Maya Chen: And the response was striking. OpenCode, the open-source alternative, crossed 157,000 active developers this week. That's not a fringe project anymore — that's a serious hedge against vendor lock-in.

James Okafor: Here's why this changes everything. Developers aren't rejecting Claude — most of them still use it as the underlying model. What they're rejecting is the managed harness. They want to swap models, route requests, and own the orchestration layer themselves.

Maya Chen: The data tells a different story than Anthropic's keynote suggested. Their pitch was that managed tooling reduces operational overhead. But OpenCode's growth curve — roughly tripling since January — says enterprises are willing to absorb that overhead to keep optionality.

Maya Chen: Hygieia integrates phenotypic features, genetic profiles, and clinical records through a router-based framework. The architecture is designed to reduce hallucination by tailoring strategies to disease category, and it produces confidence scores alongside its outputs.

James Okafor: The confidence scoring is the part clinicians care about most. They don't want a black box telling them what's wrong. They want a tool that flags uncertainty and points to which genomic factors drove the recommendation.

Maya Chen: The paper claims state-of-the-art performance across multiple diagnostic benchmarks. Worth noting the caveats here — benchmark performance and clinical performance are different things. Real-world validation across diverse patient populations is the next bar.
