Karis Reneé: [00:00:15] Welcome back to Fashion Files With Cares, Renee. I'm your host Cares Renee, and I'm so happy to have you here with us. Okay, so y'all. Season one. It's a [00:00:30] wrap. Can y'all believe it? I can't. I can't believe it happened so quickly. So this episode, we're gonna kind of wrap up Season one. We're gonna talk about some of the things that happened during season one and kind of recap. And in [00:00:45] addition, I'm gonna give you guys something to stick with until we get to season two. So we're gonna talk about some fashion inspiration for this winter season. Okay? So let's go ahead and get into it.

[00:01:00] starting first, let's talk about some of the seasonal colors that you can use and some of your looks as you're getting dressed for the winter. So some of our seasonal colors are colors, like cool [00:01:15] blues, icy grays. Dusty Pinks. Y'all know that's where I'm gonna be and just things that are a little more muted, but still introducing some color.

Y'all know I'm a color girl, so I'm gonna always tell y'all to introduce some color somewhere, but it can be a [00:01:30] little more muted. Another thing that I, I also like for winter. Is introducing jewel tones. You can always do color with jewel tone, like emerald amethyst and things of that sort. If you wanna have like [00:01:45] certain pops of colors, even with your more muted tones, right?

Even if you're not like, I wanna do neutrals. Throw a pop of color in there. Okay. Whether it's with your jewelry, your statement pieces, your shoes, or a bag. 'cause y'all know I love bags, so [00:02:00] throw a nice Kelly Green bag in there. Or emerald green purse or something like that. Okay.

All right, let's also talk about layering. So of course, if you live anywhere I live, you know, it could be 80 degrees tomorrow, and then the next day it could be 50. [00:02:15] So layering is a good way to be able to incorporate, um, some trends and also stay warm. Or stay cool. Right? So kind of similar to what, like what I'm wearing today.

I have on this this is actually a [00:02:30] dress, but let's call it a button down, for lack of better words. I have a button down under this, um, this dress, and so it's kind of layered. So for some reason I was out during the day and I got hot. I could take this off and just put it one of my jackets [00:02:45] over it so that I'm not as hot and I have a little bit more skin out, right?

So layer your pieces, right? You can layer your statement codes, you can layer a cardigan or a jacket. Um, but just different ways to be able to layer your pieces so that you [00:03:00] can stay, like I said, warm, but also look fashionable. You know what I mean? This is the, the best time to layer items.

Okay, and so that brings us into our statement outerwear. We've talked about this before. Throw on that herringbone coat or your hounds tooth [00:03:15] coat, or a leopard fur coat, faux fur. Of course, I have one and I can't wait to wear it in the winter. Now it's not always cold enough where I am to wear it, but when I go somewhere, that is, I love to pull it out.

Or sometimes if you are a fashion girl [00:03:30] or boy or whomever, like. You put on a piece and it's because it's part of your outfit, so you're gonna wear it regardless. It don't matter if it's hot or cold. This is a part of your look, and so you are committed to making that look work [00:03:45] regardless of the temperature.

So yeah, get those statement coats out, whether it's a nice long trench or it's a short moto jacket, but this is the time to, to wear your statement outwear. Okay.

Now the thing that I love [00:04:00] most about the winter season is a good thigh high boo. as you see, I have one on today. So I love thigh high boots. This is boot season. So your thigh high boots, your ankle boots.

Your calf boots. Pull out [00:04:15] your boot. Because this is the time to wear them. Right? Make your boot your statement like this is a statement boot. Here I have these nice gold safety pins as the statement item on this thigh high boot. Um, so yeah, so this is your time to pull [00:04:30] out those boots. A special tip that I have is buy your boots at the end of the season for the next year.

Don't worry about trends, it'll still be in, it's about how you wear it anyways. But I always find the [00:04:45] best deals for my boots at the end of the winter season, like as we're headed into spring when things go on sale and I hold 'em until the next season. Like these I bought last year. I haven't worn them.

This is probably my first time wearing them now. Did you know that? [00:05:00] No. You wouldn't have known unless I told you. So bring out those statement boots, whether they're a thigh high or a ankle booty. So I love ankle boots as well. So whichever height level you love, bring them out.

and last but not least, for your [00:05:15] awareness style. Of course, your accessories. So of course during the cooler months, you want to add like a statement scarf or a cute little scarf that you can wear over your head and tie around your neck, or just something that is light or add like a. A knitted [00:05:30] beret like I have, like this one has like pearl details, but you can wear even a simple beret, but add your accessories to also complete your look.

So your winter accessories, scarves, um, hats, berets gloves, [00:05:45] even. I have some cute like little cutoff leather gloves that I just wear. They're warm, but they're also cute and fashionable. So add your accessories. Don't forget about those 'cause they can also tie your look together, but also keep you warm.

Okay. And so you're gonna [00:06:00] take those winter pieces and how you're gonna transition them into fall is you're gonna go back to the trend or the tip that I told you earlier. Layer. So to go from winter into spring, still wear your looks, but start introducing some spring [00:06:15] looks. So some of those spring trends we talked about, like sheer fantasy and things of that sort and layer them with your winter coats or with your fall jackets, you know, and that's how you can kind of transition.

From winter into spring. [00:06:30] So I can't wait to see your looks. Be sure to tag us in them. Use the hashtag fashion vow so we can see them and possibly feature 'em on your next, on our next episode. So let me see those looks. I wanna see these winter inspirational looks and let me [00:06:45] know which tip you decided to use that we talked about.

All right, now moving right along, let's go ahead and get into a recap of some of the things that we talked about and did for season one.

to start off, let's talk about the guests that we [00:07:00] had on season one. So we had my girl, Andre, love her down. She came and gave us some more stylist secrets. We recapped some of her stylist moments, her red carpet moments. Um, she had recently styled someone for the VMAs and we were [00:07:15] able to talk about that.

We played a few games and I loved that episode with her so much. And we talked about some of her styles. So all of my tomboy sheep girls, y'all loved Ires, so shout out to her. All right. And also we had my [00:07:30] girl, Jessica George, who is a seamstress and shoe designer, and we got to talk about some of her journey as us.

A seamstress and shoe designer and the things that she's going to be doing in the future and launching her new shoe collection. So I hope you guys [00:07:45] enjoy both of our guests. Super thankful to them for coming on the podcast. Thank you ladies so much, and I can't wait for you guys to see the guests that are gonna be coming in the upcoming season in season two.

So stay tuned.

Okay, [00:08:00] so let's talk about some of the things that y'all were talking about on social media and some of the moments that stood out to y'all in some of the episodes. So I took a few screenshots from social media, so we're just gonna go through some of the comments and I told y'all [00:08:15] that. Some of your comments might be highlighted on the episode, and so this is the episode, so let's see what y'all were talking about.

So first up, let's see, we talked about sequins and I talked about how sequins are for every occasion and you can wear them to the [00:08:30] mailbox, and a lot of you agreed with me, so sequins everywhere. Ooh, I love hearing this. I have a closet full of sparkles at specially shoes and dresses. I love that. I'm glad that you guys resonated with me.

And so I wanna see those [00:08:45] sequence no matter what time it is or where you're going sequence all day long day and night. Okay. All right. Next up. Of course, we talked about being a maximalist or a minimalist. I had a few of y'all that [00:09:00] were very dead set on being a minimalist. Cues. My producer Erica, AKA, my best friend, um, Erica said, on everything very much minimalist is very much giving, very mindful, very demure.

Okay? I said [00:09:15] every time I'm a very much a maximalist, but I had some other people who also agree with me. My closet is chaotic. I'm a little bit of both depending on my mood. Sometimes I'm a maximalist and sometimes I'm a minimalist, but I definitely love a good statement piece.

That's where my girl, [00:09:30] Candace, I get you. Candace. I can be, well, no. I really do try to be a minimalist sometimes, but it never works. I always go overboard, so yeah. All right. What else do we have? So we talked about bows. Of [00:09:45] course, that was one of our trends for the upcoming spring season. So you guys said, I love bows.

Whenever I see bows, I think of Princess Diana's wedding dress. What an iconic moment, right? Yeah. Bows for the win for [00:10:00] sure. We also talked about combining aesthetics, and in addition to that, we talked about Bowes, and Andre talked about during her episode how much she also loved Bowes, and so we got a new hashtag for Bowes and instead [00:10:15] of BDE, which if you know, you know, I'm not gonna say on here, we got BBE, which is Big Boat Energy.

Okay? Now we of course talked about some controversial things. So skinny [00:10:30] jeans was the first one up, right? And so I asked you guys like what are the things that, the trends that you think have died out or that you can't stand to see? And a lot of you guys agree with skinny jeans as well. Um, that was IRA's call out.

I told y'all [00:10:45] I still wear skinny jeans sometimes, but we also talked about our love for cargo jeans. But somebody also said that they love. Low rod jeans, my girl, Dina, and I agree. I cannot stand the Britney Spears jeans. Sorry. Love Britney Spears, but the low rod jeans, [00:11:00] it's a no. And maybe that's just, anyways, And oh, Erica, again, a highlight from her. She also said, yo, I love skinny jeans. Thinking I outgrew them now. And that's okay. It could be something that you previously loved, but maybe not so much [00:11:15] now. Now speaking of also controversies, now y'all try to eat me up. These comments on TikTok with these tabby boots or Tabby shoes.

Y'all ate me down. There were a lot of people that agree with me. Honestly, most [00:11:30] people agree with me when I said that they looked like horse feet. Horse feet, right? [00:11:45] A lot of people agree with me. There were so many other things that people compared them through. Two people said they were Satan shoes. Like let me, lemme pull up the comments actually.

'cause y'all really, y'all went in on [00:12:00] these comments. LOL Horse Feet. I hate 'em too, but I want a pair. I love my tabby boots. It's shark boots for me. It gave me marching band vibes. Then some of y'all was talking about bubble skirts. Oh my God. I didn't even know really what that trend [00:12:15] was going around, but now I do, and y'all really.

Y'all don't like that either. So a lot of people were saying they didn't like bubble skirts on this episode as well. I mean, on this um, this post as well, love me some Tabby shoes. I do. I don't wanna walk around looking like the [00:12:30] devil. You, me, sane. I mean, it just goes on and on. The girls that get it, get it.

Like there were a lot of people that were eating me up with that was like, you can't be a fashion girly if you don't like tabby shoes. And I'm sorry, but I'm still a fashion girly, so [00:12:45] I don't know what to tell you. That's why I say that. Fashion is subjective and it's okay to like something that somebody else doesn't like or to, to not like something that somebody else does because it's about how you wear it and how you put it on.

So if you are a [00:13:00] fashion girly and you love your tabby shoes or your tabby boots, rock on sus, but I'm not putting them on and I'm gonna stand 10 toes down on that. [00:13:15] [00:13:30] [00:13:45] All right, so we also talked about the coach bags and how much we love those, and y'all agree with that Next bag Coach Empire, like [00:14:00] I can't wait to get me one of those coach bags. I'm definitely getting one. Okay. Also, we talked about some of our stylist moments like Colin Carter and La Roach, and so. Um, I had some comments about [00:14:15] that and I'm not gonna repeat all of those, but if you go to social media you can see.

But we have some people that love Colin Kotter. We have people that love La Roach. So there was love for both. There was definitely some comparisons there. And I don't think we really need to compare them 'cause I think that they are [00:14:30] both great at what they do. Right.

Oh, and another thing y'all loved my blazer. My blazer that I was wearing in one of my episodes. I think it was episode one and two. Um, the, the parts that we were talking about, the fashion trends, and it was [00:14:45] my, my bamboo earring, um, blazer. And y'all loved that. And I actually. Made that blazer, that was actually a DIY that I made.

Um, I, it was inspired by a high designer look and I wanted to recreate it and, and make it [00:15:00] my own. And that's what I did. The blazer I actually got from Target, um, it was actually one of the fashion collective, um, pieces which we talked about. I can't remember which one. Um, but if I remember, I will put it in the episode.

Um, [00:15:15] and I got bamboo earrings. Um, like you can find them at the beauty supply store. Of course, I actually ordered these on Amazon because I wanted all these different shapes because if you remember the blazer, it had like square, it had heart circle, all different [00:15:30] shapes, and so I wanted a lot of different shapes, so I actually ordered it on the design.

So yeah, thanks for the shout out. Um, and the love that I received about my blazer. I love that blazer actually.

Okay, so that was some of the things that were highlighted [00:15:45] throughout the season that you guys talked about and discussed in the comments and love. Thank you guys so much for tuning in. Thanks for all of the love and support. It's been great. I've had a blast doing this. I've had a blast talking to you guys.

[00:16:00] Also, host. Thank my guests and I hope that you guys will stay because season two is gonna be just even more like we have so many things in store for season two. I don't wanna give everything away, but just know that we will definitely have more solo episodes, more guest episodes. We're gonna [00:16:15] get into some more things, all fashion related.

Of course, we're gonna talk, talk about some more niche. Things and niching down to specifics like, um, hair, makeup and how those are also incorporated into, um, your look, whether it's film and [00:16:30] tv, or whether it's styling and just all things of that sort. So please be sure to tune in. And of course, we're not gonna leave out my favorite part of the episode.

So my favorite part of the episode is the South Spotlight. [00:16:45] this time I'm actually gonna feature my girl nda. [00:17:00] [00:17:15] fun fact, I'm actually wearing a dress from her collection. She has a few [00:17:30] collections out on Amazon, and when I tell you I love this girl so much, we talked about layering and how you can get fashion in spo, um, for like layering pieces for the fall or winter I should say, and then also transition it into.

[00:17:45] Spring and when I say This girl knows how to layer like no other, like I just really want y'all to go check her out because the way that she can take one piece and create so many looks with just that one piece by layering is unmatched. I [00:18:00] love her down. I love the things that she comes out with, including her style.

Um, and so please be sure to go follow her. On Instagram and TikTok and her name is nda. You can find her, um, on Instagram and be sure [00:18:15] that when you follow her, you tell her we sent you and use the hashtag fashion files. So if you know somebody that you are inspired by and you think we'll be inspired as well, be sure to use the hashtag flame style spotlight so that we can see [00:18:30] and.

Possibly feature them on an upcoming episode. Again, thank you guys so much for tuning into season one. I can't wait for you guys to tune into season two. I hope you are as excited as I am. And until then, stay stylish [00:18:45] and keep that flame burning bright. Bye.

[00:19:00] [00:19:15] [00:19:30] [00:19:45]
