It’s easy to think of passive income as money earned while relaxing at the beach having your own time but there is lots of work involved.
Today I’m talking about the dirty secret of passive income. Passive income is like this holy grail that everybody wants. I just want to have a real talk with you because I totally believe that you can make money easily. Genecia Alluora: Hello, gorgeous. I'm Genecia Alluora. I'm your host for today. And in today's episode, I want to talk about the dirty secret of passive income. Now, this is a little bit disappointing to hear, maybe later, but if you've been involved in personal development industry or the entrepreneurial industry, passive income is like this holy grail that everyone wants. Now, I don't blame you because it's very awesome. I've experienced it myself, but I just want to have some real talk with you. I wouldn't go as far as to say that there's this myth of passive income because I totally believe that you can make money easily. And I absolutely do. However, sometimes and something really interesting happens to women when they start trying to make efforts to leverage the income to grow their teams. And it also happened to me as well. When I started my business, it was a standard coaching business, right? You pay me the money and then we have a session and then it has to be done.

Genecia Alluora: So I work, I get paid, I work, I get paid, right? And I had to constantly market to find new clients. So I wanted to do something more leveraged income. That means to do that, I need to create a group coaching program so I can have like 5, 10, 20 people, whatever, on the course, or a Mastermind group, right? $100,000 Mastermind group. But now you see, the workload was the same, but I was like, Oh, I could make a lot more money doing that. Now, here's each of the interesting thing that happened when I started to create those group coaching programs and Mastermind programs. First and foremost, I was like, This is amazing because it's like passive income, but I actually feel quite guilty about it. I felt myself resistant to marketing my course because I thought, but I created that already. It's weird that people are still paying me for it. I realized that I had to feel like I was working incredibly hard, pulling all the midnight oil, typing away 10 minutes before the deadline, and having those one on one conversations with people, and honestly just being stressed all the time to feel like it was worth it.

Genecia Alluora: I was missing the blood, sweat, and tears part of the business, and I felt really guilty about it. I mean, even though I wanted more leveraged income for a very long time. And when it actually came to be, I was like, this doesn't feel right. This is too easy. Am I doing something weird here? I hear this from a lot of other women. They actually have a lot of fears and blocks around this. It's like, who would I be if this was easy? What if I didn't have to work so hard? And it does not feel right in your body. Now, you might be one of those people who are like, What is she talking about? I love passive income. I've got no problem receiving it. Well, that's good for you. And this podcast is probably not for you. So just switch it off now, make your money and enjoy it.

Genecia Alluora: But if this is resonating with you at this moment and you like it and you are resisting this, I've got a couple of extra tips for you. They're going to be really crucial for your success. Are you ready? One, respect your journey. Now, the first one is to respect your journey. You're probably just at the start of your money blocks journey and you are totally just on it. I found that creating something that's passive income actually requires a lot of work at the beginning, not just the mindset stuff, but practical stuff. You've got to build your newsletter list, you've got to testimonials, you've got to create the sales page, let alone creating the passive income vehicle in the first place. I know so many women who have done almost the course and then sit in front of the computer all day long, or they've got not quite perfect eBook ready to go, that could just make them money eventually. But why are they? And why are you resisting? Because it's your money blocks, right? That's it. You have to deal with the resistance of receiving money, especially receiving easy money. You mean making that $7 self liquidating offer in the value ladder, or that $17 in the self liquidating offer in your value ladder, or that coaching call over where the leads come over podcast, like you're listening to my podcast show and then booking me for a clarity call or a coaching call. Oh, it's easy money.

Genecia Alluora: And then you have so much resistance about that. So you have to deal with that. Second is your money blocks. And the thing is, easy money goes against the culture of this world, especially in Asia. If you don't work hard because it's not the culture that we have because you have to work as hard as a cow. Or maybe your parents work really hard for their money. Maybe it feels weird to make easy money. Maybe you feel guilty that other people in your world don't have the same opportunities and vision as you. Now, this is crucial stuff. Like when I was an image consultant, I was charging $5,000 for 10 sessions in pageant coaching and charisma coaching. In a package, $5,000 when people were chatting, $300 for eight sessions. And I mean, you feel weird, I feel weird. But then again, if all these things are blocking you, then this is the exact stuff that is going to hold you back.

Genecia Alluora: Obviously, you need to have the marketing, the mechanism, the funnels, the launch, all that stuff, the actual product. But the most important thing for you to work on right now is your money block around it. Passive income honestly will change your life. It has changed mine.
