Challenging myself to record a podcast episode a day for my 50th year on this planet.
Hello, and welcome to the Dailyish
for Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026.
I'm recording an episode every day
for this, my 50th year on the planet.
First up, Dailyish on YouTube.
a few folks replied and said they would
possibly check out the video version
if it was on YouTube, and so I just
decided to go for it and make it public.
There's a playlist in the show notes.
You can link to that if you want, if you
wanna subscribe to the show on YouTube.
It's in what YouTube
calls a podcast playlist.
You-- I think you can subscribe to just
that playlist if you want to, so you don't
need to have, you know, podcasting or
Mac audio video tutorials in your YouTube
algorithm if that's not really your thing.
again, no promises that every
episode will be in video form.
There's a bunch of early episodes
that definitely aren't in video form.
Uh, but whenever I'm able to flip
the camera on and record and edit
quickly, just doesn't slow me down,
I'll publish a video version as well.
So hello to anyone watching on YouTube.
Maybe leave a comment down below about,
uh, your favorite thing about fall.
Try that, see if that
generates the, uh, clicks.
The other thing I forgot on Monday's
episode is that I was gonna do mailbag
episodes on Monday, so I'm gonna do that
today on Wednesday and hopefully pick
that up again next, next week on Monday
First up, Justin Jackson had asked me
if that was me playing guitar at the
beginning of the episode, and it is.
I recorded a little, couple
little intros, options, and
sort of messed around with that.
Kind of inspired by, um, Mike Birbiglia's,
uh, Working It Out podcast where he
has, uh, Jack Antonoff, I think, and
his band Bleachers that did an intro
or just acoustic-y singing intro,
but kind of went simpler than that.
But just kind of like a analog, very
human touch as opposed to sort of a
digital loop prerecorded kind of thing.
So hope you like it.
I kind of like it each time I
hear it, so not sick of it yet,
and I've listened to all of them.
Uh, Harold answered my question I
mentioned in passing when I said
something about soup to nuts, and, uh,
he replied in multiple locations for
me to understand that, uh, it's because
the first course of the meal was soup
and the last course was nuts, allegedly.
I haven't verified that, so I'm
just trusting that he's not, uh,
punking me with that information.
on Blue Sky said, "I am
really enjoying your podcast.
I get a couple episodes in between
the longer shows they follow,
and it's a bit of a breather, but
they're always interesting and fun."
They've listened to longer shows from
me, but they do really enjoy this format.
So thank you for that feedback.
And yeah, I've done in the past
longer shows, uh, especially like
with a co-host and things like that.
A little hard to do longer
ones solo, but, uhâ¦
And I'm trying to keep the
10-minute time limit intact.
I'm not like hard and fast on that.
If something happens where, uh, yeah,
there's just a conversation that goes
longer, it's not the end of the world.
But I do try and keep them short just
for the purposes of a daily podcast.
It would become very, uh,
whatever the word is, laborious.
That's not the right word, but to keep
up with a daily podcast that's, you
know, half hour, hour-long episodes.
@ on Microblog, and I think on Blue Sky as
well, said, uh, "I really like Dailyish.
It's becoming part of my morning routine
when I'm waiting to open at work.
I just stay a couple days
behind, so it works out."
Oh, and they found it on Blue Sky.
Yeah, that's what I just thought.
I think they're on Microblog as well
Just to circle back quickly on the YouTube
idea, it's kind of this thing that's
fun to put it out on, on video form.
I know the videos are gonna
get 10 views or whatever.
Like, it's not gonna be some sort of,
like, huge audience building opportunity.
But there is something about, I don't
know if it's just, like, being on
YouTube feels legit in the way that
podcasts don't feel quite as legit.
No, no, uh, disrespect to my
fellow podcasters out there.
Um, it's kinda like being on, you know,
TV instead of radio maybe or something
like that in back in the day when we used
to all listen to radio and watch actual
TV And the discoverability is just, like
I said in a previous episode, kinda crazy
on YouTube as compared to anything else.
But audio-focused, audio-first podcasting
is still where my passion lies, and
that's definitely what the focus of
Dailyish, these Dailyish episodes
are gonna, is gonna be going forward.
But yeah, having a little fun with
the YouTube format as well and just
seeing, seeing what goes on and how,
how it might be, get discovered.
if you subscribe to my YouTube channel
for tutorials and things and you're
wondering why this thing is suddenly
appearing in, in your feed maybe,
uh, I apologize for it not being a
tutorial and sort of Mac audio focused.
It is kinda like adjacent to that because
I'm learning, editing, processing, coming
up with different routines and processes
for editing podcasts while I'm doing
this as kind of a way, a vehicle for me
to experiment with the podcasting format
on my own stuff rather than having to
experiment on clients' projects that
aren't always, uh, is, is not always
feasible or efficient to do that.
So hopefully you stick around.
Uh, and if not, I understand why
you might have to unsubscribe from
the YouTube channel as a result.
Everyone say hi to Neville if
you're watching on YouTube.
He's curled up again having a sleep
