What is ...But God?

A weekday morning devotional series written by Aaron Marcarelli and hosted by Chad McBeam

“For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them. It has happened to them according to the true proverb, “A dog returns to its own vomit,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.””
2 Peter 2:20-22 NASB2020
We can’t have our feet in two worlds. We can’t be of the world and in the world and then go to church on Sunday and get clean, that is not how it works. If we are like that Jesus says in the book of Revelation he will vomit us out of His mouth. “‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth.”
Revelation 3:15-16 NASB2020
James puts it like this…“But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not just hearers who deceive themselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who has looked intently at the perfect law, the law of freedom, and has continued in it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an active doer, this person will be blessed in what he does.”
James 1:22-25 NASB2020
We must be hearers and doers of the word. We must be witnesses in the world for the living Christ without getting caught up it the tomfoolery and shenanigans of the world.
Therefore, We must be in the world and not of the world proclaiming the name of Jesus and His saving grace by both word and deed. Jesus said to His disciples “I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another.”
John 13:34-35 NASB2020
This is the call, this is how we affect the game and continue to present the gospel word in truth and love, running the race He has set out for us.
Good and gracious Lord, we thank you for using us in the fight against the devil. Help us to continue to fight with love and compassion. Give us strength to remain in you while we are in the world. Help us use the power of your Holy Spirit so that your will be done and that our family, friends and co-workers who do not know you will seek and follow you! We pray all these things in Jesus name, Amen…
