0:24
[Music]
0:47
thank you good day and welcome to one more round the rocky series podcast I'm your host
0:55
Ryan with me today is Katie and Kyle Katie how you doing today great I'm excited for the last episode
1:02
guys very exciting Kyle I am fantastic sir
1:08
yes uh this is exciting this is it this is the final round the 14th and 15th
1:15
Bell this is uh we're going to do it we're gonna do it so like we said before in the previous episode we're gonna get
1:21
through this for better for worse the good news is we don't really have a lot of still no news to talk about like zero
1:27
other than the fact that oh yeah I guess this is a little bit of news that Stallone's Tulsa King is premiering this
1:34
month of November of 2022 so again join my patreon for those who
1:40
want to see me Ryan's flying solo I'm just gonna watch the videos on Paramount plus and I'm going to do a like video
1:48
reaction slash review so I'm just going to watch it and then it's kind of like a watch along you can watch it first and
1:53
watch me maybe pick out scenes you want to see my reaction or comments on or do the whole thing with me and I won't talk
2:01
much over it or anything like that but I might pause it here and there talk about a scene or something that's funny or something that's brutal and violent and
2:08
we'll talk about it and that's it so for as low as a dollar a month you get to watch me watch Tulsa King and talk about and that'll be my review so that's kind
2:14
of I'm not gonna I might make the first episode quote unquote free you know so you can see what it's like what I'm
2:20
talking about and then for the previous then for the remaining episodes they'll be behind the paywall so as far as well
2:25
drug dealer approach right well yeah it is but I mean I figured people like
2:31
this podcast they might like me as well I don't know and they might like my comments so it's just a way of I'm gonna
2:37
watch it anyways and I don't have a lot of time to open up a whole new podcast so I'm like I'm gonna watch it and then
2:43
I'll review it and I'm sure we'll talk about it too on our show after those of us who've watched it we'll give our thoughts as well but I'll give like more
2:49
kind of detailed thoughts on what have you so one dollar a month at the very least as much as you want to give uh
2:55
join the patreon and you get early release of episodes too I've been pretty good about that as well of the Rocky and the Ramble podcast so
3:02
it feeds both podcasts by the way and it also helps pay for the last of the action heroes podcast feed in general so
3:07
thank you so much to everyone that is on the patreon I do appreciate your support it is noted and it is appreciated Katie
3:14
you've got an email I do I just want to say that I could not be more excited about Tulsa King though so I'm really
3:19
excited to hear your thoughts so yeah everybody um support the show join patreon to hear
3:25
Ryan's thoughts thank you we do have an email uh subject is some observations about the cinematography and editing hi
3:31
team thanks for another great batch of episodes now you're coming to the end of the first film I have some observations
3:37
about the visual style and dramatic beats which I think are quite unique to the first film something I really like
3:44
is that contrast between these massive blow up arguments often filmed close up and intense then the resolution after is
3:52
super subtle wide shot where almost nothing is said even the spider Ricoh fight is angry and
3:58
brutal then there's the Stillness afterwards the Mickey argument in Rocky's apartment is amazing and it's
4:04
close up and intense then we don't hear the conversation in the street and barely see them in the frame in that
4:10
beautiful wide shot I think it prevents things from being too cheesy and still feels quite modern
4:16
as it has subtlety other examples are poly simply holding the bag in a mid shot and even the talking to the door
4:23
scene with Adrian is all awkward and intense then she just walks out of a room in a hat and they move on very well
4:29
directed also from a cinematography point of view I might do a count not of bums
4:36
of Rocky framed in a shot on his own I'm sure there's a load and it really
4:41
captures his loneliness within the landscape or alone in the ring slash his
4:47
apartment just walking through the streets as a bit of melancholy lost soul as I mount as I mentioned before I
4:53
totally ripped that idea off for the film I directed still on directing the sequels and with
4:59
a different cinematographer too so I feel there's less of that vibe in the later films
5:04
and the framing and just those juxtapositions don't seem as present maybe in the John G work print of five
5:12
it returns but there's less subtlety in that film so doubtful editing thing to look out for in the
5:18
final fight so we should look out for this yes Rocky's final punch to Apollo which is a stomach blow is a doubled up
5:25
edit from a different angle maybe they wanted a bit more of an impactful editing just before the final Bell or
5:32
just a stylistic choice or maximize the footage it's not uncommon for fight scenes to do a double impact edit in
5:40
parentheses Jean-Claude Van Damme coined that phrase for Bloodsport and Lionheart editing and then they used that title
5:47
for his next film I like that he gets the final punch in despite losing and he points out that
5:53
the same is true for Mason Dixon thanks for the content appreciate it Simon Drake apologies for that last paragraph
6:00
took me a minute to figure out what Woody was trying to convey there so sorry well that's okay and speaking of
6:06
editing I'll edit accordingly so thank you dispute something there I don't think
6:12
the last punch is a body bow we'll see for we'll see here at the end maybe I'm wrong it's a doubled up edit from a
6:18
different angle which I'm not sure what that means exactly I'm pretty sure he
6:23
hits him right on the chin and the bell rings I'm positive I'd be very surprised maybe it's one of my uh misconceptions
6:30
but I guess I'll see you at the end of the fight maybe but Simon that was the idea like
6:36
just pointing out of the close-up shots in contrast to the wide shots that does
6:41
seem I hadn't noticed that before because I'm not a cinematographer but thank you Simon for pointing that out
6:46
really I would have never thought of that when he says it you're like oh yeah that's right yeah it's like of course
6:52
it's like that but yeah I wouldn't have come up with that that's really good good Insight yeah we have a professional
6:57
filmmaker who watches our garbage show so I don't know whether it speaks to his quality of films or our quality of show
7:03
I'm not sure which one but we thank you Simon for uh listening and watching our show I think he's watches our stuff on
7:09
YouTube and I think he watches the final edit that I put on YouTube so I encourage people again go to the YouTube channel just Google one more round the
7:16
rocky series podcast it comes up there and you can see again the watch along speaking of watch alongs you have to
7:21
watch me Kyle and Katie watching the movie and talking and I work hard on those edits gets a few views but I think
7:28
Simon's one of those that does watch that and I understand too the convenience of audio I get it round so I
7:33
understand that as well I think he's talking about the rib at the very least is the rib punches so I don't know if
7:40
it's the final punches but I know again we'll watch him shortly but there's like
7:45
some sort of shot that is doubled up and well yeah we'll look for it I remember hearing something about that where it's
7:50
the same footage from a different angle or something to that effect I wonder if it's like at the end of the 14th round
7:56
what are you when he gets out he gets up and then I am so's body shots or Apollo's
8:02
spitting up blood afterwards and what could be yeah it could be well this is exciting we're gonna we got 20 minutes of film to get through but I don't think
8:08
it's going to take that long per se because we talked about this before where obviously it's very visual
8:14
experience We're not gonna say and Rocky through the left and you know we all seen the fight a million times but we're
8:19
gonna play it through and I'll edit accordingly for for the audio version so we're going to talk about of course the
8:25
the emotion what's going on and our feelings on this on these final moments and it's pretty exciting last 20 minutes
8:32
of any film I think obviously emotional and and what have you so here we go I
8:37
wanted to thank Kyle for suggesting that we watch the Ali wepner fight oh yeah
8:43
yeah and I did I watched it last night and it was so good I mean I had never
8:48
watched that before but I gotta say that was a fantastic fight did you watch the
8:54
five minutes or like the hours well I watched the whole thing I watched the app the whole fight and I gotta tell you
9:00
I like wrote down a bunch of stuff I'm like oh my god there there are so many similarities I didn't know if we wanted
9:08
to discuss any of that business now or afterwards or how you want to well we can do it maybe if you have points maybe
9:14
during the fight maybe like during like that remind you of that or vice versa but you can share your thoughts right
9:20
now what you thought of it first of all I recommend everyone watch it I almost don't know where to begin first of all
9:26
my first my first observation was okay this is the thing about the 70s or
9:31
80s too what is with people looking like significantly older than they are I had
9:38
to look up how old these guys are now Ali was 33 at the time of the fight which he looks 33 he looks his age
9:44
wepner I was like how old is this guy he looks like he's 55. did you guys watch
9:50
it I mean don't you think he looks way older than 36. it's it is odd I think it's that time too
9:56
where people just look weathered and older or I don't know I can't pinpoint what it is but I I noticed that watching
10:04
older things at any rate 36 is old to be fighting but also just his style his
10:10
slowness his awkwardness weaponers and how he doesn't block his face at all the
10:16
announcer who by the way I forget who the main guy was but it's red fox and James
10:24
Brown were the announcers did you guys notice that James Brown who Living in
10:29
America James Brown from Rocky IV also sang the national anthem at for the
10:35
fight this weapner Ali fight and he was one of the you know I don't know if they had guest announcers because I don't know what red fox and James Brown know
10:42
about boxing but I thought that was interesting the announcers kept talking about how tough they were just
10:49
I mean words can't describe how in awe they were of wepner's toughness they're like I can't believe he's still
10:55
staying and uh how tough he was he doesn't block there was just so many things I noticed apparently webner is
11:02
known for being a dirty fighter and so is Rocky even though we don't really ever see it and I didn't see wepner
11:07
being dirty in this fight in fact I saw Ali being dirty wepner was punching him in the back of the head repeatedly
11:15
I didn't see wepner do it well he did it a ton at the beginning and he says in an
11:21
interview that he was doing that on purpose to upset Ali like to piss him
11:26
off so slowly would get like emotional and would take risks yeah and so when Lee was hitting him in the back of the
11:31
head back to show he was completely and he was like ref
11:39
what I noticed I didn't notice until after I watched this this fight obviously I don't know
11:44
that much about ali like I didn't study fights or anything but I gotta tell you Carl Weathers after seeing this fight
11:51
Carl Weathers is brilliant in mimicking Ali's movements his dancing he's like
11:59
he's um got really good handwork footwork he's fast he dances around the ring and even his uh mannerisms didn't
12:06
you guys notice we were like damn that's Carl Weathers I just noticed so many similarities and then I noticed that
12:12
there was like nobody in the crowd there was the stadium or Coliseum was not full but it was so 70s the cast of characters
12:20
in the crowd I almost watched the crowd more than enough I was even watching this history piece of people's reactions
12:27
and that was brilliant also there was a question about was Stallone in the crowd
12:32
and I did read an article that said he watched it on closed caption TV he was not not called capture full circuit
12:39
closed circuit closed circuit I'm sorry I'm sorry what is closed Circle we talked about it during our Rocky 3
12:44
discussion we'll get to it again but that was mentioned when the uh the Marquis that the fight was closed circuit I think it's just like early
12:50
pay-per-view it's not open to everyone the public it's a a closed circuit you have to have a special access or
12:56
something so Stallone was not the crowd I swear he said I got a feeling he said remember it floated around because he
13:03
likes to do that but apparently he watched the fight but he wasn't there I'm curious to see what if you guys
13:09
noticed similar things that I did or I'm sure I missed a ton because I do like to watch Boxing but I don't know that much
13:15
about it you hit a lot of the same beats I know Kyle probably has some things to say like I said during the fight itself
13:21
but yeah there was some very I would say at the very least the spirit of I get why Stallone when he saw this fight in
13:29
his creative mind saw a story to tell if he was Chuck wepner or not Chuck webner
13:35
but if he was in the ring with Ali and he went that distance and basically gave the champion the biggest run for that you know
13:41
Champions money and he's like a not a very good boxer per se we just got this Iron Jaw and just keeps coming after him
13:48
there's a story to tell there and I I don't like when people say that it's a rip-off or it doesn't make sense because
13:54
it's just about a boxer who went the distance with all the I went further than anyone that's gone and gave this
13:59
guy a run for his money somebody who shouldn't have almost that's about it Chuck and the rocky character and Chuck as a real life person are very different
14:05
people I mean I don't think Stallone would know what Chuck's personality was like I don't know how much he would have known at that time like what is this guy
14:11
like behind the ring like outside the ring I don't know what was exposed at the time and you know the public so
14:16
there's very little very little of any personality so this the rocky character
14:22
is unique the rocky character in the relationship with Adrian and Paulie and all this stuff is unique but yes Carl
14:28
Weathers playing the Apollo character is obviously very much based on all the I think I don't think that was ever denied
14:34
and then again Rocky Going the Distance an unknown almost a hug a broken down
14:40
pug bum Going the Distance with the champ yeah but that's I think I will stand by that is where the similarities
14:47
end yeah so a lot of good points I agree that Carl Weathers does a great job of imitating Ali chuck wepner if you listen
14:57
to any of his interviews his personality isn't necessarily like Rockies uh kind
15:02
of his stories a little bit like that in the sense that both have gotten in trouble with the law
15:08
[Music] he's done some jail time before Rocky I'm sure has done some as well Chuck
15:15
wempner went on to have like a fighting match with the wrestler that apparently uh the Hulk Hogan match with Rocky was
15:22
based off of too that's right yeah wepner actually eventually ended up suing Stallone for apparently using his
15:28
like this which was settled out of court one thing that was somewhat of a similarity in the fight was the
15:33
knockdown now in the Rocky one the knockdowns on the first round the webner fight it's much later in the fight uh
15:39
webner didn't actually Go the Distance about fight almost did I got a TKO less
15:46
than a minute before the fight ended which I read 19 seconds
15:51
yeah so he he pretty much went the distance it was only a technical knockout so yeah
15:58
yes other people have gone the distance with the lead before that George savalo uh did and the other yeah like it wasn't
16:06
it's kind of a weird thing Rock universe is everyone's always getting these Knockouts please take good people to the
16:13
15th round before like if that's not too unknown very few people have knocked a
16:18
lead down Joe Frazier's done it and George Cooper He's an English guy he
16:24
knocked a lead down and then Chuck webner I believe those are the only three that's what that's
16:30
kind of his claim to fame in an interview it's like what if like I
16:36
can't win the fight what if I can knock him down if that would show that I'm something special George Foreman
16:42
couldn't knock Muhammad Ali down Ernie Shavers could like these huge huge
16:47
punchers do it Ali argued it was a slip maybe it
16:52
was a bit of a lucky punch but uh still it's that kind of his claim to famous the knock down there but
16:58
I agree with you Ryan that it's definitely no one argues that Rocky fight was inspired by this fight there's
17:06
there's clear differences too they took the artistic license right yeah I just I
17:11
feel like when people say that it's like they're trying to lessen the Rocky movie by saying that and and I think that's
17:17
not a fair argument because I'd be like okay show me where in Rocky's character and in the film it has anything to do
17:23
with Chuck's life like outside the ring just inspired by the fight because it was a it was an amazing fight and one
17:29
thing I was really surprised by that's very different from Rocky yeah the announcers kept pointing out that Ollie
17:35
has been knocked down before but wepner has never been and they were like how is he still standing like the weaponer had
17:41
never been knocked down before until this fight I just thought the listening to the announcers was awesome there were
17:48
a few things that kind of reminded me like when Tony says this man kept coming
17:53
yeah yeah things like that I was like I love it but it was just an inspiration for a
18:00
story for sure also the crowd we like an underdog and so the crowd just was going
18:05
wild because they were not expecting such a great fight and so I think people got on wepner's side which was similar
18:12
and I it did make me feel for him so I'm glad that he got some small settlement yeah he probably spent it on booze but
18:19
yeah probably hey who wouldn't almost every fight Rocky has is inspired
18:28
by a real life fight Rocky uses real life people like he borrows from real life that's his technique is he takes
18:35
something from real life and he adapts it for film I think it's okay to do that I think
18:40
it's okay to get inspiration the rocky character like Ryan said that is unique that's a unique character and that
18:48
that's what really is the important part of the film anyways the fighting like we pointed that with Rocky the actual
18:53
boxing fight it's just a medium to tell a story it's not a boxing movie the parts that he borrows from where that's
18:59
fighting a wrestler knocking down the champ in the first round or whatever it might be those are actually the least
19:06
interesting parts of the films the actual boxing itself and the older I know of course the older I've got of
19:11
course when I'm a kid yes and Everyone likes the action-packed sequences when I'm a kid but as I've gotten older it's
19:16
the human drama that's more interesting to me anyways and not the actual inspired by this fight or that fight
19:23
sure whatever I'm more interested in the events that got to the ring speaking of which that's where we are now it's the
19:29
last episode was Rocky talking Adrian alone in the ring alone in the bed and I
19:34
don't want to be another bum from the neighborhood I don't know if we get any more bum counts for the rest of this episode but we'll find out I don't I'll
19:41
listen for it but yeah I think em King was won the bum contest what was the final count it's less than 20 though
19:49
so I totally won thank you one I think you got closest foreign
19:57
[Music]
20:03
looks great doesn't she does
20:09
[Music] so of course the sequence of Fighters
20:14
getting ready fastly under the eyes so it doesn't break the skin I think we all know that now why to put the Vaseline there
20:20
one thing I want to point out sure they're missing here when you get your gloves taped you're supposed to have
20:26
someone from the opposite corner watch it that's right
20:34
you don't see that you don't see anyone from Apollo's Corner in that room and you don't see anyone from Rocky's Corner
20:40
in the other room not a big deal though we can also argue the shots are pretty tight there could be somebody in the
20:45
room you could argue that the camera is from the the point of view of the the other Corner person yeah good point
20:56
get breathing exercises clearing the nasal cavity or cocaine or something
21:03
yeah this side looks great here too looks
21:08
young and chiseled and I think one thing I do recall is they do in the Rocky films and I suspect they might have done
21:15
it for part one sorry people hate it when you say rocky part one the first Rocky film anyways
21:20
that they did the fighting sequences first and that's why like Sly is so ripped and all the the fight sequences
21:27
they did the the acting and the the other stuff after the fight sequences so I think they do the fighting filming
21:34
first almost get the hard stuff out of the way first and then they do the storyline stuff after I believe I read
21:39
that somewhere I know they did that for sure in the later films think you're right which doesn't make sense to me because
21:46
if you get like injured or something during the fight like you see if your face is all swollen or whatever and then
21:53
like would that not interfere with the rest of the filming but obviously it didn't
21:58
of course a Rocky's praying Apollo looks serious here which is interesting because we know he's about to come out
22:04
as George Washington so I love how to do all this prep work and everything and he's looking all serious but like okay now put on your outfit yeah because to
22:12
him he has in his mind there's no chance he's gonna lose if he's nervous about anything it's just it probably looks to
22:19
people or something like that he's wondering what they're gonna say about his uh George Washington outfit on Twitter the next day that's what he's
22:25
worried about now come on other things sorry and then I'll let it go the webner Ali fight his Corner people because he
22:32
was similarly obviously we know it was inspired but similar to Apollo he's not
22:39
really taking it that we we see that he doesn't you know he's dancing around and kind of messing around and and then when
22:46
they see that the opponent is Landing some punches and like means business then the corner people they're
22:53
like now listen no let's let's knock this bum out or whatever it is I think it's a damn show he thinks it's a damn
22:59
fight yeah but we saw that with Ali too the announcers kept saying that his Corner
23:04
people were getting mad at him like listen take this seriously let's go come on that was something similar now we see
23:10
the pink sweaters was there a story with the pink sweaters right yes I think there is if I remember correctly they
23:17
were supposed to be red but they got washed out I think they weren't supposed to be salmon pink
23:22
I don't think that was a brave Choice by the crew I think the color got washed out low budget they're supposed to be
23:29
white but someone had a pink sock or something like something like that it was like it was one of the other well it looks it looks pretty evenly spaced with
23:35
the colors I think it got washed out looks like there's embroidered or sewn on the word Rocky yep in red yeah in red
23:43
oh maybe that got washed the sweater was white yeah and the word Rocky is clearly
23:50
red and I wonder if like they got washed and so the bread's light onto the yeah
23:55
with the white turtlenecks which is an interesting Mickey's got his two gone he's got his two gone you know his
24:01
little snow cap on it's cold in the arena and I love how he says your time kid that's a phrase that's used a few
24:08
times throughout the series of course and uh Rocky uses it to Adonis of course in the Creed films it's time good
24:18
are you here oh how about I wait here and you fight
24:23
huh yeah you're looking very great today you know that
24:30
I gotta go now but uh don't you leave town huh wish me luck I'm gonna need it
24:38
good luck Adrian you don't think this Rover is too baggy you know
24:44
good luck don't leave town I love that just so awkward don't leave
24:50
town the whole sequence I love it so much like he's still just joking around with his woman and I love that sequence
24:57
so much his little corny jokes and I love him about this robe looking baggie I love it
25:04
well they had to do that it really was too big it looked funny so they had to address it just like every other mistake
25:09
in the movie they were like let's just address it yeah that's great again the low budget and then of course we'll talk
25:15
about when we do season two but they address that the robes are much better this year wink wink at the audience because we know we have a bigger budget
25:21
and you know we're getting the proper props going here so yeah they got the proper fit for part two but for the
25:26
first film be like it's too big we just have to wear it this is all we have literally just bought a hat like this
25:33
Adrian's had bought one recently I haven't worn it yet but well I was gonna ask you where's your hat I know why is
25:39
she not gonna watch the fight presumably she could have been given a seat some people are actually don't like
25:46
watching fighting they just don't like it they don't like the violence and I always suspect that Adrian probably
25:52
isn't a fan of bar well we know later the character isn't just not a fan of the sport she probably just wishes Rocky
25:57
was anything but a boxer she doesn't want to see him get destroyed in the ring quite frankly it makes her nervous
26:02
and uncomfortable so she just can't bear to watch if you're afraid of a thunder and lightning storm you go in a room
26:08
that doesn't have the Thunder and light and you just hide from the storm you just don't want to witness what it's happening it's out there it's just safer
26:15
there she will hear the Roar of the crowd later and we know she does come out eventually at the end but she
26:21
doesn't want to see Rocky get his face his face cooked in all right you see her at the other fights butt cheeks she
26:27
cringes the whole time well we'll get again into season three with Rocky three where she's cheering and dancing in the
26:32
crowd I mean the real fights like the one the ones yeah they weren't sit-ups
26:40
[Applause] anyways a lot funner when you're not
26:45
getting hit in the face it always kind of bugged me the age was dance in the crowd make those Millions Rocky make those Millions because I know
26:52
these are hand-picked opponents yeah I know and poor Rockets you better get used to it she is you know in a serious
26:58
relationship with a boxer so come on Adrian you better get with the program here yeah don't be a Giselle
27:06
the women's career always suffers oh yeah Adrian's quit at the pet shop yeah yeah I'd like to have you meet my
27:13
colleague tonight working the bike with me thank you Bill Baldwin the electricity is all over the place
27:18
tonight is Rocky Balboa hey what the hell is that I trained you
27:24
to be a fighter and not a billboard I'm doing it for a friend what do you get out of it only gets three grand I get
27:30
the Rope true the story about I
27:35
you know what everybody in these movies has really good one-liners except for
27:40
Rocky you're right about one-liners right yeah shrewd yeah and again
27:46
Stallone's writing he wrote all this dialogue that's his humor and his clever
27:52
dialogue I love it tonight's fight their style their difference in style you can put a recent Sports magazine which said
27:57
could be the caveman against the Cavalier I noticed some buzzing of the what's a Cavalier I mean I know the word
28:03
fighter like Cavalry like on a horse it's just by getting old medieval times because I know to be Cavalier I've just
28:11
never thought of it as a noun it's the caveman versus the Cavalier and think of
28:16
a guy and a horse with a sword fighting a caveman and I get the comparison it's just you don't hear that much gentlemen
28:23
trained in arms and horsemanship I have a bit of a nerd streak in me I I have played Dungeons and Dragons before and
28:30
things like that so yeah I never would have guessed
28:35
I have come across that term in that context I just never heard it as a noun just more as a behavior okay to be
28:43
Cavalier cool I notice a buzzing in the background says Stu nahan background now
28:48
bill could be the challengers getting ready to get into the ring okay look at my face
28:54
[Applause] Paulie's in there with a with I don't want to use a bad word I don't want to
29:00
use a bad word but Paulie's there with a [ __ ] a [ __ ]
29:06
a horde we could say oh sure sex worker like how he says it cost him 200 she
29:14
cost him to it and she's like no it's 250. you look like a slob maybe 200 worth of phone but once I saw what it
29:19
looked like I'm upping at the 250. what's included in the 200 is it just the date
29:24
or the 250 is it just the date or is it like the after date activities three grand for that advertisement so he has
29:31
some money to burn bro do you think he slept with her he's at the hospital after the fight oh that's right he was
29:38
nowhere to be seen the 250 is just her being there with him at the fight she's pretty good cash back then especially
29:46
just to be getting to see a cool boxing fight yeah that's like a thousand dollars today's money oh take a price
29:52
yeah yeah right yeah just based on I'm not that I have actual knowledge about this based on TV and stuff if she's an
29:59
escort like you said whatever happens happens you're not paying for the ACT but if it happens it happens that's the
30:05
fine perhaps invisible line between escorting and prostitution is there's no guarantee if I paid for dinner and we
30:13
have coitus there's a transaction of all the same could argue that she liked you and did coitus of her own accord
30:19
afterwards which we all know it wasn't personally I think it's a [ __ ] distinction but I
30:26
personally think there's something wrong with it no it's all consensual and you want to give money who cares I know it's
30:31
it's silly that it's actually silly that it's illegal I think it makes it safer if it's legal but that's a whole other discussion oh for sure absolutely okay
30:38
so uh yeah so Paulie asking how's the road man of course Roxy's little baggy but if we gotta address this again
30:45
Overkill yeah we get it we get it it's baggy you know the funny thing is I don't think I I ever would have noticed
30:51
I don't notice that stuff I don't notice if it's a form fitting or not I don't know if I ever would have noticed but
30:57
sure I I've seen Fighters with baggy robes I didn't even think they looked that unusual to be honest that's what I
31:03
mean I don't know if it would have been yeah but they really want to address this and I granted Sly is wearing that
31:09
towel around his neck to add fill it out a little bit so they are they are making it Fuller you know he's got that tower
31:14
on his neck which I don't think he's ever done again in another Rocky film having this big baggy towel under the
31:19
neck that's true bulky towel to fill up the Rope [Applause]
31:32
no [Music] [Applause]
31:41
so he told gozel thanks for showing up and we're about to get his record here his record he weighed a little flag for
31:47
a girl and we love you Rocky so you of course a HomeTown hero and now Nathan's about to tell his record here which I
31:53
think will be interesting so his record is 44 victories knock up and he's
32:02
holding the last of three rounds because Las Vegas odds say no Rocky Balboa climbing into the ring now
32:10
odds and his record that's also a similarity so they said is um which is
32:15
insane the odds were 50 to 1. in the wepner fight they did say that it was the odds on that fight were 30 to one
32:23
and wepner's record was very similar in total fights and losses there were there
32:29
are a lot of similarities fight wise yeah wepner was he's from Bayonne New
32:34
Jersey his nickname was the Bayonne bleeder so you got caught all the time
32:40
he he did fight some big names before Lee like he fought Sonny Liston after list and lost alley of course like
32:46
listed it would have been passed as Prime and stuff but I wouldn't want to use it yeah Ali did take fights and he
32:53
Ali admitted this that he he later in his career took fights that he knew he'd win just for me he's like I'm not gonna be
33:00
taking all tough fights this stage of my career like he was very open about it yeah something extremely different about
33:06
the fight wepner was six five would they say like 225 yeah he was bigger than the
33:13
lead by a couple pounds Stallone in real life is I don't know 170 pounds and yeah five seven yeah
33:20
weathers probably is really 220 in there I think they probably use his real weight and he's six one or six two like
33:26
even weathers would be a heavyweight would count for sure in today's heavyweight division he'd be small back
33:33
in the 70s he probably would have been about right Ellie was six three in between 2 15 and 2 25. so now they're
33:41
saying Rockies into the ring the Italian stalling so of course they know the moniker of course the name that Rocky
33:46
invented the Italian Stallion some meat sign on the back of his role there have
33:51
you seen him Shamrock there's a lot of noise coming nice
33:56
little subtle nod to the Shamrock me it worked the the billboard work it worked over
34:03
heir to millions of people around the world shrewd indeed shrewd indeed so Rocky got
34:10
to keep the robe I wonder what he did with it eventually you know did he keep it for nostalgic reasons this is my
34:15
first fight with Apollo you know we never see it again in the films but I wonder if he kept it after all yeah he probably got sold his lucky five Rocky
34:23
five you can hear in the background of one of the scenes but the gloves from that first fight were being sold
34:30
um Shamrock meet bro was sold too yeah yeah he wears it at home with Adrian
34:43
I've always loved that laugh did you hear that laugh who is that is that one of the commentators yeah but I guess it
34:50
must be yeah but it's weird it's an odd what do you call post-production Audio insert because if it is one of the the
34:57
announcers it doesn't sound like his same tenor or tone of voice so let's do it again sounds like a like a young
35:03
adult laugh yeah is that the World Heavyweight Champion
35:10
it doesn't quite fit because they're talking it's a post-production insert and I don't think it's by Stu or Bill I
35:16
think it's a third individual just laughing that Apollo's dresses George
35:22
Washington how many racists would be pissed off that there's a black guy there dressed up as George Washington
35:27
well they can't have a black president that's impossible so yeah never gonna happen isn't it this fight too that the
35:34
announcers are like I mean there's just like so much the 70 just watching old things you're just like wow I can't
35:39
believe they said that there's so many things like that or did that or said that isn't it this one they're like I've
35:45
never seen so many Italians in one place in my life you said that not me that was part two I think yeah that's part two
35:51
yeah you said that not me I don't know why that's racist it's a weird it's even weird even back then they'd even be
35:58
worried about that because that's obviously way before PC but the idea like we're just saying there's Italians
36:03
there but so maybe that's American thing I'm not aware of is a Canadian I don't know why it's yeah so of course they're
36:08
saying he's riding a boat is he supposed to be George Washington and look at these woman dresses the Statue of Liberty they are like painted gold I
36:15
wonder how long that took to get all that James bonded in the Goldfinger they're really a maked up gold on their
36:22
face and everything one of the women there I believe she's the one that does the shows the different rounds later on
36:27
in the fight yeah yeah and a boat riding in a boat as he's
36:32
supposed to be George Washington obviously so it had on the whole shot
36:38
world champion the follow three is doing it in the face in the George Washington
36:43
[Applause] he's showing money I don't remember when we
36:48
so he's on this float it's based on a famous painting of a battle around
36:54
Philadelphia where on Christmas Day the Continental Army secretly crossed the Delaware River
37:02
and ambushed these British mercenaries they're Impressions that was like one of the first big wins of the Revolutionary
37:10
War and then they're showing this the snow here and this is around that same time of year they're dropping snow and I love it too
37:16
with the float that Apollo is on you actually see the painting of the of the men pushing the boat across the Delaware
37:23
it's a great little prop there of the painting of the men it's actually a solid little prop for a little bunch of film ah it is a really good prop Kyle I
37:32
would just like to point out that you probably know more about American history than most Americans I didn't
37:37
even realize I gotta say I didn't even realize this was snow until just now I'm like oh I didn't know it was supposed to
37:43
be snow because I didn't know that that battle was around Christmas time I didn't even know that that's okay
37:49
Americans not knowing things that's weird it is weird right yeah my family goes
37:54
back to America I do have a little bit of background now I'm gonna get all the American listeners mad at me I'm just
38:00
joking our largest audience is from the US I'm just joking guys we love you oh we know I mean if we can't take a joke
38:06
about how we are seeing them around the world then we have listen we've got bigger problems than that right you see
38:12
America's not be able to take a joke that's another joke yeah exactly yeah yeah my ancestors some of them came off
38:18
the Mayflower and fought in the War so really yeah yeah yeah my grandma's from
38:25
New England originally oh you met my grandpa during the war and then came up to Canada so so you're pseudo-american
38:32
pseudo yeah like my dad's like a dual citizen some of my cousins are but oh that's cool
38:38
and three of my kids were born in the U.S so I have three U.S born children so I hope one day to have dual citizenship
38:45
yeah please come to Canada so I think we're gonna get the history lesson right here actually remember when we were
38:50
growing up we were taught about George Washington so I think we're gonna get a little bit of that here [Applause]
39:02
[Applause] and the crowd is loving every minute of
39:09
it look at that here is the World Heavyweight Champion around the world he was President George
39:14
Washington the father of our country
39:20
[Music] now he's Uncle Sam
39:27
the music that's on which which is repeated in Rocky III that's the Marine Corps Anthem he dresses up as Uncle Sam
39:35
which is another military figure so right I want you revoking that military use in patriotism yeah of course the
39:42
idea I don't want you I want all of you in an appointed of course Rocky I want you you're my opponent I want you kind
39:47
of a double play it is it's really smart I kind of forget that this is a huge
39:53
deal the whole idea is that it's the bicentennial the biggest day in American history even though it's not because
39:59
it's January 1st but anyway and Rocky yeah the year of but apparently I was
40:06
told because I asked my mom about this uh and she says all of 1976 was
40:13
basically the bicentennial celebration yeah that does make sense it went on and
40:18
on and on yeah they're really playing up the whole
40:24
American thing which was especially a big deal at this time and but still
40:29
rocky I loved when they pan over to Rocky and his he's just dead stone face like what the and what I like too is the
40:36
subtlety of he was worried about his baggy robe he's got his pathetic little Shamrock Mesa and of course Apollo comes
40:42
in with this grandiose production yeah he's Ballin
40:49
Apollo I forget until he does I'm like God he's a he's such a star Apollo at
40:56
Carl Weathers as Apollo is there's not very many characters better he's one of the best characters in cinema history
41:01
yeah I absolutely agree I think very few people would say otherwise yeah his Charisma and the acting of Carl Weathers
41:07
to produce that character is amazing look at Mike looking over the shoulder rocket there how excited he is to see Apollo the champ in the ring so close
41:13
JoJo yeah why does Al have those Q-tips or whatever in his mouth he's showing
41:19
how calm cool he's is non-plussed by the fact the Champion's right there he's more of the professional I've been here
41:25
done this kind of thing okay and uh Rocky said of course he looks like a big flag I admit when I first heard that I
41:31
thought he said another word but okay thank you do you really think no he said that it's
41:38
a stupid joke [Applause] is he talking to me he's talking to you
41:45
is he talking to me let him talk Taxi Driver come out I can't remember what year came up 76 yeah
41:52
but they wouldn't have been able to write that because they were filming at the same time yeah okay there's something that got missed in the
41:58
subtitles Mickey says let him talk but he says let him talk while he can talk
42:05
go back is he talking to me he's talking to you is he talking to me
42:14
I have never heard that before neither great catch Kyle let him talk while he can talk wow so Mickey's in business
42:21
right now he still feels really that he can Rocky can cause some damage and Rocky does
42:26
cause some damage absolutely absolutely you know so Paul's gonna get surprised
42:31
Mickey might be the only person in the ring like Mickey knows what Rocky can do
42:37
I think Mickey and Tony I think Tony is weary of Rocky like I think Tony understands you can kind of see Rocky's
42:44
talent and you can see Tony's face here kind of the edge of the screen he's not
42:49
really enjoying himself during all this like he's kind of the grown-up on that side like trying to keep everything calm
42:56
trying to get you know kind of contain Apollo before the fight their shirts almost look pink too a pile of corner
43:02
people it's okay well yeah they have the reverse they were wearing white on the outside with pink on the inside the
43:07
Rockies crew is wearing pink on the outside white on the inside it was all done in one laundry load also who's this
43:15
short fat guy who's that I've never noticed him that's Apollo's cut man who's probably like
43:21
never actually prepared to cut his whole time with Apollo because he's never been
43:27
in any of the meetings or anything before don't know who that is yeah it might be his cut guy too and Donald
43:32
who's a big Stallone nerd and Rocky nerd he never caught that either Kyle Soul you might be perking up a few of our
43:38
listeners ears with a little trivia let him talk while he can talk that's a great catch I'm sure you know the rocky
43:44
files people they knew that of course but you know we're just we're just a couple ham and Eggers over here
43:50
like [Applause]
44:00
recruiting poster for our fellows in the surface the Army in the Navy I want you and that's what he's doing to take them
44:06
there he is that's it three he's got a Creed in three what do you think that outfit close that's a big Ali thing
44:14
predicting the rounds he would win and he was really good at that it's all probably a self-fulfilling prophecy
44:19
Apollo's plan is to play with him for two rounds and then knock them out in the third it's a nice rhyme too Creed in
44:25
three Creed and three sounds good too they mention it however she did that outfit of course you know rock is kind
44:30
of like I can't I think he's self-conscious about his lack of uh production that he has with the champ
44:35
but I mean let's be honest of course Apollo has millions millions of resources I think that's Rocky's way too
44:43
of like coping with the stress because remember like in Rocky Balboa they were
44:48
at the arena Dixon was there and then Dixon was confronting him and then Rocky
44:54
was talking about later on he's like I wonder how much it cost to clean this place or something like that mine
45:00
wanders like some some weird detail like that I think that's probably kind of how Sly thinks in real life and he writes
45:08
that kind of stuff into the nice concernable money though he wasn't concerned about money when he wasted a
45:13
lot with his uh wife there and she got mad about that but anyway so he's curious that way like I wonder how much
45:19
it would cost to clean this whole place I wonder how much it would cost to have that outfit sure it's a good point and
45:25
honestly my brain kind of thinks like that too like if I were in Rocky shoes so it's it's appreciative for the every
45:31
man the Every Woman the ever person and his whole demeanor is that way you're right throughout but especially his
45:38
little Clips to Adrian about don't leave town now it's all like his coping mechanism for uh shit's gonna get real
45:46
real quick here this is a great shot here too of the microphone coming down to Jurgens and I
45:52
love what Jurgens is somehow the ring announcer which is odd to have the promoter because she used to ring
45:57
announcer I missed that in a trivia I totally didn't even remember that he was the ring announcer I wish they hired the
46:03
guy from the first fight in the movie The Spiderwick all right all right
46:10
[Applause] foreign [Applause]
46:18
Fanfare I love how that is that no again is that Fanfare playing to the crowd as
46:24
the mic drops or is it just the audience in the movie it is a great shot though Ryan a good
46:30
point about that that's awesome this guy's the exact opposite of Michael Buffer
46:36
is the let's get ready to rumble guy all right we got a big show tonight here
46:41
folks Let's uh all right let's uh watch this fight now
46:48
like we're hearing stew and bills vocals like or words coming through very clear
46:53
to us as a movie audience but now with Jurgens talking to the crowd we're
47:00
almost hearing what it would sound like if we were in the crowd holding our own camera filming Jurgens like the audio is
47:05
very poor here I don't know if that was a purposeful Choice by the sound Department to say jurgen's voice is not
47:13
coming through very clear the way it did with Stu and Bill for example because they're they're talking to the audience these close circuit audience yes but now
47:20
we're hearing Jurgens talking to the crowds and maybe that was purposeful yeah I think I think they want you to feel like you're in the audience here so
47:27
if that's the case well done and I just don't know if it's a low budget choice or just a legit we want you to feel like
47:33
you're hearing it like you're in the Spectrum good evening I'm very happy to be here
47:42
look at his face is he holding a funeral or I don't know
47:50
such a cartoon character yeah I mean there's he's like indescribable
47:56
[Applause]
48:03
[Music]
48:09
oh tonight
48:15
he says time does not permit first Stu said who's who is here everyone's here
48:21
anyone that's anyone is here tonight great so but then Jurgens goes Tom does not allow me to announce every
48:28
politician businessman entertaining Us in the crowd but I have you know time for the one Cameo that we were able to
48:34
Wrangle up here yeah which I think is funny and of course we've talked about this before it's gonna be Joe Frazier
48:39
which is a real boxer from Philly but so where does he fit in the Rocky
48:45
Universe timeline space-time Continuum as a champion as he did Apollo beat him for the belt you can't think about this
48:53
you have to because Tyson exists we know that Tyson exists in the Rocky universe and so does Joel Fraser but Muhammad Ali
49:00
doesn't apparently so it's a weird yeah it's yeah he shouldn't exist but he
49:08
does this is but he does accept how George Foreman exists performed against
49:14
us too because they reference him in Rocky Balboa right they do reference him as well so formed existing for him and
49:19
thought Ali right so yeah Foreman is cleverlying though but club and Lang's Club were laying in the Rocky they both
49:25
exist I know you just don't try not to think too hard just exactly
49:32
do the figure [Laughter] that's right when we do the figure we
49:39
make Sly look bad let's slide that's right also the shot of the crowd because
49:46
when uh what's this this cartoon character says that everybody anybody who's anybody is here and they show the
49:52
crowd and it was just like a stock footage of a crowd right it looks very different oh yeah it was an invent I
49:59
can't remember which one I think it might have been a real fight or something but yeah they use footage from some sort of real event and it's like
50:04
this really grainy like inserted like look look it's a crowd everybody
50:11
oh it's funny all right here we go the Immortals of pugilism look at this guy look how he announces
50:19
okay so let me go back look how hot she is Paulie's dangerous yeah she is
50:32
look at her she's a doll Holly looks pretty good there too I gotta say pretty handsome actually a hat in the suit yeah
50:40
actually shaving his face yep uh now he has a cigar in his mouth that he's not
50:46
smoking but it's just maybe satisfying some sort of order he'll light it up for the match he'll light up for the match
50:51
but she's a beautiful woman and I'd pay 250. I'd pay 300. I'm so cheap though I
50:57
wouldn't pay unless I got like after fight attention 15 hundred bucks nowadays right yeah East that's kind of
51:04
like would you pay 1500 bucks right sure I mean we'd work something out we'd work something out I don't think she'd raise
51:10
the price on me as much as she did on Paulie but yeah she's there she's an attractive woman there good for her yeah
51:17
[Applause]
51:31
I believe there are watermelon patterns on his shirt I do dig his outfit it's
51:37
the epitome of 1970s and I could not love it more love it it looks great and
51:43
let's just take a look at his shirt I think you're right Cal I think his shirt has watermelon pattern on it everything
51:54
okay in his career as a fighter
52:00
Hey Joe yeah you've been dumping me wrong
52:05
so Joe says to Apollo the character Joe in this universe says Apollo you've been
52:11
ducking me a long time then Paul says no Joe you're next Joe in this universe
52:16
Fraser is a contender he's chasing Apollo's title that's where we are no he's just kidding because he's retired
52:23
that's the way I took it he's retired and he's just like they're just they're
52:28
just ripping each other okay so there is no chasing okay yeah and the real the real world Joe Frazier and Ellie had a
52:36
really epic fight in 1971 that's when Ali came out of retirement that wasn't his first fight at a retirement that's
52:42
what he tried to get the champion back and Joe Frazier defeated him and then George Foreman defeated Joe Frazier in
52:49
196 a couple years later and then Ali and Frazier had a match where neither of them were champ and Ali beat Frasier in
52:55
that one Ali eventually beat foreman and then they had their third and final fight and the Thrilla in Manila
53:02
1975 when Joe tried to get the championship back and then Joel lost again so wow I didn't realize that was
53:09
Joe Frazier okay yeah yeah they had the fight Trilogy there's a few there's lots
53:14
of those in boxing yeah yeah that's right you're next you understand [Applause]
53:21
they must be friends so Rocky sees this interchange and they're fooling around they must be friends
53:27
Tony seems to know him too that's right they're all they're all buddies now is that watermelon there Kyle that looks
53:32
like watermelon uh I don't know what it is
53:37
no I don't know what it is I can't make it
53:42
out if it's not I'm gonna be really embarrassed anybody in the chat knows yeah maybe people we've got a pretty
53:48
good uh pretty good look here it looks like it though [Applause]
53:57
is in there okay in the background against the ropes you see behind Tony's arm that's Apollo's lawyer Paula's not
54:04
gonna be embarrassed what the hell is he doing there like why is he in the
54:09
audience like why you're not his Corner man like you're I know the people of their entourages or whatever but he's
54:15
gonna make sure the Apollo doesn't get embarrassed in the ring either he's gonna make sure rocket doesn't take
54:22
any cheap shots there's gonna be some suing because it won't be long enough
54:31
here's that stock footage here of whatever crowd this was
54:38
look at this guy here with his arm yeah the reactions for the crowd right now aren't quite what's happening inside the
54:45
ring but this is funny [Applause]
54:52
so here we go we got a shot of Lucky Seven and we got the bartender there we got the little girl right in the front
54:58
there hope he's won us at least we have the guy who is passed out yeah yeah he's
55:04
there too at the same snow cap on who else do we have here the guy who was drunk that Rocky put him
55:10
beside in the booth those two are beside each other there I sort of thought there'd be more people now watching this
55:16
also it's like a 13-inch TV that they're all watching this on but I would have figured that this place would be more
55:23
packed to watch their Hometown hero is that Gloria way in the back there is or who's smoking a cigarette there way in
55:29
the back okay yeah there's three people kind of in the back smoke right in line with Tony
55:35
she kind of has like a bluish shirt on yeah it's too hard to tell I can't tell if that is yeah well we got one two
55:42
three four females and 20 guys all right good luck girls
55:47
it's like Tinder yeah that's true so you're Rocky Wayne 190.
55:53
[Applause] [Music] [Applause]
56:02
we were talking about the weight classes before so 190 must have at this time
56:08
been the minimum for a heavyweight bare minimum yeah probably or they [ __ ] up
56:13
one of them maybe foreign
56:19
we know that's our hometown hero yeah yeah they're all excited sure we know that we know that guy sure yeah
56:26
[Applause]
56:40
[Applause] is
56:55
you jump I want you okay
57:01
watch your heads no buttons shake hands now come on fight put your hands up there
57:07
okay so you both fought in Philadelphia before so is there different rules in Philly than maybe Las Vegas every state
57:15
has their own auction commission and they probably have slightly different rules like are you allowed to head butt
57:20
in California oh wow that's just funny it's the common rules like you know no head-butting
57:26
there are certain readers that could be different there's a three knockdown Rule and stuff like that sometimes it's
57:32
waived or you know like there's yeah no head butting is pretty Universal no rabbit punches so Paul says here put
57:39
your hands up chump and then he grabs the under part of Rocky's gloves kind of snags and shakes them which is I always
57:45
thought was kind of calls him chump number one and then it's a little bit a little bit disrespectful he does he pulls on the gloves if I remember
57:51
correctly now this is very early like Ali's really known for talking the entire fight
57:56
wepner in his interview and Ali was just wouldn't shut up and other people said
58:02
that too Ali said The only person who ever talked back to him ever was Joe Frazier
58:07
um [Applause]
58:13
he's just going over and being calm it looks like from here there goes the big
58:19
hat I've never seen a fighter that concerned
58:25
about his hair so he flew Barbara in there's his Barber he flew him in remember yeah that's
58:31
gotta look good he's got his barber in the corner and his lawyer
58:37
[Applause]
58:44
and there's Penelope [Applause]
58:49
looking at each other you're right because you had pointed out in the first scene too that all the
58:56
fight scenes were filmed at the same time whether that was first or last because he looks his body tone looks
59:02
significantly different than in other parts of the movie which makes sense because you want to deal with that workout regime all that stuff and just
59:09
be as ripped as lean as you can do the filming because when you do the drama part of it you can't just keep working
59:15
out all day and everything and it would be harder to maintain the physique however in comparison to Apollo I mean
59:21
Apollo is play molded perfectly I mean his muscles are pretty impressive we're
59:28
opening up eyes of doll here you never noticed the barber before so yeah look at this we're telling things to people they've never noticed before afraid the
59:36
champion what's
59:49
[Music] we're 20 seconds into Rocky's career as a character we're already getting
59:56
Bill Baldwin or Stu I don't know which one's saying Rocky is blocking the punches with his face this has already
1:00:01
become a thing like we're already acknowledging this right away yeah it is kind of odd it's not protecting himself
1:00:07
Rocky's tried a couple punches it is missed I wonder what he's thinking right now like oh it's real it's real now this
1:00:15
is not going good you also could say too you know what this isn't so bad like this guy actually doesn't punch that
1:00:21
hard as the captions show the announcers are like oh the champion doesn't look that great but he's moving now yeah he's
1:00:28
not taking it seriously he's probably in his other fights he was coming out hard like kind of the Apollo we see Rocky II
1:00:34
well he said he wants to put on a show like he yeah Apollo in some way is dragging down he's not gonna come in
1:00:39
hard like Tyson back in the 1980s and 90s people paid money to watch you know to watch me like he's almost like a
1:00:45
celebrity in the ring I want to put on a show for the people who paid tickets for this because in his mind if it's going to be Creed and three he's got to bury
1:00:52
this guy for a couple rounds that's right
1:01:00
now he's trying to give the fans their money's worth
1:01:05
because we're doing I'm making a show of him Challenger right now
1:01:13
[Applause]
1:01:19
and he's just The champ is just taunting him now
1:01:24
he's dancing around [Applause]
1:01:31
yes he is
1:01:38
my memory is just total [ __ ] but I don't remember him getting knocked down so quickly it always surprises me if you
1:01:44
were to ask me I think this was actually one of the trivia questions was what round does I think I think yeah it was
1:01:51
the first punch the first landed punch knocks him down and I think it was a combination of yeah freak luck yeah but
1:01:58
also Apollo rightfully so why Woody there's been no background check on Rocky this guy can really SWAT why do
1:02:05
you think I'm sitting here he says in part three Apollo was a combination of felt the power that Rocky has surprised
1:02:13
him he wasn't ready he wasn't ready to take the punch yeah so Paul was doing his little dance into the show like I'm
1:02:18
gonna kind of do this and almost said oops it connected and oof the competition surprise and you hear him
1:02:25
saying like come on son come on come on chop like you got in there and like basically invited him to hit him in the face
1:02:30
and then he got hit way harder than he thought underhand what it does to now to
1:02:37
Apollo is he's pissed he's embarrassed he gets angry which I like we know again
1:02:42
in part two when Rocky asks him in the hospital did you give me your best did you give me everything you had it was at
1:02:47
this point onward that that is true Creed's not messing around anymore and that God I can't like watch Apollo now
1:02:54
without thinking of Muhammad Ali style of fighting it's hard now that I've seen
1:03:00
that fight that's what I see now is Apollo being Muhammad Ali additionally that pissed Muhammad like it's very like
1:03:08
you said he's pissed now and because he's embarrassed and the same was true when Muhammad got
1:03:13
I'm down yeah and he's like oh crap this guy was supposed to just be some bum from the neighborhood and of course
1:03:19
audiences at home in the theater were probably like oh Rocky's gonna win so it's a great plot device too to make you
1:03:25
think
1:03:31
well you see him dancing oh you asked uh those who might not for you to ask what's Rocky thinking here he's I think
1:03:36
he's just a surprise too because he's kind of bouncing around like oh yeah I did something because he kind of bounces around he's a little bit got some
1:03:42
nervous energy here with that you know what in reality right here made him just not another bum from the
1:03:48
neighborhood this is the first time the champion has ever been knocked down in 46 fights you knocked him down your very
1:03:55
first hit Rocky's on two things in this fight knocked down the champ and go and went the distance I think we maybe would
1:04:02
forget that the champion we all have to talk about the distance part but yeah there you go and in the first round no
1:04:07
less first 25 seconds I'm sure that imbues him with some confidence for the rest of the fight
1:04:13
yeah I have something here this is the first time the champions never been knocked down
1:04:20
[Applause] here
1:04:25
okay so that's stung that stung Paul's glassy-eyed and now Mickey's already
1:04:30
yelling now go to the ribs go to work Rock the reason they want Rocky to go to the ribs so bad is one he's good at it
1:04:37
like go to your strength and two when you wear down someone's body they're unable to hit you in the same fashion
1:04:44
that's the only way Apollo is going to slow down or become less brutal is if you wear his body down and Apollo is
1:04:51
good at blocking his face too it's hard to get in there but yeah all of those things yeah
1:04:58
oh it says Mickey says go to the ribs go to work Rock but it's actually Mike's voice right yeah it's interesting okay it was
1:05:05
mislabeled as Mickey I get it wrong sometimes they do these options are not very good it's not well they're not bad
1:05:11
but it is the Blu-ray captions but yeah whoever did them might not have known the District of Mickey or Mike's voice
1:05:16
you know [Applause]
1:05:36
Apollo we know [Applause]
1:05:46
[Applause]
1:05:52
[Music] [Applause]
1:05:59
they're quite surprised that Rocky was able to back Apollo up into the ropes but Apollo that doesn't seem now he
1:06:05
seems he's kind of hulking up a little bit like those punches were coming in and now Paul is rubbing his face no more
1:06:10
you know like you're not gonna hurt me again he's getting that Championship feelings coming back at him a little bit
1:06:15
here for sure okay so this is another Ali thing that Stallone probably got if you watch that Frasier Ali fight Frazier
1:06:23
will land a really nasty body shot or shot to the chin and then Ali will tie him up and then
1:06:29
he'll nod like this like no no no it didn't hurt me didn't hurt me like he does that to everyone and so like Apollo
1:06:35
is kind of doing the same thing here the coin I did learn from watching that fight too I always thought when they get
1:06:41
hung up in the ropes that that's like a bad the person on the ropes is in trouble but I learned that Ali is known
1:06:48
for doing that to give himself a rest yeah oh that's very unconventional it's like something it's called the
1:06:54
rope-a-dope which he which he invented yeah everyone gets pissed off at him for doing that yeah okay that I knew they're
1:07:01
open I've heard that term before but I never knew what it meant because it rhymes
1:07:09
[Applause]
1:07:18
yeah yeah I never caught that before Donald you ever caught that one before you're posing as a boxer that's is that
1:07:24
a new piece of dialogue for listeners so Apollo taunting Rocky saying not a bomb he didn't say bum this is your poser
1:07:30
that's a Canadian term and then the announcers are saying there's no way we expected this kind of hitting we got
1:07:35
Rocky's hitting power expected this kind of hit him oh no way General is the ability of the champion according
1:07:42
[Applause] to left he really tied him up against
1:07:48
the Rope open nose his nose is broke first time a
1:07:54
lot of first in this first round that would be scored as a dock down for Apollo there right at the end of the round if you go down on your knees to
1:08:01
knock down Apollo I think technically won that round even though he got knocked down got the majority of the
1:08:08
shots in they both got a knock down I love how they've cut to Adrian now it's like rocket got his nose broke right at
1:08:14
the end it's almost like this spiritual connection like something's happened to my man something for the first time the
1:08:20
crowd going nuts there's like what's happening I totally understand the not I would not want to see my loved one get
1:08:28
the [ __ ] kicked out of them but my curiosity would get to me I guess you're at the end because she watches the final
1:08:33
moments but yeah she's probably like why is this taking so long yeah
1:08:44
I mean that's not the last time the rocky goes to the wrong corner do you remember that happened to him again actually no I remember that happening to
1:08:51
who was that somebody was in the room it happened to Adonis that's what it was
1:08:57
okay yeah he went to the wrong corner so there you go a little nod to the first film going to the wrong Corner yeah Apollo's cocky ears like I called and I
1:09:04
called it I told you I told you yeah he's trying to remind the crowd that he's champ but he's embarrassed to him
1:09:09
your nose is broke it that's an improvement yeah so now Tony even after
1:09:16
the first round is giving some okay quit shucking and driving stick and move now Tony's like okay okay let's just shows
1:09:23
all shows over Apollo this is a fight now this guy is hurting you even though you're pretending it doesn't hurt I know
1:09:29
you as a fighter you're not not hurt yeah I want you to quit chucking and Diving and you can stick and move go for
1:09:35
the ribs just don't let that bastard breathe it goes great he doesn't know
1:09:41
it's a damn show he thinks it's a damn fight finish this bomb and let's go home
1:09:46
another bomb let me just I'm count you guys I could still win you still here
1:09:51
we're up to 18 now [Applause]
1:10:04
came back strong at the end of the first oh and he's working out okay on the hard right and I'm coming in
1:10:11
he's watching you might end with the partner right now the Champions
1:10:20
oh Balboa is taking it tremendous meaning here
1:10:28
[Applause]
1:10:33
Apollo's like throwing and laying waste to him like a punching bag as the
1:10:39
announcer said to Rocky because Rocky is just not fighting back and even Paul says stop Clowning Around aren't you
1:10:44
gonna fight me back like he's almost kind of irritated that Rocky's taking the punches without giving any
1:10:49
I think it's a bit of psychological warfare too throwing someone taking their confidence out why is it bugging
1:10:56
appalled that he's not fighting back he's trying to to go to him and he's saying come on let's make a fight to this he's I got bored of punching you in
1:11:02
the face like it doesn't look good if I'm just Punchy like a Punchy bag let's have a real fight here he wants to take out Rocky's confidence he knows Rocky's
1:11:09
more confident after that knock down he got in the first round so I think he's he's playing mind games with him a bit
1:11:15
too he still wants to give the crowd a show though he's so worried about the crowd good for Apollo
1:11:21
[Applause] you folks and Ted your television around
1:11:27
the world you're watching a battle [Applause] [Music]
1:11:33
oh boy got himself out of there but he just
1:11:40
can't do it I love it the camera was showing the fight through a puff of smoke I totally forget that you could
1:11:48
the people were smoking in this Coliseum people were spoken to the Chuck Wagner
1:11:53
and Ali fight people are smoking yeah that was hilarious I love this just nuts but yeah the camera was like
1:11:59
I kind of forget about these things I do kind of love the 70s a little bit oh yeah
1:12:04
yeah that's whose smoke it was Jurgens at the side of the ringer because this is his
1:12:10
man Paulo you know this is his money maker too because he's a promoter right but I love his face here he's even
1:12:15
worried even Jurgens is a little worried as The champ is being barraged with lefts and rights to the head and the body so Jurgens the scene Rocky fight
1:12:22
back now again in the second round and Jurgens is like oof I don't know if cree's Gonna Knock this guy down in three this is a hard round to score
1:12:30
Creed piles up the points early in the round Rocky is laying down some serious shots
1:12:37
here hard hard head and body shots that are unanswered boys
1:12:50
[Applause]
1:12:57
hey it's gonna be a tough one there we go this is where it kicks
1:13:02
what's this song what's this song Ryan it's uh put me on the spot now isn't it
1:13:08
war or something uh or the battle it's great I don't know either oh God we're
1:13:13
the worst I love it the music helps this so much and it's like oh we're in it to win it now yeah I might have to mute it
1:13:21
the music it's the music that gets the big hits on these it's not a huge huge
1:13:26
deal but I might have to mute the music so I'm just kind of torn what to do here it should be fine it's not a huge deal
1:13:33
it won't get blocked it'll just get claimed which just means I'm about to edit this sooner than later because I it
1:13:38
takes time to clear all right so well I'll just muted I'll just
1:13:43
actually just move because right now we're getting of course the round Montage I guess we could just speak to
1:13:49
it more because it's just the music with the Montage of the fighting so we're already at round seven their faces are
1:13:55
getting more pulverized beaten up bloodied puffy and the punches seem to be
1:14:01
more or less back and forth even it seems like Apollo's been laying down most of the
1:14:07
punishment we're already around 13. I forgot how fast it gets to round 13 wow okay yeah I forgot that too but this
1:14:14
this montage is excellent music makes it right here this is like Apollo you see
1:14:21
the Panic you see the fatigue and panic and worry in his face his eyes are puffed up it's harder to tell because of
1:14:27
his skin tone uh so he's been damaged here Rocky's is bouncing off the canvas like crazy he's up against the rose
1:14:33
bounce off the Rope he's lifting himself off the canvas it's so weird to watch this without them using well we're gonna
1:14:38
work hard we'll do the music and we'll just calm down without the music though okay if you want to go on YouTube go watch it a million times on YouTube We
1:14:45
you guys we're gonna get to it so we're going to the part now of course it's round 14 that's actually the name of
1:14:51
course Tim who's in our chat right now that's the name of his podcast around 14 podcasts because round 14 as most Rocky
1:14:59
fans very few Rocky fans would not say that this moment in round 14 is the
1:15:05
pivotal it's the moment rightfully so round 14 is the moment what's keeping
1:15:10
him up Bill I don't know it's so that's from the wepner fight too it's too hard to watch now having seen I mean it's
1:15:17
great I loved that fight but now I'm I am noticing a lot of similarities [Music]
1:15:32
[Applause] down down stay down big moment here
1:15:39
Mickey he loves Rocky or cares for his fighter deeply and he's saying look dude
1:15:45
great you're getting killed out there just stay down take the knock down
1:15:50
stay down and Apollo has his arms in the air like he's won the fight Vicky's telling his fighter stay down but what
1:15:56
Mickey doesn't know and only what the audience and Ager knows at this moment is that Rocky wants to go the distance
1:16:02
he wants to make it to round 15 and then he wants to still be standing when that
1:16:07
bell rings and I'm still standing he'll know for the first time in his life he's just on another bump from the
1:16:13
neighborhood that's what he's fighting for right now to get up on this round can I ask you guys what you think of or
1:16:20
if your feelings have changed over time about Mickey telling him to stay down he just didn't know he didn't know what
1:16:26
Rocky wanted he's protecting his fighter he's acting like a real trainer to him it's not about going like in Mickey's
1:16:31
eyes we already talked about it he's knocked down the champ he wasn't knocked out in three rounds like pre-producted
1:16:37
he's already done more than anyone ever expected but at this point Mickey cares for his fighter and we know that Mickey
1:16:42
does care for Rocky's health and well-being so it's natural for him to tell his fighter look live to fight it
1:16:48
another day as they say right don't put yourself out there right now and Tony does the same for Paul don't go toe-to-toe with this guy just take the
1:16:54
points their job is managers and trainers is a protector fighter they don't care about little personal victories that the fighter might have in
1:17:01
their mind Donald brought up an interesting point I've thought about this too where he says around 14 should have been the last round like this
1:17:06
should have been the last round of Rocky getting up and that's an interesting point because it might it let's pretend
1:17:12
round 15 was around 14. so you got rocky punching him in the ribs punch him in
1:17:17
the ribs and Apollo's hurt and then they go to the 15th round the final round Rocky does get knocked down he stands up
1:17:25
and he doesn't get counted out but the bell rings I think that this is necessary so that we see Apollo's face
1:17:31
it's one of the famous scenes in the movie that Apollo's like oh my well you'd eliminate yeah that would be
1:17:37
eliminated you wouldn't have that reaction you're right yeah I think we need that I find that really effective an effective part of the movie in mind
1:17:43
oh yeah I'm sure Donald does too but I I thought the same thing done over the years minus that face comment there okay
1:17:49
that's a good point it is kind of an interesting choice to have it here but
1:17:54
still the best part of the films in the air
1:18:00
stuff and she knows this is important because
1:18:07
she knows what Rocky wants to accomplish she was the only person that knows now she's out there watching hopefully that
1:18:14
this will happen she can barely look at her fighter man climbing up those ropes
1:18:19
foreign [Applause] [Music]
1:18:24
[Applause] in the winter fight is when they said
1:18:31
you're done I was thinking that too that's right which is what would really because that's in real life
1:18:37
this is your job isn't rough Lou Filippo we'll let you fight until you die
1:18:42
literally Kyle I was thinking of you as I was watching that this ref Tony Perez
1:18:48
does call stuff unlike Kyle's vitral Lutheran podcast Series
1:18:56
has been hilarious it's awesome dying
1:19:02
I love that right there and she knows he did it he made it
1:19:07
[Music] at all I think she I think she should
1:19:13
still have one more round to go nobody caught up that she served no I think it's a combination of well of course
1:19:19
she's always worried I think she puts her eyes down this is how interpret it means art we're all gonna interpret different I think inside she's like
1:19:27
okay okay he he did that he did that I think it was like an intake of okay
1:19:33
interesting I didn't take it that way because she looks away I think she's
1:19:40
like shocked bewildered saddened concerned that he is in the shape that
1:19:45
he's in she's seeing him struggle so she's seen that too but I think she's I
1:19:50
think above that she's happy that he's doing what he wanted to accomplish but
1:19:56
he's witnessing the surviving that Roundup but yeah I mean yeah who knows
1:20:08
can't believe a great line [Applause] now Rocky's ready to keep fighting or he
1:20:15
gets this energy from who knows yeah he gets some rip shots in you break some Roots now that really hurt Apollo he's
1:20:21
crunched over and that's the end of round 14. yeah this has been tremendous
1:20:27
[Applause]
1:20:34
he did come back hard I mean he was like barely able to stand up and then all of a sudden he had that energy to like
1:20:40
break a couple things around strong yeah and he broke a couple ribs in the process yeah
1:20:46
us an internal Orchid damage Tony somehow knows that Apollo's internally
1:20:52
bleeding yep well he just said it may broke my ribs Paul does tell Tony right here breaking ribs and internal bleeding
1:20:57
are different I can't see nothing gotta open my eye coming [ __ ]
1:21:17
the recap of part two they don't show that blood come out when they do the edit it's funny
1:21:23
they spare us the blood yeah it's funny how close Rocky came to winning this because like Tony if he had his way he
1:21:29
would have stopped that fight you ain't stopping nothing Donald brings up a good point regarding Mickey stay down stay
1:21:34
down he says that Mickey could have thrown the towel but he doesn't throw a towel that's true that there is an alternative
1:21:40
reason he could have said stay down which I don't necessarily believe but when you get knocked down sometimes it's
1:21:47
best not to get up really fast Oh you talked about a kind of a resting moment yeah yeah you get some slow
1:21:53
though but you're right Kyle that it could have been interpreted that way as well as I've thought about it longer I
1:21:59
do agree that I think Mickey wanted him to stay down right Mickey wants it to be Rocky's decision so yeah I don't think
1:22:06
Mickey's going to take that from him I think Tony is the same way like Tony really wants to stop the fight but then
1:22:12
he knows if he did that how badly that would hurt Apollo agreed they cut me
1:22:17
Nick peace it's hard to watch I'm not queasy about things usually but I've
1:22:22
always found that really hard to watch because he just does it it's like a box cutter it looks like that he's using I
1:22:30
don't really understand what that does so the blood was pushing his eye down now with the blood out he can open his
1:22:36
eye the liquid push his eyelid down now he can open it up he can lift his eyelid up and see they have a sealant that they
1:22:42
are able to stop the bleeding like a quick seal on their skin yeah okay I think also you could cut it in a way or
1:22:48
maybe the blood goes down the side of your face there okay I think it is a move of desperation to cut someone like
1:22:54
that though you can't do that can you not anymore oh not anymore okay um yeah Rocky
1:23:01
probably would have your eye getting close like that would have disqualified you from fighting
1:23:07
I can create and the doctor looked at his eye and they had to cheat that's right yep that's right type tap on the
1:23:13
back of the head you start this fight I'll show you
1:23:21
want to go all right
1:23:27
now Mickey's giving up a given advice he goes I I ain't stop enough you want to
1:23:32
go go so you got his meanders away and it's Mike that gives him the pet dog you
1:23:37
gotta go get him so I don't know it kind of is a weird exit of Mickey's part like all right you want to get your head
1:23:43
caved in you kind of just suckers off it's an odd it's like if you want to get killed kid it's your head but even when
1:23:50
Rocky says I don't think I noticed this before when Rocky says cut me Mick Mickey says I don't wanna he's like come
1:23:57
on come here I don't want it right it's not a very good exit there of Mickey that's the last we see Mickey more less
1:24:03
as a character in this film as far as I think speaking dialogue maybe I'm not sure I can't remember I don't think he says much in the end but this is kind of
1:24:09
an odd accidentally all right your head kicked in yeah all right okay there's something here that's always bugged me I
1:24:15
know it's not that important of a detail ah you'll see here that the front of
1:24:21
Rocky's trunks the waistband is inverted for some reason he didn't start the fight that way it's like all twisted up
1:24:28
and messed up somehow that happened I don't know how that happened but but it did and then Mike tries to fix it but fails
1:24:34
and he keeps fighting like that I don't know why that bugs the [ __ ] out of me there is always something about the
1:24:41
waistband they're always like messing with it or pulling on it in the corner
1:24:48
boxing charms without these waistband issues yeah even in that Ali fight there was when they showed him in the corner
1:24:54
one time and they were doing something with his weight I'm like what are they doing the fighters do at least nowadays
1:25:00
and they might have in the Ali fight they do have some padding there along the bottom of your way you're not supposed to hit a fighter anyway so
1:25:06
you're like hitting low oh I go on the hip and that can get kind of misaligned and stuff and they have to have a
1:25:11
gesture shorts that way to ensure everything's proper but it looks like Rocky and Apollo or old school here and
1:25:16
I just wearing shorts but man like fixes getting banned
1:25:22
[Applause] foreign [Applause]
1:25:34
[Applause]
1:25:43
Frank senior okay first of all he's a handsome dude so that tracks second of
1:25:49
all it's Frank senior Frank is younger than Sly so why would it be Frank Jr
1:25:54
yeah I'm 90 sure it's Frank senior well no it doesn't work like that yes Frank's a younger brother but it's just if
1:26:00
you've named it after your death if you're named after the dead you're the junior yeah sorry I what I meant was
1:26:06
I always thought the first and only you can choose whichever order of child to name after that it's usually just the
1:26:12
first born child that's named after the father right yeah my oldest son's named after me but we call him by his middle
1:26:19
name really yeah it's just interesting but he's gone by both throughout his life some people call him Ryan so really
1:26:25
yeah buddy fun fact yeah fun fact [Applause]
1:26:31
[Music] [Applause]
1:26:36
foreign [Applause]
1:26:46
[Music] [Applause]
1:27:16
these two Katie they've been in a war the Rocky's face has got to the point where they want to stop this a while
1:27:22
back yeah mind you a Paul's eyes are pretty swollen too looks terrible you'll notice on Apollo's
1:27:28
left shoulder there's a red spot where apparently he's taken some shot on his
1:27:34
arm there thank you there's a hard right the champion really
1:27:40
tagged him bunch of policy to get in from now on yeah the ball will be punching a
1:27:46
punching bag for the rest of this round because Apollo's clearly protecting his right side his ribs
1:27:56
[Applause]
1:28:06
right
1:28:13
[Applause] now
1:28:20
Highway he he was a head shot is the last punch
1:28:28
good call Kyle it was close though man that was brutal the crowd at this point
1:28:34
probably thinks oh my God he's gonna win oh my God theater goers he's gonna win he's gonna win it had the round last and
1:28:41
another all things being equal that was another minute of fighting let's just say another minute was allotted for the 15th round let's say like for the final
1:28:47
round they were given another minute Rocky would have eventually like a tree would have I think it would have
1:28:53
eventually Fallen Apollo there was another round like say that round ended but then okay now it's round 16 then
1:29:00
they used to just fight till someone was knocked down like way back when 100 years ago type of thing like there'd be
1:29:08
50 rounds or something like it'd be insane like some fights would just go forever until someone gets knocked out
1:29:13
yeah for the point system probably yeah wow it's funny that I like watching this
1:29:19
kind of stuff the thought of having broken ribs and then they keep getting punched at can you imagine no the pain
1:29:26
would be excruciating the rightfully went to a hospital after this yeah yeah like a Paul's coughing up blood and it's
1:29:33
funny Rocky too they really make his face look a lot worse than here they do and then Apollo they make his face look
1:29:39
lot better than here and make it seem like Rocky took such a worse beating than Apollo which I think he did in
1:29:45
general but Apollo is like coughing up blood and has like organ damage and stuff a lot of
1:29:51
Apollo's wounds from the fight they can't be easily seen all those body shots
1:29:57
[Applause] now that's a very interesting thing
1:30:03
because this was written course without sequels necessarily in mind or the even if they were ever going
1:30:09
to get one but they made it very clear right at the end this was written and recorded ain't gonna be no rematch
1:30:16
Paul does not want to fight this guy again at this moment doesn't want to go through this again and broccoli says I
1:30:21
don't want one yeah I think you could argue that those were their true intentions at the time and then things change but yeah I think it was this was
1:30:28
not written to have a sequel this was not written probably with they never knew how big this was gonna get I think
1:30:34
Sly knew there was I think he had a second one to mind I actually do think that and I don't know quite what the
1:30:39
timeline is but this was could have even been a longer film or something to that
1:30:44
effect I think the rematch was always an idea that rock sorry Sly had I could be wrong foreign
1:30:57
[Music]
1:31:05
s how do you feel what are you thinking about when I punch yourself
1:31:17
[Applause]
1:31:31
so there you go Jurgen saying tonight we've witnessed an exhibition of the
1:31:36
most incredible stamina in the ring so he's he's announcing this is the greatest fight that's ever happened they
1:31:42
also have like one police officer trying to dissipate this massive crowd there's
1:31:48
like zero security which I also noticed in the Ali fight I'm like they just people just charge in and there's no
1:31:55
security also Adrian it's I get that they do it for the movie but she's at the back of the right Stadium or
1:32:02
whatever Coliseum this is saying rocky rocky it's the cheesy not cheesy but
1:32:09
it's uh they're both calling for each other through the chaos I know the masses yeah of course they both can't
1:32:15
hear each other but they're both calling for each other yeah [Applause]
1:32:21
so there's the classic hat so that hat falling off I don't know why it was filmed I don't get the purpose of it
1:32:27
but it was on purpose they used a fishing line on the back of Talia shire's hat so when she ran forward it
1:32:34
would be snagged off it'd fall off like it fell off in the crowd and then of course Rocky does the famous where's your hood I don't know I think it's the
1:32:42
idea is is that he's just knows everything about her thinks of her like you lost your hat that cute little hat
1:32:47
where to go so even after he's been through the biggest fight in his life and the moment his life he's just he's concerned about Adrian's clothes you
1:32:53
know like you notice that her Hat's missing now she's all that is important to you plus he just completed his
1:32:59
personal goal everything's all about Adrian he notices the little things which women really dig sure yeah
1:33:07
hey baby
1:33:23
the judges are scoring it close but the ones I've scored at 8-7 for creed
1:33:28
because she's Rocky won seven of the 15 rounds so you don't really see that in the fight you mostly see Rocky getting
1:33:34
punched around like he obviously won the last round but there were a lot of rounds to skip that we didn't see as a viewer but still oh that's a good point
1:33:41
I def definitely think Apollo won but I don't think it was extremely lopsided
1:33:53
as water rematch I love those fans how did you get that information so quickly your fans want to rematch it was that on
1:33:58
Twitter or did you read that quick poll your fans whatever yeah we asked a couple people on my way to the ring and
1:34:04
they want you to have a rematch now there is a best part and that's not caption did you hear what he said there
1:34:11
are not from my face today yeah get those microphones out of them I've had enough things in my face today I love that it's gonna go back I want to watch
1:34:17
that play out again it's not capturing of course
1:34:26
[Applause] you heard him ladies
1:34:38
[Applause] I miss that so no Mickey anywhere which
1:34:45
is weird Mickey's nowhere in sight he's probably the side of the Ring Luke is in Rocky 3 having a heart attack
1:34:51
he's having a mini heart attack on the side of the ring but there's no Mickey anywhere next to Rocky but Jimmy slash
1:34:58
Mike is there next to Rocky Watch Rocky push it push Mike out of the way to get the agent watch this did you catch that
1:35:04
watch watch Rocky pushing but get the F out of your watch
1:35:17
[Applause] I love you
1:35:26
[Music]
1:35:34
I'm almost ready for the Rocky 2 soundtrack to come in
1:35:40
guys I'm getting texts from upstairs okay no worries yeah break it out of
1:35:45
your car we'll wrap it up you will see you later guys we'll see you in two weeks this was the perfect ending no
1:35:51
rematch they telling each other that they love each other I think Bert looks amazing Polly really cleans up well in
1:35:57
his suit and do you notice how he said stop your break in the suit not you're tearing the suit but breaking it
1:36:03
breaking this and he helped they ran into this so you know like they've made up they're good now it's like a perfect
1:36:09
ending however but it's not cheesy no it's perfect it's a beautiful romantic closure on everything I mean those
1:36:16
arguments to be made they should never have done the sequels I hear those arguments I do but I'm curious would we
1:36:23
be doing a podcast no no exactly it would have been a Best
1:36:28
Picture Winner still like that still would have happened because that was in independent of the sequels that were written afterwards that's why I always
1:36:34
will love the sequels because I think it just drew attention at least to the original I think the sequels brought in
1:36:40
a larger audience they did and I think that large audience me being one of them as a young kid I saw the original I
1:36:46
don't know I don't know I don't know if eight-year-old Ryan would have investigated or 12 year old Ryan would
1:36:51
have investigated and so forth the Rocky film I think the sequels endear the first film more in some uh
1:36:58
that's a really good way of putting it Ryan agreed I saw the sequels before I saw the original it's an entire
1:37:05
phenomenon the steps running the museum the statue like no we wouldn't have
1:37:10
anything we wouldn't have any steps I guarantee if this movie stood on its own would there be a a tour in Philadelphia
1:37:18
would there be people running up the steps I think the sequels were popular culture iconic films that Drew attention
1:37:26
to the original film which thus created the Legacy that we have now because people see all the films cheap in the
1:37:32
sequel I would argue the sequels endear the original film more yeah well that is
1:37:38
