00;00;05;05 - 00;00;06;19
Hey, everyone, welcome back to Redlands
00;00;06;19 - 00;00;09;20
Rundown, the official podcast of Redlands
Community College.
00;00;09;20 - 00;00;11;12
Where
we're committed to helping our students
00;00;11;12 - 00;00;13;15
find success in the classroom
and the careers
00;00;13;15 - 00;00;15;14
and with everything in between.
00;00;15;14 - 00;00;17;12
I'm very excited about today's episode.
00;00;17;12 - 00;00;21;06
It's something that I've kind of had
in the back of my mind and wanted to do,
00;00;21;06 - 00;00;24;09
and I thought coming up on Christmas break
and everybody getting ready
00;00;24;28 - 00;00;27;16
to go home for a little bit
was the perfect time
00;00;27;16 - 00;00;31;05
to have Miss Julie Lamb,
our student counselor, join us.
00;00;31;05 - 00;00;32;12
So I'm very excited about her.
00;00;32;12 - 00;00;33;02
Thanks Kenzie.
00;00;33;02 - 00;00;35;15
So yeah, I was rather me I'm looking forward to it.
00;00;35;15 - 00;00;39;11
So before we dive into any of our topics
and the questions I have for you,
00;00;39;11 - 00;00;43;12
I just want you to tell our listeners
a little bit about who you are,
00;00;43;12 - 00;00;46;12
your role here at Redlands,
and kind of what that looks like for you.
00;00;47;01 - 00;00;50;01
I am the student mental health council
for Redlands,
00;00;50;02 - 00;00;52;22
and I'm available to help students
who may be suffering
00;00;52;22 - 00;00;57;05
from anxiety, depression,
adjusting the college life and culture.
00;00;57;15 - 00;00;59;07
Really just anything that comes up.
00;00;59;07 - 00;01;04;10
And I also connect them to student
support providers in the community.
00;01;04;27 - 00;01;07;15
And I would just like to give a shout out
to some of those,
00;01;07;15 - 00;01;11;11
because we had the absolute
best community partners in the county.
00;01;12;07 - 00;01;15;29
Examples include Canadian County Coalition
for Children and Families.
00;01;16;05 - 00;01;18;08
Donna Dyer with Blessing Vasquez.
00;01;18;08 - 00;01;19;14
What an angel.
00;01;19;14 - 00;01;24;17
Uh, tribal partners, Red Rock
behavioral health.
00;01;24;24 - 00;01;26;05
Just too many to list.
00;01;26;05 - 00;01;30;02
But we had the best partners,
and I just wanted to give them a shout out
00;01;30;02 - 00;01;32;12
because they're always available
to help our students.
00;01;32;12 - 00;01;32;21
Yeah.
00;01;32;21 - 00;01;33;10
Anyway,
00;01;33;10 - 00;01;36;15
yeah, we do have a really great community,
a lot of support from the people here.
00;01;36;16 - 00;01;39;08
And it is so awesome. Okay, great.
00;01;39;08 - 00;01;44;07
So we this is going to be coming out,
right as we're going into Christmas break.
00;01;44;07 - 00;01;49;12
And so really the
theme of the episode is rest and reset.
00;01;49;12 - 00;01;53;21
And so to start,
I want to talk about the basics
00;01;53;21 - 00;01;56;27
and what that means because it might mean
different things to different people.
00;01;57;19 - 00;02;01;09
And so from your perspective,
what does that look like?
00;02;01;24 - 00;02;06;08
And I always do just try to bring
in some student, perspective
00;02;06;08 - 00;02;09;15
because I written down some things
that they had given me feedback on.
00;02;09;24 - 00;02;13;16
And I love to share that
because it kind of helps you guys realize,
00;02;13;16 - 00;02;15;13
oh, someone else thinks like me, you know?
00;02;15;13 - 00;02;20;02
So when we talk about different things,
light, you know,
00;02;20;11 - 00;02;24;05
resetting and resting and all of that,
I mean, there's different areas.
00;02;24;05 - 00;02;28;11
There's mental rest, physical rest,
emotional rest.
00;02;28;20 - 00;02;32;12
And so mental students usually just say,
I need a brain break, right?
00;02;32;12 - 00;02;33;21
Yeah, we all need that.
00;02;33;21 - 00;02;35;24
And physical is just being still.
00;02;35;24 - 00;02;39;26
You know, catching up on their sleep
and then emotional may look like just
00;02;40;03 - 00;02;43;24
setting boundaries and that kind of thing
and and protecting their wellbeing.
00;02;43;27 - 00;02;44;12
Yeah.
00;02;44;12 - 00;02;48;06
So from your experience,
what are some things that typically
00;02;48;06 - 00;02;50;21
our students might misunderstand
about your rests.
00;02;50;21 - 00;02;51;10
Yeah.
00;02;51;10 - 00;02;53;20
And I had written
some of those things down.
00;02;53;20 - 00;02;56;20
But a lot of times
even all of us, not just students,
00;02;57;06 - 00;02;59;15
we get caught up in the hustle and bustle
00;02;59;15 - 00;03;03;06
of the holiday season with,
00;03;03;15 - 00;03;06;14
you know, just different kinds of demands.
00;03;07;03 - 00;03;09;20
One student, told me, and I wrote down
00;03;09;20 - 00;03;13;26
that they get caught up with, like,
social activities, we'll call it that.
00;03;13;26 - 00;03;15;10
You know, they get so busy
00;03;15;10 - 00;03;18;22
hanging out with their friends
that they forget to truly rest you.
00;03;19;00 - 00;03;19;18
Yeah.
00;03;19;18 - 00;03;23;24
And, so I think that's just so important
is to take the time to do that, to guard.
00;03;23;24 - 00;03;25;03
Our time to reset.
00;03;25;03 - 00;03;25;12
Yeah.
00;03;25;12 - 00;03;28;07
To really be intentional
about likely for sure.
00;03;28;07 - 00;03;32;00
And I have some questions later
on that I will kind of expand on that,
00;03;32;20 - 00;03;34;25
that I wanted
to pick your brain about, but,
00;03;34;25 - 00;03;38;28
now I want to now that we kind of have
a definition and an idea
00;03;38;28 - 00;03;43;09
of the different kinds of resting,
you know, physical, emotional,
00;03;44;09 - 00;03;46;15
mental health, all those different ones
00;03;46;15 - 00;03;49;16
I want to talk about how we know,
00;03;50;08 - 00;03;52;25
and how we can recognize that
we need that.
00;03;52;25 - 00;03;56;16
So, can you talk about some red flags
00;03;56;16 - 00;03;59;23
that you see this time of the year
so students can recognize as well?
00;03;59;24 - 00;04;01;18
I usually towards in the semester
00;04;01;18 - 00;04;04;18
when things are getting really hectic
and they're getting ready for finals,
00;04;04;27 - 00;04;09;08
you know, I see sometimes miss classes,
you know, lack
00;04;09;12 - 00;04;13;13
motivation, relationship issues,
that type of thing.
00;04;13;24 - 00;04;16;24
So, that's usually a red flag for me
that, you know,
00;04;16;24 - 00;04;19;24
okay, it's time for them
to, to get a rest.
00;04;19;24 - 00;04;23;02
And then one thing that I talk about
probably more
00;04;23;02 - 00;04;26;09
now as I've gotten a little bit
older, is stress and burnout.
00;04;26;09 - 00;04;29;10
And can you talk about the difference
between those two, especially how
00;04;29;10 - 00;04;32;17
they relate to our students
and how they can, you know, determine
00;04;32;17 - 00;04;35;28
which one of those they're having
and kind of how to handle that, for sure.
00;04;35;28 - 00;04;38;27
That's an excellent question
because we all have stress
00;04;39;02 - 00;04;42;14
and that's normal,
can actually motivate us to do our best.
00;04;44;12 - 00;04;47;11
You know, but burnout, it looks different.
00;04;47;11 - 00;04;50;28
I mean, that is when you have chronic long
term,
00;04;52;08 - 00;04;54;04
ongoing anxiety.
00;04;54;04 - 00;04;57;03
And that can actually be crippling.
00;04;57;03 - 00;05;00;07
You know,
sometimes it can affect our ability
00;05;00;07 - 00;05;05;12
to function or our ability
to just enjoy life in general.
00;05;05;12 - 00;05;08;15
And that's where we know
that we need to reach out for help.
00;05;08;20 - 00;05;09;12
Yeah. Yeah.
00;05;09;12 - 00;05;14;13
So there's and I think it's great that you
point out how stress can be a motivator.
00;05;14;22 - 00;05;17;26
You know, a little bit of pressure
submarines, it can be uncomfortable,
00;05;18;02 - 00;05;21;04
but it can really be good
when you've got big assignments coming up.
00;05;21;04 - 00;05;22;24
And yeah this will come out after finals.
00;05;22;24 - 00;05;25;26
But even as our students are getting ready
for the spring semester, to be able
00;05;25;26 - 00;05;29;11
to know that little bit of worry
and that little bit of stress
00;05;29;19 - 00;05;33;01
means that you care, you know,
and it's pushing you to do better.
00;05;33;01 - 00;05;35;18
Absolutely. Yeah.
So not letting it get to that point.
00;05;35;18 - 00;05;38;07
Yeah. As you're getting burnt out
by your reach out for healthy.
00;05;38;07 - 00;05;39;05
Yeah, absolutely.
00;05;39;05 - 00;05;42;03
And we never want our
our students to hesitate to reach out.
00;05;42;03 - 00;05;43;00
I mean, we,
00;05;43;00 - 00;05;46;19
we care about our students academically,
but we also want them to be successful
00;05;46;19 - 00;05;50;12
in life now and never be afraid
to reach out because we care.
00;05;50;12 - 00;05;53;02
There's so many people in community
available to help. Yeah.
00;05;53;02 - 00;05;55;18
And they will. Absolutely. Great.
00;05;55;18 - 00;06;00;09
Okay, so now that our students
finally get the chance to slow down
00;06;00;09 - 00;06;03;25
and take a break, we got, I don't know
how long is our Christmas break.
00;06;03;25 - 00;06;06;26
It's that we were just talking about it
several weeks, never weeks.
00;06;07;13 - 00;06;10;24
And so, especially for our students,
they are probably closer to a lesser
00;06;10;24 - 00;06;11;22
teammate.
00;06;11;22 - 00;06;14;11
And so I want to talk about what
00;06;14;11 - 00;06;17;28
an actual healthy rest looks like.
00;06;17;28 - 00;06;19;18
First. Yes.
00;06;19;18 - 00;06;22;29
So can you talk about some simple,
realistic ways,
00;06;23;15 - 00;06;27;22
that our students can actually implement
intentional rest or break for sure.
00;06;27;22 - 00;06;32;01
I think a good idea would be to unplug
from social media a little bit,
00;06;32;01 - 00;06;35;25
you know, really kind of monitor
that a lot of people are calling in, you
00;06;35;25 - 00;06;37;16
know, can really take hold in our psyches.
00;06;37;16 - 00;06;42;04
So, you know, that that other thing,
fresh air exercise,
00;06;42;17 - 00;06;45;09
you know, really just guarding our time.
00;06;46;21 - 00;06;49;21
To quiet our thoughts and reset.
00;06;50;02 - 00;06;51;11
Okay.
00;06;51;11 - 00;06;54;17
And then my next question is something
that I relate
00;06;54;17 - 00;06;59;12
to personally about feeling guilty
about not doing something.
00;06;59;21 - 00;07;01;20
It's hard for me to sit
00;07;01;20 - 00;07;05;17
and be still and not feel that,
like I need to do something.
00;07;05;17 - 00;07;07;25
And that's
when I start to do in school. Yeah.
00;07;07;25 - 00;07;10;24
And then I get anxious
because I spent three hours on TikTok.
00;07;10;24 - 00;07;12;11
Is that so?
00;07;12;11 - 00;07;13;08
What advice do you have?
00;07;13;08 - 00;07;17;22
Our first students that feel like they
have to be constantly doing something.
00;07;17;22 - 00;07;21;23
Right and express to you because we all,
as you mentioned, struggle with that.
00;07;21;23 - 00;07;26;15
But I can still see in this
that resting is actively productive
00;07;26;19 - 00;07;30;10
because it gives us that moment to pause
and focus on our mental health.
00;07;30;10 - 00;07;31;27
That helps us better prepare.
00;07;31;27 - 00;07;34;28
When we come back,
our focus is going to be sharper.
00;07;35;07 - 00;07;38;12
You know, we're going to be able
to to do better in classes
00;07;38;12 - 00;07;39;29
if we can just take that time to do it.
00;07;39;29 - 00;07;42;21
But we all sometimes feel guilty
in that transition.
00;07;42;21 - 00;07;46;26
A break is is difficult because of myself
as you mentioned,
00;07;46;26 - 00;07;49;28
you know, takes a couple of days to just
go, okay, what's my schedule today?
00;07;49;29 - 00;07;51;09
I don't have a schedule today.
00;07;51;09 - 00;07;53;05
And to really embrace that
00;07;53;05 - 00;07;56;19
and and take that time
to intentionally rest, say regroup.
00;07;56;20 - 00;07;57;00
Yeah.
00;07;57;00 - 00;08;02;04
Do you have any activities or small things
that you enjoy doing instead?
00;08;02;08 - 00;08;04;28
Because I am I'm guilty of deals
yelling oh, and sold.
00;08;04;28 - 00;08;05;10
Oh true.
00;08;05;10 - 00;08;08;26
I almost have to have like I love crafting
and little things like that.
00;08;08;26 - 00;08;09;21
You in coloring.
00;08;09;21 - 00;08;12;06
I know that seems kind of silly
me and older, but
00;08;12;06 - 00;08;15;13
is there anything that you recommend
for our students that maybe struggle
00;08;15;13 - 00;08;17;23
with that? Well,
that they can do to be intentional?
00;08;17;23 - 00;08;20;04
I think it's good for them
to focus on their hobbies,
00;08;20;04 - 00;08;21;26
whatever that they do for fun.
00;08;21;26 - 00;08;23;09
I had a student tell me that, you know,
00;08;23;09 - 00;08;25;19
I just want to read a book
that's not assigned.
00;08;25;19 - 00;08;27;19
Okay. So something like that.
00;08;27;19 - 00;08;31;16
I enjoy the outdoors of hiking,
being out, fresh air,
00;08;31;17 - 00;08;36;02
even if it's cold, just for a short amount
of time to breathe in a deep breathing
00;08;36;21 - 00;08;39;23
and really just spend time
connecting with family,
00;08;40;00 - 00;08;42;00
being around those
we love and making memories.
00;08;42;00 - 00;08;42;25
Yeah. Awesome.
00;08;42;25 - 00;08;46;15
I think those are all great
practical tips for our students to use to.
00;08;46;21 - 00;08;50;06
And like you said,
I think unplugging can be so helpful,
00;08;50;06 - 00;08;54;22
especially for that noise
in our head of everything else
00;08;54;22 - 00;08;56;29
in your mind,
running a million miles an hour
00;08;56;29 - 00;08;59;07
and actually getting to slow down
for a little bit.
00;08;59;07 - 00;09;00;10
Just take the time to do it.
00;09;00;10 - 00;09;02;14
Yeah, go bad about it. Absolutely.
00;09;02;14 - 00;09;03;03
Okay, great.
00;09;03;03 - 00;09;08;18
So, now that we've talked about some ways
that our students can really rest
00;09;08;18 - 00;09;11;18
and get the intentional
about that over break,
00;09;11;21 - 00;09;14;25
we know unfortunately, right
does not last forever.
00;09;15;02 - 00;09;16;24
We have to get ready
for the spring semester.
00;09;16;24 - 00;09;19;24
And it always comes up quicker
than sometimes we want it to.
00;09;19;29 - 00;09;24;05
But I want to talk about how our students
can reset before coming back.
00;09;24;05 - 00;09;26;28
And, so tell me. Sorry.
00;09;26;28 - 00;09;29;17
My thing is, zooming out,
00;09;29;17 - 00;09;31;21
so what are some things
that you would recommend
00;09;31;21 - 00;09;35;25
our students be thinking about
before January, before classes start
00;09;35;25 - 00;09;39;07
to really prep themselves, to come back
and have a good start coming back?
00;09;39;11 - 00;09;42;06
Yeah,
I think reflecting on the fall semester,
00;09;42;06 - 00;09;44;17
just looking back, say what worked,
what didn't work,
00;09;44;17 - 00;09;47;11
what could they do
differently to be more successful?
00;09;48;13 - 00;09;51;13
Setting small, achievable goals
that they can do,
00;09;51;18 - 00;09;57;05
not trying to take on too much at once,
and to also remember to take small breaks
00;09;57;05 - 00;10;01;29
during the semester and remember to shop
and have fun during the semester.
00;10;01;29 - 00;10;04;09
Don't wait for official breaks.
Yeah, absolutely.
00;10;04;09 - 00;10;08;10
And I, I think it's easy
to overload yourself
00;10;08;10 - 00;10;11;18
with a lot of different responsibilities
and especially some of our students
00;10;11;18 - 00;10;14;25
on campus that are on competitive teams.
00;10;14;25 - 00;10;19;04
And then, you know, they're involved
in other extracurriculars and so,
00;10;20;14 - 00;10;22;13
something
that I've always kind of lived by,
00;10;22;13 - 00;10;26;14
especially like in my professional career,
because I went from different industry
00;10;26;14 - 00;10;30;00
to different industry and never really
thought saw myself working in higher ed.
00;10;30;00 - 00;10;33;02
And I love that is being open
to different opportunities.
00;10;33;02 - 00;10;38;16
But I think to your point, also,
knowing when it's okay to say no
00;10;38;16 - 00;10;44;11
to protect your time and your energy,
so you're giving 100% to what you need.
00;10;44;11 - 00;10;45;23
Absolutely true.
00;10;45;23 - 00;10;48;06
And is balancing at word life school.
00;10;49;11 - 00;10;49;28
You know, keep
00;10;49;28 - 00;10;52;29
it perspective so that we can say
mentally well, throughout the semester.
00;10;52;29 - 00;10;54;20
Yeah, absolutely.
00;10;54;20 - 00;10;57;06
Do you have any tips to make that
00;10;57;06 - 00;11;01;12
transition from break into,
00;11;01;13 - 00;11;04;16
you know, really getting back
into the swing of things easier?
00;11;04;16 - 00;11;07;08
I know that's tough for a lot of students.
00;11;07;08 - 00;11;08;20
Do you have any tips for them there?
00;11;08;20 - 00;11;13;07
I would just say what I tell
students is try to adjust their schedule
00;11;13;07 - 00;11;17;16
a few days before semester starts,
maybe get up early a couple days before,
00;11;19;11 - 00;11;21;20
so they just so
they in the Easter getting up
00;11;21;20 - 00;11;23;26
and to maybe organize their space.
00;11;23;26 - 00;11;25;22
I think that's all work.
00;11;25;22 - 00;11;27;16
Get ready for that.
00;11;27;16 - 00;11;29;13
How that's going to look to them.
00;11;29;13 - 00;11;33;07
Maybe get a calendar start,
you know scheduling study
00;11;33;07 - 00;11;36;08
time and
and sorry to look at their syllabus.
00;11;36;08 - 00;11;40;16
And you know she was doing
and you know just get an idea
00;11;40;16 - 00;11;43;16
and start start getting that mindset
transition back to school.
00;11;43;16 - 00;11;44;22
Yeah I would agree.
00;11;44;22 - 00;11;48;06
And I think sometimes for me
the thought of something
00;11;48;06 - 00;11;50;20
is more overwhelming
than actually doing it.
00;11;50;20 - 00;11;54;02
And so, you know, for our students,
especially those that are enrolled
00;11;54;02 - 00;11;57;16
full time, that are take our 4
or 5 classes that thought of working
00;11;57;16 - 00;12;02;06
at all the assignments that are coming up
might be overwhelming,
00;12;02;19 - 00;12;06;15
but it feels for me,
and I'm a physical planner for.
00;12;06;26 - 00;12;09;26
And so I have a paper
where I write everything out.
00;12;10;08 - 00;12;12;08
It's kind of like,
00;12;12;08 - 00;12;14;12
satisfying for me
for to get that out of my head
00;12;14;12 - 00;12;16;08
and put it on paper
where I don't feel like
00;12;16;08 - 00;12;18;14
I have to carry that anymore,
and I can see it.
00;12;18;14 - 00;12;22;12
And something that helps me
is just taking things one day,
00;12;22;12 - 00;12;27;12
one thing at a time, and not focusing
on everything that you have coming up
00;12;27;12 - 00;12;31;24
and and really focusing on what's my top
priority, what do I need to work on first?
00;12;31;24 - 00;12;33;05
So I think those are great tips.
00;12;33;05 - 00;12;36;03
Are looking at your syllabus,
have time getting an idea of
00;12;36;03 - 00;12;37;26
you know what you need prepping.
00;12;37;26 - 00;12;39;18
Don't wait till that first day of classes.
00;12;39;18 - 00;12;42;08
Do look at
oh yes there and get the body on before.
00;12;42;08 - 00;12;43;13
Yeah. Then yeah.
00;12;43;13 - 00;12;45;21
Before I get the books before if you can.
00;12;45;21 - 00;12;49;13
And I know Sydney and I talked
about different ways of planning.
00;12;49;13 - 00;12;50;23
She's more of a digital.
00;12;50;23 - 00;12;52;18
I'm more of like a physical planner.
00;12;52;18 - 00;12;56;00
So whatever,
whatever style works best at our students.
00;12;56;00 - 00;12;57;24
But I think as long as you have something.
00;12;57;24 - 00;13;00;26
So that really helps. Yeah. For sure.
Yeah.
00;13;01;01 - 00;13;03;16
Okay, so I want to talk
00;13;03;16 - 00;13;06;20
a little bit
more about resources for our students.
00;13;06;20 - 00;13;09;29
So obviously your resource
for our students on campus,
00;13;10;16 - 00;13;12;18
how can our students reach out to you?
00;13;12;18 - 00;13;14;23
Get in touch with usual. Sure.
00;13;14;23 - 00;13;19;07
So even though classes won't start till,
I believe, at the 20th.
00;13;19;07 - 00;13;22;24
So we come back on the sticks that we fit.
00;13;23;26 - 00;13;25;16
And, so I will be on
00;13;25;16 - 00;13;30;02
campus on the fifth and available
for students that they will come by email,
00;13;30;02 - 00;13;34;23
call and also on the break,
we have Timely Care,
00;13;35;02 - 00;13;38;02
which is our new free for students
00;13;38;09 - 00;13;42;26
online resource
for mental health and physical health
00;13;43;06 - 00;13;47;07
so that, students can go online on canvas.
00;13;47;07 - 00;13;49;01
There's a link, you can just sign up.
00;13;49;01 - 00;13;50;27
There's a ton of care app.
00;13;50;27 - 00;13;56;14
They can go on and register
and they can get six sessions.
00;13;56;14 - 00;13;58;22
I am on that. I mean, six sessions,
00;13;58;22 - 00;14;02;11
scheduled counseling,
six sessions, a schedule, medical.
00;14;02;11 - 00;14;05;16
I mean, they can go, call
00;14;05;16 - 00;14;08;17
and get a doctor's appointment
from the match.
00;14;08;29 - 00;14;13;00
I mean, if you're sick, don't hesitate
to reach out because are six free,
00;14;14;17 - 00;14;16;03
counseling sessions a year is
00;14;16;03 - 00;14;19;10
six free medical sessions per year.
00;14;19;10 - 00;14;21;19
And there's two week or seven talk now.
00;14;21;19 - 00;14;23;21
They're just having, like, a rough day.
00;14;23;21 - 00;14;27;13
And then you some of the top two
this is available 24
00;14;27;13 - 00;14;30;26
seven for them
a medical now is also 24 seven.
00;14;30;26 - 00;14;31;23
And they're just say there.
00;14;31;23 - 00;14;34;09
And they know that
a sign is a text or something,
00;14;34;09 - 00;14;37;04
but they really don't have insurance
and already know the doctor.
00;14;37;04 - 00;14;39;26
They can call and data doctor
through timely care.
00;14;39;26 - 00;14;42;20
And they may be, words
in in a prescription.
00;14;42;20 - 00;14;45;05
Just do a video has an issue with them.
00;14;45;05 - 00;14;48;05
So it's such an amazing resource
for students.
00;14;48;12 - 00;14;52;08
And then there's also health coaching,
self-care content
00;14;52;15 - 00;14;55;16
is it really might be helpful
for them of the bright to reset
00;14;56;02 - 00;14;58;16
and, peer community.
00;14;58;16 - 00;15;00;18
And lastly basic needs supported.
00;15;00;18 - 00;15;02;24
They need a resource in the community.
00;15;02;24 - 00;15;05;24
I've uploaded our local resources
for them.
00;15;06;00 - 00;15;09;08
They're all available on the time
the here at as well also.
00;15;09;08 - 00;15;12;19
And then
so there's just no reason for them
00;15;12;19 - 00;15;14;19
to reach out at take time somehow.
00;15;14;19 - 00;15;17;00
Just don't hesitate.
There's something always.
00;15;17;00 - 00;15;17;25
Yeah, absolutely.
00;15;17;25 - 00;15;21;04
And I think your point of,
you know, having a doctor's appointment
00;15;21;04 - 00;15;25;00
from the couch laser or feeling that I did
that when I was in college.
00;15;25;00 - 00;15;26;24
And for a lot of our students here,
00;15;26;24 - 00;15;30;12
you know, you might have a family doctor
back home and,
00;15;30;12 - 00;15;33;20
and if you're over break, you know, and
you might be able to get in and see them
00;15;33;23 - 00;15;37;04
even if they're busy and, you know,
they're home for the holidays, too.
00;15;37;23 - 00;15;40;23
Having that your resource and access
00;15;40;23 - 00;15;44;17
to medical care while staying at home
because nobody wants to leave the house.
00;15;44;17 - 00;15;45;23
Perfect.
00;15;45;23 - 00;15;48;16
And even if you're not sick
and you're just not feeling the best
00;15;48;16 - 00;15;50;27
and you need somebody to talk to, like,
that's awesome.
00;15;50;27 - 00;15;53;28
To have that available,
the right at your fingertips.
00;15;53;28 - 00;15;54;17
Yes, such.
00;15;54;17 - 00;15;57;01
A blessing that we had this resource
free for our students.
00;15;57;01 - 00;15;57;29
Yeah, it's just amazing.
00;15;57;29 - 00;15;59;04
I hope it can continue.
00;15;59;04 - 00;16;02;06
So we want our kids to utilize it. Please.
00;16;02;06 - 00;16;04;23
Because we don't want to,
you know, risk losing it.
00;16;04;23 - 00;16;06;14
We don't have the utilization.
00;16;06;14 - 00;16;09;15
So yeah, definitely use this
free resource students.
00;16;09;18 - 00;16;13;15
And if they have any questions
about accessing, they can use your AI.
00;16;13;15 - 00;16;16;13
And or call me email drop by.
00;16;16;13 - 00;16;19;24
Like I said, there's several places
on our website that it's available
00;16;20;02 - 00;16;23;16
and you just sign on with that,
you know, use school email.
00;16;23;25 - 00;16;26;08
Really? Okay. Awesome.
00;16;26;08 - 00;16;29;15
Is there anything else that you want
to share with our students today?
00;16;29;15 - 00;16;31;01
Before we wrap up.
00;16;31;01 - 00;16;33;11
Just kind of to add, though,
that you're at Redlands.
00;16;33;11 - 00;16;35;14
We're not just concerned
about academic success.
00;16;35;14 - 00;16;39;22
We want our students to be, well,
you know, physically, emotionally.
00;16;40;03 - 00;16;41;26
Yeah. We have such great partners here.
00;16;41;26 - 00;16;45;00
People on campus,
they care just walk into any office
00;16;45;00 - 00;16;48;04
that they ever need any help
in, that they can help.
00;16;48;04 - 00;16;50;19
I know that they will say, now
do the person leave yet?
00;16;50;19 - 00;16;51;26
Yeah, absolutely.
00;16;51;26 - 00;16;56;01
And that's something Sydney and I talked
about before is, you know, Redlands.
00;16;56;13 - 00;16;59;13
And I think what makes Redlands
unique is the culture
00;16;59;13 - 00;17;01;25
and the family like environment.
00;17;01;25 - 00;17;04;21
And you know, professors
really care of our students.
00;17;04;21 - 00;17;07;19
And our staff
really cares about our students.
00;17;07;19 - 00;17;09;22
And we are so fortunate to have you
00;17;11;08 - 00;17;12;06
said support for our
00;17;12;06 - 00;17;15;09
students so that, for our students
that are listening,
00;17;15;09 - 00;17;19;29
I would very much so encourage you
to reach out to miss Lamb.
00;17;19;29 - 00;17;23;03
If you need help,
you need somebody to talk to,
00;17;23;03 - 00;17;26;03
or if you just want to go in and meet her
because she is a wonderful person
00;17;26;03 - 00;17;30;00
and I can't recommend her enough
for all of our students to go and visit.
00;17;30;00 - 00;17;30;22
Where are you to eat?
00;17;30;22 - 00;17;32;08
I always have cookies. And cookies.
00;17;32;08 - 00;17;32;25
So come on.
00;17;32;25 - 00;17;35;01
And she has. You had us.
00;17;35;01 - 00;17;36;28
We sat us in your office.
00;17;36;28 - 00;17;38;08
It's very comfy in there.
00;17;38;08 - 00;17;39;28
That should be welcoming.
00;17;39;28 - 00;17;40;12
Awesome.
00;17;40;12 - 00;17;42;15
Okay. Well, thank you for joining us
today.
00;17;42;15 - 00;17;44;16
Is you going lights I appreciate it. Yeah.
00;17;44;16 - 00;17;45;27
And thank you guys for listening.
00;17;45;27 - 00;17;48;01
Make sure to subscribe
wherever you listen.
00;17;48;01 - 00;17;49;27
And we will see you next time. Bye.
00;17;57;25 - 00;17;59;16
I think you know
00;17;59;16 - 00;18;00;25
what?
00;18;00;25 - 00;18;03;06
I'll. I'll.
