Good morning Daily Peppers, and a very happy Tuesday to you. We talk a lot around here about self kindness, compassion and getting ourselves through the day. And today we are doing a little bit of a refresher of some of those things that you need to keep going. Now it is so tempting to spend so much of our time on thinking up new exciting projects, on establishing new routines and thinking about where we want to go when it comes to self care. We can think of some pretty elaborate setups and it can be really helpful to think about what lights you up and what drains you and create a whole thing around that. And I really do encourage it. But one of the things I think we can really tend to overlook and also forget the importance of is the really boring basics. And I'm talking about things like making sure you're hydrated, making sure that you take the medication you need and you've got enough of it.You get some fresh air if you're able to, and you do a bit of a tidy up of your surroundings. Now I want to be fully transparent with you and tell you that this is stuff I seriously struggle with. Tell me to do a daily podcast and I am on it. Tell me to take medication every day. Now that feels like a bit of a mountain. And I share this to take any of the shame away from it. We all tend to struggle with the boring basics because they are not as nice and shiny, they're not as exciting, and as Marie Kondo would put it, they probably don't spark joy, but that doesn't make them any less important. Now we can make them more fun, but I don't quite want to go down that rabbit hole just now because I think it can become another project and something to work on and take away from the fact that sometimes we just need to do these things.So I'm popping in with a reminder today to remind you of the boring basics and also to give you space to do a bit of a mental check in with them. What things haven't you done that you probably need to do? Is there anything you need to organize life admin wise? And if nothing else, just take a quick drink as you listen to this. This is not about beating ourselves up or having shame for struggling with these things or not doing them. It's just about seeing if you can do one of those boring things right now or plan it in for later in the day. These things may not be as exciting as all the rabbit holes we tend to go down, but they also tend to make the rabbit holes we go down a lot more fulfilling and satisfying. Because we probably feel a bit better when we've got the basics covered. So do what you can do today. Remember that you are worthy, no matter what.You deserve compassion all of the time. And you're also doing so much better than you think. I'll see you tomorrow. And I can't wait to see you then.
