Speaker 1:

Senate candidate visits MSU Democrats for town hall initiative. My goal is to engage with young people about what we want for our future. On his tenth college town hall visit, senate candidate Abdul Al Saeed visited MSU to discuss his policy views and campaign with MSU Democrats on Tuesday in Wilson Hall. Al Saeed opened with a speech on his upbringing, discussing how his background in medicine and public health inspired his road to politics. After realizing the correlation between the physical well-being of the population and policy, El Saeed explained his newfound passion in supporting medicine on the governmental side more than the hospitality side.

Speaker 1:

After discussing his background, El Saeed described his policy measures and his goal if elected along with prioritizing tax cuts for billionaires and expanding health care accessibility through Medicare for all. Al Saeed spoke on his passion for speaking truth from the start in the Gaza Israel war. El Saeed pushes to label the war a genocide, expressing how he hopes to create a world where twenty thousand child casualties will never happen again. MSU Women's Soccer grateful for home field edge in NCAA second round. Heading into the second round of the NCAA tournament, number nine MSU Women's Soccer is looking to capitalize on its home field advantage when it comes to host RV Wake Forest on Thursday, November 20 at 6PM.

Speaker 1:

In Michigan in November, though home field advantage is about more than just the fans, it's about the weather, sleeping in their own beds, and staying in routine. Training in the freezing rain, the Spartans see their season extending well into November as a blessing rather than a chore. The cold not only builds resilience but gives MSU hope heading into matchups against teams that might not be accustomed to the weather whereas the Spartans are. MSU men's basketball dominates number 12 Kentucky in champions classic. In New York, go green, go white echoed throughout Madison Square Garden after Kentucky head coach Mark Pope called a timeout down 20 points with five minutes remaining.

Speaker 1:

The timeout served as a white flag and signaled a statement victory for Michigan State in the champions classic. The Spartans outdid Kentucky in every facet of the game in the 83 to 66 win. This included three point shooting which was widely considered an advantage for the Wildcats entering the matchup on Tuesday. Spartan senior for Jackson Kohler led all scores with 20 points with a mix of work in the post and he knocked down two three pointers which ignited the Spartans offense. This week in practice, we've been shooting very well and the key in this game is to have confidence in your shot And I feel like everyone had that, Kohler said.

Speaker 1:

The Spartans first 12 points came from the perimeter and they matched their season high total of six makes with six fifty one remaining in the first half. It was a group effort for the Spartans. The Wildcats rely on their depth of talent, but it was the MSU bench that outscored the Wildcats 34 to 18. MSU basketball, one of 16 teams set to appear in NBA two k twenty six. Michigan State men's basketball players will soon be heading from the Breslin Center to My Park and the two k universe after the video games company confirmed the team's addition to the popular franchise.

Speaker 1:

Earlier this week, two k Games stopped by East Lansing for MSU players to become embedded in the popular video game series NBA two k. In May, Cohen Carr's dunk animation was chosen to be included in NBA two k twenty six. After a flight to San Francisco, developers dressed Carr in a motion capture suit and had him do what he does best, dunk the basketball. His animation is now inside this year's game and players can use it on breakaway slams of their own. Thank you for joining us for The State, produced by The State News and Impact eighty nine FM.
