset to a benefit for them, because my understanding is, when a person goes in a nursing home, not only they give up all the income to the nursing home, but their assets too. And the life insurance policy is an asset, regardless of its term, Universal Life or whole life. I think the nursing home, and I've heard this many times, they can attach themselves to all of your assets, including including a life insurance policy. You definitely want to transfer an ownership change your beneficiary. If you're divorced,
Donald Marquez 23:10
and this happened quite often, you don't want your ex spouse on your life insurance policy. You need to contact your life insurance company and request a change a beneficiary form, they can email it to you now. You need a printer to print the beneficiary. Beneficiary change form. You need to print it now, if you don't have a printer, you want to have a mail it to you because you cannot fill it in online, because you do need to sign it, and they don't do e docs on the beneficiary change form. You have to sign it, send it in, because this happens all the time. I could tell you a quick story. You know, one of my clients came in. You know, she heard this program at KU nv 91.5 and she explained to me that, you know, her ex husband got remarried. You know, he got remarried, never he added his ex wife on the policy. Unfortunately, things happened, and he passed, and the ex wife was a beneficiary of the policy. Well, she, she told me, she, I don't know why she put the ex wife on there, but she had three children by her ex husband, and she felt like she was, you know, taken advantage of, because that money should want to her. It was a significant amount of it was a significant policy, and she felt like that policy should have been hers, because she paid on it. And she was asking me, Is anything she could do? And there's really absolutely nothing he could do because, you know, he changed the beneficiary, or if you do have a life insurance policy, and your beneficiary is your ex spouse, but you never change the name, right? And they get remarried, you know, things can go left field real quick, or if the beneficiary has passed and, you know, and that that's only one beneficiary on the policy, because sometimes this happens to see. Years, there's only one beneficiary on the policy, and that beneficiary passed before the insured individual passed. That could cause problems when that, when the named insured passes, because now the policy could go into probate, right? Because when, when the loved ones take the policy in to the to the funeral home and say, you know, my grandfather had a policy, but my grandmother passed 10 years ago, and he never changed the beneficiary. Well, his primary beneficiary, she was at 100% cheap I passed 10 years ago that could cause problems. The reason why I come on the radio is to help you better understand insurance. Now I do not charge for a an insurance review to come in and see me, we can talk about your policies, get you updated, especially on your life insurance, to make sure your policy is in good standing. Now, if you any necessary changes that need to be made, or if you need to get out of that policy altogether, let's have a real conversation about making sure your policy is up to date because a lot of you have purchased life insurance through the mail, which I don't recommend that, because it does not come with an insurance agent to guide you step by step through the process what you just purchased, and if you have accidental only life insurance, accidental only life Insurance only pays for accident travel, accidental only life insurance only pays if you're traveling and there's an accident and you pass as a result of an accident, DO NOT PURCHASE accidental only life insurance policies because they don't pay for natural causes. And I understand you said yourself, you know, I gotta, need to get something. Now, you know, this came in the mail. It came from my credit union. It looks pretty good. You know my credit union. I've been with my credit union for a long time, and this is the stories I get, and this is why I purchased this accidental only policy. Well, if you don't die from an accident, it doesn't pay for natural causes. I know it's a lot of insurance for low cost, but, but keep in mind, if you're in a car accident, and you think, well, if I'm in a car accident, it'll pay, no, it won't. A lot of those accidental life insurance policies exclude car accident for more information. My name is Don Marquez. This is your insurance connection. 702-236-2624, 702-236-2624, 2236, 2624 my business hours are Monday through Friday, from 10am to 5pm and I'm located right on the corner of Sahara Rancho in the US bank center. Work by appointment again, 702-236-2624, everyone enjoy 2026 we'll do this again next week. Until then, just keep it crispy. You.
