Speaker 1:

Speaker 2: Welcome to Podwiz by Wizako, your ultimate guide to GRE success. I'm Wizara.

Speaker 3: And I'm Wiston. Today we're diving into some must know information about the GRE.

Speaker 4: That's right. Since September 2023, the GRE has gotten a major makeover. And trust me, it's all good news for test takers.

Speaker 5: Shorter, more streamlined, but still packing the same punch when it comes to testing your skills. Let's break it down, shall we?

Speaker 6: First up, the analytical writing assessment. Remember when we had to write two essays? Well, those days are gone.

Speaker 7: Now it's just one essay. The analysis of an issue. 30 minutes to show off your critical thinking and persuasive writing skills.

Speaker 8: Moving on to verbal reasoning. You've got two sections now. The first one is 18 minutes with 12 questions. And the second is 23 minutes with 15 questions. That's a total of 27 questions in 41 minutes.

Speaker 9: And don't forget about quant. Similarly structured with two sections. First one's 21 minutes with 12 questions, followed by 26 minutes with 15 questions. You've got more time for math. 47 minutes to solve 27 questions.

Speaker 10: Here's what's really cool about the GRE - it's section Adaptive. Your performance in the first section determines the difficulty of your second section.

Speaker 11: Exactly. Do well in your first section and you'll get a tougher second section. Which is actually good news for your overall score.

Speaker 12: Hey Wiston, want to play a quick game? Let's do a rapid fire Q and A session.

Speaker 13: Bring it on, Wizara. Hit me with your best shot.

Speaker 14: Does the section order stay the same for everyone?

Speaker 15: Nope. Only AWA is fixed at the start. Everything else can shuffle. But section one of verbal or quant always precedes section two. Rather obvious, isn't it?

Speaker 16: Can you skip questions and come back?

Speaker 17: Absolutely. Just keep an eye on that timer.

Speaker 18: What if you don't finish your essay in time?

Speaker 19: Whatever you've written gets auto submitted. Wrap up two minutes early for a final check.

Speaker 20: Is the 118 minute duration the total test time?

Speaker 21: Yes, indeed. Straight through, no breaks.

Speaker 22: Last one. Any difference between at home and center based tests?

Speaker 23: Same format, different environment. Before I say just pick what works for you, here's the caveat. Not all programs accept the at home version. Check your target school's preference before you make your choice.

Speaker 24: Excellent job, Wiston. You've got me fired up.

Speaker 25: If I were you, I will take a diagnostic test before I venture into any serious GRE prep. Wizako has a free GRE diagnostic test. You can take the test at Wzko.Pro/Diagnostic. That is Wzko.Pro/ Diagnostic. What's more, you get an AI assisted evaluation of your performance. A first step to starting your GRE journey.

Speaker 26: And that's a wrap. Thanks for joining us on Podwiz. Remember to subscribe for more GRE tips and tricks.

Speaker 27: Until next time, this is Wiston and Wizara signing off.

Speaker 28: Keep crushing those GRE goals.
