Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.
The plant, the child, grows by receiving from its surroundings that
which ministers to its life—air, sunshine and food. What these gifts of
nature are to animal and plant, such is Christ to those who trust Him.

Across the globe, families sing Christmas carols in the
snow and hang stockings by the fire, but the sweet summer heat of
Christmas morning in Australia has something else in mind. Seagulls
swoop over the never-ending sand as the gentle waves lap against
the shore. The warm Aussie sun starts to shine as the beach begins to
bustle. Snowmen are replaced with sandcastles, and hot chocolate is
forgotten as “eskies” (coolers) full of soda spot the beach.
The salty sea breeze blows across your face as you try to
assemble some sort of shaded area to protect the picnic equipment.
Children run to the water trying to escape the call of their mothers who
hold the dreaded sunscreen. Laughter abounds as the waves crash,
occasionally dumping an unsuspecting victim. A rowdy game of cricket
on the sand is followed by the announcement that lunch is ready.
Racing to the shade, families gather together as they pass
out disposable plates and cups. Hot dogs and other barbecued goods
make up the menu, served alongside a bountiful supply of chips and
cold salads. The Christmas chatter and constant chewing continue as
the meal progresses while the sun carefully creeps through the shade.
Some tan on their towels, others hit the surf, and still others await
the melodious call for dessert. The salt of the seawater is relieved by
the cool sweetness of ice cream and a traditional pavlova. Settling
down for a siesta, the last part of the afternoon consists of more rest,
recreation, and relaxation.
The joys of fresh air, sunshine, and food are wonderful gifts
from God our Father, but none of these treasures even begin to
compare with what He is preparing for us in heaven. “Eye has not
seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the
things which God hath prepared for them that love Him” (1 Corinthians
2:9 NKJV). Eternal joy and peace is what I can look forward to with
Christ as my Saviour.
