Welcome to WORDTheatre Weekly, your access to the best short stories read by great actors. My name is Cedering Fox, I'm WordTheatre’s Founder and Artistic Director, and together with Kirsty Peart, UK Founder and Creative Partner, we have been producing live events featuring great actors and authors bringing short stories to life in Los Angeles, NY, And London for more than 20 years!

On July 16th, 2024, at The Players, a private club on Gramercy Park in Manhattan, WORDTheatre will feature a wonderful cast of actors who will be performing selections from There is Happiness, a posthumous collection of stories by the late Brad Watson being released by W.W. Norton on that very day! Brad was a marvelous author who, like the writer whose stories you will be hearing today, died much too young. In the lead-up to the July 16th event, we thought it would be nice to share other stories performed by some of the actors who will be performing on July 16th. Today we will put the spotlight on Bellamy Young who will step into three stories by the late, great Brian Doyle. Bellamy, whom you know from the popular television series Scandal, is a frequent participant in WORDTheatre events, and she will be both singing and acting in the Brad Watson Tribute on July 16th so if you are anywhere near Manhattan, please visit WORDTheatre.org and pick up your tickets today. WORDTheatre's series at the Players is sponsored by Randy & Jane Sinisi and Phipen Studios| Post Production with a state-of-the-art post-production facility in New Jersey. PHIPHEN Post. WORDTheatre® Members, if you live far away, you will be able to screen the event in your Members Area once it is edited and posted!

The first story you will hear is Bellamy Young performing Brian Doyle's Pushcart Prize-winning story, The Hawk. Brian was in the room to experience her lovely reading.

Next, we have Bellamy reading Mr. Kim, which has also been titled Room Two.

Our third and final story will make you smile, Finger of Speech.

After the readings

We hope you enjoyed these three stories by Brian Doyle performed by Bellamy Young. You can pick up Brian's books at Bookshop.org/shop/wordtheatre/ and if you are anywhere near Manhattan on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024, please join Bellamy, me, and others at The Players for what promises to be an unforgettable evening of BRAD WATSON''s stories. Simply visit WORDTheatre.org for more information.
